Good2go1:Stop playing politics with this. You are the typical Nigerian who knows how to blame all others for everything but personally very wicked, corrupt, inconsiderate and devious. A lair who sees A to call it B. Nairalanders should look at the picture of the boy in brown. It is heart-wrenching. He is crying, overwhelmed and distressed. Sure his current situation has likely created anxiety, confusion and deep sadness for him. Yet that boy has likely been sad, neglected, overwhelmed and distressed from birth. He is likely illiterate, homeless and probably fending for himself without any parental or familial help. After this current case is dispensed with, and unless rehabiltated and empowered with education/vocation skill, he will go back to the Street and may join a bandit crew or Boko Haram in future. We all know what and who is responsible for this boy's plight since he was born. It is not Tinubu or his reforms. The cause of the boy's pain, from birth, is the elitist system and elite/political leaders of the North who have always been resistive to pro-talakawa reforms, long before Tinubu became a politician, like the free education policy of Awolowo. It is that system and those people that are responsible for this boys plight and misery. Had he grown up with responsible adult care mentoring every stage of his development, will he be where he is today? It is irresponsible for Nigerians to play politics with the plight of this boy and millions like him. No crime has been committed getting him into that court room because he is suspected of conduct regarded as wrong in the eyes of the law. A responsible society, rather than be playing cheap politics, would look at how to ensure boys and girls like these don't fall into despondency from birth that then dooms them to a life of pain, neglect, deprivation and perhaps serious crime eventually.

Jayinyourdreams:Lol. So Tinubu put those minors in the position they are currently in? In fact why don't you blame him for some of the children never haven set foot in a school in the 12 or more years of their existence on earth? |
Joey4321:It is the North that hates, neglects and kills her children not, for example, the SW or SS. You should not indict the whole Nigeria for what the North alone is doing to her children. Or did you see any minors protesting in the SW and other regions? |
lexy2014:They can legally be arrested and detained. That is the position of the law even if such does not sit well with most Nigerians who are largely sentimental and lacking dispassionate objectivity. Claiming the minors were not looked after is your personal opinion and not an established fact. who are the people that put the kids up to protest? The same people who gave illiterate children flags of Russia. A development that conclusively support the opinion these children where being exploited by those with political agendas. why have they not been arrested? You can ask DSS and Co that question not me. That they have not been arrested is not here nor there. This is about the minors charged to court. Many, including even children welfare expert, may have suggested these children be punished through a correctional process so they know the consequences of criminal and delinquent behaviour. This may present them with the chance to become rehabilitated onwards to gaining productive adult lives. does any one need to demonise tinubu or he has done it himself? You, like most others, cannot appreciate you keep speaking with the ludicrous oversight of calling Tinubu out over anything and everything. As I stated before many (to include child welfare officers, our AGF, The NSA of Nigeria Ribadu etal) may have demanded the prosecution and punishment of these minors for many reasons ranging from rehabilitating them to sending a deterrent to minors not to engage in these sort of acts in future. Even as some of you simplistically try to insinuation so, Tinubu does not run all aspects of Nigerian Governance. We have the executive, legislative and judicial arm who have important and decision-making leaders at so many levels. Utterly ridiculous to tag Tinubu over all public occurrences such as with this development that is the jurisdiction of the Nigerian judicial and law enforcement arm alone. |
mrvitalis:You're nothing but a bigoted and repellent tribalist who will never see the big picture because of extreme prejudice. Go and educate yourselves to note children, should not be involved in these protests. Simple. See the bolded below and stop yapping ignorantly because you hate Tinubu's and Yorubas. For others quoting me malevolently, use the link below to read an article that makes my point precisely. In it many dispassionate intelligent and critical-thinking Nigerians, capable of separating their political opinion with the wrong done to these exploited children, have contributed thoughts and conclusions I hope will educate some of you here given that some of the commentators in the article may even be harsh critics of Tinubu yet that does not detract them from seeing the big picture. I.e the welfare of out of school and street children who have no one to fight for them. These kids must not be treated like this. This is a welfare and child abuse issue and nothing to do with protest or Tinubu's Governance otherwise children throughout Nigeria would have done same. https://www.google.com/amp/s/businessday.ng/life/article/endbadgovernance-protest-use-of-out-of-school-children-dangerous-for-nigeria/%3famp “According to the constitution and international treaties on children, they should not be involved in anything called war or protest as their minds cannot fathom the inherent dangers in it.

