Ikem11: Listen young man, the problem with we humans is when we think we better off than others and try thinking they should change.
Don't try changing humans cos u didn't create them... All u can do is learn to cope with them and if you feel is something you can adopt to quit and life goes on.
That girl got a good heart I can imagine from you write up... But never try changing her and thinking your marriage will be healthy.
How your family of friends thinks or see your partner shouldn't concern you as long as she suites you close doors... The worse marriage is the close door fight marriage don't ever get your self involve in it.
Best of luck. I could have used this advice some years ago for real but I learnt my lesson and it has made me a better person in the making, we get this false ideal of perfection in those we love that we constantly want to see it in them. thankfully after my worst and only break up I learnt a lesson I intend to teach my kids some day too. |

Truckpusher: I don't really you.
Why can't you guys just respect boundaries and still coexist peacefully.
I personally hate going to church I dislike attending weddings, birthday parties in fact anything that will force me out of my comfort zone to socialize with people in large group turns me off and my wife knew how to let me be and not after we had our fights when she noticed initially. She can't change her life entirely simply because she's getting married to you nau. you have a point there, marriage is all about adaptation and just like sculpting the more you try to carve that perfect piece out of her the more you ruin the sculpture. respect is everything too. |

ginaolo: Hi
I’ve been with a lady for some time now but I’m starting to have doubts about this girl.
My main concern is that she is too reserved and she doesn’t like to do anything that involves people. I come from a big family unit and she’s always avoiding family get togethers, outings, even to meet my friends and socialise with them is a huge problem. We’ve gone out very few times, she’s met my mum and a few friends, but she avoids meeting them most time. I addressed it to her and she claims she has social anxiety but for how long can I continue like this? All she wants to do is be at home. My family are already starting to get the wrong impression of her and they believe she is proud. I know my older sister is not too fond of her because of her quiet nature and I think this will take a toll on us in the future if we get married. I don’t want a wife that cannot do basic things like go out with me to events or represent me well. I don’t want a wife that will be hiding in the house 24/7.
Another thing is that she has some stubborn traits in her. She’s a lovely woman, she’s very kind, compassionate and she motivates me a lot. When she’s around me alone she’s very cool, but when it comes to going out and doing things, she starts acting up. I cannot deal with her shy nature as it’s too much and it’s becoming embarrassing. She’s 24. What do I do please? currently dealing with the same thing with an in-law of ours, she is indeed what you call a good wife and a daughter in-law, she just happens to be not the associating type, doesn't visit much, talks less, and prefers to rather be at home alone, I mean her husband travelled for a business trip for like 5months and she was home alone . I don't have any problem with her because inside that quiet personality, she is a rare gem and a great home maker and for us that's very rare to find. any way you have to sit her down and talk with her, ours is becoming a lot better lol purposely her husy just likes dragging her out to the family and with her kid and escapes with the guys lol, it seems you really love her and that is a a big deal you should consider first. anxiety ,low self esteem has gotten the best of some of us at some point some can wave it off and others can't easily, maybe you can help her out. |

