Beaf:
I believe it is most important that Jonathan removes Gen Maina, the GOC in Jos. Or at least ensure that he is as ineffective as a wad of toilet roll.
This is the time to reposition the army, strip any suspect brigades off weapons and 100% arm up loyal troops, MEND, MASSOB, OPC and any youthful Middle Belter/Southerner that can weild a cutlass.

No state of emergency should be declared, either in states or nationally (even if Heaven falls), because thats what the criminals want.
Did you remember than argument we had after he sacked the Service chiefs that i said he can only sack the COAS and not even a sarge and you begged to differ?

Now again, he CAN'T Sack Maina grin grin

Your "Knowall" is not applicable here

And for your information GEJ replaced the service chiefs and he wouldnt put a coup plotter there and Igbo man from the South is the COAS ,
ANd you are the bastard not anybody from the north as there isnt any coup plotter
See during Yaraduas absence or on the day of his death Danbazzau would have done a coup or rather kill jonathan if you are saying the truth i wouldnt bother really as you are not.

Okay i wrote NECO too
I would not check cause i get i didnt perform well
It doesnt matter to me as i wrote and passed WAEC in Flying Colors
I knew already i would passed WAEC so i didnt even read for NECO
I Didnt wanted to Write NECO but my parents wouldnt agree i had to write anyway
And with my WAEC combined with my JAMB combined with my SAT i had admissions in Nigeria and in Turkey

So Zap NECO it is Useless
There are so many of people like me in my school who had admissions in US but their parents forced to write NECO they didnt read just wrote rubbish like me did -that accounts for the failure though i can guess i got 5 credits cause am giood at school  wink while some of my mates didnt write but they registeres

#janus/cap28/xterra2 are also proving to be set to show ''them no go gree'' for G.I.Joe.
they are very much unlike the BigB1 and co that are so shallow in their job of supporting the IBB.even though they claim not to support him.
As for me, I would vote for Jonny for some reasons most prominent of which is, amongst ALL the pack in PDP, he is the LEAST unpallatable.
You might say ''Ribadu nko'' but right now he is yet to declare which platform he wants to use, unlike even Otunba Dele Momodu of the Labour Party
and to me since he is still the most ''saintly'' I would readily vote for him, rather than see a IBB as Nigerias president.
And he may(hopefully)perform well beyond expectations.
When Tinubu ''selected'' Fashola many political analyst shouted evil in the making, but today nearly all Lagosians would readily vote for BRF come 2011.Meaning ''Inu ikoko dudu ni eko funfun ti ma njade''(it is out of the black pot the white pap comes forthwith).
Also, no matter how little, Power supply in my area has improved.
Also, some filling station here now advertise indeed 64.50 naira for fuel.
Also, he put someone with public credibility as INEC's chairman(which is a plus on electoral process all things being equal)
Also, he at least listens to public and international comments about his governance.
Also, he so far has been able to handle the Niger Delta Militants to a large extent(even though Yar'adua started the process but he sustained it)
Also, he has been able to show some continuity in policies of the yar'adua administration.

Ok i'm back, just finish reading the crap some people post here, to all those who who bash Jonathan i just feel like asking these questions
1. Name your canditates ?
2. Have any of you voted before, if you have who did you vote for ? that's especially to JANUS

Jonathan was governor of bayelsa for less than a year, He went about completing projects that were embarked by the administration of ALAMS, He made it clear that he was not gonna embark on any new project because the time frame was short, the bayelsa housing project at the express road now sanni abacha express road was finished, the bayelsa 5 star hotel was also embarked by him and some of the roads started by Alamiesigha too was completed by him, remember the time frame was too short for him so embarking on new projects was not a novel idea but completion of existing projects was his priority, for those bashing him with the corruption toga, i guess most of you read it in the papers, and we all believe the EFCC headed by Ribadu was the one that released this story, so it means if any one has the authority to talk about this issue its the EFCC headed by Ribadu not even Farida, now we have a situation where Ribadu himself has come to disclaim this story not only that terming it as all falsehood so why are people still talking about Jonathan being corrupt when Ribadu himself has come to refute this claim do we know better than Ribadu, the posters making such claims now, where they part of the investigative team ?, c'mon i understand "Its one hundred times easier to criticize than to create" so i can forgive you for your criticism but it should be based on fairness and good judgement, It's not yet uhuru with Jonathan there but his candidacy is far better than anything the North has placed on the table so far and would serve the needs of the common man than any of the aspirants out there now, you know why because Nigerians have seen this old recycled idiots before, of all the lot Jonathan appeals more to the common man and his desire for a better Nigeria far outweighs that of any of the aspirants right now, We all have our views and our preferences but before you go bashing him, PLEASE name your preferred choice lets also know, "AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE WE WOULD VOTE FOR JONATHAN" case closed
Ok who is your second candidate?
Your house would not be voting for jonathan as he is not winning the primaries!

