That is the most potent job search solution. 99.9% of jobs are gotten via the hidden job market. The points OP raised above only apply to the 0.1% openings out there..and frankly, its a waste of effort doing any other thing other than trying your connections for a job

nice writeup
OP should also add "Not having a strong connection"
"Strong connections" can get u a job u r not qualified for and can also create vacancies where there are none
BusinessMoney Lending: CBN, EFCC, FCCPC, Others To Tackle ‘loan Sharks’ by wonder233(op): 12:22pm On Nov 17, 2021
The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have commenced rights violation investigation into the money lending industry.

A document signed by Babatunde Irukera, the Chief Executive Officer of FCCPC for the Joint Regulatory and Enforcement Committee, said this in Abuja on Monday.
Mr Irukera said the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and the National Information Technology Development Agency were also members.

He disclosed that the committee would lead efforts to address multiple potentially dubious conducts of certain money lenders, otherwise known as loan sharks.

According to him, the meeting resolved to collaborate, pursue urgent enforcement action against already known violators while investigating others, as well as criminal prosecutions where applicable.

He regretted that the act was fast becoming a dominant and abusive practice targeting some of the most vulnerable in society.

“Continuing complaints about questionable repayment enforcement practices including public shaming and violations of privacy have led to significant and understandable consumer aggravation and dissatisfaction.

“Others are arbitrary, unjust, unreasonable, or exploitative interest rates and or loan balances calculations, harassment and failure of consumer feedback mechanisms, among others have caused consumer aggravation.

PoliticsRe: SPOTLIGHT: Lt Colonel Bello, The Man Who Led Lekki Massacre And Shunned Judicial by wonder233: 5:20pm On Nov 16, 2021
Nope, the killing of policemen and burning of stations happened before, not after. In fact, the final straw that made the govt impose curfew happened that morning all through afternoon of that Oct 20. The videos were briefly online, before influencers told people to stop spreading them so that it won't overshadow the protest. That's why many youths either claim ignorance about the killing of policemen or downplaying it. Even my neighbour whose status I viewed the horrifying murder of policemen is now claiming ignorance that he was never aware of such
Conner44:
All the other mayhem and killings were done after the initial shooting at the tollgate because of the anger of the masses.

Your wailing is dead on arrival
PoliticsRe: SPOTLIGHT: Lt Colonel Bello, The Man Who Led Lekki Massacre And Shunned Judicial by wonder233: 5:09pm On Nov 16, 2021
Spot on! These are my thoughts exactly. By the afternoon of that 20th October, blood curdling videos of policement being hacked to death surfaced online, only for the twitter influencers to quickly pass info round for the youths to stop circulating them. Now, all of them claim amnesia about that.
Who were the people the military engaged at the tollgate that night? Certainly not law abiding citizens who had heeded govt curfew. They were hoodlums happy there was breakdown of law and order so they can attack and rob like they were already doing since the protest degenerated. Do you know how many people hoodlums killed?
Chapii:
I am not and can never be a Fan of Tinubu, Lai or Buhari and I agree largely with the report of the Panel but the entire reportage is not balanced.

The government of the day LASG and FG (largely IG of Police) did not manage the entire EndSars protest professionally. The brute force that was used to disperse the protest at Lekki toll gate was the only option left for the Government at that point in time and these are my reasons.
1. Why is nobody reporting that the government allowed the protest to last for over 2 weeks in lagos, Abuja and several other cities meaning that the govt. recognizes the right to protest.
2. Why is nobody talking about how the protest at the toll gate gave birth to many other protest sites in several parts of lagos was making normal life unbearable for other citizens due to road blocks and all.
3. Why is nobody talking about how the protest have degenerated into a crisis situation with prison break, burning of Police stations, killing of police men, looting and destruction etc. As at 7pm of 20.10.20, over 30 police stations in Lagos was on fire and several policemen killed.
Last but not the least, the people that were at the lekki toll gate protest venue at the time of arrival of the military cannot be said to be law abiding. They were defying a government imposed curfew which is to take effect by 4pm that day.
Citizens have all right to protest but the government should also be up and doing in managing the overall security situation in the communities. My 2 cents

I see names, so who really are they? And what were they doing at lekki tollgate at that night when a curfew had been imposed following the gruesome killings of policemen that same day in the afternoon. You want to claim amnesia that wasn't the sequel of events?

cos this is govt investigation panel. I need hard evidence. Don't just say "victims" , give names!!!

