EFCC do a bit too much & some of their raids are a bit unconventional but that does not make their operations illegal. The issue is Yahoo boys like you who are on a vandetta against EFCC think everyone else should share your delusion which is not possible.I wish the alleged yahoo doctor all the best in court.
That you find going from house to house in the middle of the night, breaking down doors looking for Yahoo boys, and without just cause or court warrant as legal is shocking to me.

Police cannot stop EFCC from performing their duty.EFCC do not have to take clearance from the police to carry out their constitutional duty. The police may be protecting yahoo boys in that particular locality.
These are the grey areas or should I say cloudy areas in the constitution. Is the EFCC a law unto itself? Can the EFCC outside the control of the police, the judiciary and the state governor who is supposed to be the chief security officer of the state? If so then are all other security agencies, ie NDLEA, Civil defence, DSS, etc, laws unto themselves with no control from any other body?
In the US, the federal police must inform the state and sometimes local police before operations and arrests can be carried out, and with valid court order.

This is really a very interesting case let's see how it's going to end up with a good lawyer the doctor can get just a few years in jail instead of a death sentence. Hope this will teach efcc operatives some lessons breaking into the homes of nigerians like armed robbers without any court warrant at midnight is not professional it only makes the efcc looks very primitive.
Why will he get a few years in jail? What crime did the doctor commit according to our statutes? Strange People without notice broke down down his door in the middle of the night and gained unauthorised access into his family home, and he had access to a gun. What would you have done in his place.

The only crime he can be charged with is having an unauthorised gun, which he claimed was registered by his father. The issue then becomes what the gun is doing in his house.

The doctor might well have used a knife or poured acid on the intruders if those are the items available to him at that particular time, and he would have been justified.

You like your yahoo doctor colleague may have a vandetta against EFCC but the law works on evidence. At no point did the EFCC agents fire at the defendant.I wish him the best in court.
The EFCC did not need to fire at the defendant before he defends himself using any means necessary. The EFCC official breaking down his door in the middle of the night without warnings or prior notice and without a search warrant is enough justification.
Luckily the guy seems rich and from a rich background, so the case would take its regular legal course.

The law of Self Defense states that you give only as much as you receive. You can’t shoot someone that slaps you or attacks you with a knife. It has to be equal and you only shoot WHEN SHOT AT to prove self defense. Let’s not be buoyed by what we watch on Tv. Moreover, the firearm was licensed to the Father and NOT THE SON. Firearms licenses are not transferable and the license states that it’s for “hunting” and not for domestic use so that License theory is in the toilet too. If I were the Doctor, I would’ve fired a warning shot and if I’m shot at, then I can do direct damage but the deed has been done. My condolences to all parties involved. I hope this fiasco doesn’t cause a rift between the Doctors association and the FG. The EFCC on the other hand need to do better in terms of training and retraining of their staff. This was an avoidable fracas.
You are talking a whole load of horse shit. Someone broke into your estate and your home in the middle of the night, breaking down your front door without any justification, and you are talking about warning shots and "give only as much as you receive"? Self defense when you feel your life or that of your family is in danger by which ever means is a basic fundamental "animal" instinct. You minimise the illegality of EFCC raids without any legal backing as a case of training and retraining, it is not. Its borders on criminality itself.
Apart from the operation itself being illegal, the EFCC banned midnight raids just over a year ago. Why then was a small group of EFCC officials raiding a whole neighbourhood in the middle of the night?

It’s the tragedy of Nigeria.
Illegality upon illegality.

EFCC raid a suspect, like thieves in the night, with no safety gear, no warrant.

Suspect shoots without thinking, with an illegal gun.

Operative gets rushed to hospital, no doctor. A whole govt hospital, 0 doctors and 2 nurses?
The were after soft targets that were not expected to have guns or put up any defence. Nigerian security operatives apart from the Nigerian army would never attack terrorists, drug cartels or violent criminals in such manner.

They arrived Awka very early to the first home of suspected fraudsters, successfully raided and arrested several persons with exhibits, including credit cards and four luxurious vehicles,

They then set out to visit another location but reportedly found that they were short-staffed and relocated to a smaller location.

When the EFCC operatives arrested the first set of suspected "yahoo boys" the police in Awka waylaid them and delayed the operatives, claiming they did not seek permission before coming to their jurisdiction to carry out such operation

They then set out to visit another location but reportedly found that they were short-staffed and relocated to a smaller location.

Upon arriving there, it was a location with several apartments. So they told the gatemen to point them to the place of the person they suspected.

He refused to open his door, apparently suspecting they might be robbers or kidnappers.

The EFCC team proceeded to break into his apartment and the suspect opened fire on the lead person; an EFCC operative known as Salisu.
Are we living in a jungle? Don't citizens have any rights in this country any more? Even under military regimes, it was never this bad, where security officials raid a whole estate or neighbourhood breaking people's gates, fences and doors, and branding them criminals without any court order or arrest warrant.
What is the NBA doing about this blatant abuse of citizens rights? What are civil society organisations doing? Even the courts seems complacent or even accomplice in human rights abuses of Nigerians.

You are surprised a married man that the wife just gave birth was wanking off? shows you are too young, have too low sex drive or never married. You don't understand the science and art of "Konji". Obviously, he was unable to "release "himself" during his wife's pregnancy, and she is likely to be unavailable for a few months after delivery.

