Oga, stop talking rubbish! Are these achievements! We're they even implemented by him or by GEJ? If it's to open mouth talk rubbish, do you know how many policies have been proposed by this government? Yar'Adua was able to benefit from the trickle down effect of the Obasanjo's government due to the debt forgiveness and excess crude funds. You cannot actually point to any tangible thing he did apart from pms reduction in price.
I have made this same point countless times. Nigerians, just like most human beings, are sycophantic in praise of the dead.

That is what has crafted the ridiculous myth of "performer President" around Yar Adua.

For those who know the fundamental problems that must be tackled, so that Nigeria can be truly great, it is obvious Year Adua took no interest in a single one of them let alone resolve conclusively.

Of course it will be sad and regrettable to you. Yet Lagosians and Nigerians who are progressive will disagree because they are not blinded from seeing the good leaders have done because of one prejudice or the other.

Bro, to prove my point about Nigerians been naysayers because of ethno-religious prejudice and hate, kindly inspect the thread below.

https://www.nairaland.com/8490712/fg-opened-single-digit-mortgage-loans

It highlights a wonderful and transformational development no government has attempted since our current democracy began in 1999.

I.e single digit long term mortgages, providing ordinary citizens of a nation with the opportunity to own their own properties.

Owning a family home is one of the ways of defeating generational poverty as it can be handed down to children freeing them from the burden of rent or even used as collated for loans to start businesses etc.

As such owning one's home is therefore very important to me and even sacrosanct as I believe it should be for Nigerians.

Now, inspect that thread to see if any of the vociferous naysayers here showed face to even grudgingly praise the initiative and development.

Does it not make sense that those who genuinely want progress for Nigeria never see nor praise positive developments yet remain focused exclusively on negatives alone always?

Ethno-religious and sectional hatred has damaged the minds of most Nigerians but they just don't realise this.

Precisely what I said to a poster above. He needs time but we know he has the will and talent to get it right.

It is dumb and unreasonable foe anyone to pick one out of literally thousands of problems facing Nigeria to then begin attacking the PBAT government with.

When resources is not limitless, and with Nigeria near total collapse when Tinubu took affair, won't their be a priority rating for solving the many problems facing Nigeria?
Or the President os a magician to wave a wand and every single problem of Nigeria is instantly resolved to world class standard.

The reason many Nigerians are biased and lacking objectivity, when deliberation over issues, is simply ethno-religious prejudice against others that prevents them.swwing what is obvious or even deliberately lying when they see/know what is crystal crystal clear.

You guys should realise that there is no one else on this earth who can do anything about the situation except those who are presently in charge. If we go down the route of excusing every challenge nothing will ever get solved.

When you strongly critique it is not just the present system you send a signal to but you are also warning whoever seeks to lead in future that they better get prepared or not bother to stand at all.

I don't know of any democracy anywhere in the world where leaders are given such a free pass to mediocrity like this country's.

Is it not to your benefit as a citizen if these problems are sorted out fast.
Oga, slow your roll. Tinubu is 2 years and a bit in power. Nigeria had far more pressing issues, threatening to lead to the collapse of our nation, Tinubu had to grapple with after becoming President..

Reasonable people will understand there will be a hierarchy of urgency for solving what is myriads of problems for a country near bankrupt when Asiwaju took the helm of affairs.

The PBAT Government is the most burdened since our current democracy began in 1999. He needs time to deliver significant solutions in many sector affecting Nigeria and Nigerians considering most issues troubling Nigeria had become worse than they should due to years of aggregated inactions of past Presidents.

The Northern bandit problem is now the unknown gunmen problem in the Southeast. They are both run by young kids with guns.
Precisely. They are regions of people who , without doubt, have the natural inclination to devour their own.

Yet both regions are the most problematic and unreasonable in terms of what Nigeria needs, as a nation, to be successful.

While one has embraced violence to try and gain Biafra, the other has willingly adopted terrorism and banditry to create an Islamic caliphate in a supposedly secular nation.

Imagine if Nigeria had only those two as national partners within her borders. They would have wiped each other out.

Yet both, very problematic people and regions, keep making arrogant noise and demands that show they do not appreciate that Nigeria would be totally gone but for the SW, SS and Middle Belt.

The core North and SE seriously need to fix up!!

Yar Adua was President when one of the biggest heists in Nigeria was committed.

Sayyadi Abba Ruma as Minister of Agriculture used 200Billion to buy fertilisers. That's an equivalent of 3 Billion Dollars today.
Fertilisers, we didn't see. Money, we couldn't get.
Fighting corruption alone, if that is all Yat adua will be celebrated for, is pedestrian and a show of how average Yar Adua was for those who know what Nigeria need her Presidents to do with political power to make our nation truly great.

Yar Adua was such an average and withdrawn Governor of Katsina to the extent many other political leaders did not even know him till OBJ presented him as the PDP candidate to replace him. Check historical archives if you don't believe me.

What highly troubled Nigeria needs, above everything else, is a President with the bravery to liberate our most profitable assets and endowment, I.e human and material, from the decades long imprisonment a rapacious and wicked looting class has sentenced them to and then make such available to be the drivers of the greatness of Nigeria onwards to becoming a developed nation.

The President who will make Nigeria great is the one who will do whatever it takes to ensure we use our assets and endowment, human and material, optimally.

A very simple and fundamental concept for even the most illiterate to understand.

Look at the North that is the worst in the entire world at neglect and disenfranchisement of her human resources.

They are where they are tisay because leaders of the region have scant regard for her human resources every successful nation elevates because of recognition of the fact that human resource, beyond even countless tonnes of gold, diamond and crude oil endowment, are the most valuable asset any geographical spaces has.

