Gbawe is here again!! Why are you always painting your wishes as realities?? Wake up already! Jonathan will be President from 2011 to 2015 and probably beyond! That will happen not only because Jonathan is quite popular in the country, but mainly because the opposition led by the AC cannot find it in itself to look beyond regional and personalized politics. AC continues to paint itself as a Yoruba party under the grips of King Tinubu.

Its amazing that for the almost six months that the PDP has argued on zoning, AC wasn't able to ally with other politicians from other zones.

Even Fashola knows that the AC presidential ambition is a mirage, hence his refusal to stand as Vice Presidential aspirant under Ribadu. I like Fashola, I like Ribadu but Tinubu is just too much of an ambitions fellow.

^^^You MAY be right funding an election he wont win as we saw how biliions we budgeted for carpet

Quote from beaf
Some Nigerians are never appreciative of anything and most are crowd followers who will say anything to "seem" cool.

Are you not witnessing the sincere efforts to introduce credible elections? and jonathan started it after he rubbished the election in 2007 (i forgot) plus yaradua said iwu conducted two good elections   -------------oh and jonathan lied to the nation that he sent an "unedited" uwais report which he announced through yayale when the SNG protested
Have you not witnessed the ground swelling restructuring of the oil sector? Jonathan started it clap for him

Have you not witnessed a clear difference in governing style? I will give an example; a man wilfully blocked Jonathans motorcade in Abuja. Today, that man is alive, without a scratch from the episode. He was taken to court. . . But then, some Nigerians love to be beaten up and spat on, so they might not appreciate such changes.
Well jonathan introduced the rule of law,and let me tell you this in the national mosque my camera fell,on the way yaraduas motorcade passed and i went there to pick it up which the driverS slowed down and allowed me to pick it up right in front of soldiers, police, frsc, civi defence, police with dogs + horses
If this is irrelevant do you think stoping a presidential convoy is a crime that you would be charged to court call layers and ask them

I could go on and on about the deep and positive changes Jonathan has brought about in 3 short months, one short post is hardly enough. Why do you stop NL own Ima Niboro, please go on or you cant accept the fact that Jonathan is a bad president who would be in yenegoa on may 29 2011 after the inaguration of a NEW president (i hope good one),same yenegoa in bayelsa who joanthan was governor didnt do anything going to his state and enjoying the peace brought there by yaradua who you claim didnt do anything .

PoliticsAbu Professor Nabbed With ‘explosives’ On London Plane by xterra2(op): 2:53pm On Aug 08, 2010
A Professor of Chemistry in the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Professor Joseph Lori, is right now in prison custody in the United Kingdom after he was apprehended at the Manchester Airport with some chemicals which were later confirmed to be dangerous.

According to The Sun Newspaper of London, in its August 2, 2010 edition, the Chemistry Professor sneaked the flammable liquids in his baggage, without declaring it to check-in staff, on board a KLM plane before being apprehended at the Manchester Airport.

A potential disaster was said to have been averted when handlers of luggage noticed a strange smell coming from Professor Lori’s suitcase and the handlers alerted their bosses. After the report of the airport’s luggage-handlers, security staff at the airport immediately launched a major chemical alert.

Because of the danger which the chemical posed, baggage handlers who came into contact with the substance were rushed to hospital in contamination suits.

The Sun reported that when Professor Lori was identified as the owner of the bag, he was dragged off the KLM flight by policemen, as 150 passengers looked on.

Firemen wearing special protective suits were called in to search his luggage and discovered three bottles containing chemicals phosphorus oxychloride, ethylamine and ethyl acetoacetate with t-shirts around them.

It was learnt that Professor Lori was exposed because the seal around the bottle containing one of the chemicals, ethylamine, had broken in his bag and was giving off a red fluid, a puff of smoke and harmful vapours.

When quizzed by cops at Manchester Airport, the 49-year-old professor said: “I’m a chemist. I have chemicals, they are not dangerous.”

The father-of-three said he had bought the chemicals legally in the UK and was taking them back to his native Nigeria to give to his students.

When paraded at the Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester for trial, the prosecuting police officer, Ms Wendy Logan, told the court that the chemicals would have posed “a significant risk of ignition” on the flight.

