sailor2011:I can agree with that because that is broadly my principle too. I believe human beings should have depth, substance, compassion and empathy with others. Yet I disagree passionately with the "vanity upon vanity" crew. Wanting nice things, and working hard to be able to afford them, is not "vanity upon vanity". It is pleasing yourself. Which all of us are entitled to do so long as we earn our wealth legitimately and are good/charitable to our fellow men. |
Sermwell:Precisely. Given the choice, how many people truly wish to be poor and wretched rather than rich enough to be able to afford the best life has to offer? The truth is that, 9 out of 10 times, those who criminalise and bash wealthy and succesful folks are losers who are bitter and have resigned themselves to never being rich or successful. They talk the way they do to console themselves about their poor, frustrated and unhappy lives. |
Shawarmagirl:You people should stop this "vanity upon vanity" themed talk whenever a rich and privileged person dies. It only demonstrates poverty mentality and the castigation of wealth and privilege because you deem those personally unattainable and wish to console yoursef promoting wealth as bad. The bolded makes no sense because wealth and influence does not "fail" anyone against death which is the unavoidable end of us all. Rich or poor. Wealth and influence, when deserved, are beautiful possessions as they insulate one from suffering, misery, depression, deprivation and even poor health on Earth. Stop criminalising and demarketing wealth, as if it is undesirable, So annoying. It is your type who scratch the luxury cars of others at night. @Topic. RIP to a great, admirable and distinguished achiever who led an inspirational life. |
destinychildolu:Lol. Tinubu is no one's maga. This is why many, who really understand Nigeria and what it will take to turn her fortunes around, are his fan. There are internal political dynamics ordinary Nigerians are not aware of. If Tinubu feels he needs another VP to secure 2027 then I defer to his judgement. https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/only-tinubu-can-break-cabal-holding-nigeria-down-ex-nupeng-scribe-kokori/%3famp

Obiedun:Same here. Not another logic-devoid fantasy from an Obi desperado fanboy. Atiku is a born-to-rule Northern supremacist whose main remaining life's ambition is to be President. Knowing that, does it make sense he will sacrificially step aside for Obi in 2027 to wait till 2031, when he will be 84, to become President? Also, what and who will force Obi to do one term only once in Aso Rock when the constitution allows him two terms of four years each? |
dalitigator:This is the God's honest truth and I have personally cited, literally a million time, the example of Japan's stunning recovery after the war. Recovery and then even vastly enhanced socio-economic success predicated on the difficult socio-economic changes they made the choice to embrace and how, more than anything else, it was their immense discipline and dedication to making sacrifice that led to the exemplary success the world celebrates them for today. Nigeria, in huge contrast to Japan, host human resources far less capable of seeing what must be done to target and then gain, through making requisite sacrifices as Japan did for a considerable period of time, a much better reality with greater quality of life and vastly more fulfilled existence. The Japanese knew where they were going and what it would take to get there. We don't. That is the problem. We were even far worse off, when Tinubu became President, than Japan and most nations emerging from the socio-economic devastation of the second war. I hope some can read and assimilate what is shown below to especially appreciate the section on "acceptance of austerity". In life it is and will always be "no pain no gain".

