I know you dont  understand so much, but you know that the brazilian army and Nigerian army were at par in 80,s.But do you know the brazilan army produce fighter jets and other military hardware. This is 2010,the Nigerian army produces only furniture and imports all miltary hardware.

Do you know the militar contributes to technology and advancement of countries,Do you know they do road construction.Do you know they were the people that assisted in the internet we use today.I hope you can learn from india.General powell joined the army when IBB was a small boy,but he went to gulf war.He retired as a general,iBB became a general when when powell was also a general.which kind of army is that.
Not to join the argument but they build UAV ummaned aerial vehicles better called drones ,guns, ammunition, and ships + ferries not to talk of plans to establish 300-400 military industires in a military industry complex

Quote from: xterra2 on July 13, 2010, 02:20 PM
I dont why People are criticising this as to it is too small
Firstly the former minimum wage is N5,500 and for it to be N17,000 is good news
now people get this it is minimum wage not your monthly wage
And though currently it is not enough it would go a long way to some people
and no countries minimum wage is ever enough
Take this for example in US you have five kids and your minimum wage is $400 and after four years you get 3 children again which means more food, school fees,a bigger house, more clothes, and a new car mini bus like toyota sienna,to accomodate the children while a person on the same minimum wage of $400 with one or no children would be better off , so really size matters , what am saying is that to SOME people it would be okay for them and SOME would still be inadequate but would help in a way,
And the N52,000 minimum wage they demanded is unrealistic as we have millions of workers and multiply it with N52,000 and see ,
Now if they government does what is right by building trains and better transport also by building good and cheap affordable schools and helping farmers which would in turn make food prices cheap * and also transport when government builds rail all over instead of spending about N100 or N200 normally you would spend just N20 and like i said help farmers food would be cheaper and also bring back industrIES Plural some would come and bring competition which would bring down the price of just about anything from cloth, furniture, school books and so on,
that N17,000 would be enough for MANY people IF NOT all

But this N17,000 is enough for SOME people and people it is not more N17,000 it would be N18,000 when Justice Belgore Alfa recommendation is accepted and Legislated

What if it's a school excursion they are embarking on ?? (Albeit in their own native way)  Undecided

The picture tells a lot of stories. It depends on what glasses you have on  Cool

Even if they are going to school nko?? Doesn't that indicate a fighting spirit?? Fighting against all odds to get an education!!

And the annoying part is how some Nigerians revel in things that paint us black. Enough with all the negativity jor!!
Good point here! This BBC idiot should leave us alone abeg! Yes people are poor in all parts of the world and this show our hard working attitude right from a child struggling to go to school and those poor people perform better than rich kids at schools as they have no blackberries and ipods nor xbox or Hp envy 14 and read day and night in hope to pass and 'make it' one day ,

I saw this too i Was VERY Happy at this post whih confirms my theory of "no matter what Nigeria is destined for greatness" you may say the path is a bit rough at this time But our Economy is flying
What made me so happy even more is that her on NL when people CLEARLY see good news they would start criticizing it and when they see bad news they would start criticizing it also and rain all insults they know even when i posted a good news related to our economy i was insulted, people here need to get a brain!
And to people who think South Africa to Nigeria is like brazil to Sudan with so much gap can keep quiet a little bit as a south african said he feels safer in Lagos,
Yes we are the Brazil of the world but this right here made my day “I get people asking, ‘Who’s the next Brazil?’ ” said Adam J. Kutas, manager of the Fidelity Emerging Europe, Middle East and Africa fund. “I answer without hesitation that it’s Nigeria,” and this also
many investors will look back and say why the hell didn't I invest in Nigeria,
am telling you this would be the words of major people and firms in the next 5-6 years!!!

@XTERRA2

U sound like an ethnic Jingoist. . we are talking real reforms here, and u are telling me about some silly River Niger dredging that doesnt do anything but waste money

The problem with u Nigerians is u always want GOVT to do things for u. .
when everyone knows that same GOVT is mostly incompetent

The RIVER Niger Dredging by Yaradua was just a job for the boys
a lot of the companys awarded the contract to were not even competent

After the dredging is done what happens next yr?

or dont u know dredging is a yearly/continuos event?
If there is no private sector need for dredging that river, then am afraid its all a white elephant project
Ships will berth at Lagos, lekki ports, onne,PH,Warri or calabar ports

why would they travel another 2000km inland?  Huh
Tell your Northern Governors to stop stealing the money given to them

