PoliticsRe: How To Strip the Oil License Off Alakija , Otedola , Tinubu etc by wirinet(m): 9:25pm On Jun 24, 2018
ednut1:
Every OML in nigeria is effectively owned by nigerian govt. Nnpc and its subsidiaries have at least 51% of each oil mining licence (OML). The remaining 49% is usually shared by oda companies. Oml is granted to companies for 5-20 years, with option for renewal. The main issue here is FG has over 100 oml which dey own 51%, and dey still get tax of 85% for joint venture/50% for production sharing contract. Yet there is poverty. May God punish our govt o. D oil block alakija owns today was rejected by the top oil companies, abeg Op y ur village pple no go apply for amhuh She spent money for years before d tin blow, she still pay 85% tax on the 30 something percent she owns. Do u know how much adenuga spent in ondo before he hit oilhuh Do u know how many oda spent millions of dollars and didnt hit any oilhuh. If govt was doing its job no one go remember these guys. Are pple in dubai complaining about the few billionaires in dubaihuh Nope cos govt is doing a good job. I pity the ND sha, i flew over d creeks in january almost all d rivers and land was polluted. No fish no farm land. Oil go finish one day
You get time to waste trying to educate lazy illiterate youths. They think owning and successfully operating an oil block is like a tout collecting money from bus drivers. Oil business is a highly risky business and I have known people who had lost all they had by venturing into oil business.

First of all to even know if there is oil in any given place, one would need to apply for an oil prospecting licence at millions of dollars, then one needs to bring in experts from abroad and rent sophisticated seismic equipments to start prospecting for the oil, costing millions of dollars per week. You might need to dig several Wells before striking oil in commercial quantity.

After striking oil, you go back to NNPC and DPR to apply for oil mining licence. This licence permits you to actually drill the oil. The licence also cost millions of dollars. You then rent a rig with its associated specialists costing another millions of dollars per week to begin the actual drilling. Please note that there are other myriads of problems from community issues to corrupt local and state government issues.
At the end of the day, the oil profit is shared between the government and the oil block owners or investors.
The risks can be mitigated if you have powerful foreign investors with technical knowhow and deep pockets.

The oil business almost ruin MKO Abiola.

Why only looters? What of cultists, murderers, terrorists, kidnappers and so on, doesn't the FG need to negotiate with them also. Why reward one set of criminals and punish another set. Oh I remember, looters are big men and so operate a separate law than others crimes are committed by the small man.

Come.... are you a member of MKO's family? shocked Or why is this matter causing you such pain, that you can't think straight? huh And the way you keep chanting the phrase "sophisticated morrons," shows that the term must be part of your surname, not so?
These IPOB youths cry more than the bereaved. MKO family did not complain over popular protest at renaming Unilag after Abiola, his kinsmen did not complain, but IPOB youths are eternally pained.

Now that Abiola family and majority of Yorubas are happy over the national award giving abiola and recognition of June 12 as an important date in the history of Nigeria, IPOB youths are equally pained.

Every thing to them is about Jonathan vs Buhari, their trauma over Jonathan's loss seem to be getting more serious by the day, LASMA start guarding the length and breath of third mainland bridge, some people might start jumping into the lagoon.

Jonathan attempted to honour Abiola without any consultation with the family of Abiola or Lagosians in general. That could be done only under a military regime. He was too politically naive to use June 12 for political capital.
Buhari on the otherhand consulted with prominent Yoruba leaders and the family of Abiola before he acted. Furthermore he did not make it only an Abiola affair, he also leveraged on popular Yoruba heros like Gani Fawehinmi, and gave it a national facade by bringing in kingibe. Too bad he did not include Henry Nwosu.

It's all politics.

It's Yorubas that care too much about what Igbos do in their own land. It only takes Nnamdi Kanu to wave a Biafran flag in Umuahia for a Yoruba man in Ibadan to start foaming in the mouth
You lie. If kanu can wave his flag in Umuahia without mentioning Yoruba or calling Yorubas all sorts of names like Bastards, cowards, Yoruba, etc; believe me the Yorubas would not take notice of him.

