Both population and landmass are important factors. Kano state population and land mass alone is more than the whole of south east. Having said that, the whole of South East should be a single state. But if the 5 states of South East should remain, states like kano should be divided into at least 10 states.

lol. Niger state is probably 15 times the size of Lagos but Lagos is 100 times more wealthier and more than 4 times more populated than Lagos. LAGOST IS THE SMALLEST STATE IN NIGERIA. Oyo state could be 6 times the whole of Lagos state. Lagos gdp triples the whole of SW and in population, Lagos is more populated than Ekiti, Ogun, ondo and osun put together.

State of Californias Gdp is twice that of the whole of Africa countries combined together. Hmmn

Nigeria is probably more than 50 times that of Israel but Israel with a population of of around 9 million has a Gdp bigger than that of big for nothing Nigeria.


Niger state is almost twice the size of the whole SE but the population of Anambra state alone is bigger than Niger state and Anambras Gdp is more than twice that of Niger state. The number of medical doctors in just one LGA in Anambra is higher than the whole of Niger state. And also note that the Ebonyi state which is the least developed but one of the fastest developing state in the SE is far more advanced than Niger in any development indices. Anambra or imo’s GDP ranked higher than that of oyo, boronu, niger etc with large land size.

Remember that it is not just by size and population but a strong human resource which no other region come close the east.

Lastly, we have seen in few days here that just the 5 states of the east are dominating in medicine, Engineering, computer scientist, Law etc than zones with even 6 states and 7 states. This is what we call Big for nothing. The power of DOT is beyond Naija.

ibibios are actually more populated than the ijaws. You can compare ijaws and urhobo or isoko. Ijaws are found in rivers, Ondo, delta and that does not mean that their population is high. Ijaws in those states mentioned are not upto 200k .Look at bayelsa, a state predominant with ijaws but the lowest population of any Nigerian state. They are about 2.5 million with a lot of other tribes there. I just read about Ese odo LGA in ondo state which is the main place for the jaws in that state. Their population there is about 150k from Wikipedia info. Bayelsa state is less than 2.5 million people with high population of isoki and urhobo communities carved into it. The population of ijaws should be around 2 million and unfortunately most communities in Bayelsa are denying been ijaws

is not a matter of crying here on nairaland, SE dominates all their 5 states and still have maximum metit in all federal universities and private universities in Nigeria. As I said, UNILAG, OAU etc has at least 15 to 30% of their students from SE. This is under Merit list meaning the 15to 20% top scorers of admitted students. As you say, no other proper universities aside of UNN, okay, that said, they will definitely rule your states where there are proper universities.may be that's while the three premier universities and institutions : Yaba tech, unilag, ui are all pioneered by Igbo vc’s,

Presently, covenant university se population would soon be more than the people of that region. There are more higher institutions in sw but Igbos are trouping there and soon will. …,,,,?

The difference here is that the Igbos are 97% in charge in their region due to high competition and they are taken seizable percentage in every other region esp sw and ss. They reduced that of the ne and nw due to banditry and are strong in nc.

Check admission list of UNN for 2024 you will not see a single yoruba man there.Now Check the admissions list of U.I,Convenant,OAU and Unilag and count the numbers of Igbo there.

That's under merit for SE students admission in sw schools. While SE universities are highly competitive with more qualified students, they tend to look for admission in sw and northern universities where they are able to be admitted under merit. Their sw counter rarely apply se universities because of fear of competition. Remember those Sch you mentioned are federal and private uni. The day sw uni will open up on merit, they will see influx of se students dominating in their state universities. Igbos are naturally born to take advantage of their opportunities with both hands.

Are u also counting over bloated number that UNN are admitting to study medicine? So u are counting the money induced numbers that UNN used to admit as part of the medical intake. The last I know, the number of quota for medicine there is less than 180, where did they come about 500 for medicine and 120 for dentistry. I learnt from some of their students that even with 200 in utme, u can gain admission to study medicine and dentistry so far u can pay. Even university of Ibadan with the highest quota don't admit as such. Let's see where MDCN come in.

funnily, 20% of SE students are from UNILAG. Lady and UI under merit list while other 15% are ftom ss, north and other sw states. This statistics are not just se students living in se but living in any part of Nigeria. 30% of medical students in this three states are of se origin and got in tru merit list.
If quota is removed from state universities in the north and west, I bet you will see 60% of medical students in sw state universities from se alone. This is the power of DOT, lol