PoliticsRe: Lagos Judicial Panel Recommends Dismissal Of Soldiers, Police Deployed To Lekki by wonder233: 8:48pm On Nov 15, 2021
The panel should make public the names of the police and army officers as well as the names of the victims that died at the toll gate. That is how to do a thorough job. This looks like bringing out a report to satisfy everyone

This one is still going into marriage even with the oerwhelming evidence that marriage in africa holds no single advantage especially for the male gender and is a huge scam designed to emasculate him by placing a false sense of authority and headship on him and slamming him with numerous disadvantages...and it gets worse, the females of today are by default prossstittutes. So, what really is in it for the man?

Thank you my brother. Most people here just want to sound politically correct, when we know the type of society we live in where at any slight instance people want to mete jungle justice on you without even taking into cognizance that it was an accident and that you even voluntarily stopped.
AlieninPH:
Thank you, most of the people who post on Nairaland don't have cars.
Same happened to me at Mosogar, Warri, a long time ago. After hitting a pedestrian that unexpectedly ran into my car, i came down. The car behind me stopped and the driver dragged me into his car and told me that I must escape from the scene or be killed by villagers. I quickly entered the vehicle, we drove to Benin straight to police Hq, where I gave myself up to the Police.
To cut a long story short, by the time I came in police convoy back to Sapele, the Sapele boys told me in the presence of the police that their plan was to burn me inside the vehicle, but I was lucky to escape.

Typical Nigerian, would want to write what is generally acceptable on a public platform. What I wrote is the hard reality. Deal with it.
naija1stnigar:
I know you have to justify your cruelty but I have seen many claiming responsibility for an accident and the victim was saved even when the chances of survival were slim, so, don't come here to encourage cruelty cos only a heartless person will find himself in such situations and still eat in peace knowing what he just did to a fellow human.

Me I wasn't referring to the story per se, I was addressing the issue of driving and hitting someone by mistake
andyanders:
My question now is ; how was the police able to found out that he was responsible since it was hit and run?

In another post, it was stated that his wife was contacted to pay #100 mill..

The story is not adding up.
CrimeRe: Tordue Salem: I Thought He Was An Armed Robber - Taxi Driver Who Hit Him by wonder233:
Most people commenting here don't drive. Look, when you inadvertently knock down a pedestrian or biker, you have a split second to make a decision: If you see in that split second the injury isn't bad, you can stop to offer assistance, if you see the person is dead, then you just have to make a run for it.
It may sound callous, but it is the ugly truth no one wants to admit to. It doesn't mean you don't feel remorse, but it was an accident, you didn't do it deliberately. The person has already died, your stopping to be lynched, killed, sent to prison adds no value to the situation.
This is the hard truth.
N.B. my comment is strictly about driving and driving scenarios. Not about whether this fellow is telling the truth or not or whether the journalist was kidnapped or not.

Brilliant! You spoke my mind. In the western world,
you won't see any singling out of 'special people'. All victims would be equally recognized and mourned. But here in Africa, we do status even in death!
Scottz:
I don’t get all these kind of news
A lot of people died so please as you channel your energy to find out about a particular individual that died, kindly do the same to other victims like the laborers.

Why would dozens of people die and then because one of them is probably in the spotlight, you make it look like the person is any better than the other victims. So it’s like saying oh she shouldn’t have died because she was to wed she was the PA to the owner of the building hence, her death is not supposed to happen. What about the other victims the poor ones the laborers looking for what to eat why can’t you find out how many children they’ve left behind, how poor they are, etc

Rip to the dead it’s such a sad one but when things like this occur stop singling out certain individuals and telling us their status before they died. It makes no sense.
God go protect us Amen
