Now, payment of bride price is what renders traditional marriage legal. All other things are just ceremonial. No law or custom can obligate a man (or woman for that matter) to be responsible for the burial of in-laws. That's exploitation and an overreach.

Igbo culture will ask intending husbands to pay for all the expenses spent on their daughters before marrying or owning her, but after marriage will still ask the husband to help train their other siblings, build house for wife's parents and help with medical and other expenses of the parents. Who told you I was buying rickety vehicles. The irony is that the only "rickety" vehicle I bought which was actually the first vehicle I bought for the business is the strongest and most reliable. It was a 2006 Mitsubishi L200 I got at scrap price. Spent less than N300k on it and it has been working for 5 years. I have only changed the engine once. The remaining more recent models are not as strong.

Now, how long you car engine last depends on a number of factors, like usage, maintenance and regular oil change. My vehicles work every day for for 8 to 10 hours modays to Fridays, sometimes Saturdays and public holidays. Incidentally they go to Awoyaya (dangote refinery) and Epe from V/I everyday. Most people in that particular line of business change engines or at least change rings every two to three years.

Many multinational and big companies sell of their vehicles every 5 - 7 years and replace them brand new ones to avoid maintenance wahala.

This is because imported petrol is the poorest possible grade of blended petrol, while NNPC insists Dangote's petrol must be to European standard. Malta does not have a refinery. It only has blending facilities. If Dangote is allowed to also blend his petrol, his would be far cheaper than that imported from Malta.