PoliticsInec Asks For More Time For 2011 Election by xterra2(op): 12:54am On Sep 20, 2010
LAGOS, Nigeria – Nigeria's electoral commission asked Sunday to delay the upcoming presidential election in Africa's most populous nation by several months, warning that the January poll date wouldn't give workers enough time to conduct a new voter registration drive.

The request comes as President Goodluck Jonathan faces a growing political challenge from within Nigeria's ruling party, one that highlights the religious divisions in the oil-rich nation.

The Independent National Electoral Commission's request came the day after Jonathan formally launched his presidential bid. Less than two weeks ago, the commission announced a Jan. 22 presidential contest, scheduled between a Jan. 15 election for the National Assembly and a Jan. 29 election for state offices.

Commission spokesman Kayode Idowu said Sunday that the delay was needed so that workers would have enough time to register an estimated 70 million eligible voters in Nigeria. As of now, the commission has yet to even hire the 50,000 workers needed to man polling sites on election day, nor has it ordered the computer equipment it needs to register voters.

"We will be engaging the stakeholders to see if there's a possibility of more time," Idowu told The Associated Press.

The commission had planned to hold a two-week registration drive beginning Nov. 1, giving it little time to prepare.

A statement issued by the commission said it would hold "sacrosanct" a planned May 29 inauguration date for winners. That means an election could be held in April and still meet the requirements of a newly passed election law, said Innocent Chukwuma, a Nigerian poll monitor now teaching at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.

The commission likely would need the blessing of lawmakers to change the dates, though it wasn't immediately clear what was needed to change the election timetable.

While allowing more time for election workers to perhaps hold a credible election in a country plagued by corrupt ballot-box behavior, Chukwuma said it may create doubts in the public's mind about the commission's planning.

"People's minds will start getting fixed to that date and they will start judging (the commission) on whether they are keeping to their words or not," the professor said. "I thought this was something they should have addressed from inception when the popular opinion was the January date was too soon."

Nigeria, one of the largest crude oil suppliers to the U.S., became a democracy through a presidential election in 1999, but its polls remained mired in vote-rigging, violence and political thuggery. International observers called the 2007 election of President Umaru Yar'Adua rigged, even though it represented the first civilian-to-civilian transfer of power in the nation's history.

The country's 2011 election continues to draw more challengers for Jonathan in the ruling People's Democratic Party primaries. Former National Security Adviser Aliyu Gusau resigned his position on Friday and planned to pick up a nomination form for the party, spokesman Adekunle Adebisi said Sunday. Gusau, a retired Army general, is a powerful, behind-the-scenes player in Nigeria's military and security agencies.

The entry of Gusau into the presidential primary adds another challenge for Jonathan. An unwritten power-sharing agreement within the ruling party calls for the presidency to alternate between candidates from Nigeria's mainly Christian south and Muslim north.

Jonathan, a Christian from the country's south, became president after the May 5 death of Yar'Adua, a Muslim from the north. Since Yar'Adua died while still in his first term, some leaders in the north believe their region has another term due to them.

Gusau, former military dictator Ibrahim Babangida and former vice president Atiku Abubakar — all Muslims from the north — say they'll seek the ruling party's nomination. That sets up what could be a fierce fight through the party's primaries.