They should encourage their citizens to go to school, give the kids free lunch
discourage riots so that industries can come set up up North
and the economy up their will boom

Not some silly dredging that is laughable. .
PS Jonathan did not cancel the said dredging but nothing like facts to get in the way of your misplaced rants
See am not an ethic Jingoist but a useless government and bad president Jingoist
The problem with u Nigerians is u always want GOVT to do things for u. .
when everyone knows that same GOVT is mostly incompetent

So do u expect Power and road and equipments at hospitals to be done by paddlo or by xterra? No to be done by government but if they dont as the case now they should give it out now apart from private sector taking control of electricity by june 2011 (when jonathan will be back in bayelsa as a former presido) he should allow state governments to do theirs as now they MUST supply to national grid and also give out more IPPs and PUNISH those who given didnt perfor like his assiatnt on power prof NNaji who has an IPP lincence for years and didnt do anytn and given adviser which obviously would put his business interest above me and you
When Eveyone knows the GOVT is incompetent isnt that what am saying? and we dont need an incompetent presido by 2011 lets leave 50 yrs to waste(not completely) and not having a corrupt 1st lady
And to the dredging why do government for decades been tinkin bout it? cus its important and wait till miracle happens and it is completed to see the unreserved benefit and on the day od the start of the dredging BBC gave a report and praised yaradua and saying that is is a useful project to embark upon
and jonathan took part of the money to shoreline protection in the ND to show that he is a South president not North and South  just after been the acting presido just after and now there is division between north and south all thmx to zoning he jonathan creates confusion btween north and south idio.t
If he wants 2011 he has time WORK for Nigeria and Nigerians and opt for independent candidacy and put the north in shame,

The RIVER Niger Dredging by Yaradua was just a job for the boys
a lot of the companys awarded the contract to were not even competent

After the dredging is done what happens next yr?

Not a job for boys dats a lie and the companies were competent and what happens next year? The States 8 would benefit and it would help the economy of those states

There is corruption in every country of the world. .
Have u actually looked at the so-called opposition politicians and states they run and how much worse they are compared to PDP?

The way to change Nigeria is to remove such corrupt things as power,NNPC and so on from GOVT control

Have u bothered to ask yourself why this has not been done for 50yrs?

Its because those ministries are so-called powerful ministries. . what does that actually mean?
It means every yr billions of Naira are budgeted in those ministries
but they can dissappear, because there is no incentive to make power plants or refineries work. . .

When last did u see any huge amount of money allocated to ministry of information and communication?
well that is because the private telecomms companies have made it redundant to do so. . .

Have u forgotten MKO and the military in ITT(International thief thief)
well thank God those things are past us now. . .

That is why anyone that willingly gives up such patronage is to be commended
It reduces corruption and inefficiency and basically lifts another critical sector of the Nigerian economy from underneath the Suffocating weight of GOVT

PS u should want Goodluck Jonathan to win the election next yr. . because there is nothing worse for a developing/emerging economy
than a stop-start application of critical reforms
New GOVTS take time to settle down. . .thats why even in countries like brazil,Japan,Russia,Indonesia.India and so on there is always angst during elections
and markets normally rally if the incumbent reformer is re-elected[/b]
[/quote]Ps i should want jonathan to win next year?god forbid not even in my grave, notin worse for an emerging economy than a start.stop critical reform ??Well bout that Jonathan doesnt have any guide to critical reforms even yaradua had 7 point agenda this jonathan has nothing we just wait for media outlets to tell us this and that and infact he stopped the so called reforms first by stopping river niger dredging which was planned for over 40 years yaradua had the courage to do it only for this idi.ot called jonathan to stop it which would help the states that the dredging passes through REMARKABLY, and am not sure jonathan is supporting PIB and deregulation which if he wanted critical reform he would do so ,
Now yes opposition parties are bad but to remove control from government = privatisation= higher costs you dont have to be an economist to know that private people do business cus of profit and when we are poor na wahala woo,
And to all countries are corrupt?New Zealand, vatican are ?i doubt that instead start cleansing our people from corruption starting with the patience beside you and if billions infact trillions no zillions are allocted to NNPC,power if they wont use it to help us then they would leave the money untouched as done like in 2007 and 2008 where unspent money would be return to the federations account and another government after jonathan sensible one i mean woul use the money judiously,
Jonathan must go bak to bayelsa come may 29 2011 as former president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria whether he,me,beaf, you likes it or not
