jauntty: I was informed now that he has gotten a lawyer and are negotiating his bail terms. Something else came up. The lawyer was suggesting that they settle Out-of-court. akmoses: So if one is asked to show proof of funds, do you show them the statement of account or what?If it's a real statement of the money in your account on that day the yes that is what you do. If the statement is out of date or you have taken all the money out to pay back a loan than you are in trouble. They are likely to check your bank and they will fid out the truth! If you are honest and are following the rules then you have nothing to worry about. |

bidibudi: pls throw more light on this ooooThis is a very silly situation to be in. As a Student in the UK your school is required to check on your financial ability to support yourself! Even if you are not questioned at immigration, your school will find out and report you to UKBA. Then deportation with all your money lost and the shame of telling your friends and family! It has been stated hundreds of times that you need that money to survive! There are no magic sources of funds so how will you live and eat? Do you expect to fall into a well paying job instantly? |

If he get's bail he had better be carefull that he does not end up in the hands of the very angry family! He is reasonably safe in jail. He could be the victim of "Street /Jungle Justice" if the family get hold of him! "An eye for an eye" A life for a life"! |

agates: @ justwise is it true one's statement of account would be checked at the point of entryIf somone gives the security people a cause to look closely at them. Then it is possible that they would check on finances. But not everyone on every flight. |

3sha4lyf: Lol...what does it matter, really? sponsors can't guarantee that the traveller will return to his/her country after the end of the trip so they are really not a bonafide tie to home country.You are replying to something that you don't understand and have made yourself look ignorant! You have opened your mouth before thinking and understanding my question! It the sponsor was in the country that the poster wants to visit that is a big red flag. It may look like the poster has no reason to return home. As the sponsor is in the home country of the poster they may be able to show this as links to home. It will not be easy and it will need a good explanation of why someone would sponsor the person. |

I bet that there will still be SEVERE RESTRICTIONS on visa for Nigerians. They have too bad reputation for overstaying in those countries. I do not believe that Nigerians will get multiple entry work visa for non skilled jobs. |

Renewal of the residence visa will cost Dh200 per year for a family member of a worker employed by governmental bodies, private sector or free zones, while the renewal charge for investors and partners will be Dh250 per year. The entry permit or its renewal for domestic workers sponsored by Emiratis or citizens of GCC countries will cost Dh150 per year, while the charge for workers sponsored by foreigners will be Dh200. The visa for a domestic helper sponsored by an investor or a partner will cost Dh250. The new measures will include the issuing of a new array of entry permits and visas, such as multiple entry permits for visit or work; the activation of study visas, and entry permits for medical care and attending conferences. The new Cabinet decision sets up a fund for the deportation of violators of the residency rules. Resources for the fund will come from deposits encashed after applicants fail to honour their obligations under the law. |

He is interested in spending his next vacation in the UK. He knows nobody in the UK. What are the chances of obtaining the visa. We need your wealth of advice because he is a first timer and has no tie in Nigeria except his job.It's not good news i'm afraid. As a person with No ties to home AND First time. He would also be spending most of his savings on the trip which is another red flag. To be very honest he would be wasting money trying for a U.K. visitors visa. |

Chatters: @ lassky, it doesn't matter the number of pages you use in your SOP. Explain yourself explicitly. Don't bother writing just one page if it doesn't explain your situation. Write as many pages as possible then start editing and only keep relevant information.It's important to remember that busy people will only scan what you write! If you send ten pages they will not absorb much information, it will all be wasted. If you send half a page of clear concise information it will be better received than 10 pages of rambling story. |

codebreaker: Nice one.. Whats your take on University of Alberta. I thought it was No 3 in CanadaRather than take the opinion of people on here. You could contact the University and department that you are interested in, or their Student Union. Then you can ask for details of recent past students and the success rate of job placement. If they have a good success rate they will be proud to give you information. If they will not then ask yourself why! 1 Like |