How much gold, crude oil, diamond etal does UK, Sweden, Switzerland etal have yet they are some of the most developed nation on Earth because of their optimally trained and utilised human resources

Should we go into history to inspect if Yar Adua uncompromisingly fought for the eradication of Almajiri backwardness in Katsina?

Did Yar Adua, as Awolowo achieved for the SW, uncompromisingly champion free and compulsory education for all in his Katsina jurisdiction as a driver of positive socio-economic change for Katsina and the North by extension?

I am always open to learning but I know enough to feel Yar Adua was simply another gradualist, same as all we have had before Tinubu, when Nigeria needs and has only ever needed a brave and uncompromising reformer as President to help her achieve her enormous potentials by getting the best out of our human and material assets/endowments.

Whiteshield:
The removal of subsidy which you lot vilified Tinubu for is that you have now turned around to regard as an achievement.

Anyway, Peter Obi has credibility issues and his words don't carry weight. No one believes him anymore.
Don't mind them. Every President that has come to power since 1999 is aware subsidy must go for Nigeria to make progress by taking optimal and nationally beneficial advantage of her greatest endowment i.e crude oil.

Nations with crude oil endowment become "developed nations" by selling refined derivative of crude, i.e PMS etal , to others worldwide.

Never can those 'lucky nations become anything by sabotaging their own refineries to then enact a scam against their people where the crude endowment meant to uplift the socio-economic fortunes of a nation turns into a curse against her development as happened to Nigeria.

Yet all President post 1999, knowing the above, allowed themselves to be convinced, by cabalistic looters, of the slush fund control of the fuel subsidy scam ,by the Presidency, can be to aid wealth acquisition, funding of election wins, etc, etc.

Fuel subsidy was formally introduced in 1977 by Obasanjo who was then Military head of State.

Every President since, to include Obasanjo who was our first democratic President in the post 1999 era, have capitulated to retain fuel subsidy
.

Not Tinubu who had the political will and unimpeachable love of Nigeria and Nigerians to do what he knew he would be hated for yet had to be done to transform Nigeria for the better.

That act alone, along with several others he has carried out, shows PBAT is a President with an innovative eye on reforming Nigeria to become much better regardless of the cost to his own ambition.

There is a lot of romanticised revisionism attached to Yar Adua's Presidency because he died perhaps because many human being s are sycophantic and tend to wax lyrical about the dead.

To me, and sorry to offend his fans, Yar Adua achieved nothing special. I can only be impressed by fundamental changes and reforms that will move Nigeria onwards to becoming a developed nation.

Yar Adua touched non of those badly needed and fundamentally transformative reforms.

While things may have been relatively stable under him, truth is that this is not difficult to achieve for a President (as most have been since 1999 including OBJ) who is gradualist and not a reformer in the mould of some visionary leaders worldwide have been to earn them the tag "father of nations" for completely transforming for the better the life of a people.

All what you describe are simply gradualist actions bro. No Nigerian President since 1999, for example, compare to say Mustafa Ataturk referred to as "the father of Turkey".

Tinubu can , by the time he steps down, because of brave and never-before-seen reforms he is making. Truly great leaders don't just keep boats afloat. They move it onwards towards it's intended destination.

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is referred to as the "Father of the Turks" primarily due to his pivotal role in the establishment of the Republic of Turkey and his significant contributions to modernizing and secularizing the nation. Here are some key reasons for this title:

Nation-Building:
Atatürk led the Turkish War of Independence (1919-1923) after the fall of the Ottoman Empire, successfully establishing Turkey as a sovereign nation. His leadership was crucial in unifying various ethnic groups within the territory, fostering a sense of national identity.

Reforms:
He implemented extensive reforms that transformed Turkish society, including the adoption of a new legal system, the Latin alphabet, and secular education. These changes aimed to modernize Turkey and promote a sense of national pride and unity.

Cultural Identity:
Atatürk emphasized Turkish nationalism, encouraging citizens to embrace a Turkish identity rather than an Ottoman or ethnic identity. This helped solidify the concept of a unified Turkish nation-state.

Secularism:
He separated religion from politics, establishing a secular government. This move was instrumental in shaping the modern Turkish state and ensuring that it was inclusive of various ethnicities and religions.

Legacy:
His vision and policies laid the foundation for contemporary Turkey, and he is widely revered in the country.

The title "Father of the Turks" reflects the respect and admiration he garnered for his role in shaping modern Turkish identity and governance.

While Atatürk had Kurdish and Albanian ancestry and was not ethnically Turkish in the narrow sense, his legacy transcends ethnic boundaries, as he is recognized for his contributions to the Turkish state and its people as a whole.

Only in your biased eyes is Aregbe "doing serious damage". This is someone ostracised by most Yoruba politico-intelligentsia class. Difference is they don't speak their mind openly as fiery Onanuga does.

It is not in public, for people like you to see, Aregbe is being punished. He is a pariah who is of course finished in the politics of the SW because only dishonorable people , which most Yoruba leaders are not, who will side with dishonorable people because they too are capable of and supportive of what Aregbe did against who Nigerians term "destiny helper".

It is the reason you, for example, supported Atiku, a Fulani, to replace another Fulani (Buhari) who had just finished two terms of 8 years as President so Fulanis could have a possible 16 years unbroken stint in power as if, of over 400 ethnic groups of Nigeria, our nation is about them alone.

It is the same support for treachery, and lack of honour, now pushing some , like Malami, etal to back Atiku to contest again in 2023. When you see Northerners backing Atiku, you are looking at treacherous and disnonorable Northerners.
