Politics / Re: Jonathan Calls Sawyer 'Crazy Man' For Travelling When Sick With Ebola by wills(m): 7:58pm On Aug 12, 2014
This slip, tactless and thoughtless comment by Mr. President cuts deep and sadly so too.

Not so much as the ebola victim is crazy, wicked or whatever you wish to call him, maybe he was maybe he was not, regardless the "roaster has come home to roast" YOU(Nigeria) have to face the consequences of her mistakes, because from a critical perspective, the statement "crazy man" or should I say crazy men encompass; a President, his minister of Health,Interior and other related ministries and agencies of "crazy men" who failed to take precautionary measures at Nigerian's points of entry knowing fully well ebola was already on the parole in West Africa or the "crazy men" in the media who did little or nothing to enlighten Nigerians on the nature of this deadly virus, until it hit home and now every news media has something to say.

The "crazy men" who are all now throwing money at ebola treatment and isolation centers by yet for decades concerning health issue the Nigerian govt and it's people has failed to equip local laboratory or encourage drug research but can host lavish weddings in dubia and in some cases with state apparatus. Shame to the crazy men who call them self doctors and strike non stop on and off, even during a national health emergency.

Even the terrorist destroying the north east are carzy men - killing innocent people, kidnapping young girls and blowing up themselves in the name of a god.

..Shame,shame,shame to all the "crazymen" calling a crazy man,crazy...

God Help Nigeria.

SERIOULY!!! GOD HELP HER

My reply to this Man called Doyin, who to me is obviously trying so hard to ruin President Goodluck Jonathan chances of completing his present term successfully or even successfully seeking re- election with his over bloated levels of sycophancy -

Mr Doyin, please GEJ is a unique persona and can not be And will NEVER! be Nelson Mandela! Because "the most powerful lesson Mandela thought was how to say No! to power. He could have won the presidency his whole life if he wanted, but he served 1 term and never ran again." so Eat that Doyin (beastly looking) Okupe. I don't know why GEJ makes nitt witts his public spoke person. If voting against GEJ will help us get ride of all the barrage of sycophants and money grabbing individuals in this administration then please let's to it. I just pray a real and credible opposition come up before 2015 other wise I will sadly re-vote GEJ... and oh, I don't mean APC when I use the word opposition.

And Yet Another Story.

Nigerian hunger striker in plea for release in UK.

A hunger striker who is "near death" is going to the Court of Appeal in an urgent bid to win release from an immigration detention centre.

Isa Muazu, 45, from Nigeria, has refused food for some 90 days, with the occasional exception, and also refused treatment in hospital after losing his bid for asylum.

Earlier this week Mr Justice Ouseley, sitting at London's High Court, ruled that Home Secretary Theresa May was not holding him unlawfully at Harmondsworth immigration removal centre and refused his lawyers' request to free him on bail.

The judge ruled that Mr Muazu's decision to continue to refuse food and fluids was, in the end, for him to make - "his detention does not become unlawful simply because he is determined on that outcome".

But the judge said his condition must be kept under review after it was argued that his death would defeat the purpose of his detention, which was to hold him pending deportation as an overstayer in the UK.

Because the case is of general importance and could affect other asylum detainees who refuse food, the judge gave Mr Muazu's lawyers permission to bring and expedited appeal against his decision.

Today the case will be heard by Lord Justice Maurice Kay, vice-president of the Court of Appeal, sitting with Lord Justice Moore-Bick and Lord Justice Ryder.

After the High Court ruled against him, Mr Muazu's solicitor Sue Willman, of law firm Deighton Pierce Glynn, said outside court: "Our concern is that he is now so near death that there will not be enough time to appeal.

"I hope the Home Secretary will now reconsider releasing him from detention as she now has a judgment that supports her policies."

Jerome Phelps, from campaign group Detention Action, said: "Medical experts have found that Isa is too unwell to be held in a high security detention centre and that he should be released.

"We are deeply saddened by this decision, which means that Isa is likely to die imminently.

"He came to this country seeking safety and may die on a mattress on the floor of an immigration detention centre."

