Boss13: @wislet, please I beg your pardon. What solutions do you want an average Nigerian to give to NOI. She is a Harvard graduate of economics, she has worked with the world bank and up to senior management level.

Now if she expects an average Nigerian to proffer solutions for her, then she is not expected to occupy that position (Minister of Finance). In order terms, she doesn't know what she is doing.

I do not insult her. I only demand more from her. I was highly optimistic when she was appointed and I felt for once that things would improve. However, I am shocked with the stories I am hearing; funds missing, poor budget implementation; colleagues buying exotic cars; diversion of funds; import waivers for items not existing. She should not be associated with things like these. A good reason I still respect Sanusi (even though he is sleeping with a married woman). I think she is always on the defensive, giving excuses for her incompetence and ignorance in handling the affairs of the economy.

I won't be surprised if she isn't bribing her buddies from the world bank and IMF to tell us that our GDP is improving and the status of things are declining. That inflation is single digit yet the price of garri and a bag of rice is pushing the ceiling and even the naira is devaluing itself.

In develop countries, they sack people for even tweeting derogatory words of which she is an offender and not to talk more of the leakages we are experiencing in this country.

I am hearing that the US govt would engage on its tapering measures soon. Only God knows what will happen to Nigeria, if the US begin to take out funds it has invested. How do we repay?
OH..........

YOU DO NOT SEE YOURSELF AS BEING CAPABLE OF ADVISING/PROFFERING ANY SOLUTIONS??

IF ALL THE 'OCCUPY NIGERIA' GROUP CAN DO IS SPEW INSULTS ON A SITTING MINISTER INSTEAD OF PROFFERING SOLUTIONS TO WHAT THEY TERM 'MISDEEDS', THEN I DO NOT THINK THEY HAVE/KNOW THE SOLUTION THEMSELVES.

But, TO LEAVE THE FLOOR OPEN,

'OCCUPY NIGERIA' GROUP

IF YOU ARE HERE ON NAIRALAND(BECAUSE I THINK IT'S SOME OF YOU THAT ARE HERE INSULTUNG HER PERSON)

WHY DON'T YOU GIVE A CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM RIGHT NOW BY TELLING THE NIGERIAN POPULACE THE SOLUTION(S) TO THE PROBLEMS YOU HIGHLIGHTED TO THE MINISTER.

I am not on anybody's side, but I know one thing: A PROBLEM SOLVER PROFFERS POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS TO A PROBLEM AND NOT TALK SO MUCH WITH NO SINGLE SOLUTION.

THAT METHOD YOU KNOW IS THE WAY TO SALVAGING THE COUNTRY'S ECONOMY THAT YOU THINK SHE DOESN'T KNOW, TYPE IT HERE SO INTELLIGENT NIGERIANS WILL SEE IF YOU KNOW ECONOMICS AND WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT, AND THEY WILL REPLY YOU .

AS YOU ANSWER, KINDLY QUOTE THIS COMMENT SO WE'LL KNOW IT'S YOU THAT IS REPLYING.

NIGERIANS ARE WAITING.

IF YOU CANNOT, THEN YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO ADVISE ANYBODY.

Akby: It was a funny scenario yesterday... I and OccupyNaija are close friends on twitter and when she replied with the 'nabob of negativism' I quoted the tweet and tweeted 'really disappointed with you being a minister in Nigeria' you need to see the way she replied me and ontop that she 'Gbagauned' self. Nigeria is on the sinking ship of clueless and vulgar leaders. Is this how she replies her husband @ home cos addressing a Nigerian with abusive words is highly barbaric and naughty permit me to use that word
MR MAN, I DO NOT SEE ANY INSULT IN ALL HER REPLIES TO YOU.

You guys were being extremely NEGATIVE in the way you were deriding the economy of Nigeria. Why be so pessimistic? And that is Exactly what she pointed out- THAT YOU LOT WERE BEING PESSIMISTIC. Was that a lie?
Where is the insult then?
You are just struggling to make people see an insult where there is absolutely none.

Secondly, you told her you were disappointed in her as a minister and all she replied you was ''Okay, then why don't you bring in another, afterall she wasn't the only one capable of serving in that capacity''.

Where is the insult Mr? Or are you so filled with dislike for her you WANT to see an insult where there is none?

Check yourself very well.

ilugunboy: Very hard to fault those guys argument against the Minister.....Nigerians want tangible development reflected in ordinary homes, not developments on charts and power-point presentations.

As usual...the Ibos on NL will rather support the woman by insulting the Occupy Nigeria group.
THE OCCUPY NIGERIA GROUP DID NOT JUST STATE THEIR VIEWS ON NIGERIA'S ECONOMIC STATE, THEY INSULTED THE FINANCE MINISTER BY CALLING HER ''CO-ORDINATING MINISTER OF CORRUPTION''. Was that necessary?
Yet they reacted to her description of them by acting as if it was uncalled for/they did not deserve it.

What gave them the temerity to call her names? Someone old enough to be their mother. Why not address the issues without insulting her person?