[s]You're a liar and I'm done arguing with you]

Here is the full text of the speech and its analysis...

THE SPEECH
To recap, on Sunday the 5th of April 2015, a group of Igbo leaders paid Oba Akiolu a courtesy visit. During the visit, the king advised the Igbo community to vote for his candidate Akinwunmi Ambode in the forthcoming gubernatorial election. He warned the Igbos that if they did not vote for his candidate, they would perish in the river within seven days. He said that the Igbos would prosper in the state if they heeded to his instructions. He pointed out that when the Igbos came to Lagos, they did not have houses but now they have properties. During the speech, Oba Akiolu also made reference to God and the ancestors of Lagos and swore in the name of Allah that the Igbos will die if they disobeyed him. He also warned the Igbos that they must not do in Lagos what they can’t do in Onitsha and Aba otherwise they will perish.
The comments made by Oba Akiolu has all the hallmarks of an extreme form of hate speech bordering on an incitement to commit genocide against the Igbos resident in Lagos State. The king’s speech dehumanized the Igbos and they appear to have been singled out for PDPs strong showing in Lagos during the recently concluded general election. This is despite the fact that people of other nationalities also voted for PDP and the actions of OPC probably dissuaded people from coming out en-mass to vote for APC due to fear of violence. The assertion that Igbos came to Lagos without houses and now have houses can be construed to be a threat that their properties are not safe if they go against the king’s wishes. In addition the statement that Igbos will perish in water is inflammatory and could possibly lead to violence. The speech breaches Chapter IV Section 34 of the Nigerian Constitution which states, “Every individual is entitled to respect for the dignity of his person, and accordingly -- no person shall be subject to torture or to inhuman or degrading treatment.” It also breaches Article 25 (3) (e) of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, which states that a person who “directly and publicly incites others to commit genocide” has committed a crime against international law. While Article III of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide states “Direct and public incitement to commit genocide” is a punishable event.
Did you go to night school or you passed your WAEC using expo?

I provide quotes (in quotation marks) stating the exact words of Oba Akiolu, and you said I lied. Instead you provided a third party report of what the Oba said and meant, and then erroneously labelled it THE SPEECH. Where is the speech in what you wrote and who was making the speech?
The Oba's original speech is all over youtube, so it should be quite easy to hear the oba's own voice and see if he actually used the word Igbo.

Now, I accept that the words of the Oba is out of place in a modern democracy and needed to be warned. You cannot use threats ( subtle or real) to force anyone to vote for your preferred candidate. He even went to far by saying Jimi Agbaje cannot be Governor for now. He was insinuating that the sole right to install a governor in Lagos state lies with him.

Having said the Above, you cannot prosecute the Oba for instigating genocide or violence in any court. He simply said anybody that goes against him would drown inside the lagoon. He never said that he would kill or order his people to kill anyone inside the lagoon. He could say, it is the spirit of of ancestors that will drown anyone that opposes him. It is like an Igbo king cursing anyone that opposes him with death from amadioha or his ancestors. If you know how the legal system works, you cannot convict a person based on spiritual or implied threats.

You are over exaggerating the Oba's subtle treats, maybe as excuse for any hate speech, insults or treats by any of your kinsmen in the future. The Oba of Lagos is only the Oba of Lagos Island. His influence does not even extend to Victoria Island (Iru Land), not to talk of Ikorodu, Eye or Badagary, so how can the Oba of Lagos threaten all the Igbos in all of Lagos?

Terrible defense. Mr Ocherome was obviously referring to Yorubas when he said sophisticated morons. You need to read the chat again in the context of the discussion.

If you are too lazy to use Google to search for the contentious statement of Oba Akiolu prior to the 2015 elections, I will help you. I know Nigerian youths are renowned to be lazy.

Here is the report;

“On Saturday, if anyone of you goes against the Ambode I picked, that is your end. If it doesn’t happen within seven days, just know that I’m a bastard and it is not my father who born me,” Mr. Akiolu told the gathering."

