Buhari is not only an incompetent illiterate, he's also a physically depleted President who doesn't have the mental and physical structure to write his own speech or read the national dailies to appraise himself with the feeling of the Nigerian people.
He surrounds himself with petty tribal bigots with a shallow knowledge of Nigeria's political history.
Seems the President goes embarrassingly ballistic anytime he reads a speech or face the mic. From a plagiarised inauguration speech to several cascading speeches home and abroad before settling for a horrible independence Day speech that jolted even the most passive political observers.
I think the President's political flank men have dented whatever is left of Buhari's moral authority as a competent president. |

DJperdurabo: The OP's term (past 57 years) precludes the idea that the vehicle must have been in use by Nigerians for 57 years. Rather, it is a reflection of vehicles that graced our roads during the formative years of our nation, sort of "old school" if you get the drift.
The Mercedes in question was heavily in use througout the late 70s till even now. How old was Nigeria in 1978...about leaving her teens. Quite a misleading title and article by any measure. And this isn't the first time that Op is making posts without proper research. |

They are definitely not ghosts to appear and disaapear at will after wrecking havoc. Some people are not telling us the truth about these Boko Haram. They just don't emanate from some thick forest and disappear without being notice. Those people live amongst communities and are being protected by the communities from which they regroup and attack. How do they disguise and live freely? The FG and the Northerners better start looking into the activities of herdmen and start profiling them. Until the Northerners are sincere with themselves about Boko Haram, the carnage will continue till forever. zoedew: Relevance is a function of usage. A thing ceases to be relevant the moment it is no longer put to use. That exactly is the rason d'etre for the Bill i.e. If nothing is done to stem the tide of the abandonment of the Yoruba language in Lagos State it should soon become irrelevant and unsustainable. Got the point? All the French we were made to undergo in secondary schools in Nigeria...how many people remember the language today? Language is sustainable by culture, power soft or real and influence never by compulsion. Latin English Portuguese Now Chinese languages were all once global languages learnt for their relevance in the business world, technology and culture. The Yoruba by their Geopolitical positioning with Lagos as the gateway to Nigeria doesn't need legislative ordinance to maintain the language. 90% of Lagosians speak the language and it's the dominant language in south west even before the English language. So putting it in a bill is just a waste of legislative time and exercise. |

A language is only sustainable by its relevance. Never by compulsion.
Making it compulsory will only make students engage it as a mere academic exercise and relegate it for examination marks only.
Same thing happened when itsekiri was lumped into our curriculum in primary schools in Warri then. Most of us thereafter can't make a simple sentence in that language today .
Does the Yoruba language need this legislative fiat of compulsion? No.

Dottore: You are dead in this country if you know nobody. Just like I was driving away from a Bureau de change Office in Owerri road in Enugu State sometime ago. I was with my younger sister in the car, suddenly a green Toyota Carina E car drove pass me and blocked me just a few yards before a mosque in the area prompting me to brake suddenly.
At first I thought it was robbers. I quickly engaged the reverse gear but before I could reverse or make meaningful movement two guys had quickly alighted from the Carina E they were armed and had Police Bullet proof vests though they weren't putting on uniforms. The first shock of robbery thought left me. One was shouting "Police don't move" at the same time corking his rifle. Before I knew it the other one opened the passenger door and asked my sister to come down and enter their car so he will take her position in my car. I quickly stepped down and demanded to know what our offence was. I had thought maybe I had committed a traffic offence but on a second thought I reasoned that we weren't on a major road and we didn't drive pass any traffic light and I know very well that neither of us is a criminal so I stood my ground and refused to go anywhere.
A crowd had started gathering. A third person came down from their car and wanted to patronize me by talking softly saying that I should be a gentlemen and just follow them to SARS Office so I don't provoke the other two that they are usually impatient and ruthless. I wasn't cowed by what he was saying.
I was already aware of the police gimmick in Enugu then. They would arrest an innocent fellow, accuse you of a heinous crime or having links with criminals, detain you for days if not weeks, tactically intimidate you to save your reputation and bail your self with huge sums or else they threaten to take you Intermittently to your residence in cuffs to conduct a search.
The third person who preferred to speak more friendly asked me a few questions about what I do for a living and all that and why I went to bureau de change. I told him I just came back from China few days before then and I needed some Naira notes to clear some goods by Air freight. He said I shouldn't worry that they will only conduct some investigation that I should just follow them that he will make sure they don't harm me but I vehemently refused. I just changed like 1,300dollars, I knew they would want to extort me when we get there so I kept demanding to know what I did. I scrolled up a number on my phone to make a call but before I knew it they seized our phones. I later obliged them, two entered my car we left while their car was coming behind. When we got there, before we could go in, I saw a very senior Police Officer who happens to be a family friend. He was surprised seeing me there, after I told him the ordeal he felt bad and got my phones from them and handed them over to me and asked us to leave. All the criminals in Nigeria are now being given uniforms by our Government! |

Nigeria police the disgrace of the world! The fact that the police man said a woman cannot sign a bail bond is enough reason to show the judge the police are unprofessional, corrupt and devilish.
Anyone can sign a bail bond, male or female. As long as you're an adult, have a means of livelihood and a fix address. That's all the law says.
The demons who are our political leaders will never make any serious move to sanitise the police institution because they exploit the corruption there to antagonise the opposition and ordinary people. |
