Also, for all the cry about reducing commission which you people think is the golden ticket to your riches. It is not. This is what I have saved by paying 5% since Tuesday. 10k+
Yeah it's extra money, but in the grand scheme of things it's nothing.

Unless my own app is different or I'm enjoying some preferential treatment, uber reduced commission to 20% for over a year now but you guys still bandy 25%. Also for nearly 2 years now Uber rolled out a promo, do15 trips and every trip thereafter is 5% or 30 trips for 2% commission. There's also other bonuses without bolts type of conditions.

There is one vital information I'm passing to everyone through this message, please whatever the increasement bolt and Uber will be updating their apps with, please if they refuse to recognise this Union before bringing any such increasement let not accept it all

They are not ready to accept and recognise the union because they want to continue to be enslaving the drivers under their platform,so therefore let us force them to accept and recognise the union in order for the union to be carry along with whatever the decision that will be taking in the industry.

Please let encourage everyone that are around our areas or environment to join this strike so that we all can succeed together with this particular strike.

It's a matter of perspective, principles and choice. I reserve the right to entertain independent thought and action. I don't agree with what they are doing so I don't partake. I also will not hinder them from doing it, it's their choice. So they shouldn't impede mine.

This is my perception of time Viz distance.
Lekki to airport, free road, 45 mins to 1hr for 8 to 10k is a good deal. Long distance, short time, free road. Your car should do that trip at optimum efficiency, about 4 litres.
Short time trips usually translate to free roads. If I see a 5km trip for 20 minutes I'll reject it because that's not efficient use of that time.
In the mornings I can blow empty from VI to chisco or Osapa to get a trip back to vi, it usually takes about 10 minutes but the distance is about 9km.
On Sundays you will see long 6km pickup but time is 5 minutes. E get why.
Since Sunday i haven't bought topped up with more than 20k on any day. It's not as far fetched as people make it seem.
If you sincerely want to optimize, keep an open mind and a positive mindset. It works wonders.

I didn't know of the strike yesterday, until one of the association members ordered a ride. We met and he cancelled it before starting the ride. His aim was to order as many rides on bolt that day( I was 25th) and later cancel and reprove or educate drivers on the importance of total compliance. we later discussed on how this strike should be followed through to the end. He added me to their group. I felt it's better to just call it a day and join the strike action.(done 2 trips before)


In this Lagos, there should be more than 10k drivers....The association claims to have 3k members in their database. What's the way forward. A more practicable way.

Any form of unionism is voluntary. When people are being compelled to participate then you're no different from the dictator you're fighting.

After reading the back and forth of this thread, I decided to test the waters too. Bought fuel 20k (27k might fill up because I had some fuel). I started 7am and ended 7pm but drove empty from island to mainland because I was tired (I didn't eat anything all through) and didn't feel like having company

Gross;
Indrive.....4500. (net 4050)
Uber......5800. (Net 4600)
Bolt.....43400 (net 33066)

Total net is 41650. Fuel guage was between ¾ and half. I have top up again with 16k bring net to 25600.

The fuel issue is draining but e no bad like how we dey see am...the economy touch everybody no mean say we go wait for tinubu to come feed us. Who no go no go know.

Uber X is regular Uber rides. Priority means the rider is add that additional 5h to the fair for Uber/The driver to accept his request. It's just a little extra. So for trips that many drivers might reject, maybe it's a short trip or the pickup distance is far, there's a little compensation for you.

Muscle is a heavy car. So asides the engine capacity of your car, even if it's same with Muscle, Muscle will consume more fuel. It's like driving with 4 people and driving with just 2 people around town. More load means more power needed, more power equals more fuel.

Look at the specs for both cars. Yeah, Camry weighs more, but look at the expected mpg from the manufacturer. Also mine cranks out more power and torque. I also changed my tires to slightly bigger 205/60/16 to raise the car higher and I noticed a decrease in my mpg immediately.
Bottom line is, they both can't be far apart and that's what it actually is.

Talking about load, yesterday I carried this guy from Meadow Hall to Demurin Ketu. He one huge pumping machine, omo, free road till we got to Ketu but fuel consumption no improve. The weight cancelled out the free highway driving.

NB I just saw where you posted driving Volvo but what is it with the time of driving, is that part of Uber bonus condition?

You're limited to 12 hours driving daily, after that the uber app logs you out. I always have to reserve time for a trip home. Also, I have minimum earnings targets daily so I have to be efficient with the 12 hours i have.
As per cancellations, I can't say with certainty but I suspect Uber has some form of rankings at their end and they may give drivers some incentives.

