BusinessFirstmonie Agent Jailed In Benue For Doing This... by winningwinner(op): 9:50am On Aug 26, 2019
When I read through this headline: "First Bank PoS merchant sent to prison for fraud" on
dailypost.ng, I felt for the man, and certain questions began to hit back to me.

My reason for posting this information on Nairaland is to learn from others how it has become an offence to collect an ATM from a customer, cash it and hand the money to the customer? Is there any check the agent has to run before cashing for a customer?

Here is the story:

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Makurdi Zonal Office on Wednesday, secured the conviction of Eze Shedrach, a First Bank, Point of Sales (PoS) agent (First Moni) before Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon of the Federal High Court, Makurdi, the state capital, on a one-count charge that bordered on cyber crime.

Trouble started for Shedrach when one of his customers collected N105,000 from him and issued him an ATM card with which he made an electronic replacement of the sum through his PoS machine.

He effected the transfer not knowing that the ATM card issued to him by the customer was stolen. Shedrach’s inability to find out the status of the ATM card followed his failure to identify the customer properly before the transaction.

Investigation by the Commission revealed that Shedrach as First Bank’s Point of Sales (PoS) agent was in the habit of carrying out financial transactions without proper documentation of his customers upon withdrawals.

The withdrawal of N105,000 done on his POS machine on 28th April, 2019 was with a stolen ATM card belonging to the victim; and could not be traced in his ledger as there is no documentation to that effect.

A complaint of fraudulent withdrawal from Oodo Rose, the owner of the ATM card, led to Shedrack’s arrest and prosecution by the EFCC.

The one-count charge reads: “That you Eze Shedrach being a First Bank Service provider as a Moni Agent on the 28th of April, 2019 at Ikpayongo Town, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, failed to obtain proper identification of your customer before executing the customer’s electronic instruction using First Bank Plc ATM card issued to one Oodo Rose on your Point of Sale (POS) to withdraw the sum of N105,000.00 (One Hundred and Five Thousand Naira) only and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 37(2) of the Cyber Crime (Prohibition, Prevention etc) Act, 2015 and punishable under the same Act.”

Shedrach pleaded guilty to the charge. In view of his plea, the prosecuting counsel, Y. Y. Tarfa urged the court to convict him in accordance with the plea bargain agreement he reached with the Commission.

Justice Olajuwon found Shedrack guilty and convicted him. He ordered him to pay a fine of N500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira) to the Federal Government and in addition, pay the sum of N100,500 (One Hundred Thousand, Five Hundred Naira) only to the complainant as restitution.

He is to remain in prison pending the payment of the fines.

PhonesI Learned Phone Hacking By Common Sense - Dare by winningwinner(op): 9:30pm On Aug 17, 2019
*We can hack into any account, withdraw money from it, even if phone is locked- suspect*

Most Nigerians and mobile phone users all over the globe usually lock their phones , thereby making it difficult for anyone to have access to information in them, particularly their account details.

But a suspected telephone hacker who was arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad,  Ladipo, Lagos,  has revealed that such measure does not prevent him and his likes from gaining  access into any bank account if they laid their hands on such phones.

Surprisingly, the 31-year-old suspect, Dare Oladimeji, is a Senior Secondary School  Certificate holder.

In this interview with Crime Guard, Oladimeji, a footballer,  who just returned from Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, having concluded his two years contract with ALAIN FC, said hacking into bank accounts through phones , had nothing to do with being a graduate.

*Arrest*

Some suspected members of his gang as gathered, had earlier been arrested and charged to court.  He was tracked to Idi-Oro area of Lagos, during investigation into the withdrawal of N200,000 from a victim’s account .

Asked if he had any connivance with bank staff, he shook his head, stating rather , that he got the necessary details from Google Chrome.

He boasted that money could be withdrawn from account through stolen sim card, no matter the code used to prevent one from accessing the phone.

Hear him: “I  work on sim cards to get money.  When I lay my hands on any sim card,  I would  slot it  into any small phone that is not  adroid.  When that is done,  I would  press a code which   brings out the list of banks the  owner of the sim uses.

“For example, if the person is using GTB, I will proceed with the normal code of *37*100#. If the person has money , we would use it to buy recharge card to confirm  how much the owner has, through the debit alert that would pop in  to reveal the balance.  Thereafter, we would  transfer the money  into donors accounts, from where we would withdraw the money”.

Asked what happens if phone is locked, he said, “ Locking of  phones with password does not stop me from hacking into any  account, as long as I can lay my hands on the sim card. All I need to do is to remove the sim and slot it into a small phone.

“The only thing that can prevent me from hacking into account through phone is  when the SIM card itself is locked. But most people don’t lock their sim cards, they only lock their phones.

You can only beat my likes to the game if you lock your sim card because  only the owner knows the password”.

He stated that he resorted to doing such illicit deal after he lost the money he brought from Dubai.

According to him, “  When I came back from  Dubai in 2016, I brought N7 million , out of which I gave one Mr Shola N5 million for a  genuine business  with NUPENG. Unfortunately, the man died .

