LiteratureRe: Who Is Your Best Novelist? by Xfactor2(f): 2:59pm On May 11, 2011
Oh definately Neil Gaiman for me, I've written about him more than once on my blog. I have a very unhealthy relationship with his books, particularly American Gods.

I think the poster here said if you like romance novels than sign up. All the haters have somehow detracted from that. What is it do people not know how to read or do they lack comprehension. She did not ask what do you think and its not anyone's place to tell people to grow up or what will teach you lessons. I haven't read the type of romance novels spoken of here in 15 years at least but I think its a shame that there are people just out to jeopardize other people's efforts. This would have been a good forum for romance genre lovers and i would have loved to read their reviews of what they've read. Instead of all this mindless dribble.

RomanceRe: She Is Always Scratching Her Body by Xfactor2(f): 10:00am On May 11, 2011
It could be that she suffers from allergies, at least that's what it sounds like. Something like atopic dermititus. I kow my 4 year old gets it triggered by cloting that's synthetic, e'g jersey material, synthetics and so on don't let the skin breath. So her clothes and even her underwear would have to be cotton. And she can't use any type moisturiser on her body or normal soaps. They are normally too harsh for them. Doc or pharmacist can recommend replacemets. I don't know what products you have to help it in Nigeria. She also has to take vitamins to build up her immune system because allergies are a sign that your body is being attached and can't fight for itself because its too weak. Something like getting the flue only with her its her skin. Some people are born with it and it diminishes or goes dormant as they get older but if they don't know and use the irritants as i mentioned above it flares up again.
I know I sound like a know it all but this sounds like this is what it is without suspecting the poor girl of all sorts of things, I have three kids two of whom have had allergies of a similar nature and I have done the whole dr's and specialists thing and overcome it. They are more or less fine now.

^^ kpele don't mind them.
They just need to step out of naija from time to time is all.

But seriously, shouldn't you have sued those police? Your's seems to be even more serious than I ever knew.
You should always have a recordable phone with you, the type that as you record it already throws it on YouTube. that way you have more evidence of these things cuz I'm sure, wherever you are, those people acting like that towards you are in violation of law.

People can only really get away with that jazz if they were living in North Korea.
2buff we tried. I was so traumatised I couldn't let it settle. But at the end the lawyer told us we'd only be eligible for R10 000 which is about $1400 todays rates. It really wasn't worth it, and especially because from the Director at the police station they were doing everything to not cooperate. The detective came to our house to "interview" and I think he thought he 'd find people doing shady stuff instead it wasn't the case. After his visit we actually moved house so they wouldn't find us, it was clear from the interview he was trying to cover up for them. What we later came to realise was that it was their modus operandi in that area and they were doing it expecting us to pay them. They deal drugs and extort money from foreigners because being illegal they can't report, it was a real terrible time. To cut it short, we followed up until we had to give up, we could get no one to respond and you know how man don't talk but I could see it was affecting by husband bad so I dropped it.

LOL! You think every one in Nigeria is a desperate rat like the manchild you call a husband? The wimp who prolly lied on his mother's head to get SA visa? I just hope he did not marry you for residency papers.

Pls spare me your BS. I know your country and people too well. Your heads are still too messed up from apartheid. You just can't bring yourself to acknowledge reality.

Look at the way your people treat the Mozambicans and Zimbabweans who suffered so much for your freedom. Their countries were destroyed in order for your people to enjoy your freedom today. Yet, your leaders are forever busy thanking the Scandinavians and Australians but never bother to even acknowledge the Zimbabwe and Mozambique that gave them shelter and succour during apartheid.

You black SA people are all just a bunch of ingrates, including your god Mandela.

The worst thing about South Africa for me is that the best experiences I have ever had while visiting South Africa or interacting with South Africans abroad in other parts of Africa or in Europe and North America is when I am with white South Africans. Its a shame to say but almost all of my negative experiences were with black South Africans. The most silly comments about Africa I have ever heard from South Africans is from black South Africans. Even with white former members of the SADF and NP, I still have positive engagements but the blacks? They actually think South Africa is an island off the coast of Europe!!!smiley Its utterly unbelievable amazing!!!
Any yet somehow you missed to see everything you just said in my first post when I spoke about Xenophobia - yes stupid is as stupid does. You probably one of those lil ppl who love the sounds of their voices too much. An you doing the derogatory thing on me and my husband only serves only to confirm that you so small and insecure you need to insult someone else to feel better about you and justify your state of failure as a man if that's what you are. Have a good life.

If you ashamed to identify with your husband's nationality that you even hide it, I strongly advise and encourage you to divorce your husband and marry your fellow SA man so you will not have to hide your shame any more.

As for your wimp of a husband that denies his fatherland just so that he can eat for today, tell him to stay back in SA. We don't need his type back in Nigeria.