Romance › Re: How Can I Cut This Guy Off Without Hurting His Feelings? by WriterX(m): 11:14pm On Oct 09, 2019 |
Pettyprincess: There is this guy i met on 2go long time ago when i was fourteen years old, we exchanged contact and since then we have been talking and he did usually call me everyday just to hear my voice,he is way older than i am.
After sometime we lost contact, and we reconnected back on facebook and we started talking since then, he has always told me he likes me blah blah but still waiting till i am mature enough.
So when i clocked 18, he told us to meet which i agreed and we actually met at a bar and he finally told me about his feelings physically and said he would love us to date but i declined because i actually had no feelings whatsoever for him but i said we can be friends.
So since then he has been calling me every single day, everyone in my family knows him because of his constant call and one day he told me he is at our area that he would love to see me i actually agreed even if i never wanted because people at my area will think i am dating this guy and i know he is not my type moreover after my first (unserious) bf that cheated on me because i didn't give him chochie i decided never to date Nigerian guy no more, but this guy that is crushing on me will not let me go.
After that first visit he now wants to turn to it to routine to always visit me whenever he is in Lagos which i am not comfortable with but i dont know how to tell him because he is really nice caring and has been there for me financially when i needed him but still it doesn't change my feelings.
Nw i gat a serious bf, although he is not Nigerian but he is also caring, honest, nice, very handsome and very tall and those are the features i like a guy to possess, especially I love when a guy is very tall because i am petite AKA portable ND this non Nigerian guy has already talked to my mum and my mum seems to like him a lot although they couldn't speak well because my mum not so fluent in English.
So this guy crushing on me still wants to be visiting me again after i told him i have gotten a boyfriend but he insisted that he will still visit me which i told him okay.
So later he called me that he is almost at my area but b4 he could call me later i quickly blocked his number, he has probably called me many times with his number but later he called me with another number but the moment i had his voice i pretended as if the connection was really bad and we actually didn't see that day.
I know what i did was bad which i have been feeling quilty of bt i dnt wanna give him false hope that we can still date.
So later he sent me a message on whatsapp asking if i blocked his number which i deny because he would be really hurt if i had told him the truth.
Even after denying i blocked his number he has been calling me with another number and my boyfriend got to know this guy nd told me to tell him the truth bt i can't because i know it will very hurtful for him.
Nw i need advice on how i can let this guy to know my bf doesn't want him to be disturbing me with calls or try to visit me no more without his feelings getting hurt.
I only need mature advice!!! hey if you are reading this, am gonna just give you a hint and let you know 65% of the comments on your thread are gonna be about your perceived arrogance in respect to your age and your past encounters and your decision not to date a Nigerian again. lol it was gonna happen, evidently like I say always people can only advice you from their own experience ,if they had bitter experiences they will give you bitter advices, if they had sour experiences they will give you sour advices thats how it works, I must commend your steadfast belief and conscience in letting off the Nigeria guy in a manner that won't hurt him. clearly he likes you alot , age is not a strong point for relationships and Iove if they think you're too young to start thinking of finding and believing in love let them be, just be you and do your thing. I feel for the guy but if you want to drop him off then do it slowly, listen I know somewhere you may still adore him as a good friend but in my experience honestly you can't hold on to him as a friend because he won't take you that way and that's alot of hurt on your conscience and to his emotions so reduce your communication with him, less calls, less texting, it was good to deny him from seeing you I know it's harsh the way I say it but trust me he is getting the idea already. and please be careful okay we tend to act and do crazy stuff over girls when we feel rejected , so please be careful, you must understand there is no easy way to let go or let off someone. my mom says it's like cutting off the placenta off a baby once it's out, you don't drag it or pray or wait for it to fall off you just cut it, the longer you delay the inevitable the much pain you are inflicting on the poor guy, okay am sorry but you are not a kid anymore this is your responsibility now. once again I hope you find true love wherever your heart is. |

So me and my friend who happens to be our neighbors son went with my dad and my uncle to check out his house that he was building , which was like in a different part of the town that wasn't really developed at that time (let's say my dad was building for the future lol) so we went there and trust us , we decided to go check out the area, me and my guy , we walked for like fifteen minutes before we came across a road with a few houses and thick bushes surrounding it. we walked down the road until we decided we were now getting lost and then we heard a Camry just coming up right at us, suddenly I felt a need to run before I even looked at my friend he was already running, the Camry overtook us and one of the dark shaded windows opened and one out of the four men inside starred at me with this reddish eyes that froze me to a stand still, in my head his eyes were evil. guess what, that speeding Camry went ahead of us and stopped at the end of the road , they came out and started acting like their car was faulty, we stood there Starring at them at the distance, I was shivering while my friend was panicking what scarred us was they were constantly starring at us down the road like they were waiting for us to come because that was the end of the road . Omon, I don't know how I saw it but I did see a foot path in the bush beside me stopped starring at us for a while and pretended to be fixing their car as usual we both ran into the bush path and honestly I don't know how we found our way through the thorns but ended up just outside the bush a good distance away from that junction, I don't know what happened after them cause if you see the race way me and my friend run lollz in the distance we could hear a car racing but Usain Bolt go respect us for that run way we run. We went back to the site sweating like people who trekked the Sahara and out of fear we didn't tell them what happened , my dad would have perfected human anatomy with some good lashes lol. |