*We pick SIM cards*

“ I decided to venture into this business which is a small version of  yahoo yahoo because I didn’t want to go into robbery.  At Idi-Oro, there are pick pockets . When they snatch phones from victims, they would throw the sim cards away. What I do is to go looking for these sim cards and continue from there.

“Nobody taught me the skill. I learnt it from google chrome.  This is just common sense. But I regret my action because I have brought shame to my children”, said the father of three.

The suspect as gathered, would be charged to court soon.

PoliticsAsari Dokubo Condoles Afenifere, Declares Support For USB by winningwinner(op): 9:10pm On Jul 19, 2019
Asari Dokubo, founder of the Niger Delta People's Volunteer Force has declared his support for the actualization of the United States of Biafra (USB) while calling on Niger Delta people to return home following threats from Arewa youths.

His declaration came on the heels of northerners asking herdsmen to leave the South and the suspended implementation of Ruga settlements in parts of Nigeria.

Dokubo made his position known in a meeting with leaders of Niger Delta states.

He said: "We, the people of the Niger Delta today, resolved to be part and parcel of the actualization the United States of Biafra.

"What has brought us here today is the dark cloud that is gathering. In 1967, we did not ask for war, war was imposed on us and millions of our people were killed. Our properties were destroyed and so many people until today are carrying the scars of that imposed war.

"Our people have not gone to Kano, Kebbi, Sokoto, Borno to ask that land be forcefully given to us or that our resources should be used to give us properties in the north.

"But northern organizations and northern individuals have come up to say we must surrender our land to them to create colonies on our land. Are you going to allow that?

"We will not surrender one grain of sand of our sacred land to anybody. We will stand on our land and wait for you to come and carry out your threat and inshallah by the grace of God we will defeat you.

"We have heard that you have called your people to come back home. They should all go, we will assist them to leave (because) this is what we have been looking for all along.

"We call on our people, Igbo, Ibibio, Ikwerre, Ijaw return back home. If anything happens to you and this coward spines on you, you would have yourself to blame. We would not continue to risk our integrity and our pride because of you, return home now.

"We extend a hand of fellowship to our brothers in the middle belt who are suffering the same pain and deprivation as we do. We are with you in your hours of grief and pain and we will stand with you to the end.

"To our Yoruba brothers in Afenifere, and the leader of Afenifere whose daughter has been gruesomely murdered by this Gambari invaders. We condole with you but this is the price we have to pay to wake up."

PoliticsWhat Makes Buhari The 'worst' President Of Nigeria? by winningwinner(op):
Nigeria is a country that interacts with millions of foreigners on daily basis. Nigeria has the potentials of a great world power. Nigeria can rise to stardom whenever she wants to. Nigeria is a bride of all nations waiting for her hands in marriage. Nigeria is beautiful.

Yea, even the worst critic of Nigeria will attest to this. But what is wrong with Nigeria is a question many people will not attempt to answer in a hurry. Given the opportunity most Nigerian youths who seem too lazy today in the eyes of the elderly will surprisingly turn Nigeria into the world's most beautiful bride. Why?

The youths were born in the age of computers and and advanced technologies. The youths got the fastest educational training. The youths got the airwaves innundated with contents. The youths ex-ray facts and verify the figures. Yet today, in the eyes of the aged, the youths are LAZY!!!

Yes, they were denied the job when their brains are hotter. They were denied the needed filial supervision while they work. They were seen as immature in government functions. They were disrespected and bullied by the elderly. They were sent to school to acquire just a paper identity - certificate. Their parents marry for them and send them and their wives as errand chaps, eating crumps that fell from their 'generous' hands.

But wait, do you know that youths are not lazy in sports representation? No, they are not lazy in thuggery... They are not lazy in impregnating the wives their parents married for them.

Okay, let's get back to the main issue. The polls conducted by SaharaReporters singled out two Nigerian youthful Presidents - Yar'Adua and Jonathan. They were both youthful and educated...! By implications they know what Nigeria wants. You and I also know that they too had their shortcomings, and were criticised for it.

I learned something from that poll. I discovered that many Nigerians are afraid of saying the truth where it concerns the present president. The polls gave them a little cover to say their mind. The good thing about the poll even though I do not totally agree with its rating is this: that people in government should learn to accommodate criticism. Failure to do this will turn everyone to a praise singer whether good or bad. The real result will then show when the person in power leaves office.

I will suggest that the Nigerian presidency learns to accommodate critics and try as much as possible to self-examine and make amends where necessary. As a family, Nigeria should let the youths into certain strong leadership positions while the elderly correct them where necessary. Let's imagine a situation where a father occupies every position in the family both in business and others while still seeing his children as immature. What happens to the empire he was guarding jealously if death should knock on his door? Would the children not run the empire into a disaster?