The group issued a statement from Mr Muazu which said: "I am refusing to eat because my asylum claim was not treated fairly and I will not give up my protest.

Now I know everybody has a right to their opinions but I will say this: Please think hard and wise before you support this dude actions or encourage Nigerians to continue in a destructive path all in the name of wanting to travel abroad or continue to leave in a white man's land. Its shameful that Nigerians now use all sorts of tactics to seek asylum from claiming they are gay/lesbian, to saying their children would be subjected to female circumcision and in some recent case Nigerians are now seeking asylum on the bases of them being killed by Boko Haram if they go back to the North of the country. So people don't get me wrong let me also say this, Its not a wrong thing if you wish to travel outside Nigeria for noble purposes, such as to study, to work on official cross posting or sabbatical or even to immigrate using right and legal pathways where available.

My Comments For Case In Question:
This shameless Ignorant Young Man got what he deserved, Its folks like these that give Nigeria a bad name. However unfortunately the Nigerian government is not taking a very hard stance against Nigerians that commit crimes outside Nigeria and bring disrepute to the name Nigeria and cause decent hard working Nigerians loads of embarrassment. Any serious government would have come out with a clear policy on how to deal with these types of absolute damaging and unpatriotic Nigerians. For example, this man should be named and shamed locally on national TV networks or even in the widely read print media and in extreme cases get them to do some further form of jail term when they get deported back to Nigeria. I believe this might act as some form of deterrent. Well for this dude it serves him right. Some Nigerians are just dame shameless and would do anything to abandon the ship called Nigeria,as if the vessle you want to run to are willing to welcome you with open arms. Wake Nigerians smell the coffee, nobody wants you no more, migrating to their country, they have put all the hard work into making their country work. So stay in yours and make it work. Selah!

Travel / Lagos Hotels 2nd Most Expensive Globally – Research By The Hogg Robinson Group by wills(m): 10:40am On Aug 19, 2012
A recent research by the Hogg Robinson Group (HRG) has ranked hotels in Lagos as the second most expensive in the world behind Moscow, which oligarchs and bling reputation, pushed to first on the ranking.

According to the results of a poll conducted in 50 cities worldwide, a hotel room in Lagos cost an average of £217.05.

The report claimed the high rate of hotel rooms in the state could be attributed to the 'high volume of inbound business travel connected with the oil industry'.

It added security concerns in the security forces travellers to stay in five-star accommodation.

Behind Lagos in third place was Geneva with rooms priced at an average of £215.92, the survey said that hotel prices across the Eurozone had 'either fallen or remained flat'.

The survey also found that prices of hotel rooms had increased in both Tokyo and Dubai as they recovered from last year's earthquake, tsunami and Arab Spring.

Done twice a year, the HRG research looks at hotel room prices for key business destinations.

For the shitty services some of the so called 5 star hotels in Lagos and Abuja provide, plus the poor salary it pays its staff and horrendous condition of service. I will say the management of these hotels(their foreign collaborators and local partners) are simply profiteering.

Its Lagos, its Nigeria... consumers are always at the mercy of any greedy business men.. The government care less about regulation or ensuring people get value for Money, after all if people in this Government like Oronto Douglas, have a room in trans-crop Hilton he has kept for year now,see source http://www.economist.com/blogs/baobab/2012/08/nigeria?zid=309&ah=80dcf288b8561b012f603b9fd9577f0e So tell me who cares what people pay ? .....

Travel / U.S. Issues Travel Warning To Its Citizens In Nigeria by wills(m): 4:58pm On Jun 22, 2012
US Embassy Emergency Message
« on: Today at 16:34:45 »

On June 20, 2012 the State Department issued an updated travel warning for Nigeria; please find it below. The U.S. mission continues to urge American Citizens to exercise and maintain a high state of vigilance and personal security awareness, near Nigerian government facilities, diplomatic missions, large gathering places, hotels, markets and malls, and places of worship.

All American Citizens should also ensure they remain aware of current situations including curfews, travel restrictions, and states of emergency in the areas they are in or plan to travel to. This information is commonly announced via news, radio, media, but at times changes with very little notice. Please make sure you take time to find out this information for your local area.