The tragic part is him committing suicide. He must have some serious mental issues apart from "Konji" to go that far.

You don't truly love her enough or you'd love her child too. And if you can't love her and her child more, please move on and go marry someone else instead of making her miserable in future.
I vehemently disagree with you on this. He should not be forced or guilt tripped into taking responsibility he is not obliged to. That he loved the lady does not mean he should also take responsibility for her child. If he elects to, fine, but he should never be forced to. The lady should look for the baby daddy and let him take responsibility, except the lady was raped, she should know who she slept with.
In the alternative, her family should take responsibility for the upkeep of the child, afterall they are all related by blood.
Starting a relationship with such responsibility could be very emotionally and financially stressful on a young man. If the lady insist on taking the baby along with the bath, and he feels he is not ready to, he should waka.

Let them desl with themselves. I wonder what a yoruba man is looking for in Rivers state
It seems Lere Olayinkan don't know the extent of his job description. He is Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication to the FCT and not to Wike in his personal capacity. He must learn to comment on issues pertaining to the FCT and not to insert himself into Wike's family, clan or state issues. He is certainly not qualified to comment on Rivers State matters as he is neither from Rivers State nor an official of Rivers State.
EducationRe: Is Nigeria Certificate Useful Outside The Country? by wirinet(m): 2:04pm On Dec 27, 2024
cjudy:
Well, I think there’s misunderstanding between both of you. The op said if you can apply directly with your Nigeria degree and the answer is yes but first, you must take a level of exam to acquire a license and practice as one. You can’t just move to Western Countries and start operating, you must undergo some processes.
So I believe both of you misunderstood yourselves
The argument is irrelevant. Obtaining certification to practice in different countries is different from recognition of the certificate itself. Even in Nigeria obtaining a degree does not necessarily make you an accountant, a doctor or a lawyer, it is certification by relevant bodies that makes you a professional and obtain jobs as one. If you switch countries, common sense dictates that you must obtain the country's relevant certification in order to practice as a professional. It even goes further in the US, you sometimes need state certification to practice in another state.

Igbo have mountains, low lands and dense forest fertile forests

with fruits and everything they needed

yams used to grow on their own in the forest all we do is go harvest them

Igbo believe that yam is a God given dish we respect it thats why we set out a day to celebrate it

same with peppers and other vegetables

it's the reason why an Igbo diet is nutritionally rich with vegetables and different kinds of garni

Igbos are not alien to Rivers, lakes, lagoons, streams and streams we have them in abundant

infact Igbo people made one of the largest boats recorded then by the whites that came here

Igbo flourished and our population exploded
and spreading out to the west occupying 40% of Delta State space and second largest ethnic group there some further spread southward into Rivers some even further into Bayelsa forming parts of towns like Osekwenike and further east to cross River boarders and Benue some even in Kogi state

So yeah, our reach is a testament of an explosion of population that lead to our spread
Go and read what geographical features gave rise to ancient Civilisations like mesopotamia/Babylonia, Egyptian, Roman, Greek, etc. You will find the Igbos have non.

Which mountain dey igboland? Ordinary hill sef, una no get, e come remain mountain.
Una get ocean, great river, fertile lands? Forests are the hardest places for agriculture due to obvious reasons. That's why the agricultural revolution started in savannahs or semi desert areas.

Ancient Civilisations rise due to trade, agriculture or warfare. If truly you had a Civilisation stretching 4000 years, your would have conquered or at dominated all around you, if not all of Nigeria by now.

My home town was the first place the Nigerian soldiers invaded

Nsukka, my grandfather and his people were in the shrine when they came

They didn’t kill a single soul

The Nigerian soldiers left them and advanced to another side
But most of the people killed or brutally murdered were northerners with a few South Westerners and mid westerners, no igbo politician or senior military officer was touched.

You got what happened till you got to Ojukwu. Ojukwu was supposed to leave the army since a junior officer in the person of Gowon had taken over government. Ojukwu insisted of staying but trying to change the system where Nigeria would run close a confederate system. In such system he might have nothing to do with Gowon. He would be in charge of Eastern Nigeria and perhaps only pay tax to Nigeria. Gowon initially agreed to this plan because he was afraid of the East. But some knowledgeable Nigerians like the SFG then who later became the Oba of Benin advised Gowon against this plan. Gowon later withdrew from an agreement he had signed in Aburi Ghana in support of this while Ojukwu insisted on the signed agreement.
Britain was tacitly supporting Gowon. It now became a show of whoever had the superior might should have their way. At the end with the superior gun power of Nigeria with the support of Britain, Russia and the Arab world including Niger Republic and Egypt brought Biafra to her knees.
Ojukwu had no rights to insist on anything. Why? because he had no such power or authority. Nigeria was already operating a loose confederation whereby all regions was semi autonomous and financially independent. It was his fellow tribesman, General Ironsi that destroyed than confederacy and financial independence in the first place. Ojukwu just wanted power. He could have insisted on a return to the 1959 constitution which was negotiated and agreed to by representatives of the regions.

It wasn't SGF that advised Gowon, actually it was the USA through shell petroleum agents. Because there was previous interviews where Ojukwu ran his mouth on how he was going to tax oil producing company.