I feel for our Bosses driving Muscle and other big engine cars though. Today I met a guy who drives a Highlander on rentals and delivers 45k weekly. I shouted, "how will u meet up in this new fuel price?" and he said, he will work his way around it. That's the power of a positive mindset.
You guys can save ur fuel on going soft on ur pedals and avoid bad roads and areas with corner corner road because U will require to accelerate frequently.

Also, While I feel for drivers in Caly, IB, Owerri, Ilorin etc. Drivers in Abuja have no reason to complain; u have landmass, and u have demand. I think your greatest undoing is overspeeding, and dead driving. Cut down on these and u will see profit after u deduct fuel money.

I don't entirely agree, my car is a 5 cylinder 2.4l engine, most Camrys on duty are 4 cylinders. When riders ask me about fuel efficiency using a Volvo for the job, I point at the Camry.
I'm working on driving more efficiently, trying out things. Between Sunday and Yesterday my average per 100km has dropped from 14.8 on Sunday to 13.6 on Monday and 13.2 yesterday.
I noticed that idling while waiting for a rider to come out also hits those figures, that has to reduce, going forward.

Like your view and to achieve that on Uber, I think you have to gross at least 40k daily. Now here is the problem, because it is not that easy every other day. Before, once I do 18k before 4pm. I'll just be on the island with free mind waiting for Sade them to close. Pick 3500/4000 to yaba and probably 5k to Berger. That's roughly 26k. 4k for fuel, 2600 for commission. I am fine for the day. Now, one can use 15k to get 35k. If it takes 2pm to get 15k, Lord help man, commission and profit is still at threat.


On the flip side, we keep focus on fuel only and not other things that my go up due to this fuel hike. Instance, if we buy tyre for 7k and it shoot to 10k, oil price, foodstuffs. My point is with time, what is obtainable will that 20k won't be the same again. One will hold 5k and can't even account for the smallest gap it fill. The best thing that can happen right now is increase minimum wage and transportation price as well. At the end subsidy was removed so few people won't be feeding fat at the expense of the masses. It should be more like redistribution of wealth.

I like to start early, 5.30 I'm out heading to agungi trip or no trip. This allows me beat Jakande traffic. Work begins like 6, I prioritize turnover so I don't leave the island, back and forth. So on an ok day 10k by 10am, 15k by 12, 20k by 2. This was pre bulaba. As of today I was on 25k by 12. 30 by 2 then there was a lull, between 2 and 4, I ate had a power nap while waiting for a trip back to the island. Also, I was mindful not to make the mistake i made yesterday by doing an unnecessarily long trip so I don't run out of driving time when I really need it during evening rush. Now it's how to get home with 25 minutes driving time I have left. I can close late cos madam is not home, when she comes back na 6pm be my closing time, unless maybe she consider say na new regime we don de.

I've said it countless times here, I'll still say it now, Do what works for you. Our realities, orientations and aspirations/expectations are different. So what I may abide someone else may forbid. Also because we have different realities truth becomes relative to perspective.

Nobody can say he's not spending more to buy fuel but even though it's still early days, I can also state that one is fairly guaranteed to make more than before.
Bottom line for me is that whatever happens,
My aspiration is to take home double what I spent on fuel or worst case scenario take home 20k after deducting fuel money. That's 20k nobody is dashing me. What that means is, if I can maintain that pace, I'll be earning give or take 500k a month. Not bad.

January last year, my bolt inspection expired, I no send. I used Uber exclusively till December. Pearl on the other hand can die on that bolt Hill. December last year, I say make I enter that period with backup in case of incasity, I got bolt back, I hardly used it, now I don't even have the app on my phone.
Cheerful told me about Rida and InDrive, I registered Rida no InDrive but that's his beautiful bride and it's working for him.
I think uber is great, pearl thinks his own, cheerful too but I won't knock any of them because my reality with those apps are different.

There's one key part everyone seems to be missing. How he drives the car is extremely important.

I'm able to go as high as 22mpg(9km/l) within the city on a V6 engine and 13mpg (5km/l) on the same vehicle depending on my mood and how I drive.

If Omoapena has a heavy foot, his gas mileage will suffer irrespective of the fact that he drives a Corolla. I'll advice him to avoid abrupt acceleration or braking and to keep his RPM below 2500. If he's still getting the same 1litre per 6km then something is wrong with the car.