The Department of State warns U.S. citizens of the risks of travel to Nigeria, and continues to recommend that U.S. citizens avoid all but essential travel to the following states because of the risk of kidnappings, robberies, and other armed attacks: Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Plateau, Gombe, Yobe, Bauchi, Borno, and Kano states. The Department also warns against travel to the Gulf of Guinea because of the threat of piracy. Violent crime remains a problem throughout the country and is perpetrated by both individuals and gangs, as well as by persons wearing police and military uniforms. Based on safety and security risk assessments, travel by U.S. officials to all northern Nigerian states (in addition to those listed above) must receive advance clearance by the U.S. Mission as being mission-essential. U.S. citizens should be aware that in light of the continuing violence, extremists may expand their operations beyond northern Nigeria to the country’s southern states. This Travel Warning replaces the Travel Warning for Nigeria dated February 29, 2012, to update information on the continued violent activities in the country.

On December 31, 2011, the President of Nigeria declared a state of emergency in 15 local government areas in the states of Borno, Niger, Plateau, and Yobe. This State of Emergency remains in effect, although with modification in some areas. According to the Government of Nigeria, the declaration of a State of Emergency responds to activities of extremist groups. The State of Emergency gives the government sweeping powers to search and arrest without warrants.

Retaliatory violence and protests continue in Kaduna State following a series of church bombings on June 17. In Damatura, Yobe State, Nigerian police and security forces have been fighting members of the extremist group Boko Haram since June 19. The government has imposed a 24 hour curfew for the city of Damaturu and the entire state of Kaduna.

The risk of continued attacks against Western targets in Nigeria remains high. Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for many attacks, mainly in northern Nigeria, killing and wounding thousands of people. Multiple Suicide Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Devices (SBVIEDs) targeting churches exploded June 17, in the Kaduna State cities of Kaduna and Zaria, resulting in several deaths and injuries. Nigerian government forces and local extremists exchanged gunfire in Maiduguri, Borno State in an hours-long confrontation on June 7. On June 10, a Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) exploded in Jos, Plateau State, and extremists shot at people at a church in Biu Town, Borno State, with casualties resulting from both attacks. On April 29, assailants attacked the Theatre Hall on the campus of Bayero University of Kano with improvised explosive devices (IED) and gun shots, killing at least eight people and wounding several others. On April 26, a VBIED simultaneously detonated at “This Day” newspaper in Abuja and the same newspaper’s offices in Kaduna. On the evening of April 24, an IED went off at a Jos sports bar, injuring at least four people. On April 8, a VBIED exploded at a roundabout close to a church in Kaduna, killing at least 20. At least two people died and dozens sustained injuries when a VBIED exploded at a church in Jos on March 11. On February 7, the Boko Haram extremist sect claimed responsibility for three simultaneous attacks on Nigerian military targets across Kaduna that killed or injured dozens of people. In addition, eleven people died during a January 22, gun battle and bomb attacks in Bauchi, Bauchi State. On January 20, elements of Boko Haram claimed responsibility for multiple explosive attacks and assaults against eight different government facilities in Kano. The attacks lasted several hours and claimed hundreds of lives in the most deadly attack yet by Boko Haram members in Nigeria. Boko Haram continued attacks in January and February, focusing on Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, Gombe, Kano, and Kaduna states, and the group continues to publicly threaten attacks throughout northern Nigeria.

Extremists conducted other high-profile bombings in Abuja over the past two years. Boko Haram claimed credit for an August 2011 suicide bombing that killed 25 at the UN Headquarters building, a June 2011 bombing at the Nigerian Police Headquarters building, and a December 2010 bombing at a “fish bar.” The Movement for Emancipation of the Niger Delta took credit for two car bombs that detonated during Nigeria’s Independence Day celebrations in 2010.