AFONJAmiracle:You're the typical Nigerian and that is why I hate arguing with your sort. Ignorant ,incorrigible and bullishly judgemental yet you will never accept simple correction to better yourself and banish ignorance. You have charge sheets of all the children to know they are all charged with civil disobedience and not arson, looting, breach of peace, destruction of property etc? Was Chinasa Michael, who burnt Ojota BRT park during #EndSARRS protest, jailed for civil disobedience or for arson and destruction of government property? This is why most Nigerians don't grow mentally. Too crudely and emptily arrogant to take correction, or constructive criticism, and move on. It is only biased adult, prejudiced from the start against something or someone, who can speak in ignorance of all facts such as charges proferred against these minors. First they broke the law charging these kids to court according to you. Then you move on to hinge your case on the charge of civil disobedience. Who cannot see you are just prejudiced and bias? Government prosecutuon team does not have one single law expert ba and they will just break law publicly before the eyes of the whole world like that. Just listen to yourself and your crass ignorance. |
AFONJAmiracle:Where did I say I support that? Yet you should know that you are ignorant suggesting laws have been broken. Juveniles and minors can be detained, prosecuted and ultimately sentenced to lengthy detention in correctional facilities. Not everything we must deploy bias and sentiments over instead of keeping open minds to then educate ourselves and see the big picture. Below is the dictionary definition of juveniles. Below it is proof the law of Nigeria allows for the trial and sentencing of juvenile to correctional and rehabilitation facilities or even prison. Stop shouting Tinubu always. Nigeria has laws and many are employed to uphold those law. Dictionaryhttps://acrobat.adobe.com/id/urn:aaid:sc:EU:f6581073-8bc8-4896-9781-11441f95598f A young person can only be sentenced to a prison term where he is so unruly in character or depraved. Whilst in prison he shall not be allowed, as far as it is practicable, to associate with adult prisoners and death sentence cannot be imposed on a young person who has committed an offence punishable with death. |
helinues:Precisely. Many pretend not to note this because they are only concerned with demonizing Tinubu with anything they can use in that regard. The bottom line is that children in other regions are experiencing bad times as well. Why did they not hit the street to loot, burn things and breach the peace as only Northern children did. |
TOPCRUISE:Tinubu is the "wicked man" and not the cynically exploitative and callous folks who sent these kid on a 'mission'? |
TOPCRUISE:They were not protesting bad Governance. They were merely being used. Minors in the North have always had bad governance, starting from their local leadership, that has derailed the lives of many of them before it has eleven begun with illiteracy, alamajiri dependency, deprivation etc. Don't tag this to any bad governance issue simple because you hate the current government. These children should not have been put in this situation same as we did not see minors anywhere else in Nigeria do same during the protests. This is the shame of the North for the region to carry. People like you should not deflect blame from those who really deserve it I.e Northern leaders. Let adults protest and articulate the position of children also. That is how it is done in sane nation because of the correct belief that children are not fit to be involved in certain things. It is not for children to hit the streets rioting, looting and committing arson. We only see that sort of behaviour in places where law and order has broken down completely and anarchy reigns. |
Forumites:How? My simple point is that these minors were used and should not be in this position if Northern leaders actually care for Northern children and have their leadership priorities right. Some in the HOR were recently sponsoring bills to make Islam more dominant. Whereas what Northern leaders should be doing, as a matter of utmost priority, is declaring a state of emergency on education so that generation after generation of Northern children will not continue to be lost to illiteracy, destitution, despondency and crime/terrorism. Perhaps you are from the North and that is why you find what is simple confusing. |
I feel bad for these children but these are the consequences of evil adults using vulnerable, hungry, illiterate and desperate child for their nefarious political agenda. The North should be ashamed. No other region were children and minors used like this. Terrible and troubling. Really feel for these kids who were failed by leaders yet continue to be cynically and mercilessly exploited by those leaders. The North does not care for her children. It is time the rest of Nigeria start speaking truth to Northern leaders always demanding the Presidency yet failing their people the most at state and regional level. |
Efewestern:God bless you. Succinctly and factually accurate. Yet only those who have taken time to study the problems of Nigeria will understand. Whereas the rest will continue to believe, out of sheer ignorance, that one man can make Nigeria Singapore overnight. We have an undiversified economy largely depending on the sale of crude. Our manufacturing sector is so poor, despite Nigeria being blessed with so much raw materials, that we will run a trade deficit, I.e importing more than we export, for a long time as things stand which is detrimental to our economic growth. Meaning our Naira will remain weak and suffering poor demand if we do not become economically more productive as you surmised. In simple terms, the strength of most economies of the world is derived from their ability to produce goods and services others want. We are failing woefully in this crucial area yet expecting national economic vibrancy. There are so many problems, due to how they have remain unresolved for many decades, that are now big monsters for us that will need considerable time and dedication to tame and ultimately defeat. Poor understanding of the major problems of Nigeria is the issue. |
Mindlog:Yes. Shunning sentiments and thinking logically always will facilitate our understanding of any game. Be it business, political or personal. Tinubu, criticised heavily for it, gave the North the livestock Ministry they demanded. Meanibg Northern legislators dare not oppose this now since they got what their people demanded to secure the creation of a new Ministry we know Northerners will control. Simple as that. |