According to chemical experts and aviation regulations, ethylamine, one of the chemicals found in Professor Lori’s bag, is forbidden on aircraft as it is extremely flammable with the same qualities as petrol, while phosphorous oxychloride is both toxic and an irritant.

Professor Lori who resides in Cheetham Hill, Manchester, pleaded guilty to one count charge of recklessly endangering an aircraft. The Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester under Judge Angela Nield handed the Professor a suspended six-month jail term.

While delivering the court verdict, Judge Nield said; “You are a professor of chemistry and clearly a man who is extremely knowledgeable in his own field.

“The potential consequences of your actions could have been catastrophic and you should have known that.”

A check by our correspondent at the ABU indicates that Professor Joseph Lori had sought and obtained approval for a two-year secondment-leave at Rivers State.

Impeccable sources contacted by Sunday Trust at the university expressed shock and surprise about the involvement of Professor Lori in such a scandal as records at the University show that the Professor is serving a two-year secondment-leave in Rivers State.

Some colleagues of the Professor who spoke to Sunday Trust yesterday confirmed that the Professor had left for a two-year secondment leave.

“We learnt that authorities of the United Kingdom have written the university trying to confirm the position of the Professor at the university. The university has replied, confirming that he is their Professor but has left for secondment-leave in Rivers State, therefore the university is not aware about his residing in the United Kingdom,” one of Professor Lori’s colleagues, who didn’t want to be named because he was not authorised to talk to journalists, told Sunday Trust at the university’s old Pharmaceutical Sciences block.

When contacted, the Protocol and Information Officer of the University, Mr Bitrus Galmaka, said his office was not intimated about the incident, saying that it was the Security Unit that should have such information.

However, all efforts to get the University’s Chief Security Officer at his office and on phone proved abortive as of time going to press

PoliticsRe: Obasanjo’s Govt Promoted Corruption — Reps ! by xterra2(m): 2:07pm On Aug 08, 2010
truly:
my DISDAIN for Obj grows in leaps and bounds daily. Whatever the expectations of people, he only speaks partial truth.
I cannot imagine the likes of IBB, Atiku or Tinubu being as hypocritical as an Obj railing against corruption whilst being enmeshed in it

You will reacall that when Obj was carrying on about corruption and disqualifying every body in 2007, IBB just pointed out cooly
that Obj's administration was not not saintly
Of course, Obj kept quiet

And don't forget his fray with Orji Kalu
Orji Kalu said that Obj could not accuse of stealing that he had mkney before coming into government
and that he donated N100m to Obj's campaign
Obj said that Kalu donated the money to PDP
Kalue countered that the cheque was cleared through Obj' account
Obj kept quiet

The Federal government had enough evidence to nail Makanjuola - Obj's cousin - for corruption
Suddenly Obj' Justice Minister - Kanu Agabi - withdrew the case from court via a nolle prosequi

He harrases legislators for being corrupt, but his daughter is one of them.
When his daughter was being sought by EFCC for the Health Ministry scam, did he speak the truth by asking Iyabo to show up? No he did not

He always accused Atiku of corruption, but when the chips were down
we saw a cheques on PTDF account in favour of ladies, and companies related to Obj
Obj gave the contract for incorporation of  Galaxy backbone to his friend and lawyer, Afe Babalola. That job cost all of us N250m - for just 1 company

Obj without due process and budgetary approval mobilised contractors to start work on Abuja stadium
How much did the project cost us
Obj said Atiku got a friend to front for him to buy AP; Atiku denied it, Obj continued to insist
Meanwhile, Obj was buying shares in Transcorp

Obj hated corruption so much that he started bribing legislators to amend the constitution to allow a 3rd term
He knew Yaradua was sick, but continued to say that electing him (Yaradua) was a do-or-die affair. Why?
Without legislative approval, he signed away Bakassi

Obj vetoed the Freedom of Information Bill after the legislature has approved it
Obj asked the legislators for N1b to hold a national conference
The NASS said no, insisting that the presidency had enough money to organise the event

Suddenly this money materialised from the presidency and Obj organised the event without additional budgetary approval
So what would have happended to that money without the conference being held?