Kidnappings remain another security concern. In May 2012, criminals kidnapped an Italian national in Kwara State. In April 2012, criminals kidnapped a U.S. citizen in Imo State and a Spanish citizen in Enugu State in separate incidents. In January 2012, kidnappers abducted a U.S. citizen from his vehicle in Warri (Delta State) and killed his security guard. Assailants kidnapped a German citizen, also in January 2012, along a road in Kano. The German citizen was killed by his captors on May 31 during a military-led raid. In 2011, five kidnappings of U.S. citizens reportedly occurred in Nigeria. The most recent took place in November when pirates abducted two U.S. citizens, along with a Mexican national, in international waters off the Nigerian coast and held them captive for over two weeks in the Niger Delta. Other kidnappings have occurred in Lagos and Imo States. Also, elements of Boko Haram kidnapped a British national and an Italian national in Kebbi State in May 2011. Their captors shot and killed them on March 8, 2012, when Nigerian and British security forces attempted to rescue them. Since January 2009, criminals have abducted over 140 foreign nationals in Nigeria, including seven U.S. citizens since November 2010. Six foreign nationals died during these abductions, while two U.S. citizens died in separate kidnapping attempts in Port Harcourt in April 2010. Local authorities and expatriate businesses operating in Nigeria assert that the number of kidnapping incidents throughout Nigeria have remained underreported.

Travel by foreigners to areas considered by the Nigerian government to be conflict areas should not occur without prior consultation and coordination with local security authorities. The Nigerian government may view such travel as inappropriate and potentially illegal, and it may detain violators. In 2008, Nigerian authorities detained six U.S. citizens, including journalists, on six occasions, in areas where militant groups had operated. The Nigerian government interrogated these U.S. citizens for lengthy periods of time without lodging formal charges against them before their eventual deportation. Journalists must obtain a special accreditation from the Ministry of Information prior to traveling to conflict areas in the Niger Delta region in addition to obtaining a general press accreditation and valid Nigerian visa required to conduct such activities elsewhere in Nigeria.

Many foreign oil companies operating in the Niger Delta states of Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, and Rivers have implemented “essential travel only” policies for their personnel. The U.S. Mission requires advance permission for U.S. government travel to these states, as well as the states of Abia, Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Edo, Gombe, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Niger, Sokoto, Zamfara Plateau, Gombe, Kano, and Yobe, given the safety and security risk assessments and the limited ability of the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General to provide assistance to individuals detained by Nigerian authorities in these states. Due to recent violent activity, the U.S. Mission has temporarily restricted all but the most essential travel by U.S. government personnel to northern Nigeria. All official travel to northern Nigerian states must receive advance permission by the Mission and be deemed mission-essential to be granted.

Nigeria is a multi-ethnic, multi-religious society in which different ethnic and religious groups often live in the same area. A number of northern states have experienced violence in the past year exacerbating tensions along those lines.

U.S. citizen visitors and residents have experienced armed muggings, assaults, burglaries, car-jackings, rapes, kidnappings, and extortion -- often involving violence. Home invasions also remain a serious threat, with armed robbers accessing even guarded compounds by scaling perimeter walls; following or tailgating residents or visitors arriving by car into the compound; and subduing guards and gaining entry into homes or apartments. Armed robbers in Lagos also accessed waterfront compounds by boat. U.S. citizens, as well as Nigerians and other expatriates, have become victims of armed robbery at banks and grocery stores and on airport roads during both daylight and evening hours. An extremists’ organization's modus operandi is to attack banking institutions. Law enforcement authorities usually respond slowly or not at all, and provide little or no investigative support to victims. U.S. citizens, Nigerians, and other expatriates have experienced harassment and shakedowns at checkpoints and during encounters with Nigerian law enforcement officials. Traveling outside of major cities after dark is not recommended due to both crime and road safety concerns. Attacks by pirates off the coast of Nigeria in the Gulf of Guinea have increased in recent years. Armed gangs have boarded both commercial and private vessels to rob travelers. The Nigerian Navy has limited capacity to respond to criminal acts at sea.

The situation in the country remains fluid and unpredictable. The U.S. Department of State strongly urges U.S. citizens in Nigeria to consider their own personal security and to keep personal safety in the forefront of their planning.

U.S. citizens who travel to or reside in Nigeria are strongly advised to enroll in the State Department’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). U.S. citizens without Internet access may enroll directly with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. By enrolling, you make it easier for the U.S. Embassy or Consulate to contact you in case of an emergency.