bentenny:You people fond making these simplistically asinine arguments, and others such as "go and buy petrol at APC/Tinubu petrol station for 100 Naira per litre", are actually exposing the fact you have very poor and even below rudimentary understanding of issues. It is not about sampling opinion where people are unknowledgeably simplest and most reactionary. Take away the sweet of a child alway and you expect said child to vote you world's best parent even though you take the action for his or her best health interest? Most Nigerians know nothing about macro-economics reforms to enhance their long term socio-economic prospect. All they know is that garri and transport fee cost more. They aren't aware life for them, could be about so much more as others are enjoying worldwide, and as Tinubu wishes to deliver for them. To them the leader who has caused rise in garri price and transport cost is strictly a failure. Yet how can that be true also for me, you and all properly educated and exposed Nigerians who know how badly off Nigerians are in direct comparison to their peers globally and how/why the reforms it will take to close the massive gap must bring initial hardship? |
Krismas:Not possible. The only sort of politics they open their minds to is politics of hatred, bitterness and vendetta. Only Obi, Abaribe, Kanu, Ekpa and co are the teachers they want. |
Wickedfact:They only know how to play politics of hatred and bitterness. This is why for them, it will always be "enemy (born-to-rule Northerners) of my enemy (Tinubu) is my friend (born-to-rule Northerners) automatically". |
onuman:If Tinubu leaves office in 2031, haven delivered irreversible decentralisation changes every region needs to go and thrive/develop to their true potentials, without 'one Nigeria' encumbrance, what makes you think the SW will ever be interested in national politics again never mind be concerned whether Nigeria is a one party system or not? The issue is with those lot who shout Biafra yet know they cannot do without 'one Nigeria' since they know it is what will protect their reality of needing access to other regions market and spending power to sustain their barren SE they flee from in thousands daily. Those who did what is shown below, in 2021, will be interested in the centre ever again after 2031 and assuming Tinubu has delivered all they need for what was demanded below to become reality? You really don't know the mind of Yorubas and what they truly desire. Look at 2021 below. Do you understand how human evolution works at all? Why, after using a smart phone, don't you go back to using an 80s brick phone? https://punchng.com/swest-govs-propose-six-regions-demand-lg-autonomy-resource-control/#google_vignette

AMINDA:We don't need you to explain anything because non of your many previous "explanations" made any sense. |
DMerciful:His policies and reforms cannot do that immediately. If you can't accept this simple and valid macro-economic point then there is not much anyone can say to convince you of anything. Most people will accept the global validity of my point which any AI platform you care to use supports to the extent many will cites Nigeria as an example. This is because Nigeria happens to be one of the nations undertaking a multitude of the most fundamental and seismic reforms it must embrace due to decades of Presidents after Presidents putting off doing what would have been best for Nigeria and cumulatively made her great today rather than the near-failed nation she was when PBAT took over.
|
surgical:Okay, your polites and informative response is appreciated. Yet every issue you raised is still covered by the fact that self-destructive policies one President after the other endured with, to have an easy time in office and two terms, is responsiblr for the cumulative woes of Nigeria that left our nation on the edge of collapse when PBAT took over. The many reforms that would have prevented Nigeria getting to this state and even see us near optimally developed today, had Obasanjo kick-started their delivery, is what Tinubu is now implementing. Sure hardship and socio-economic challenges will ail Nigeria and Nigerians for a while but our nation and people will be much better off once reforms begin to turn around and reposition Nigeria for greatness. That is the truth. |
SarkinYarki:Okay, presuming your own IQ is higher than that of those you mock, can you provide convincing and ecomomically sound arguments for why Tinubu's policies are not good for Nigeria? |
surgical:Bro, how long will your sort do this for? I.e insult people uncouthly because of your own, ignorance, prejudices and perhaps even ethno-religious hatred of others? Did Tinubu (1) cause the problems of Nigeria, that meant we were at the edge of collapse when he took over, or (2) was that the faulf of all other Presidents before him who deliberately failed to do what was right to position Nigeria for optimal socio-economic growth and development? If the answer to question 1 is no and yes for question 2, which the informed and educated world accept it is, then what part of the accepted maxim of fundamentally required reforms, the sort that can no longer be put off for later lest Nigeria collapse, causing temporary short term challenges do you not understand if an educated, reasonable and progressive adult?
