My opinion is dat churches should not build schools, hospitals or any other humanities organisation unless it's going to be relatively very cheap for the common man to afford... they can invest in businesses and when they are strong enough set up trust funds and then build these facilities... otherwise just continue preaching and leave it at that... well God has the final say on this matter... |

Christianity Etc › Re: Why I'm Convinced That No One Will Make Heaven, Be You A Christian Or A Pagan by xerxes456(m): 9:58pm On Dec 04, 2016 |
NinjaX: One of the greatest mystery of the century that man has yet to unravel is the big question of what happens after death.
This question is so mind-boggling that over the years it has been accorded different answers by people from various walks of life.
So far so good, none of the speculations has been confirmed as true. And since no-one has journeyed to the land of the spirits and successfully came back on evidence, I believe I can safely assert from a resolute postion that none hold claims to possession of such knowledge in this regard.
However, for the purpose of the thread, using the Christian religion as a yardstick, let's assume heaven does exist, likewise hell.
Therefore, if heaven really exist, the question follows that what then is the ticket a person must possess in order to become an eligible candidate?
Allow me to quote from the bible at this point.
Matthew 5:20 (King James Version)
For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Summarily explaining the above verse, you must be RIGHTEOUS according to God's standard of righteousness.
According to the bible, righteousness is when one is absolutely devoid of sin. And sin can take any form - your physical actions, words and thought.
In conclusion, therefore, you must guard these 3 parts of you from sin so you can be sure of making heaven when the last trumpet sounds.
Now, here's why I believe it's more easier for me to jump into the air, visit the comfort station, have a short picnic and pen a short story while still in mid-air before landing, than for you to eschew sin completely.
I'll shift focus to the mind which is where thoughts are formed, because it is the most difficult of the three things I mentioned to put in check. My keen observation and findings have revealed that the mind, at no given point in time, can ever maintain a pure state in totality. You see a well-endowed damsel while plodding the streets, already you are having ideas. You see someone whom nature cheated facially, you say in your mind without speaking out, "damn! That guy is really ugly."
And. . . . . . . Even if you confess your sins away at church, new ones will take position almost immediately. Even before you breath your last on your death bed, you'd conceive wrong thoughts just in time before you die without wanting to. It's like a reflex action. You cannot hold it to a leash. It just happens. Unless of course you are an inanimate object, but then again, objects have no feelings at all. It's like someone telling you to keep your eyes open yet instructs that you not look at anything. And then asks you, what do you see? How does that sound? "Kukuma" kill me already biko.
And this is close to what God requires from us. The sheer complication and complexity of it all. Trying to think this through can just drive a person insane.
ALSO, the biblical God exhibits a system of rule I'd like to term "arbitrary", where he solely determines the do's and don'ts.
Come to think of it, even emperors, kings, queens, rulers, in a fair system, are subject to the laws they use to govern their subordinates. If and when they (these rulers), fall short, they are confronted with those set laws.
But amazingly, It's forbiddingly not so in God's case. He's all supreme. You cannot challenge nor question his decisions. What he says is final. Yet God prides himself fairer than all.
Okay, imagaine if our dear president, Muhammadu Buhari is the God we are talking about, just try to picture what would happen. . .
Here's what I surmised:
- Fulani Herdsmen would kill thousands with boundless impunity.
- Favouritism will be the norm.
- He could send lightening to strike you for criticising him on social media even.
I hope now, after some sober reflection, the implications have dawned on you? Are you kidding me? We would be done for in that event.
Lastly, even though you somehow manage to scale through the hurdle of sin, which I think is a dead impossible feat to achieve, there's still the inescapable problem of the big bad guy having to conclude your final fate.
My dear ladies and gentlemen, the above reasons are why I strongly suggest that we do away with the thought that heaven is "makeable".
It's either this Christian God never wanted us to share his paradise with him in the first place, or he's plain confused, or we are his little experiment to fight boredom, [b]or it's high time we started acknowledging that everything about the Christian religion is indeed what it rightly is - nothing more than a fictitious sensational tale intended to thrill but was rather badly written. short sightedness... the things of the spirit is so big for the normal human mind to understand, God is spirit and they that serve him must do so in truth and in spirit, not in human mind and logical thinking... So guy you can never understand until you're ready to understand in submission to God's spirit, if you like read Bible like novel from front to back, until you submit to the Spirit of God, nothing for you... |