President Buhari is truly not what Nigeria youths called him through the Sahara polls, but were venting their anger on his style of leadership. Buhari can do better if he can harness the youthful brains Nigeria has produced over this few years. He's about to form his cabinet, if the youths of Nigeria are carried along while the elderly do advisory work, Nigeria will leap to stardom.. !

Buhari, Worst President Nigeria Has Ever Had Since 1999, Polls Reveal

Source: saharareporters.com

Over 48,000 Nigerians on social media have voted President Muhammadu Buhari as the worst president Nigeria has ever had since the return to democracy in 1999.

SaharaReporters had organized online polls on Facebook and Twitter asking Nigerians on the social media to select their worst president the country has ever had.

Twitter had the three ex-presidents that had ruled the country; Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Musa Yar’adua and Goodluck Jonathan along with the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.

On Facebook, the poll had only Olusegun Obasanjo and Muhammadu Buhari.

The poll had a total of 28,000 votes on Twitter and 49,000 votes on Facebook. The two polls unilaterally produced President Buhari as the winner with a wide margin between him and next person on the poll.

WHO IS NIGERIA'S WORST PRESIDENT?
@AsoRock@NGRPresident
— Sahara Reporters (@SaharaReporters),
June 27, 2019

Of the 49,000 votes on SaharaReporters' Facebook poll, President Buhari had the highest number of votes as the worst president the country has ever produced since the advent of democracy in 1999 with 29,000 votes.
On the other hand, ex-president Obasanjo had a total vote of 20,000.

Some Facebook users gave reasons for their vote.

Ayodele Oluwafemi said, “Who is PMB to even compare him with Obj in the committee of superpowers? It's such a shameful thing to do. Haba! What contribution did PMB make to Nigeria except take an appointment of a tyrant like him as PDTF Chairman.”

Jude Ola said, “Buhari is a disaster to Nigeria... in fact the meaning of Buhari is poverty and bad luck... it shall never be well with the generations of those who impose Buhari to us... I came home last year for vacation, I spend two week and I'm in haste to go back to another man's land where I found peace of mind.”

Iyke Eze stated, “The difference is very clear, never you compare a failure to OBJ.”

John Goodluck said, “Buhari is the worst president that ever happened to Nigeria, he is a cow that keeps on blaming his parents for his failure in life.”

Sotunde Olasile M. Samuel, “I think many people here don't know that OBJ had the greatest opportunity to put Nigeria on the right track, out of selfish interest, he didn't. Now, he created, raised and opened the eyes of this thieves and many are expecting someone who met corrupted blueprints to do wonders, hhhhmmmm, how I wish. #LetCallOnGod. #Naija.”

Of the 28,000 social media users that voted on the Twitter poll, 68% voted for President Buhari while Jonathan, his predecessor, had 22% of votes.

Yar’Adua had the least vote with only 280 votes.
The breakdown of the poll showed Buhari poll 19,040 votes while Jonathan got 6,160 votes.

On his part, Obasanjo received 2,520 votes (9% of the votes) while Yar’Adua had only 1% of the votes.
Some of the reasons given for their votes were insecurity, inability to develop the economy.

Tajudeen said, “The fact still remains, Buhari was given a broken country with no means of surviving: collapsed economy; collapsed security; collapsed infrastructure; collapsed refinery; borrowing to pay salaries and 23 states unable to pay too.”

N. O. J @owolabi4r said, “I choose OBJ.....Obj started the government in 1999 and he should have make things right now what is bad making June12 democracy day and a lot of things you should have change.I have a question for him.

Why did our senators take home money so much like that.”

Bolaji C. Adedayo @0110883 said, “The Presidents are not bad...the citizens are worst! Reason; They keep making mistakes at every election... electing thieves! Selling their votes! Allowing taxi drivers and senseless school dropouts to control the future of their children! Eventually, a terrible leaders comes.”

Abdurrauf Ishaq @Itz_ishaq_alraf said, “PMB follow by Jonathan next to him Obasanjo n YAR ADUA is not supposed to be here cuz YAR ADUA’s administration is the best we have ever have since from independence to date. in fact from colonial masters to date non like UMARU #RIPMENTOR.”

The Twitter poll was done thrice due to some errors in the questions.

(See insert: Worst President, Polls 1 and 2).

Noteworthy is it that President Buhari received the highest votes in the other polls as shown in the screenshots of the polls before it was taken down.

To the surprise of many Nigerians, Dr. Bukola Saraki donates his N7.5million severance pay as Senate President to the family of Leah Sharibu, Hauwa Lima and others who have been victims of Boko Haram killings

He decided that 20 per cent of the severance allowance is to be donated to the family of Ms Sharibu while 20 per cent is also to be paid to the family of Hauwa Liman, the aid worker brutally murdered by Boko Haram after she was captured.

Another 20 per cent is to be donated to the family of the second aid worker, Hussaini Khoisan, also murdered in the same circumstance by Boko Haram.

The remaining 40 per cent should be used by the National Assembly Management to set up a Trust fund that will assist children of deceased members of the Eighth Senate who are in financial need for their education

What do you say of him on this?