Nonsense and ingredient!
Your levels of stupidity are stupefying.
I'd rather be having my Nigerian husband, living in my beautiful home, driving my luxury cars, having my children in good schools thank you very much.
So perhaps you can keep your ignorance of the world to yourself Sir. Even when we have to do funding requests/proposals with government departments here I represent his interests and if not that we would not even have what we invest in Nigeria so why don't you shut up and keep eating ghari and water while we enjoy life my ignorant friend.

RomanceRe: You Lied To Your Interest About Being African/nigerian? by Xfactor2(f): 8:23pm On Apr 03, 2011
I worked for an insurance company managing training and on about to be promoted I lost my job because I'm married to a Nigerian. They made our lives miserable, listening to calls, checking work credit cards and asking who went when when, petrol cards the same, mind you I was using these things in exactly the same way for 5 years prior to them finding out that Ewurum is actually Nigerian. What really got me off was when they wanted me t pay back all company car use and petrol during the last trimester of my pregnancy (2006) and it was my husband driving me to work as they could see on the cameras. So I suppose we should have been using our private car for work activities which they gave me a company car for.

At about that time 2008 - there was the Xenophobia thing. I was beaten by two police because of being married to him and I was pregnant with our second child. they told me to go back with the dog wherever he comes from - they had a gun to his head daring him to move while they beat me, the sad thing is and he was accompanying me to a business meeting coz I said I didn't feel safe going alone, little did I know. To this day I'm convinced those cops were high on something. I've almost been highjacked twice and I was never even near as scared as I was when I saw the hatred in those cops eyes. They case fell through the cracks as expected.

Three days ago I went to home affairs to organise my two year old's passport and I ask the guy how long it takes to get an emergency one: the white guy tells me same day and then asks out of interest where am I going? I tell him west africa and he says where exacly, I tell him Nigeria, his exact words: "why do decent people like you throw yourselves away to such rubish. all these people should be shipped back to where they come from they are like cockroaches infesting everywhere."

I have never cussed at anyone so much in my life. I was so angry, he had to remove himself.
So no, Nigerians do not have a good reputation. I was listening to a Black American artist being interviewed here a coupla days ago and they asked him why black americans are so arrogant. he said because decent ppl don't travel out of SA and these Nigerians don't represent Africa over there (all you see is Nigerian chicks in flea markets).

People it is a problem. In by business I don't mention to my clients that I'm married to a Nigerian any more otherwise you don't get business with corporate, when there are dinners and galas, mostly I go alone or with a friend. Thank God my hubby understands that money comes first so we good like that. Pride is not gonna give us the life we live but something does need to be done.
LiteratureRe: What Is The Difference Between Learnt And Learned? by Xfactor2(f): 7:53pm On Apr 03, 2011
I came across this explanation which I though might interest you:

The *prescriptive* answer is:
"learned" should used in phrases such as "a learned professor", in which case it is pronounced with two syllables.
"learnt" should be used in phrases like "I learnt a valuable lesson today".

The *descriptive* answer in British English is:
"learned" is used in phrases such as "a learned professor", in which case it is pronounced with two syllables.
Either "learnt" or "learned" are used interchangably in phrases like "I learnt a valuable lesson today".

The *descriptive* answer in American English is:
There is no such word as "learnt". Use "learned" always.

We're supposed to be going up West in a couple of weeks and I'm terrified to be honest. I worry about Malaria most of all and I can't stand even the South African heat. My favourite season is every season except summer.
I've cancelled tickets twice but this time I've promised we're coming. Especially because hubby's been home for two weeks now and he is under pressure to bring kids, I don't know if they ask about wife but my sister and brother in law are forever calling and sending me things so it could be that they'd like to meet me too. undecided undecided undecided
I actually can't wait to blog about that trip now that I've said this. smiley smiley

@ Vocalist: two days ago I posted a similar sentiment and I agree with you. The sooner we learn to love unconditionally, the sooner we'll flourish in our individual capacity. Its actually the most selfish act that bring the most pleasure to all.

Shaida, if the problem is the most common one with them here which is: He is married back home. Cut your losses girl. This is advise which will save you from a whole lotta pain. I have some friends who are in such situations and have to be happy that when he goes home he's with his wife and it's the same up there for the wife. I think it is selfish and thoughtless. There are a lot of hot Igbo men who don't have the complications. Love is a decision, decide not to love him, do the cry thing for a week or two and move along.

Anthony Hamilton is the man, a shame people dont appreciate his kind of music well enough.
I know, he is one of my favourites. Did you see the free dl, it's listed as hubba X3 in green under the pic. If you need more let me know. I can probably get all his albums but I don't necessarily want to just put all free out of respect for his work.