Do you know that a 16 year old person is a candidate for UTME? Now imagine when the parents of that child did not pay his education and development in the early years. What situation do you think that child would be 16 years later. Look, I don't support Buhari blindly. Disruption is necessary and only a strong personality as Buhari would do that as effectively as possible. you know what is really funny, majority of us who feel we are right to criticize the OP which evidently we are, still aren't intertwined with the proper use of the ENGLISH LANGUAGE, I can practically start assessing our comments and rule out words, contextual meanings, punctuation marks, tenses that don't make no sense to the statements but hey I guess our OP was way off the chart on this one and a good polite reply would have calmed the nerves. |

codemaniacs: In your opinion english is Nigeria's national language but most people don't care about english or even communicate in english in Nigeria.
it is not about wrong attitude to learning.. most people are limited to their teachers/lecturers knowledge even though they can do their own research and perform better... most times its about who is doing the teaching/lecturing and how the teaching/lecturing is been done..
where they given tests and class works to test their knowledge?
I am not defending stupid attitude because the OP is not stupid. you are the one who puts anything foreign above the indigenous cultures of the country. Again, its about how the OP was taught and you understanding that there is no such thing as "higher education" because education does not end in university.. I honestly enjoyed your write up, thanks for this excellent piece, most of my study in literature and english as a writer had little bearing to what I learnt from school, the idea of higher learning is really not what some of us see it to be. |

zikter: There is something like "fluent in spoken and written English" in the job market as well. The point is that, no serious organization will employ someone that writes poorly in this way. It is not all about understanding the communication. On the basis of his written English, one cannot vouch that, he does not have the IQ to pass the course. No one is looking for a perfect write up, but this is below minimum for an undergraduate and even for some of us that are not English masters. Oh there goes some one I can actually support his view and opinion, I think what I sensed was the reaction that followed the first person to point out the errors. we Nigerians just don't have that polite way or manner of resolving things, it's like we emphasize much more on the criticism and less on the correction we can actually give out. I myself do not have a problem with the first person who pointed out the errors, he did it same way I would correct my English students but the follow ups just seem like a slaughter and yes the op didn't try to take corrections as well which seem to aggravate the problem here but anyways I totally agree with you on this one. |

What is there gain?"
Does this thing make any sense to you? IF YOU HONESTLY BELIEVE THAT THE ABOVE HAVE NO SENSE IN WHATSOEVER WAY AND THE CONTEXT DO NOT COMMUNICATE ANYTHING TO YOU THEN I BELIEVE YOU HAVE NEVER UNDERSTOOD ANYTHING COMMUNICATED TO YOU IN PIDGIN ENGLISH BECAUSE IN ACTUALITY BROKEN ENGLISH IS SIMPLY PIDGIN ENGLISH . |

midnighter: What!
Those examples you cited are completely different
He came to a public platform to lament the state of his department. he is presenting his case to us, the public, and we cant get through up to one sentence without being assaulted by one grammatical blunder or the other. And when it was pointed out to him, he couldnt even modify it; in fact he continued to argue
If he writes an assignment for a lecturer, and the person is overlooking his mistakes to get the meaning, thats because the lecturer is looking for particular key-points which are more urgent in that context. And even at that, at a point, with writing as shoddy as this, he will have to remove some marks for poor communication Why do you guys keep making excuses for the wrong thing..he should proof-read his writing before he posts an academic complaint, is it how he will continue until he graduates? we have a lot of problems in this country "and we cant get through up to one sentence without being assaulted by one grammatical blunder or the other." my simple question is this : was he or wasn't he able to communicate a message to you and the general public ? because the above quoted seem to be somewhat exaggerated and no I dont think he is right in anyway but if you could see past your point and just read what I posted earlier you would find out my view was based on the fact he was COMMUNICATING something to you which you however aren't concerned about, if his choice or use of words were that bad that it somehow uttered it's meaning say like how not putting a comma where it ought to be practically changes the rhythm or intent of a written or given statement then and only then YOU SHOULD AND CAN BEGIN TO GET WORRIED ABOUT THE POSTER. THE IDEA IS COMMUNICATION ITSELF NOT THE LANGUAGE BY WHICH IT IS ACHIEVED, IF THE POSTER FAILS IN COMMUNICATION THEN YOU CAN AS WELL AS I CAN, QUERY HIS LANGUAGE IN THIS SITUATION. |

bigbauer: Oag, this your grammar, hmmm. I wonder who lectured you on use of English. More so, how did you pass from JSS1 to UTME? With the likes of you in a department, why won't the department load shed? Dead weight is a thing. communication involves exchange of information between two or more parties with that been said if you could at least grasp the writer's intention based on the information he provided, i believe that's good enough. whilst I see no problem pointing out his or her errors, I don't think it's a cause to abuse the writer. Just like a lecturer or teacher would overlook a few errors in other subjects or courses apart from ENGLISH LANGUAGE and other courses strongly related to it in terms of wrongly spelt words . in all I sincerely think if you could understand what he meant by his content then you have little or no Justifiable cause to bother your distinguished self with his use of words. |
