PoliticsRe: APC, PDP Refuse To Disclose Campaign Funding Sources by writeprof(m): 2:22pm On Sep 10, 2022
Section 88 of the Electoral Act, 2022 pegs the amount a presidential candidate can spend to prosecute an election at N5bn, while the sum an individual or entity can donate to the candidate is N50m.

That means a potential president's salaries and 'official' allowances for 4 years would be more than ₦5billion huh

This was disclosed by the Minister of Transportation, Engr. Mu’azu Sambo, during the inspection of the project, on Friday, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Hope former Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, was on hand to receive this open insult directly from his successor for all his 'loyalty' grin

PoliticsRe: 2023: Peter Obi Should Stop Dragging Church Into Politics – Okowa by writeprof(m): 1:45pm On Sep 01, 2022
"Now you begin to look at what is going on; the Peter Obi factor is as if he is trying to go through the church and make it look as if he is driving the Christians into politics. I do not believe that the church should actively go into politics because that is not their calling.

Foolish talk from a supposed leader. How does he define the church?

TravelRe: Untold Truth About Why Immigrants Are Leaving Canada by writeprof(m): 12:35am On Aug 28, 2022
Do you think these reasons are valid? Or are they exaggerated?

OP, thank you. The reasons are very valid. I see sense and sincerity in your post. In short, I had ruled out Canada as a place to migrate to especially because of the cold before now except for holidays. Your post only reinforces my position.

Stay blessed.

PoliticsRe: Wike To Lamido: Only In Nigeria Person With Primary School Cert Can Be Minister by writeprof(m):
The only identity they have in this country is religion and ethnicity, nothing more. It’s either I’m a Christian or I’m a Moslem, I’m a Fulani or I’m an Igbo. Nigeria cannot move forward except they think it will be them. That’s where we are.

“We are in a country where someone with primary school certificate can be appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs. That tells you how bad this country has become. move forward except they think it will be them. That’s where we are.

“We are in a country where someone with primary school certificate can be appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs. That tells you how bad this country has become.

Until other members of Southern Nigeria political class & elites start becoming angry and sincere like Wike, we may not really see a NEW NIGERIA emerging soonest.

SpecialAdviser:
Never in the history of the nation have we seen people doing things free for a politician.

From free house donations, Hausa guy opening free radio station and barber shop to all these. God is wonderful.

Is this some kind of magic? Is Arab spring about to replicate here? Are Nigerians working to Free themselves from divisions, deceit and stealing? Is this some sort of revolution?

Only time shall tell but personally I never believed a day that Obi can go this far. This is unbelievable. I pray we succeed. Together we are tired of this tribal divisions. We are tired of harsh economy. We are tired of manipulations. We are tired of the ruling class playing on our ignorance. We are just tired.

May God bring someone that can unite all of us and move the nation forward. Saraaaa

PoliticsRe: Obasanjo, Obi Meet With Wike, Others In London by writeprof(m): 9:51pm On Aug 25, 2022
What is the symbolism of LONDON (10 DOWNING STREET) in NIGERIA'S drive for GOOD GOVERNANCE and ACCOUNTABILITY come 2023?

Obasanjo
Atiku
Tinubu
Obi
Makinde
Ikpeazu
Ortom
Duke...
Do these men sincerely desire NIGERIA to become ORGANISED and WORKABLE like LONDON (UK) come 2023?

United Kingdom is organised and working because its component NATIONS of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are 'independent' to a large extent to develop at their pace with a strong local government (county) system that enables development as politicians start their job as public servants from there.
ARE NIGERIAN POLITICAL ELITES READY FOR A NEW NIGERIA TRULY?

My question is how did these monies leave Nigeria for those countries then when the world placed a lot of sanctions on Nigeria because of Abacha's government?

Abacha is a fall-guy for many accomplices to hide under because he is dead. Which banks and their directors et al moved these monies?

ABI ABACHA CARRY GHANA MUST GO FOR HEAD TAKE MOVE THE MONIES OUT?

The way many young people are covetous this days is very alarming. Sùrú lèrẹ́!

PoliticsRe: Who Are These Obidients? They Are EVERYWHERE — Femi Fani-Kayode by writeprof(m): 2:18pm On Aug 24, 2022
The truth is that they are far more dangerous to our collective cause as a ruling class than many of us can possibly conceive or appreciate.

FFK is up to something - calling his 'ruling class' to the trenches OR to order from a system that has made Nigeria a NATIONAL CAKE to be shared among them the ruling class?