U.S. citizens should contact the U.S. Embassy in Abuja or the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos for up-to-date information on any restrictions. The U.S. Embassy in Abuja is open Monday - Thursday 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM and Friday 7:30 AM. to 1:30 PM. The U.S. Consulate General in Lagos is open Monday - Thursday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Friday 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The U.S. Consulate General in Lagos can be reached by telephone, including after-hours emergencies, at +234(1) 460-3600 or +234 (1) 460-3400.

This same airline operators Dana, had an Emergency Landing in Lagos at MM2, just barely over 3 weeks ago and yet no body or the responsible authority did any serious inspection or regulations of this Airline or on any troubled airline.

Dear God have mercy on airline users and save them from a system that is failing day by day. Its so sad, its always certain that when things like these happen in Nigeria, we all know one thing already. The underlining causes is definitely because of corruption.

Its someone or a group of people responsibility to ensure Airlines don't cut corners and must maintain Aircraft as required but in Nigeria there's always a but. I don't want to jump to conclusion about this particular crash. But if we would ever know the outcome of investigation into this crash, no one will ever know.

The last two air crashes during Obj tenure as president I don't think up till today the investigation carried out was made public or if the causes identified and the recommendations to avoid this kind of crash from happening again was carried out??.Its a sad day for this country today, many have lost loved ones, young, old and even little ones. Fathers, Mothers, brothers, sisters, husbands, wifes, friends, and possible some famous people have all departed us today for ever. May God have Mercy and may the lost all rest in Peace.. So sad, so sad

To the bereaved its hard to find words to comfort you all. I just pray God to give you all needed grace and comfort you in his own way.

We all saw the pictures and read the story about the wedding, if for any thing why cant you just draw the lesson of simplicity from that wedding and use it as a post to caution Nigerians ? We have so taken this marriage thing out of proportion that even CNN did the program titled my big fat Nigerian wedding. Many young man and women put them selves through unnecessary hardship to have a gallant wedding ceremony and end up in debt, is it really the wedding day jamboree ? or the life after that single day of joining ?

We have so many good eroded values already and simplicity is one of them. Its really a shame LINDA thumbs down to you on this one and to any greedy young single or married woman supporting this - truth be told your just a greedy woman . [/b]

Education / Nigerian Bags Uk Engineering Management Award by wills(m): 11:34pm On Feb 22, 2012
Great achievement  shocked, Nigerians are excelling at some of the best institutions of higher learning in the UK and around the Globe.Am very glad to see that this young lady chose to return home and contribute positively to the growth of her father land.

Nice to also see her University  where she studied in the UK, gladly celebrating her achievements and even doing so in her home country Nigeria.

Nigerian Universities take NOTE!

For completing her Engineering with Technology Management course on time and with first class honours, Miss Caroline Ekanem has been awarded the Fen Arthur Prize by the University of Huddersfield, United Kingdom.

The award was presented to Ekanem in Lagos last week by a representative of the institution on behalf of Prof. Fenwick Arthur.

While presenting the award, the Principal Lecturer, International Recruitment and Collaboration Manager, University of Huddersfield, Ms. Julie Wilkinson, said Ekanem exhibited the required technological management skills and morals, stressing that it was an honour for the recipient to receive the prestigious award.

“This is an award that not only recognises her academic prowess, but also her management skills as far as her course is concerned and business wise, for it is a challenge for any international student to adjust to university life in the UK, but Caroline quickly settled in and made excellent progress on all her modules,” Wilkinson said.

In her reaction, Ekanem noted that she did well in the UK because of the sound educational system, which the country operated, adding that her skill in engineering management would be used to develop the Nigerian oil sector, as she had already been employed by ExxonMobil.

She said, “Education generally in the UK is intense because the government ensures that everything about your selected topic or department is covered, and we were exposed to a lot of hands-on in our respective subjects. This is a challenge for us in this country and I hope things change for the better.

“As for the skills I have garnered, I will use them to contribute to the growth of our economy as an engineering management employee of ExxonMobil.”