|
helinues:100% correct. I can verify this directly as a businessman. Yes there are increased challenges but PBAT's reforms is opening up Nigeria to becoming a middle income economy through organic growth and deployment of our human and material resources. |
helinues:Indeed. That is my very point. Regions of Nigeria with requisite human and material endowment , through the decentralisation policy Tinubu is aggresively pursuing that no other President had previously attempted, should be free to go on to be like Turkey that has done well to become an upper-middle-income Country by focusing on efforts to be as self-reliant as possible. Turkey has done well in manufacturing etal. Realistically, knowing the human and material resources of the Yorubas, we can aim to be as developed as the likes of Turkey in around 20 years max if we control our own socio-economic growth strategy 100%. DAWN Commission to date, and I stand to be corrected, is the only independent regional think thank that has produced a comprehensive and well-acclaimed 'Road map' detailing how the SW can leverage on regional integration to achieve , as you stated, "those things we admire about others". Very inportant however to note, even as we ostensibly know the way, the Yorubas will never achieve their potential shackled by 'one Nigeria' regression some regions love. Decentralisation of power and processes Tinubu is carrying out is what I support him for the most and hope he has time to see to fruition. My bro, look, for example, at how Nigeria is shamefully 107 out of 113 Nations on the 2022 global food security index. Is that ranking, produced before Tinubu became the Pdesident, also the fault of PBAT as born-to-rule Northern imperiallist and their embittered and hateful SE co-travellers are shouting today? Nigerians cannot think because of weaponised poverty leading them to their doom. This is why I want the SW, and any other region seriously desirous of it, to flee the sinking 'one Nigeria' ship before we all go down with it. https://impact.economist.com/sustainability/project/food-security-index/
|
NSNO:If you note, I cite Turkey short term i.e 10 years. Regardless of the economic challenges today, which even the most developed economy can face as a result of boom and bust cycles, Turkey has made tremendous advances to become a nation even Britons go to for medical treatment because of their decent medical sector backed with comparatively affordable charges and quick treament time. They manufacture a hell of a lot from very sophisticated weapons and even cars , they export, to much more. . Point is that, for where we are today in Nigeria, Turkey is a realistic and even optimistically ambitious target, within ten years, for a regionally autonomous SW Nigeria to achieve enroute to becoming developed in 20 to 40 years dependent on effort and focus.

@OP. Dis one you talk, I don talk am tire here to receive endless insult. I am Yoruba and from the SW. In the end, I concluded that Nigerians cannot understand your brilliant bread and bakery analogy because of weaponised poverty deployed against them over decades by previous Presidents before PBAT who were too cowardly or disiniterested to elevate Nigeria to "developed Nation" status. This leadership weaponsation of poverty became the norm to unravel a systemic and unending cycle delivering only greater destruction of Nigeria achieved through the modus operandi of "giving Nigerians bread so they would not revolt". Indeed they did not revolt yet same weaponised poverty prevented them realising that majority of Nigerians were living like wild animals in comparision to Turkish people let alone Brits, Germans, Americans, French folks etal The cumulative effect, same as a drug addict would view as evil a loving parent who locks him in a room to detox, is what we have today whereby Tinubu is seen as the worst President by a significant number of Nigerians. Whereas critical, Knowledgeable, exposed and logical thinkers, as you appear to be, will know Tunubu is the best President Nigeria has had, post 1999, beyond the shadow of a doubt. I mention I am Yoruba to explain the conclusion I am leading to which is that Yorubas are ready, and you can see this from how our leaders are moving, to sacrifice now and back Tinubu's decentralisation of power we hope will lead to regional autonomy for us, to become a nation like Turkey within ten years and a nation like the UK or Germany in 20 years. I have no problem with those who want Tinubu out but, since it appears only SW and SS leader see the bih picture, I would want him in power long enough to 'free' serious regions of Nigeria to the extent so their destiny is truly in their own hands such that 'one Nigeria' can never impede or affect adversely