A hand of applause for the writer. Articulated write-up. I hope it gets to the ears of the Ag VP.
I am sure the Ag. VP has good intentions but the cabals, people who dont want any good change because it benefits them are more powerful. Right now I think they are man-marking the Ag. VP. They are making sure he doesnt overstep their boundaries.
The NASS, Saraki and his group seems to be more coordinated than the Executive and being let off the hook, would want to move the people to their side.
Letz keep watching!

Surprisingly, this yr all my activities have been within d country so I do not have first hand info about the success of the Executive orders so far. Ermmm... but I think I saw a video clip someone made and from the video, there were less officials at the international wing of Lagos airport. I think the Executive order is in full force there.
I should travel within a month or 2 and I promise to give a feedback if we dont get it from someone else first.

There would be competitions in the various geopolitical zones. They wont havs to wait for money from the centre.
Now imagine a state like Lagos, it wont be just lagos this time but Osun and other Southwest states. They would be able to support each other.
No zone would feel cheated or used. They have their resources which they are in control of and they just contribute a particular percentage to the centre.
No geopolitical zone would talk of secession.

There would be effective management of resources and the GPs would look inward. And above all, there would be respect and peace.

PoliticsRe: Privatisation: Power Firms Risk Takeover Over Cash Crunch by xdos(m): 3:54am On Jun 20, 2017
This is a simple something.
Why cant these DISCOs go into partnership with Pre-paid meter companies and have them supply meters and also have a plan on how to recoup their money.

For them to invest in the DISCOs, they should have a strong financial base because this is a longterm profit biz. This is not a business you buy today and expect to make profit the next day. Infact they should expect a constant injection of funds prolly for d next 7-10yrs to upgrade equipments et al.

They keep making things look like Rocket science in Nigeria. Like Nnaji rightly said, they should seek for co-investors with strong finance base and the govt should give them a time frame or revoke the DISCOs from them
PoliticsRe: Swiss Bribery Scandal: NPA Threatens To Cut Ties With JV Partners by xdos(m): 3:18am On Jun 20, 2017
Thanks Omohayek. Let me start with the police character clearance certificates. I have never had to do anything within Nigeria that required a character clearance. Some countries like Angolan visa requirement is a police character clearance. The govt knows what to do to to eliminate most of these things. If most of these things are done online and maybe capture done at HQs, it would eliminate corruption to some extent. I tried renewing my FRSC license lately and I didnt have to pay an extra kobo because most of the things I did was online. Well let me see how far the Executive orders signed by the ag. President would go as per ease of doing business.
omohayek:
The answer to your question is really quite simple: reduce the size and scope of the Nigerian state, by abolishing most of the rules and regulations required to do even simple things, and outright privatizing most of the assets the Nigerian government is currently.
PoliticsRe: Restructuring: World Examples For Nigeria To Follow by xdos(m): 5:53pm On Jun 19, 2017
Like the Op said, the country would be splitted into 6 geopolitical zones. This means we wont be having 36 states now but just 6 geopolitical zones with equal constitutions. I agree with restructuring.
mrvitalis:
I have always said this ...what can we do when we restructure that each state can't do now ??

People talk about restructuring ...if we restructure today ...many state will not pay workers for years and our states are not matured for that ...imagine giving wike or fayosa more power

The problem when have with our current system is 1) the masses don't really partake in governance because they don't really contribute from their pocket

2) our revenue is very very very small compared to our population ...and the government are scared to tax cos they know the implications ( people will hold them more accountable
PoliticsRe: Swiss Bribery Scandal: NPA Threatens To Cut Ties With JV Partners by xdos(m): 4:56pm On Jun 19, 2017
You cant do business in Nigeria if you dont give kick back... This is the unfortunate truth.
How can this be stopped?
How can these corruption be mitigated?
Right from our schools. Lecturers will not give you your merited score if you dont buy their handouts.
You wont be enrolled in govt firms for internship if you dont bribe your way.
You'll have to be made to part with certain amount of money just to secure a job in Govt firms.
Just to get Tinted permit/Police character clearance from the police, you'll be made to part with huge sum of money.

* The way Nigerians and NPF treat big criminals VS small criminals.
* The manner in which a lot of Nigerians still support our criminal politicians while burning the Okada thieves.