One vShare is equivalent to ownership of 1/1,000,000 of Zurker. When 1,000,000 vShares have been allocated, Zurker will be restructured as a public corporation and vShares will become real shares. (Incorporating a company with 1,000,000 stakeholders is a complex and challenging undertaking logistically and financially, requiring a dedicated team and considerable financial experience, expertise, and resources, which is why we are not doing it now.)

In other words, vShares entitle the owner to own equity in Zurker, and shares in the future Zurker corporation.

Politics / Re: Fuel Subsidy 101 (some Eye Openers ) by wills(m): 7:38pm On Jan 09, 2012
As we OccupyNigeria, people and politicians with personal grudges against President Jonathan should not be allowed to hijack these protest, but Nigerians must make it clear, these remonstration is about change that goes beyond just the reversal to the market price of unsubsidized fuel, rather MOST IMPORTANTLY it should include a call for an end to the killings around the nation, we must demand security be restored across the country.

No Christian should be killed because of his faith or ethnicity, no Muslim should be killed because of his faith or ethnicity. If we can protest and cry out because of an increase in the pump price of PMS, we certainly can show concern, empathy and should be able to even cry even louder against the senseless killing of innocent men, women and children at various places of worship, and against the treat to lives of southerners in the north and northerners in the south.

All forms of cabal, corrupt officials or Nigerians with financial crime cases to answer in courts, we must begin to see them stand trail and be served justice and not bail but rather (guilty or not guilty verdicts).

This present government no doubt has a lot of enemies from outside and from within trying to frustrate all its efforts, it should not pick a fight with the Nigerian people over subsided fuel thus making this most needed support structure an enemy.

Nigerians must begin now! to start letting politicians know that 2015 is way too far, we will let them know their faith years before re-election based on current performance.

God Bless Nigeria

Politics / Fuel Subsidy 101 (some Eye Openers ) by wills(m): 1:41am On Jan 09, 2012
I this write up I won’t go into the genesis of the fuel subsidy debate in Nigeria, the eventual abrupt removal and the current face off between the Nigerian Government and Labour Unions/Civil society groups.

However interestingly every Government official talking about fuel subsidy points the Nigerian public to economic hardship in some part of the EU and use countries like Greece as an example, even though Greece economic problems has nothing to do with Petrol subsidy.

One form of comparison our brilliant economist won’t ever talk about is Nigeria and Malaysia. Nigeria issue goes beyond subsidy removal, that’s why I am of the opinion that anyone telling the Nigerian people that subsidy removal is really the only thing that can save this country from crashing financially is just engaging in pure official Government Blackmail and He/She is a part of the insincerity shrouding the removal of subsidy in Nigeria. By the way this writer believes Subsidy on Petrol should be phased out, but certainly not this moment in time and way it’s being carried out.

Watch the short video that explains Fuel subsidy in layman's terms and then look at the Statistics below and you be the judge yourself when it comes to fuel subsidy in Nigeria.

http://youtu.be/8BfJcD3tEto

At the end of Dec 2011 Malaysian Government Fuel Subsidy amounted to 18Billion Malaysian Ringgit (Source Malaysian GTP- Government Transformation Programme) The Equivalent of this amount Spent on subsidy by Malaysia in terms of Nigerian Naira = 913 Billion, 244, Million.

Nigeria’s population is estimated at 150Million that’s 5 times more than that of Malaysia which is at 28.3 million. Now If Malaysia is spending almost one Trillion Nigerian Naira to subsides fuel for a population 5 times less than the population of Nigeria, it leaves us to ask many (WHY) questions for our own government to answer.

This type of comparison and not the Greece economic brouhaha that’s on the lips of pro subsidy economist and apologist alike, to me makes more sense. More shocking is that Malaysian State oil revenues supplies just more than 40% of government revenue, while in Nigeria the Oil sector provides a colossal 80% of Government budgetary revenues. Yet Malaysia dares to subsidies fuel in a world where the IMF and World Bank insist that Sub Saharan African Countries MUST do away with fuel subsidy or ? (Possibly it’s now a condition for one of their Loans, which African Governments seem not to be able to do without) A classic case of - The Drug Dealer and the Crack Head.