beyond Tinubu leaving power. After that regional 'freedom', those who do not understand they are under the spell of weponised poverty, and thus could not see the need to sacrifice, the North being the best example, can continue to receive bread , consequent upon them remaining no better than animals . Others who saw the bigger picture and endured with Tinubu's effort to decentralise power and processes, for a much brighter and dignified future, can move on to enjoy socio-economic life as it obtains in the best nations of the world because they had the temperament, outlook and "delayed gratification" nous to shun poverty bread and wait for sacrificial deliverance that will eventually usher them into 'optimally developed region' status. |
jmoore:Whatever. Why are those running around promoting this coalition of born-to-rule Northern imperialism not including Obi in their talk at all? Why is Obi also not takling about them? Keep blaming "Agbbaadoo" foe everything. Shey they made him flee PDP also in 2022 rather than confront Atiku you lot love to fool yourself is a "uniter" with best intentions for Obi? Yet you people never wonder why your messiah still preferred to leave PDP for Atiku and his Fulani gang? Or you will blame Wike for his departure? Abi "agbbadoo" even? The problem is that you people dont know Obi and even yourselves because you are always simplistically looking to blame 'outsiders' you hate , like "agbbaadoo", for everything. |
Bobloco:Stop running around chasing your own tail. Who are you talking to exactly? Is it not your own fickle and emotional people, now rounding on Obi because of their perception he is ambivalent over joining a "rescue Nigeria" coalition that, for Obidients, is an "anyone but Yoruba President" mission in 2027? I am no fan of Obi but I know his antecedent enough to predict his actions almost accurately, in every situation, which you "anyone but Yoruba" President desperados will never accept. In this situation, Obi will rather run independently, as he fled PDP to do in 2022, than be consumed by Vampires he knows he can never trust let alone gain the respect of. Obi as he recognised what Atiku and Tambuwal etal where trying to do in the PDP in 2022, leading to him fleeing, will also understand this is a coalition of Northern bloodsucking Vampires, in all but name, looking for Southerners to use and dump. Same reasoning that made him flee PDP in 2022 will make him shun this coalition of Northern born-to-rule imperialism. Obi is not that hard to read. He will shun this coalition to run independently. |
Lol. Our brothers from the SE should make it make sense. They now say Obi is standing in the way of Nigeria 'salvation' by not joining a coalition to "rescue" our nation. So, a Village that wants to rid itself of kidnappers should turn around and attack one man who will not join their "chase kindappers out" coalition led by fifty Evans and 100 Bello Turjis? Anyone who can swear those in the coalition alliance have 'saviour of Nigeria' credentials should list the historical leadership records now for each prominent member of the coalition alliance Starting from Atiku, El Rufai, Malami, Babachir Lawal, Amaechi, Dele Momodu etal so Nigerians can judge for themselves whether they are saviours or slavers. Better for our SE brethren to confess their irredeemable hatred fot Yorubas that means they would rather the devil win in 2027 than for a Yoruba to continue in power. That would be far more honest and acceptable than calling a band of desperados, who have gotten Nigeria where she is today, incoming "rescuers" of our nation. |
Amumaigwe:Lol. Such as the "fireworks" that made him President after he challenged Tinubu's victory in Court? Abi you lot did not similarly boast Obi, the "veteran in Court", and his "undefeated' lawyers would ensure Obi would be declared 2023 President of Nigeria by the Courts? You lot are something else. Fun fact, did you know Obi broke a record for fastest dismissal of a Presidential election petition in the history of Nigeria? You people see a powerful and invincible messiah while the rest of the world sees a glorified trader unfit for the intellectual challenges of political leadership at local government level let alone wanting to mix it with the 'big boys'. Lol. |
Dchampion65:His image , from his "Yes Daddy" and "religious war" attack against the Moslem faith to many other openly discriminatory utterances, is too damaged to be "rebranded" now. This is why he is hiding today, over this new low in his long list of deliberately divisive behaviour, while his clannish followers try to defend and salvage his reputation currently on X, Facebook, Nairaland etal. |