He has not said anything new about the OBIdiently YUSful Labour Movement for a New Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: Garba Shehu Attacks The Guardian Editorial On Buhari’s Stewardship by writeprof(m): 2:02pm On Aug 24, 2022
“Impeachment is a process undertaken after high crimes and misdemeanours have been proven. It’s not a process undertaken against a leader whose politics you do not agree with, or who you personally dislike.

I stopped reading when I saw this. Can somebody please explain what "high crimes and misdemeanours" mean?

As an adult in 2015, I knew things had changed in terms of cost of living as 2017 when I asked for a salary increase from my boss then. She told me that banks were sacking their staff and the Govt (Federal &states) were owing salaries of their workers, so I should forget about pay rise. This was then...

That a sane person would say the picture of Nigeria today is COMMENDABLE beggars human imagination.

If we had a civilised and functional system where the buck truly stops at the president's table, the president would have resigned honourably, as well as his counterparts in the Senate and House of Reps.
PoliticsRe: Those That Have Stolen Every Kobo Of Nigeria Will Pay For It - Dapo Asaju (Video by writeprof(m): 1:43pm On Aug 24, 2022
God1000:
How do we stamp out corruption in Nigeria? It has become a serious cancer in our society.

Corruption is responsible for Nigeria's underdevelopment
By having people like Peter Obi who had refused to encourage the wasteful and flamboyant culture that drives corruption.

By having institutions driven by a strong culture of implementation of rules, regulations, as well as law keeping.

By EXPOSING to Nigerians that ethnicity, tribalism, & other forms of discriminations POWERED by politicians are mostly against NIGERIAN MASSES.

GOD BLESS NIGERIA.

When would Southern political elites learn to be united and coordinated like the North?

He is only fooling himself and his constituency to further make the Northern political elites affirm their grip on this country.

Their medicine go fade one day.

To even THINK political elites from the South South would still see something good in having another Northerner as Nigeria's president baffles me.

‘’Those that are left are on the verge of leaving. No government in the history of Nigeria has been so insensitive, brash and disrespectful of the best brains in the country. This is unfortunate and a shame,’’ the don lamented.

Ashiru, in an interview with Arise TV, monitored by one of our correspondents on Sunday, said the union was not going to call off its strike action as done by the other academic unions.
TravelRe: Africans - Nigerians END This 21st Century Slavery. They'll Never Like You. by writeprof(m): 12:04pm On Aug 21, 2022
etrange:
Hhmm... interesting thread.

I believe people are leaving mostly cause of the infrastructure and stability. I mean, who's going abroad to be liked by the Whiteman? Africans mostly mingle with Africans abroad. Financial planning is just extremely difficult in Nigeria even at a personal level. Abroad, you can predict how much you'd spend on transportation, power, groceries, etc. Many things are constant. Your taxes work for you and you get the support your business needs. In Nigeria, luck plays more roles than it should. Your cold room (frozen food) business could easily collapse because of the epileptic power supply or accidents cause by bad roads or poorly trained drivers. Even when you're lucky, you'd still have to pay your way through the corrupt system.

Let's not even talk about security. Is Nigeria really free? At a point, a black man in the racist America became safer than a black man in Maiduguri. We have people in the North who police your religion, your haircut, the way you dress, etc. Gay people are criminalized on the basis of religion and they're about to pass a bill against cross dressing. A man can easily wake up and kick out a woman that has dedicated a good deal of her life to raising his family. Women are excluded from inheritance. Politicians are above the law. Tribes are fighting tribes. Religions are fighting religions. The list is endless.

Yes, I agree that we are our own problem. But on the other hand, people move for economic reasons. They go to where thier skills will fetch them more values. The mere difference in currency value is already a big factor. This is because the things we consume are produced in a different currency and that undermines the value of our hard earned money. So I don't really blame those leaving. Go wherever you feel you're more equipped to make it. Let those that see the opportunities in Nigeria explore it.

PoliticsRe: 2023: Charly Boy Visits Obasanjo (Video, Photo) by writeprof(m): 10:07pm On Aug 20, 2022
Asked to advise "frustrated Nigerians" Obasanjo said, "That we are frustrated and poor is not the fault of God, it is the choice of our leaders. And if you have to change that, change our situation, you have to change leadership. I always say, Nigeria is my own baby, the one I want to put a beautiful bead on its waist, not an individual.

"In the north they say, 'La mu la muni'. 'Tiwa n tiwa', in south-east, it's 'Nka bu ka nyi.' Now, that is not the issue, the issue is Nigeria."

This I see.