Are those folks sure they have the interest of Nigeria at heart? Asking her to resign because they believe Nigeria is too corrupt a nation for anyone to want to help to salvage her economy? Sounds like they themselves have given up on Nigeria. Then what are they occupying? Talking down on Nigeria. what do they mean by saying that if the World Bank President himself was to come to Nigeria he too cannot salvage the economy because Nigeria is too corrupt a nation to be helped?? Is that how concerned citizens talk? Yet, if they are given the mantle to do it, they might not be able to do anything at all.

They know what they are occupying. I don't think it's Nigeria's interest.

Ermmm......not here to argue, but just wanna point out something to you sir.

It is not how long one reads the scriptures that determine if they are qualified to be teachers or if they understand the interpretation of the scriptures themselves.

The Pharisees, the teachers of the Law were Bible scholars long before the Lord Jesus was born. Yet, when he grew up and taught the scriptures, they thought he was committing blasphemy.

Understanding the word of God is not measured by how many years you keep looking at/reading it, understanding comes through revelation by the Holy Spirit.

So.... The Redemption plan of the Lord Jesus excluded Mary? You are all trying to say that the Lord Jesus came to die for everybody else on earth except her....cos she was without sin? Really??
Why didn't Jesus worship her then? Is there anywhere it's written He did? We'd love to know pls.
The fact that God favoured her to be the one to give birth to the Lord meant she was without sin? It meant she was soooo holy she was the only one qualified?

Is that what you think or are being taught?

She was sooo holy she was not part of the sin of Adam? She was not born of man but dropped 'hollily' from the skies?

Are YOU sure about that? Or you swallow teachings without seeking knowledge from God's word?

Not gonna argue the word with anybody...but, no one will use another person as an excuse that he was taught anything. The Bible is there for you to read for yourself, and the Holy Spirit is there to give you understanding.

NOW WE SEE HOW LILLY-LIVERED MOST NIGERiANS ARE. IT's really disappointing. YOU CANNOT STAND UP AND DEFEND YOUR RIGHTS, AND EVEN WHEN SOMEONE ELSE STANDS TO DO IT FOR YOU, YOU TURN AROUND TO BETRAY THEM?
What is so wrong in clamouring for a better educational system for Nigerians? And yet, see the people whose children's future are being fought for, running their mouths all over the place.

At this rate, it remains to be seen how your schools will turn out to be in the coming years...with the dilapidated facilities and structure. You don't just stop to think.

Are Nigerians even worth this fight? When people don't value their own future?

Travel and see how your own schools are supposed to be. Yet, you can't demand the same to happen for your own country and for your children to enjoy? Not as if your country cannot afford it. No, just that you have a lot of cowards who cannot stand for their rights.

IF EVERY ETHNIC GROUP SHOULD MARRY INTO ANOTHER, WHO WOULD THEN BE LEFT TO UPHOLD YOUR CULTURE AND TRADITION?

These arguments are just pointless.

BESIDES, even if you all argue from now till tomorrow, what is on ground will still remain on ground: Igbo men and women prefer to marry one another.

Don't try to bring in western civilization here. Please, Whoever said you should forsake your people just because you acquired an education?? Is that what being educated now means to some folks?

Marry from your own, that is the Best. You know what to expect and understand yourselves. You were brought up in a certain way from when you were a kid, do you think it would be easy to learn to use the fork at old age?

It is this our tendency of attempting to be wiser that our fathers that is turning the world into chaos.

Not marrying en masse into another ethnic group DOES NOT mean you hate them. It will not bring business partnerships or co-existence to a halt. It will not make you love your neighbour any less.

Marriage is a different thing entirely- it should not be based on sentiments.

People instinctively want their children to marry from within their culture group.
Because Igbos must be talked about.

WHAT IS IT WITH NFF AND NIGERIAN COACHES?

Is it that they relish victimizing every coach that heads the super eagles?

What is it really? This is a question that should be asked by every Nigerian and they(NFF) should give a reply.

Why try to make every super eagles coach unhappy? Why at loggerheads with them every time? Why can't they allow them to breathe and do their job well? Why always breathing down their necks?

Every newly appointed coach (indigenous coaches in particular) must have one bitter experience with them or another? Do they have a thing against indigenous coaches? Why do they have 'foreign' at the tip of their tongues all the time? Why do they prefer a foreigner above their own people?

Plus, the salary of a foreign coach would be paid as and when due, yet a local coach's (who is paid much less) will be withheld and we'll claim there's no money?

Hmmmmmmmmm!

he has since paid me the money but i wasted a year of masters study and lied to my father.
pls i need an advice as to what to do. i havent started my masters yet. plan to do dt next year.
i didnt state why he broke up. we broke up cos he is nt ready to marry in the nxt two years. he is nt even sure when he wants to marry. pleasw house, i need an advice as i have been crying all day and almost going mad.
Was listening one time to a christian tape on relationships and the Preacher said,"Do not think about how long you have stayed in a relationship. What is important is the marriage where you will have joy, fulfilment and peace". "Many people think only of how long they have dated. Someone would say, "I have been with him for 8 years...when you remember that you will spend more than 40 years of your life with whoever you marry, those numbers become insignificant. Is it better to marry that person because you think he MUST be the one for you(because he's your first love/because you courted for a long time) and find yourself miserable, OR you would rather look at the longer number of years ahead and marry the one you will be happy with?".