The Criminal politicians stole every Nigerians future and the next generation, made criminals out of innocent citizens and still remain relevant and making selfish and criminal policies.

Those behind the free stuff are only trying to drive home an intellectual revolution that its either there is Law in Nigeria and no sacred cows or you free every small thief.

Science/TechnologyRe: Nigeria Ranks 114 Out Of 128 In Innovation Index 2016 by xdos(m): 8:09am On Jun 03, 2017
I say the same thing bro. Unfortunately its difficult to differential what is abnormal and what is normal in this country. Abnornal is the norm now. Someone enrolled in a MSc program in UNN.
First, they were tasked with refurbishing their class (i.e. buying AC, projectors and new slide vanes for their windows). Then they were made to organize seminars and cook for their Lecturers with their own money severally. The lecturers were even bold enough to tell the students to ensure they split each chicken into four parts. Time wont permit me to list other shameful acts by these lecturers. A 'whole UNN'. These are students who have paid their tuition fees oh. These lecturers make you feel they are doing you a favour.
So a lot of things in our schools need to be corrected. Schools should have standards. Infact that was why I said our lecturers need training. They need to be lectured on how to lecture.
Yes I also agree that the Jerry Rawlings system needs to take place in this country else... Nigeria requires total purge.

Like you didnt hear our minister say Nigeria will start producing pencils 2019.
The truth is our Universities are brain drain.
The only thing our schools prepare us for is how to seek and apply for jobs. They teach us how to speak good English.
Nigerians are intelligent I must say. When they leave the shores of this nation, they do well.
I struggled to make a decent grade here in Nigeria but when I went to states for a training which they considered tough, I came out the best overall. I have friends and some other people who have same experience.
The govt needs to be serious and invest heavily in our universities. Schools should be equipped. Our teachers/lecturers need to be trained and retrained. We should have functional research institutes.
We cant keep wasting brains.. Now a lot of our youths have found solace in fraudulent activities... Most are yahoo boys now.
I really do fear for this country..
CrimeRe: SARS Operative Shoots Young Man In The Leg in Delta State (Graphic Photos/Video) by xdos(m): 10:49am On May 28, 2017
From the recorded video, if the guy shot on the leg was same guy rushing the armed officer, then he is the one at fault. Why would he attack the SARS guy? Even in developed country, you attack a force man this way, you would be shot.
The SARS guy was professional enough to only aim at the leg. For me, he shot in self defense.
PoliticsRe: Privatized Power Companies In Nigeria And Their Owners by xdos(m):
Good info.
The guys who acquired the DISCOs have no plan in place to improve power distribution. They only acquired it cos' they saw it as massive money making venture. The govt needs to seat on these guys and ensure they meter their customers 100%.
PoliticsRe: Consumers Now Free To Buy Electricity Directly From Gencos – Fashola by xdos(m): 6:56am On May 20, 2017
Oh 10MW.. I'll confirm that. The funny thing is our transmission system is not strong enough to evacuate all energy generated by the GENCOs. For instance, take a trip to the power plant at Odukpani in Calabar. There are 5 gas turbines there each with a baseload capacity of 115MW but you'll only find 2 Gas turbines running at max 3.
There is this power purchase agreement being practised in the states. The govt has an agreed amount bin paid to the power plants for a sizeable MW generated but anytime the power plant fails to generate that MW, they pay back to the govt. So this keeps the MW on their toes.
I hope they implement same here.

Our states should be allowed to generate their own power too. I think this would go a long way too.
PapaBrowne:
That policy ehn is just terrible. I think it's 10 mw not 1 mw.

A very clear policy that would discourage any investment in the sector. I mean if not this insane policy, micro generation would have become popular in Nigeria where investors would build plants for affluent districts like say Lekki, Ikoyi, VI and take them off the national grid, allowing more power to be available to other less affluent districts
PoliticsRe: Consumers Now Free To Buy Electricity Directly From Gencos – Fashola by xdos(m): 10:07pm On May 19, 2017
You think another successive govt would come in and reverse that policy? I dont think so.
I do also think that the govt would be working towards abolishing this 'higher than 1MW to National grid' policy.
ydass:
Any investment to GENCO would be a 50 50 chance because of the unstable government policies. Good. Idea though
