Just like an entrepreneur willing to take that risk, or that man willing to marry that lady regardless of the oppositions. Believing in something or someone and willing to go ahead to execute your plans is the confidence that less independent people do not possess. “Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your ......http://www.workgist.com/benefits-of-independence/

Nairaland / General / Turning A Flaw Into A Feature: The Cracked Pot by workgist: 2:57pm On Jul 15, 2015
In my office doing my work online as usual before i luckily came across this uplifting story i wish to share with my readers …… Please enjoy

Once upon a time there was a water-bearer in India who had two large pots, each hung on each end of a pole which he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it, and while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water at the end of the long walk from the stream to the master’s house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pot full of water in his master’s house.Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect to the end for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do....http://www.workgist.com/turning-a-flaw-into-a-feature-the-cracked-pot-an-uplifting-story/
Career / Tips To Help You Make A Great Impression In Your First Day At Work by workgist: 3:07pm On Jul 10, 2015
First impressions matters a lot in our relationship in life. In categorizing people, we all take shortcuts, and first impressions about people often turn into long-term perceptions and reputations — which are good for people who make positive first impressions, but bad for people who make negative first impressions.

The moment you step into an organization for the first time your boss and colleagues start forming there impression about you. People will take you as seriously as you seem to take yourself — and your work.

And in the workplace, during those first few early days where you are meeting everyone — and everyone is meeting you — first impressions about you and your future potential can make a major impact on your future success with the organization.
How can you improve your chances for making a great first impression when you’re starting a new job?....http://www.workgist.com/tips-to-help-you-make-a-great-impression-in-your-first-day-at-work/
Career / Ways To Be Free From Debt: Keys To Live Within Your Means by workgist: 2:40pm On Jul 07, 2015
To “live within your means” mean that you are most likely free from debt. It means that what you spend each month is less than or at least equal to the amount of money you bring in each month. For many people, it’s a lot easier said than done. Loans, savings, and even emergency funds allow you to buy more things than your income would allow. Unfortunately, that kind of lifestyle isn’t sustainable and, at some point, your reckless spending will catch up to you. Your savings and access to credit will run out and when that happens, you’ll be forced to make some important changes or face financial ruin.....http://www.workgist.com/ways-to-be-free-from-debt-keys-to-live-within-your-means/

Career / Things You Need To Do While You're Unemployed by workgist: 2:05pm On Jun 25, 2015
If you’re unemployed and worried that employers will turn you down for taking on unimpressive work during the recession or for the large employment gaps on your resume—you needn’t panic. A new survey just released by the careers website CareerBuilder.com reveals that the vast majority of employers are sympathetic to such circumstances.

“More than 40% of unemployed job seekers have been out of work for six months or longer,” says Rosemary Haefner, vice president of human resources for CareerBuilder. “There’s a sense that such a long gap on a résumé negatively affects a candidate’s chances, but the survey shows that is not true. That’s very positive news for this group of job seekers. If you fill the gaps with activities and experience that illustrate how you are still developing your skill sets, the overwhelming majority of employers will look past your unemployment and focus on what you can bring to their team.”http://www.workgist.com/things-you-need-to-do-while-youre-unemployed/
