What annoys me most is how they are so quick to insult anyone who tries to complain. They are now oppressors like the SARS they are protesting against modsfucker: Seriously bro, I felt like entering those protesters when I was caught up in a gridlock caused by them, yesterday. As I type now, I'm caught up in their nonsense protest on Gwarimpa Expressway in Abuja. They stopped all forms of vehicular movement into or out of Abuja, from that axis. |

Be insulting anyone that has divergent views. You're now power drunk, oppressing your fellow citizens just like the SARS you're protesting against. Many people whose means of sustenance depends on that road you are blocking will continue to react this way till you realize you can't crowd bully everyone. It's simple: protest without blocking the road MrColdsweat: [s][/s]

You tell them, dem no go hear. Rather they insult and try to crowd bully you. The one that rammed into the blockade in Osun was a man rushing his only child to hospital. You think he will standby and watch his child die? That same road is many people's source of sustenance, you have been denying them for about a week now, and you don't know that's more than enough motive to kill? Protest but don't block the road and be trying to bully me to keep quiet that you're fighting for me. TecM0:

Stop blocking traffic stop blocking roads , you can protest without delaying others

End SARS, SARS has been ended. Release protesters, protesters have been released. Accept 5point reform demand. 5point reform demand accepted. Start prosecuting indicted SARS personnel. Prosecution commenced. No member of SARS should be part of new unit. Done. Members of new unit must undergo mandatory psychiatric evaluation. Agreed. You guys can keep insulting everybody that disagrees with continuing the protests, but know this:, many people make their living from those roads you are blocking. Denying someone access to his livelihood is more than enough motive to kill. You guys can keep being delusional that govt or anyone is sponsoring anyone to attack you. ijesuoboikxp1: Nigeria will go a long way to be good in the future, The so called Buhari, is not saying anything or reacting, or is it that we are in another country where there is no president or leadership, every where is going banana, but it just seems like the leaders don't know what to do, or they ran out of ideals, They should solve this problem right away before it cause another matter for person body, see what happen today at Ringroad, hmmm, it was scaring if this continue in two weeks time or more there will be serious problem. ... |

The primary duty of the State is the protection of the fundamental human rights of it's citizens.
One of such rights is the right to peaceful assembly. The protesters are exercising that right. It is the duty of the State to provide protection for them and ensure they are safe from hoodlums, criminal elements and even unruly counter-protesters whether sponsored or organic.
Another of such rights is the right to freedom of movement. The state has a duty to protect the rights to unhindered movement of citizens who wish to go about their lawful activities at all times.
The State fails when it forcibly breaks up protests under the guise of upholding "freedom of movement".
The State also fails when it stands back and does nothing when protesters deny other citizens access to public roads thereby violating their rights to free movement cos it wants to be seen as supporting freedom of expression.
It doesn't matter who is in the majority at any given time - whether the protesters or the other citizens, the State must ensure simultaneous protection of everyone's rights at all times. |

Aunty, I don't have any job. I'm a cab driver. I vigorously clamoured for an end to the covid lockdown. I invite you to check my previous posts. You guys don't just get it: nobody is saying you can't protest, protest, but don't block the roads. you can't be infringing on my rights, to protest the infringement of yours. And why aren't you guys tolerant of divergent views? Always quick to insult and bully anyone not in your bandwagon with the whole "we are doing what you don't have courage to do shii"? I have a right to disagree. You guys should stop acting like the monsters you're protesting against janeedema: And when the dividends of what they are fighting for comes through, you become a beneficiary, right? In other words, you are okay with the way Nigeria is.
When you were locked up at home for months in the name of a COVID-19 pandemic that people were clearly sabotaging and making money from, you didn't scream foul.
I think the least you can do if you can't join the protest, is congratulate those who have the courage to do what you couldn't do.
These guys are inconveniencing themselves to send a message across. They are fighting not just for themselves, but for generations unborn.
So, stop being selfish, because whether you like it or not, with the way Nigeria is going, soon, no one would have a means of livelihood due to the looming insecurity and poverty in the land.
Never forget:
That you have a job today, doesn't mean those without one aren't hardworking enough.
Some people lost their jobs from the pandemic, and businesses were shut. Yet our government never gave palliatives to people who felt the heat most.
If you think you are safe because you haven't been hit by police brutality today, don't cry when it becomes your story tomorrow.
quote author=wonder233 post=94950700]My thoughts exactly. I've been denied access to my means of livelihood for about a week now by the road blockades. It is their rights to protest. It is also my right to have access to a public road. It is an infringement on my rights to be denied road access. Protesters should converge on one side, while others who wish to go about their lawful duties can go about their activities. |

Reform of the police to reposition them for better professionalism is in order. This shouldn't be a North-South thing. Personally I'm satisfied with the results of the protests. However, I think the govt should now be left to implement the demands. Creation of the new SWAT is in order, provided they follow through with best practices. For those saying, nothing else should be created at all, hope they realize it's impossible for a police force to be without a dedicated special response unit. |

Continue trying to insult and bully everyone into submission with insults. Until you're slapped or even stabbed by one frustrated danfo driver that couldn't meet his daily target and feed his family, then your numbskull may finally get it that access to a public road is as fundamental a right as that to protest. We've been telling you to protest without blocking the road, you no wan hear, you're power drunk like the same SARS you're protesting against, violating rights, same way they did. E go be for you soon Jwonder: I’m glad there’s social media, the world is watching, government paying thugs to attack protesters who are only asking for a reformed police. Peaceful protesters got killed, Sars has been killing people and not even one police man has been arrested and some idi*ts on nairaland wants us to stop protesting.
I am just praying that, all those Buhari advisers should continue encouraging him, the moment he unleashes the military, he has given us a reason to petition HAGUE! This is 2020, not 1974, you can’t just kill people and get away with it.
THIS GENERATION WILL CHANGE NIGERIA FOR GOOD
Firstly! Alausa protest is in front of the government house, and okada has been banned on major roads so what are you even talking about, you Buhari apologist are really insane, you keep defending a failure even when it is clear that your master is a failure.
You think we would trust this government to carry out those reforms, same government that have not arrested any police man for the killing of innocent protesters. You Buhari supporters think we are all dumb like you. We keep protesting until government implement every reform we asked for, we don’t want promises, we all know Buhari never keeps to any of his promises.
IMPLEMENT IS IMMEDIATELY! |
