Politics › Re: Fuel Price To Remain ₦162 Until FG Agrees With Labour by wonder233: 10:26am On Aug 18, 2021 |
The discourse is not about securing lives and properties, so don't try to do that stale psychological bullcrap of trying to sound balanced and neutral by appearing to concede on an unrelated issue. Stick to the discussion at hand, it is about fuel subsidy. Very funny you mentioned "objectivity". Okay, let's do a little objective analysis: In case you've forgotten or pretend to, this is a timeline of events. Prior to assuming power, the regime said there was nothing like subsidy, that it was a scam. After assuming power, they did indeed see there was subsidy and told us they are doing a partial deregulation, which shot prices up to N125, later, they said full deregulation which further shot prices up to N140. Then another "total full deregulation", this time no price fixing by PPPRA and the then minister for state Kachikwu said market forces will determine and ultimately prices will go down just like GSM. This led to the varied prices of N162, N165, N170, etc. Now, they are saying another full deregulation, still saying subsidy, still saying price fixing, still saying talks with labour, still saying palliatives, all the familiar rhetorics. And you can't bring yourself to say they've failed economically...cos that would mean you agreeing with "those other people", right? opeyemi2012: I am not an ardent supporter of this administration. I feel they have failed woefully in terms of securing lives/properties. However, the truth remains paying subsidy is not sustainable. Be objective and stop being sentimental. |
Politics › Re: Fuel Price To Remain ₦162 Until FG Agrees With Labour by wonder233: 6:56am On Aug 18, 2021 |
There is nothing like palliative. That word is just a vague term that means absolutely nothing and you know that. You also know there's nothing like "channeling savings from subsidy to infrastructural development", you know that's a meaningless phrase, you know, don't you? But you still have to just write them out on nairaland because you are an ardent supporter of this administration and you can't bring yourself to criticize them, cos doing that would make you sound like those from that section of the country you hate so much. So, you rather try to sound politically correct. opeyemi2012: Well, it was going to happen sooner or later anyways.
I hope they provide adequate palliatives and channel the savings from non payment of subsidy to productive use such as infrastructural development and social intervention programmes |

Family › Re: Why Getting Married When You Are Struggling Financially Is A Bad Decision! by wonder233: 11:29pm On Aug 16, 2021 |
Good perspective. I think this is sound reasoning. The thread to which you're replying is also true to am extent, only, you put it in a more refined and broad perspective. You spoke a language people with a higher IQ understand, he spoke to the majority basic-thinking average Nigerian by using terms like "someone's daughter" etc. The other moot point he of divergence between you two is that in this clime, marriage connotes having kids, you really can't get married and "decide" not to add to the family. The average Nigerian will face harrasment from all quarters, such that they will rather choose the lesser harrasment of "when are you getting married". So, in conclusion, I think it is necessary to have both your perspectives out there for effective dissemination to all categories MrBrownJay1: all you people are looking at marriage with a failed vision.... you dont need money to get married, marriage is just an extention of a r/ship sealed by a useless piece of paper....if you guys were broke and could date happily, then there is no reason why you couldnt get married and still be happy. the problem here is that all you people are thinking that a broke couple should do exactly the same thing as one with money, while the couple with little money needs to ADAPT TO THEIR SITUATION until they have enough money to care for a family (aka children etc)
a lot of people are quick to call a man/woman broke because they only have money to take care of their own needs, but the reality is that there are many people who are broke because they paid their rent, put food in the fridge and paid their bills etc. if 2 broke people join hands, then they can EASILY live happily ever after (so long as they dont try to add to their family). so a broke married couple needs to take contraception, need to cut their coat according to their situation and they need to work towards getting a better life situation in order to have kids etc
it takes money for a single person to take care of their basic need... its called LIFE and everyone should be able to take care of their basic needs before thinking of marriage, same for married ones. you dont need "more" money to get married than the money you each had to take care of your basic needs, if your spouse cant/couldnt take care of their basic needs then you shouldnt get married and that person should sort that part of their lives 1st before thinking of getting married, as they are a LIABILITY
as for your hustle statement, no wonder so many men fail in marriage when they think that having money to take care of a liability is the solution to their problem....a liability is a LIABILITY whether you bring more money to the table or not. |