"The one you have done before, he’s my son. Jonathan is my son and I speak to him every day. But, this Saturday, by the grace of God almighty Allah, I am the owner of Lagos and the owner of this…for the time being.”

"On Saturday, if anyone of you, I swear in the name of God almighty Allah, goes against my wish that Ambode, insha Allahu, will be the next governor of Lagos State, the person is going to die inside this water.”

"I’m not ready to beg, appeal to anybody o. And that’s why Asiwaju and the governor said, I said that is your own. Even the two of them they cannot disobey me. Nobody knew how I picked Ambode. Jimi (Agbaje) is my blood relation and I told him in a plain language he can never be governor in Lagos for now."
Please note, the Igbos leaders at the end of the speech applauded the Obas speech. It was those who were hundreds or even thousands of miles away in foreign capitals that were screaming the loudest.

Now, tell me where the Oba said he will kill Igbos or order the killing of Igbos.

The man in question is not a politician neither is he seeking for votes. He freely expressed his emotions as an already known anti Buhari, anti North, anti Yoruba.
If he is a known anti North and anti Yoruba, he has no business heading the editorial board of a national newspaper.
He should simply resign and head radio Biafra.

You cannot expect him to be happy with what he felt would cajole the Yorubas to vote in Buhari for a 2nd term. He expressed his bigotry privately as a private individual, without the anonymity that Nairaland affords us all.
The Yorubas are not obliged to make any igbo man happy. This is democracy. The Yorubas collectively or individually have the right to vote anybody they like. An igbo man should never insult other tribes from exercising their democratic rights.

I would be posting an expose on him later today, if I get the chance. But I'm hardly moved by his comments knowing how passionate he is about the failures of Buhari, and the aspirations for Biafra.
As I said he should resign from Vanguard and join a Biafra supporting media outfit.

PoliticsRe: National Assembly Lists Resolutions After Marathon Meeting by wirinet(m): 6:03am On Jun 06, 2018
boman2014:
After marathon meeting between the House of
Representatives and the Senate, the National Assembly on Tuesday listed conditions for peace between the legislature and the executive arms of government.

The lawmakers, arising from the over two hours closed
meeting, also threatened to invoke their constitutional
powers should the President fail to adhere to the
resolutions as they passed a vote of no confidence on
the Inspector General of police, Idris Ibrahim.

Here are the resolutions:

Senate President Bukola Saraki reports that at the joint
session, the National Assembly resolved as follows:

1. The Security Agencies must be given marching orders to contain all the sustained killings of Nigerians
and protect the lives and properties of Nigerians — as
this is the primary duty for any responsible government.

2. The systemic harassment by the executive of perceived political opponents — people with contrary
opinions in the legislature and the judiciary — by the
police and other security agencies must stop.

3. There must be strict adherence to the rule of law and protection for all citizens by the President and all his appointees.

4. The President must be held accountable for the
actions of his appointees and must be ready to sanction, those that carry out any act, that will ridicule
or endanger the country and our democracy.

5. The government should show sincerity in the fight
against corruption by not being selective and also
prosecute current appointees that have cases pending
against them.

6. The sanctity of the National Assembly should be
protected and preserved by the federal government and
prosecute those who invaded the Senate to seize the
mace.

7. Democratic elections must be competitive and inclusive by removing the current reign of fear and
intimidation — particularly as we approach the
forthcoming 2019 elections.

8. The National Assembly will liaise with the
international community through the IPU, the APU,
ECOWAS Parliament, Pan-African Parliament, EU, US
Congress and the United Nations to secure our democracy. The National Assembly will also engage
with civil society organizations trade unions and NGOs
to further deepen and protect our democracy.

9. The President must take immediate steps to curtail
the growing level of poverty and unemployment in
Nigeria — especially now that we have an advantage
of high oil prices.

10. Both chambers of the National Assembly hereby
pass a vote of confidence on the Senate President, the
Speaker and the entire leadership of the National
Assembly.