omoodeogere: THE REAL NIGERIA I just realized that the hardship faced by many Nigerians is simply as a result of the fact that almost everyone of us benefited from the cycle of corruption. The bricklayer, plumber, labourers, tiler are all complaining because building construction has slowed down massively cause the thieves no longer have money to spend on real estate. The car dealers are grumbling because their cars are begging for buyers. Thieves can no longer spend wastefully. The private school owners are shouting because parents can no longer pay outrageous sums and are withdrawing their wards. I was shocked when I learnt that in a popular private University in Abuja, parents are writing undertaking at the account section for their children to be allowed to write exams... and it goes on and on. The fact is, a lot of people are returning to what someone referred to as ''default mode''. We mostly have been living above our REAL MEANS. We have been staying in houses that ordinarily our incomes can't afford. Our children going to schools we can't afford. Driving cars we ordinarily can't maintain. We have been living a FAKE LIFE all along. Now the reality is before us and we don't want to accept it. This shows how morally bankrupt we are. You can't eat your Cake and have it. TAKE NOTE......... You got billions from bank without collateral using your political influence. You put half into your business and spent the other half on exotic cars, jewelries' etc. Your business employs 100 people normally. You get illegal waivers and concessions to import raw materials at rock bottom prices, you get over inflated contract to supply government some goods your company produce.... in short your company is kept afloat by corruption. You have been paying Tithes, Sowing Seeds that includes money from corruption and inflated contracts. Now, the new Sherriff in town say NO more ridiculous waiver, NO more inflated contracts, NO more bank loans without collateral, in fact its time you or your company pay off the billions of debt owed..... AMCON takes over your company, staff are laid off...... And you go on air and say the new sheriff is killing business and causing unemployment.. The truth is....you and your company were never in business, you were only feeding off the corrupt system. Too many companies and banks are funded by corruption. Remove corruption from the system and they collapse.......and we end up blaming the person that remove corruption for the collapse of the corrupt company. Its like our system and corruption are so interwoven and un-separatable twins, that, removing one will kill the other. Maybe we should tolerate and learn to live with corruption so that Nigeria can survive? But count me out of the BRING BACK OUR CORRUPTION campaign. Blessed are the few incorruptible and hardworking Nigerians, for they shall be rewarded by the new emerging Nigeria. HIT... |

nwanna89: Number 3 is the foundation of all our problems now. If a president makes unguarded statements about the state of the country's economy, it puts current and potential investors in fear and uncertainty. This single act led to so many issues, primarily the hoarding of dollars and ultimately the huge devaluation of the naira.
Buhari and his cabinet thought they were smearing GEJs name by making those statements, but were actually screwing up the economy in the process. No president comes out to say his country is broke and citizens should brace up for hard times. Yes, the economy was not perfect under GEJ, but they knew to be careful about their utterances in order to give confidence to investors and citizens about the state of things.
Now investors are refusing to come to nigeria due the uncertainty. Curremt investors are packing out. Those in possession of dollars are refusing to sell it. I remember in the past, one could go to mallam to buy dollars. Now u cannot buy, because they too are hoarding.
Notice now, they have realized their mistake and stopped talking about how bad the economy is. They are now trying to paint a better picture of the economy to give some confidence and faith to investors. But it is too late!
FGs unguarded comments about the state of the economy is the only reason nigeria is in the shithole it is now the truth always hurts... the presidents comments was aimed at giving everyone including the investors a good picture of what to expect... those investors were more interested in opportunistic deals and easy profits (as usual) they never had Nigeria in mind... let them go... those with better business ideas and better development strategies are welcome... nation building is not and can never be an easy task... their aim was to make Nigeria bankrupt so we can be their slaves... let them Go |

[quote author=1Emmy post=47814282]This is supposed to be on the front page. Honestly Lagos state Govt is exploiting Lagosians in many ways. I remember January when we drove past a road in Alausa, all of a sudden we saw RRS police men with all kinds of vehicle and towing Van behind us. We got to traffic and stop and as we were waiting for the traffic to signal green, one of their vehicle came closer to us and asked us why we bypassed that traffic. As we were asking the man which traffic, they came down and invaded our vehicle and ordered us to drive straight to task force office in Alausa. When we got there they refused to talk to us, seized our vehicle (Toyota Venza) and detained our driver. He was later release at very late hour but the vehicle was still seized. We were asked to come the next day for the vehicle. When the drive went to get the vehicle, he later called me that he has been charged to court. I thought it was a joke. I rushed to the task force when I got there, he was already bundle into black Maria and headed to court. Hmm.. I was like. What kind of problem is this. When I got to court, I saw people with different cases.. Some Street hawkers, some Dando drivers, some Street boys. But i discovered that non has a serious case, it was all about "generating revenue". To cut the story short, our lawyer advised the driver to plead guilty even when we knew he was not guilty. He was fine 30k or serve 3months jail term. We went back to the task force paid the fee before we could finish it was 4pm and that day was on Friday. The young man was remanded in in prison till the next Monday. He was release when we presented the papers showing the payment and all that. The vehicle was equally realeased but all our phone and most valuable items stolen. |

lekside071: I understand your pain my brother. But I having a little understanding of what may have transpired having worked with an insurance company before. Firstly the agent that sold the insurance policy did not tell you the truth from inception and tricked you into a long term policy because this would increase his/her commission. From the name of the policy it has a saving and protection or a life insurance embedded in it. Now if you have contributed 140k, part of it will go on an investment account while the premium of the protection part ( Life insurance) will be deducted annual. Dont assume the whole 140k is an investment because there is a fee you have to pay for your life insurance.God forbid if anything had happened to you an amount would have been paid as benefit. Note that premium paid on life insurance is non refundable because its a service. So what may have happened was that the premium to cover your life was deducted constantly for 6 yrs out of your 140k and if not for the investment that may have accrued your contribution, you will be getting a less or nothing. I am no longer in the insurance industry but I just tried to put the bits together to analyse what MAY HAVE TRANSPIRED.... so are you saying for those month he was not paying they were still covering him... so God forbid something happens they will still pay his life cover as agreed?