Sleekfingers:Only God knows what is wrong with those people. Rather than learn from our universally applauded tolerance and ability to see the picture, per what matters most for societal development, they will rise every day to try and mock us while their States and region continues to descend into chaos and failure. A self-destructive people 100%. |
Corporate2020:The irony is that this federal University in Osun will work better and more productively because of the disciplined, progressive and moderate character of Yorubas. Amotekun remains exemplary today as a complementary force to the NPF. Ebubeagu, that Igbos copied Yorubas to rush and create, is now disbanded over gross misconduct related to kidnapping, robbery, extortion, human rights abuse etal. Those haters are only jealous because they know what this implies for the SW. I.e further progress. |
Bobloco:Will you ever shut up if you cannot say anything without bigoted and ethnocentric malevolence? What does it matter where they locate this vitally needed university? |
Ikaeniyan0:I agree but Nigeria, a very complex and difficult nation, does not have citizens who can overlook ethnic and sectional divide to then willingly adhere to regulatory framework all must subscribe to for greater good of society. Sadly, we are not pulling in the same direction because of issues like ethnicity, religious, sectional and socio-economic differences etal. I doubt we will ever pull in the same direction unless we introduce regional autonomy which will create the homogeneity of purpose and joint hunger for success, at regional level, that will make regions work more successfully to then encourage, motiivate and challenge each other. Everyone is a 'smart guy' in Nigeria meaning they will circumvent whatever is done in the interest of the greater good if it does not benefit them personally. |
Chief moaner of Nairaland has dropped another of his 20 per day weeping threads. Bros, you no dey tire? |
helinues:It is. I think Tinubu just needs a very effective media team headed by someone as vibrant and as brutally efficient as Reno Omokri, concerning the dissemination of information, to make the public understand what the Presidency is doing. Was never a fan of Omokri but I have grown to respect him. Dude operates at such a high standard that the best 'spin doctors' and lobbyists in nations like the USA, UK, France etal would salute him. |
Ikaeniyan0:It is not easy to deal with in reality in so far as prices are not fixed or regulated. You can sell Milo in your supermarket for 2k and I can sell in mine for 3k. I should not be "dealt with" for that as I break no laws. I'll simply blame my logistic cost. What should happen is that you should be principled enough to keep selling at 2k , since you obviously make a profit, rather than hike to 3k to take make more money at the expense of Nigerians. Tunji Bello is simply trying to tell Nigerians we are unpratiotically causing each other misery because of either greed or how powerful interest groups, eyeing political gains, are forcing us to do so. What most do not know is that high food cost today, quadruple or more, is due to the cartel opportunism Tunji Bello has revealed in the poultry sector. Governors should do more, supporting large scale farming in their States, to defeat agricultural crop and livestock blackmailers from other States of Nigeria who are following a political agenda. |
YoshihideSuga:Lol. No doubt a bitter and uncouth IPOB nuisance. Frustration and hypocrisy will be the undoing of you lot. Unlike you Igbos who hate all Nigerians and think you are supreme to them, I challenge you to show I dislike other Nigerians other than Igbos who hate and vilify Yorubas constantly and thus deserve same in return from all proud and patriotic Yorubas. If you can prove so then I will agree I am a tribalist because it seems you don't know the meaning of words you use. Hating someone who has always hated you, same as a black man automatically despises white supremacist and racists, is totally acceptable. What you irresponsible people never accept is you cannot go around ungraciously hating, attacking and hounding others, especially Yorubas, to then expect love from them. You dish it but can't take it. Reason why, when we give back what you dish out to us, you begin to cry and foam at the mouth as you are doing here. Like El Rufai said ,"hate begets hate". Ditto love begets love. |
Forkthiefnubu:He meant a government headed by a Yoruba you n1tw1t. |
mrvitalis:You don't get it. You're the rubbish and I can't adress rubbish. |
BlackfireX:They'll always be that way because of perennial envy and inferiority complex against Yorubas. |
helinues:Precisely. |
masterfactor:You may be one person paying againt ten thousand who do not pay. I remember one research paper attributing part of problem of the North to poor entrepreneurial capacity for starting and sustaining SMEs. Meaning most Northerners want to exist through government intervention and subsidies rather than independently via creating business income for themselves and other Northerners they will be employing. This fondness of existing through government subsidies and political largesse is why Northern leaders are fighting Tinubu who believes you must use what you have to get what you want, as he did with Lagos, rather than rely on the FG for everything. |
The confession of these Northerners, and their admonishing of Jaafar Jaafar, is one of the main reason I am a big fan of regional Governance. Imagine trying to gaslight a southern President over power supply when the North pays little to nothing for power? When Adelabu, a performing Minister, hikes tariffs people did not understand. They were cursing. Hope it is now clear to some the reason we will never have constant power supply since some unreasonable folks want everything free and fail to accept that no investment in power means epileptic power for. To make matters worse, sabotage of power installation is a severe problem in the North costing government billions. Essentially, we are more or less subsidising the existence of Northerners. That's the uncomfortable truth some Northerners will not want to face. As far as I am concerned, the North and SE are currently the biggest headache of Nigeria. Economically, security wise and even with their habit of swamping the land of others without the responsibility to take their failed and incompetent leaders to task. Let Tinubu hurry up and empower regional autonomy. Long overdue IMO. |
helinues:Absolutely. Very toxic, bitter and miserable character. |
YoshihideSuga:Clown. Face your front. |