Jonathan may be feeling some of that pressure already. On Sunday, he abruptly canceled a trip to New York, even though he was scheduled to attend the United Nations General Assembly and speak at Columbia University. Jonathan's office gave no explanation for canceling the trip.

I do not vote during elections. But this time I will come out and vote for Goodluck. He has showed Nigerians that things can still get better inspite of the current deplorable situation of the country. If I see Obasanjo, I will give him a warm hand shake for making the present political arrangement a reality.  Goodluck is the only Nigerian presidential aspirant that has something good in mind for the country. Others have come to play tricks. Goodluck should do anything possible to remain in that Aso rock till the next 8 years. He should rig the election if needed. Yes, he should rig it. It is time for good people to maneuver the affairs of the country for the sake of the common good.
He hasnt showed us things are getting better if you must know
And Goodluck is not the only Candidate that has something good in mind actually he dont anything good in mind
See after how many months he did not unveil his  roadmap yaradua did 7 point agenda (at least he did )goodluck didnt tell us and in declaration he still didnt Atiku in his declaration told us and Ibb he did but goodluck?
And he should rig the election if needed? You are mad
We should have free and fair elections (jonathan have to rig it cus he is not winning you may be right)
We shouldnt rig the elections for anybody we should insist on free and fair

for those asking what GEJ has achieved, pls pardon my naivety. but I still wonder how come filling stations don't have queues any more. I mean some are even advertising N64/litre just to make sales. can you believe that? the funny thing is no noise from this guy. just like that fuel just full everywhere.
You see because of there is nothing really that GEJ has done you his supporters bring the lamest argument here :
1.) No more Fuel queues
2.)The money i used to buy diesel reduced

Well, get some points here or dont say any of these
So can you PLEASE show me or quote a national daily where jonathan specifically took any action to stop the said queues ,
Fuel Queues started appearing in yaraduas tenure during jan-feb 2009 and that was almost 2 years into his tenure  GEJ didnt spend even a year so wait and see
Ha do you even know that those fuel maeketers/importers/IPMAN can go on strike anytime soon why? NNPC is still owing them (+ FG) when babalola said NNPC is insolvent what happened?where is he?
And please show me where you see a filling station advertising N64 , pictures dont lie, lets see them

If the Niger state gov is not present or has chosen to back Jonathan then the light at the end of the Nigerian tunnel is actually in sight.

It implies that d presidential contest would be a national contest and not ethnic or regional, supports should not be justbecause someone is of your tribe, religion or zone.

I look forward to a day an Ibo man will contest and win the governorship seat of a state like Lagos or Kano and when an Edo man can contest in Ogun State and when you dont have to be an indigene to be made a commisioner of a state.

I still believe in Nigeria, If after 25yrs of continuos despoilation of the land we still are here at the threshold of a new dawn, I believe that in another 25 yrs we wld be greater than we can imagine, that the generation coming behind us will have kind words for us, this is my dream

Well i dont think so

At present, the United States enjoys significant support among Nigerians, even though it lacks the capacity to have much impact on the 2011 elections. It cannot reform the electoral commission, nor can it change Nigeria’s corrupt political economy
But it could do something about the politicans i see they have formed their own economy "nigerias corrupt politicians economy" NCPE grin grin grin they can bail out african countries in need and they can cpugh up money for supplemetary budget

ducci:
Lets clear the air, the President cannot just decide to sack a military officer even for the fact that the officers rank is called a " presidential commission" and the president is the C-IN-C of the Armed Forces. The officer has to commit an offence whereby he will have to face a General Court Martial (GCM) and found guilty, which will also be subject to confirmation by the Army Council comprising of the MOD, SGF,COAS etc, they sit once in a year. Its not realy an easy process to retire or dismiss an officer, one of the reasons is that the amount used to training an officer from cadetship is too much to imagine. Only thing is that their is a clause in the military TACOS (Terms and Conditions of Service) which permits that an officer can be retired on the basis of "service no longer required",even at that, an offence against the Army Act must be established. All officers append their signatures to it b4 being commissioned and recieving their official parchment signed personaly by the president. The thing no be army plc o,na armed forces.
Thank you very much .
the military is not like any government MDAs that the president may sack any person though he is the C in C Beaf understand that please