11. We also hereby reaffirm our earlier resolution on
the vote of no confidence on the Inspector General of
Police, who does nothing but preside over innocent
Nigerians with an outright disregard for constitutional
authority of both the executive and the legislature.

12. The National Assembly will not hesitate to invoke
its constitutional powers if nothing is done to address
the above resolutions passed today.

https://www.tori.ng/news/98232/breaking-news-national-assembly-list-resolutions-a.html
Out of all the 12 resolutions, only two are directed at the masses - resolutions 1 and 9, which to me were just put there to deceive the masses. The main goal of the resolutions is to protect first the Senate president and the the whole national assembly from the IG, by using the threat of impeachment.

The whole purpose of the resolutions can be summarised by the last two resolutions which I bolded.

Very selfish set of animals. Only PDP and it's allies will support them in their useless and selfish mission.

You want Buhari to leave all the thousands of important problems besetting Nigeria at the moment and inaugurate a committee to ascertain the state of the stoves and distribute 200,000 stoves freely within all the 744 local governments in Nigeria.
Are you aware that the stoves have been lying there for 3 years, so rust and degradation would have affected the stoves. The committee would then restore the stoves before transporting and distributing them.

If a contract is terminated and the contractor feels he had done more work than he had been paid up till that point. it is left for the contractor to ask for reconciliation and balance of work already executed.

yes I am because all probes by the NA has come up empty.
Even in the article you pasted from daily trust, did you miss these lines;

Daily Trust investigation however revealed that while only 15 per cent of the contract sum was paid to the contract, records at the ministry showed that about 40 per cent of the contract sum had been paid out.

Following the mobilisation, our checks revealed that the contractor had procured and brought into the Velodrome at the National Stadium over 200,000 pieces of the clean cook stoves including mini LPGs, Stove 80, Envirofit among others.

The ministry was to follow up on the issuance of waiver to the company for the procurement but this was also terminated and as a result over 500,000 pieces of the stoves are currently being held at one of the ports in Lagos.

A staff of the bank who pleaded anonymity told Daily Trust that, “We were shocked when we saw the letter from the ministry but the contractor was able to bring evidence to the bank of work done so far and certified by officials of the ministry.”

A directorate staff at the accounts department in the ministry who also didn’t want to be mention told Daily Trust that the going on in the ministry regarding the stoves showed clearly that the stoves would never get to the rural women.

“The contractor is subjected to all sorts of abuses and ridicule because he has refused to ‘cooperate’ and if things continue this way, I’m sure they will never be paid,” the source said, “The contractor was asked to bring in a little less number of the stoves than what was contained in the contract but his refusal has pitched him against the minister who has only few days left in the ministry and the permanent secretary who has taken charge of the whole affair,” the staff said.

Effort to reach the contractor was not successful as he was said to have relocated from his office in the Central Business District in Abuja.

Biko read with understanding. The contract was for the procurement of 750000 stoves.

Here is vanguard's own version of events as reported 'as e dey happen' in 2014 and not some APC lawmaker cooked up tales.

So your okpokoro head actually believed that gas stoves can be supplied at the rate of N452 per stove? ?

Buhari let those stoves rot away man, with his go-slow nature.
So you want Buhari to pay over N7.8 billion for a useless contract (I would say scam contract) that your hero awarded in the last days of his administration?

What do you want Buhari to do with the stoves, even if we ignore the fact that the whole contract is mired I controversy?

Did you see the link to the investigative journalism article by Daily Trust i posted? Agreed the initiative could have been conceived better but the actual contract was executed as agreed and no scam whatsoever took place.
Are you saying that with a straight face?

IPOB bureau of statistics in action
No, IPOB bureau of lies and exaggerations, they presented no statistics.

If Nigeria lost N224 billion in one day because some Igbos (not all) sat at home, then how much does Nigeria earn when igbos sit outside home. In a year Nigeria must make N224 X 365 billions = 81.76 trillion naira in a year from IPOB's igbos alone.
If we then add money made by Nigeria from all citizens of all tribes including foreigners, Nigeria must be the richest country in the world.