He concluded with," LEARN TO THINK MORE OF THE MORE(remaining years of your life) RATHER THAN THINKING MORE OF THE LESS(the number of years you dated)..

QED.

That is why it is not advisable to think someone is your all in all/your life. Human beings are bound to disappoint. You talk about almost going mad? Because of what..........?? You do not even try to see your future? You think that man is the best you will meet? My dear, face God and trust him. If He is a priority in your life He knows what He's working in your life...it's all for your good.

And next time, pleeeeassse, don't see your fellow human as your life. If you go mad, etc, they will still live on. What have you gained then? For whom did you make that sacrifice?
Romance › Re: Cooking For Your Boyfriend In His House: Is It Right Or Wrong? by Wislet(f): 4:11pm On Nov 27, 2013
Really, this topic doesn't call for the trading of insults. I believe it is adults that type these comments...why behave immaturedly? No matter how not in agreement with your beliefs another person's comment is, you can disagree and state yours devoid of name calling.

@topic, if it's sooo important for your man to see how good you can cook, and his parents have gotten to know who you are, as well as yours him, THEN wouldn't it be better to visit his family house, be with his mamma and cook with her or do it by yourself, then he can come to his parents' house and taste the food you cooked? Since all these men claim your cooking(FOOD) is the main criteria they are looking for, isn't that a good enough compromise?

And now you have determined she can cook what is edible, have you gone to marry her yet? Or..... Is she still supposed to go over to your exclusive house and cook with just you two alone so you will be VEEERY SURE? grin

Even after you were VEEERY SURE, years later how far? Still being sure??

Funny men.

Really. Going to market for you, washing, cooking etc for years....what is delaying you putting a ring on it?

Men can be funny. When that time reaches and this question is posed to them, you will still find most of them stammering and giving excuses. Smh.

See them like "she must prove she can cook". People wey like 'oshofree food' trying to convince us they have a strong point. Seriously guys? Hehehehe grin grin

Did someone say you cook for a man at his place, not to prove you are marriage material or get him to marry you, but because you CARE FOR HIS WELL-BEING?
Seriously?
The person that said that, I say YOU LIE.

Are you trying to convince us that you spend months and even YEARS of your life cooking, cleaning, etc JUST because you care for his well-being? Seriously? Then please, do it for all his single male friends too, and all your male friends who are single.

Some comments leave you dumbfounded.
Romance › Re: Cooking For Your Boyfriend In His House: Is It Right Or Wrong? by Wislet(f):
Enigma17: Now I can see why they say a wife is hard to find...You cannot cook for your b.f but you can ask him for financial assistance when needed..you want him to love you and take you to mama...Now I see why our churches are always filled with spinsters searching for husband... I salute our mothers they were the real women...Not these blackberries babes of today.
Don't talk ignorantly.

Our mothers did not go living with or cooking daily in their husbands' houses. As soon as it was determined she was wife material (especially by the man's mother or sisters), a visit was paid to her parents' house and her dowry paid. She was made a WIFE without much ado... And not the warped mentality of the men of today who think a woman should sleep with them or reside in their house with them or be their cook. To prove WHAT? Is that the way to prove it? And after all that is done, what next? Isn't it the same men that will see a girl that refused to do all that/refused to give them the time of day and quickly dumped the 'maid' who they successfully deceived(as they are deceiving some girls here) and married the new one? And later you will hear funny tales of "my boyfriend dumped me after I did everything for him"...bla bla bla...

In this time and age, any lady that thinks doing all that will land her a husband is not being sincere with herself. You wash, sweep, cook for, sleep with a man who hasn't seen it fit to visit your father's house and put paid to your services for life, and you are not ashamed? Yet it is your 'mates' who did far less who keep sending you their wedding invitations every other week. And he keeps deceiving you with "When I am settled/financially 100% I'll go the next step".

My dear, if he says he's not ready yet, why don't you make him want to speed it up and work harder so he can come to your place faster? If you wait AT YOUR FATHER's HOUSE he will be hungry enough for you to want to pay your bride price quicker before he loses you. Won't that result to working harder? Then you will have value in his eyes. Sleeping with him everyday, cooking, washing, etc are all a WIFE's duties. If you are doing all those for him, why would he remember you aren't his wife yet? Why would he want to work hard for you?

There is a law governing everything in this life. As long as you keep breaking the rules for any, the more its fulfilment eludes you.
(That is why your churches keep filling up with husband seekers, don't you think?)

Not doing all those things will not make him think you aren't wife material. But, should he think you aren't 'serious' because you don't sleep with him etc, please dust your clothes and move on! He is the one who is not husband material. When your man comes, from his character and attitude toward you, you will offer a thanksgiving to God for being wise enough to run away from that one you almost made the mistake of your life with.

Do not deceive yourself, and do not be deceived.

You can get more wisdom from your elderly mothers (Elderly because even some young mothers of today deceive their children to pursue men to their detriment).