Comparing some other Economic Statistics Nigeria’s Nominal GDP estimate stands at $247.128Billon and its Per capita income at $1,541. Malaysia Nominal GDP: $255.3 billion and per capita income (GNI): $8,126. Both Countries practically have the very same Natural resources: Petroleum, liquefied natural gas (LNG), tin, minerals. Agricultural products: Palm oil, rubber, timber, coco.

Malaysia is multi ethnic just like Nigeria but with a much less ethic grouping when compared to Nigeria, however Malaysia unlike Nigeria is multi racial and has more officially recognised religious groups than Nigeria’s 3 main Christian, Muslim and Animist's. Once again as a good example to compare Nigeria with, Malaysia is not seen on CNN, SKY ,BBC ALJEZERA and all world news network with stories of ethic and religious clashes.

Just so that this write up won’t get clogged up with statistics and comparison I will stop here, I have chosen some of these data (which can be verified from official government website source) to paint a picture of what could have been possibly similarities in both countries but are now so different.

I believe countries such as Malaysia is a better basis for comparison if we wish to tell ourselves the truth in Nigeria and grow our own economy, than using European countries or the United States to justify insincere government actions.

The final question here is; why will two countries with possibilities for similarity, yet be so different? The answers may just be found by pointing to or examining
3 key features -1. Leadership, 2.Followership and 3.Value systems. but I will leave you to find that out for yourself.

Politics / Tuc/nlc 9ht Jan 2011 National Strike And The Uk /dubai Connections. by wills(m): 10:54am On Jan 07, 2012
The following is stolen from a site and is possibly written by a foreigner living in NIGERIA - with an industrial action looming - it is worth sharing.

"Short of calling for general nationwide strikes, there are precious few MODALITIES by which leaders of Nigeria's labor unions can acquire sufficient money to purchase modest homes with cash in the UK or Dubai.

The standard procedure, which has been repeated at least four times in Nigeria's recent history, is as follows :

1. The government threatens to raise fuel prices.

2. Labor union leaders threaten fire and brimstone if the fuel prices do go up.

3. On cue, the government doubles fuel prices overnight.

4. Privately delighted at their impending good fortune, but feigning indignant outrage in public, salivating labor leaders schedule nationwide strikes, licking their chops in eager anticipation of the coming windfall.

5. Amid much fanfare and publicity, the threatened strikes commence, with the odd protester shot dead by the police so as to lend an air of authenticity to the performance.

6. No later than the SECOND day of such strikes, Labor union leaders FINALLY get that cash call from the federal government.

7. Bug-eyed with glee, and drooling profusely, labor leaders take their places at the "Round Table Meeting" with obese government officials, where envelopes stuffed fat with hard currency are pressed into grasping hands.

8. Between browsing real-estate websites in preparation for the realization of their lifetime ambitions, Labor union leaders announce that a "breakthrough" has been reached in talks, signalling an end to the strike, 24-hours after attending the traditional Greasing of Palms ceremony with the president.

9. Precisely 36 hours into the strike, the 100% increase in fuel prices is reduced to a mere 80% increase, which is "grudgingly" accepted by the labor union leaders, who then call off the strike, after issuing the now contrite president with a "stern" admonition to keep the interests of the "common man" at heart.

10. After no more than 48 hours of national strike posturing, labor union leaders issue heartfelt thanks, and call for a return to work, even as they book flights to Europe and the Middle East for the first of many memorable shopping sprees. "

THE ABOVE MIGHT NOT BE TRUE BUT FROM EXPERIENCE THIS ARE SOME OF THE POSSIBILITIES WE SHOULD BE LOOKING AT,THUS THE OCCUPYNIGERIA TEAM,ENOUGH IS A ENOUGH TEAM AND ALL OTHER CIVIL RIGHTS GROUP SHOULD LEAD CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE ADMITS STRIKE ACTIONS AND NOT LEAVE IT JUST TO THE LABOR UNIONS/STRIKE. THIS ONGOING CRY FOR CHANGE GOES BEYOND SUBSIDY, IS A CALL FOR RIGHT GOVERNANCE.