When Bola Ige died, Obj pretended to be sad
But subsequent events revealed that he is a cheap liar
The judge resigned because he was being pressured from unexpected quarters
Obj said he said that he had been trying to see Debo Akande - the prosecutor
Debo Akande simply pointed out that there is no Nigerian who has not gone into hiding
that the president would like to see and would be able to avoid the president for even 1 week

Obasanjo in the twilight of his administration suddenly announced that the police - under that despicable Ehindero - had made a breakthrough
in the Bola Ige's case

So who is the culprit - one drug baron, masked speaking to journalist behind a screen to whom questions could not be put
And has the man be prosecuted? May be tommorrow

In 2007, nobody was allowed to contest freely against Obj's candidates
People were just being indicted and disqualified
At first, Tejuoso who was to stand against Obj's daughter was indicted and disqualified
When people pointed out that Tejuoso had never being in government and wondered why  he was being indicted
they hurriedly reversed the indictment

We can fill 5 pages here with FACTUAL account of Obj's misdemeanors
True
This man has no shame

Point of correction here -you direct it to the Senate and house of reps not state government

PapaBrowne:
Perfect analogy!!

@huxley
Gross Misinterpretation of intellectualism!! Sometimes, in a quest to appear intelligent, some folks end up as slaves to a system designed by others who, just like themselves are mere human. Your talk is jargon!  Whoever cares about Plebiscite and historical records? ?

The analogy given above by Ikengawo should give you a rethink.
Doesn't matter what historical records state; There is a reason countries have Armies, spend heavily on military arsenal and prepare for war. This is one of such reasons. If the Camerounioans should make the simplest mistake of putting an official claim to Obudu, then for all I care, our tanks should roll into Yaounde immediately. Or better still, we should put our kidnappers to good use and unleash them on that Paul Biya guy!
Historical date ni, plebiscite ko?

PoliticsRe: Salary Of Police Service Personnel (foreign) by xterra2(m): 12:47pm On Jul 31, 2010
We could do a "structural adjustment" to policemen without buying so many equipments that they dont have and our police would be better
Imagine how much they pay them when they have children, wife, brothers, sisters, father, mother, grand parents e.t.c to cater for thats why SOME of them steal/extort
They also risk their life in duty
Now,in Lagos have u seen the police barracks(when going to the airport) shit thats one hell of a place
Now,politicians who dont risk their life on duty they only risk their cloth on duty (as dino melaye and his co-horts) get paid N22 million quartely and they are demanding raising it to N42 million, they get all kind of allowances and live in mansions or 5-star hotel
Now if the N22 million was reduced to N2 million anad their salary + allowances was reduced and the reduced money goes to rehabilitate police barracks and increase their salary it would bring about "structural adjustment" if all the best police equipment was bought for them it would not make them better unless this "structural adjustment" is made

I'm sorry, but I just don't buy the arguments I have heard on this page. They are all rather weak.
The MIG-21 is DNA of the F-7, so as they say "garbage in, garbage out"; what we have is the "advanced version" of a bad plane.

If cost is our problem, why not go for mordern but very low cost planes like the HAL Tejas from India or JF-17 from Pakistan? shocked
The JF-17 is judged to be equivalent or even better than the F-16. Nigeria made enquiries about the JF-17, so why didn't we just go through with it and purchase some decent aircraft?
Yes,me myself i dont like them (F-7) i wish Su-30s were bought even though they are more expensive
And like i said it is an advanced verion of the advanced version of the MiG-21 fishbed (advanced version of the normal F-7)
Now to use your words "I'm sorry, but I just don't buy the arguments I have heard on this page. They are all rather weak.
The MIG-21 is DNA of the F-7, so as they say "garbage in, garbage out"; what we have is the "advanced version" of a bad plane."
Let me give you an example, the normal mercedes CLK was taken by AMG and customized by marely changing the engine, suspension and made LITTLE body adjustments, brakes e.t.c they bumped the horsepower by almost 120 they increased the performance and made the car better and jemery clarkson of BBC's top gear had this to say about the car "a monster" lets take a house as an example again get a house with a bad interior and give some plenty $$$$$$ to a world renowned team of architecture, designers e.t.c to refurbish the interior alone and when you come back you would swear you never set your eyes on the said house, now am saying this to illustrate that what you said (i quoted) is false and an outdated thing can be modified into a better one(not saying F-7 is modern)
I hope in the future this plane would be used as an interceptor or be placed in an aircraft carrier if we get one