Moroccoguy:Dont you guys have any shame? Why are you into such shameless, unreasonable and clannish defence of your own almost no other Nigerian ethnic group is guilty of? Where is Obi's "younger brother", till now, to come out and present his side of his story or even his "document" as you are senselessly demanding from a lady who has not only presented her document previously in Court, including C of O, but won the right, based on evidence supplied, to be declared legal owner of said property? You people have no shame Obi's "Brother" that the court declared "unknown" has not come out of hiding till now to identify himself or explain why he has legal entitlement to the disputed property and not the lady the victory was declared to. Even while property was being demolished, he was unaturally nowhere to be seen after calling his "elder Brother" for help. In fact, and also unaturally, it was only his 'elder brother" Obi visible at the property and shouting about "Nigeria now deacendind into lawlessness". Meanwhile, never mind the party you are defending blindly in the dispute is untraceable and hiding cowardly, you are dubiously challenging the lady who has won the dispute , with presumably legally verified and acceptable documents, to prove anything to you? Are you guys for real and can you not see whey you are detested, challenged and vehemently opposed globally? You cannot even respect legal deliberation of competent Courts of law that the law and order of all society must be predicated upon. Instead, and deliberately, you prefer to criminalise the victor merely because your faceless and hiding kinsman, who is the wongdoer in the eyes of the law, has had a court judgement go against him and his 'elder brother' who is your political messiah and God. This Obi "younger brother" has no name? Or what kind of madness is this we are seeing where legal victor in the case is identified , and has even released a statement, only for you peeople to be attacking her and defending/exonerating a ghost who wont even come out to identify himself? Na wa. |
ogascomax:Attacking several Presidents only proves his attention-seeking, quarrelsome and emptily rabble-rousing credentials verified by the fact he is mediocre as a leader and poor at representing his constituency. Focus on his constituency , as is the main official responsibility of most meritoriously efficient Senators, is the core leadership duty Ndume must be judged on ahead of everything else. Only hateful Nigerians will give him credit for playing Mr.Nigeria nationally, whereas he is a failure to those he was elected to serve locally in his State. He is what, in general, Yorubas call "iká èniyan'. How many Governors are making noise let alone a Senator decades in the the legislative arm of Nigeria with only "mediocrity" attached to his name? It is his ethno-religous mindset and disposition to others I am talking about and I won't spell out what I mean if you are not far along in your knowledge of the reality of Nigeria to know what I am talking about. |
ogascomax:Lol. Bigotry? A Yoruba Southerner criticising Ndume, with very welll-documented nefarious antecendent, is the bigot to you? Keep displaying the lack of intellectual depth and emotional intelligence behind how most southerners do not understand what some Northern politicians really are and why insecurity cannot be vanquished by an Army ranked third in Africa. |
9japride:What hatred? Obj and his co-travellers are the ones harbouring hatred in their soul for others. If they engaged in policies devoid of hatred and bitterness, then there would not be what you percieve to be hatred from others. You can't claim you support a messiah then label the candidates of others "demons" to then expect flowers in return. As an example, gow do you want the supporters of Tinubu, who are 100% entitled to support him, respond to the antics of Obi and Obidients? |
ObiPandora:Talking nonsense plus making false and completely unsubstantiated accusation is the forte of Obidient. Of course "game recognise game" so we are not surprised Obidients behave like their messiah always. |
DomPerignon:Absolutely and 💯%. Most people suspected similar because they know how the opportunist Obi, 100 times out of 100, always rushes, without thinking, to cynically try and gain political profit from every situation/development. Soyinka labelled him appropriately indeed with the "Gbajue" (fraudster) tag. |
9japride:That is what this is about and Obi, the bigot and tribalist, does not know how to play politics any other way. Imaging publicly attacking the President for not wearing "mourning" attire on a visit to Benue after the heinous killing that traumatised Nigeria. What a heinous, callous and senseless thing to do at a time politics must be put aside for the sake of the greater good. Obi is repellent and nauseating. |