Politics › Re: Plateau Massacre: Buhari Orders Military To Kill Illegal Weapon Holders by wonder233: 1:29pm On Aug 10, 2021 |
By illegal weapons holders he is referring to indigenous peoples who are trying to resort to self help in self-defence just to stay alive. Illegal weapons by this categorization also includes stones and catapults. Just so we are clear, the federal government earlier this year clarified that those legally authorised to bear arms are the security agencies and Fulani herdsmen whose peculiar occupation of wandering in dangerous terrains justifies their bearing of arms. "Dangerous" here includes wild jungle animals or uncooperative indigenes whose lands they intend to grab. Oh, and to add, survivors of Fulani herdsmen attacks in plateau, Benue, Taraba, Kaduna and Oyo say there is a dedicated army response team strictly made up of Fulani officers and men who provide much needed backup to the Fulani militia when they encounter any armed resistance from the host communities. So, Buhari is putting y'all on notice. In as much as carry a stone to defend yourself, the response team will come after you. |

Shallow mentality. Is a woman a commodity? By default most Nigerians mentally adopt prostitution. Cos this is what this 'you must give women money' mindset means. A woman cannot have a job or a business like a man and legally make a living and get herself what she wants? Well I don't blame you Nigerians for thinking this way, you people still swear by your sacred bride price practice - which inherently and ultimately makes a woman for sale. It doesn't matter whether it's symbolic N25 in Edo or literal N2.5m in Imo. The message is clear, a woman is a commodity. You're sidestepping the question. Let me rephrase it since you're pretending not to understand: if in a society, some people decide to take the vaccines and others decide not to, those who took the vaccines are protected from those who didn't. So the question is why the force, cohesion and threats? All what you wrote up there makes no sense, since when have people especially in the west cared so much? It is always mind your business so long you are not harming anyone. So why this sudden care? drakeli: you are not forced to protect yourself. I have seen anti vacc people like you killed by covid only for them to be advising people to be vaccinated on their death bed that covid is real. Covid may not be real in your country. It is in mine |
Health › Re: CNN Fires Unvaccinated Employees For Going To Office by wonder233: 12:32pm On Aug 07, 2021 |
Who has no access to the vaccine in the US? The basis of this discussion is the CNN firing of employees who as a matter of choice decide against taking the jab. In the United States, the debate isn't about access or availability, it is about choice. The vaccine protects those who have taken it from those who haven't, so why the compulsion? I want you to address that. Don't just rehash cliches you've heard like "protecting those who have no access bla bla bla" . Put on your thinking cap and analyse it independently. donbenie: The fact that you are of no harm to the vaccinated, does not mean that you are of no harm to others.. There those who have no access to the vaccine.. Therefore your recalcitrant behavior is placing them at harms way.. And the funny thing is.. You will still go to the social media.. To post all manners of fake videos on the vaccine.. Discouraging the gullible from getting vaccinated.. |

You're just an African, what do you know? You can't think for yourself, you just follow the bandwagon and your low self-esteem deludes you into thinking you're smart. If you can think, take this simple test: vaccination means you are protected from contacting the virus when you come in contact with me that is not vaccinated, right? So why do you need to force me to also be vaccinated? You're already protected, I am of no harm to you. drakeli: I’m fully vaccinated. Am I carrying 666 now? People can be funny |

TV/Movies › Re: Esther Benyeogo Emerges Winner Of The Voice Nigeria 2021 by wonder233: 1:08pm On Jul 25, 2021 |
I agree with you. However, what made season 2 flop was that the votes overshadowed the talents. Good talents like Kendrix Ologidi, Arewa Comfort, Efezino, Wow, etc got lost cos they didn't have the outside muscle to pull votes. I think this season, they rectified it by overriding votes. They simply used good judgement to ensure those who deserve to proceed , proceeded and gave the crown to the truly standout talent which was Esther. Cos if it was by mobilising votes, Esther may not have had the outside connection to mobilise bloc votes and would have dropped out. Then, one mediocre like Nuel Ayo would have progressed through the stages and eventually win ThierryJay: In fact, I think the production took a break since 2017 because of how awful that Season 2 was rated.
Of course season 1 is still the best. Had madly talented contestants everywhere from Joe blue, Vicky, Chike, Cornel, Dewe, Promise, Nonso, Michael, Jennifer, Arese, David Operah, Obed, Emem. All these guys were vocal beasts. |
