@OjaP, thanks a lot. Actually 67% by ibadan marking scheme is very good and is stated in the trancripts. However, i need to look for grade B schools to apply to since my entire package may not be so convincing by American standards.

Can't say the same for me.I got a rejection from weill cornell pharmacology a few days back and haven't heard anything from albert einstein of yeshiva and stony brook pharmacology.Guess i didnt apply to the right schools. May be our friends on the yankee side of this thread can be of help to me(advice). what second-rate biomedical schools can one apply to? is my GRE too low for doctoral admission?

Hey gurus in the house! can anyone suggest some pharmacology graduate schools(PhD) in canada that i can apply to? my application to the US schools not really working out as planned. tanx guys,any advice will be welcomed with gratitude. I have a MSc degree in pharmacolgy(ibadan),Toefl iBT -104, GRE- Q-157,V-152,AW-3.5.

flynbird: You're not getting it.... The website is showing available dates for toefl exam but there is another drop down bar where u select test center in the state but it doesn't show any test center for ibadan even when I go to May dates,. When u click on ur city, it automatically shows the available dates for the exams but getting a centre is not coming up... Lagos and other cities show dates too but if you want a centre you'll have to check the very late dates such as May but ibadan doesn't even show any centres but dates, so I'm thinking the phone registration would be the best alternative

I did the toefl in sept. 2012 and registered for it online using my visa debit card. when i saw your question,i tried the online registration again (just now) and i see the EAC centre is not popping up.it means the dates for april/may have not yet been confirmed by the center,so you can't register for it as yet. you'l have to check on alternate days to see when they are available. i had the same problem you have now,because i was in ibadan at the time i wanted to write my test but there were no dates then.i had to register a lagos center,but the ibadan dates later came up. be patient if you really want to write it in ibadan or you could try the phone registration(i doubt that would work for the ibadan problem though)

@flynbird,why don't you choose a center in lagos? when no dates are available in ibadan,it means the seats are filled up for the exams, and you'l have to check the site every other day for the next available dates in Ibadan(probably May).If you really want it fast,you might have to consider a lagos center.

I'm not sure anyone will be sending you interview tips via email. Read Through part 1 to 3 of this thread and you'll pick up more than enough tips for the embassy interview. Just one more step for you,so please do it for your own benefit.

Took the GRE today. Finished about 15 minutes ago.... Met Bukahands at the centre tho he finished before I did & left earlier (How did you do bro?).

Essays were alright, Argument task was easier.

First verbal & Quant sections were quite lovely.

2nd Verbal & Quants sections were far less lovely...almost crazy.lol

3rd Verbal (the unscored section I guess) was in between.

At the end of it all.....

my undergrad cgpa is 3.47

Can anyone please suggest schools that lay more emphasis on GRE than CGPA in giving assistantships, scholarships(maybe) e.t.c.
Intended major -Public health/Env. Health & related areas sha.

I chose Indiana Uni Bloomington, Uni of Cincinnati, Northern Illinois Uni & Kent state Uni.

You can use your visa debit card to register for toefl,just go to the ets/toefl website,open an account and register. GRE? Not sure -I registered and did it at first logic in ikeja,lagos.

imperiouxx: You guys will just be fine coming for your PhD (you will be able to file for yourself if you can complete your PhD). I envy both of you but na just some few months cover mine. virgin ice, for the enlightenment, Part 1 till now is the only thing that can do that. Winbyforce, don't be too anxious you will scale the by phone interview and the embassy too. Just know about your research and what will you do if you get a negative result in your research. A friend once told me that was one of his phone interview questions. You can still apply to some other school like SDSU. The school accepted to give me a PhD admission in Biochem then but I was a noob about how embassy feels about direct PhD without MS not until I was at the embassy, then I realized the embassy also love such. Well God knows better than I do sha.

I sent mails to 5 lecturers dat I can carry out my research under ther supavision for review of my docx, dis musta helped cos I was persistent n dese lecturers r d board dat decide. Some pipu go tru d interview u spoke abt buh only on rare cases except d school specify dat u must, wc adly hapns.

I applied to Yeshiva,amongst others, and was informed that qualified doctoral candidates will be interviewed (international students by phone). I just need to know what to expect. can you share your experience (if u had an interview)?

imperiouxx: I have the test simulation software also do some people here. I'll recommended that for you but the issue is that I can't send no more. If we have anyone with that material in house, he/she can help you with it. Best of luck.

You can get downloadable sample practice questions at the ETS/GRE website.I used it prior to my exam-it's the same format and setting as the main exam.

sosoclean: Does anyone know how I could register for toefl here in nigeria without agents? Does the website allow nigeria banks debit visa cards? I'll like to take the test in Ibadan.... Also how do I go. About making payment for WES evaluation? Can I get to pay for that with my debit visa card too?

You can register for the TOEFL by yourself,all you require is a VISA debit card(only visa was allowed when i registered).U go to the ETS website and open a TOEFL iBT personal account and then go ahead to register for the test.a list of available cities and centers is available on the site. U choose where u want to write your exam and pay instantly with your VISA card. U then print out the order page. they'l send an email to you anyway.when i got to the exam center,i was number one on the list!(Agents rip you off of valuable naira). The TOEFL exam center in Ibadan is Educational Advancement Center(EAC),Bodija. Pls try doing it on your own laptop o. Dunno much about WES,never used them.

bukahands: Guys I think I messed up I was thínking dat texas austin application is open until march next year for fall admission cos my attention was diverted to canadian schools anyway can any1 suggest any good reputable school that still has application open for fall next year or at least january 2014. Please not a very competitive school o but good cos ma gp is 3.52 out of 5 and transcript in ma school cost 35k/piece so I can't apply to many schools as planned earlier (after ma Nysc ending In July next year I don't wanna wait

Also I am taking d GRE in january next year am studying with Baron 2012 hard copy any tips

35k/piece of transcript? what school is that? .I used Baron for my GRE and it was ok for me. I did better when i prepared for the TOEFL with Kaplan though. you can try getting both books for the best results.

You can register and take the GRE test at FIRST LOGIC,ikeja lagos(by Wema bank building). I did mine in June 2012 and it cost 39.5k there.
