My friend has a 2006 Toyota Sequia Jeep. He bought it barely six months ago but is having problems with the car now. He is scared of employing road side mechanics to fix it. Does anyone know a very standard garage that he can take the car, preferably a garage that used computer scanners. Please call me on 08098750509 or drop the garage's number here for me.

Thanks so much for your wonderful assistance to Nigerians. Now I need your advice. I am 49 and hold a 2nd Class Upper Degree. (B.A HONS). I have been a teacher since I graduated in 1982 and now I head a school in Nigeria. I wish to formalize my teaching experience by obtaining a Masters in education degree. I prefer a foreign university because it will enhance my marketability after the one year programme as most private schools in Nigeria now require foreign trained Administrators. What are my chances of securing admission to EMU? I really don't know the basis for the age limit, but maybe EMU believes older men may not be able to cope with the rigours of academic studies or they may drop dead over there. But I am a young man at heart, with a high IQ. besides, I don't see myself dying so soon. Help me if you can. Thanx

Must we win all the time? That's why we bring DO or Die into everything we do. A coach must be sacked if he loses just one match even if he has won a hundred before the loss. I find it difficult to understand this kind of logic.

Fellow Nairalanders, I've just taken possession of my 4 sim phone and I must confess, it's truly amazing. Now, I have all I need in one phone. Aside from all my sims going into this single phone, I no longer have to burn fuel to watch TV as the TV function is so so super. I just finished watching the Deputy governorship Debate on Silver Bird without putting on my "I better pass my neighbour" Besides, it has a WIFI that enebales me to connect wirelessly to the internet in my office. And it has capacity for a 16GB memory. Wow!
Christianity EtcRe: Bible Study Materials by Xtfield(op): 10:37am On Mar 17, 2011
Thank you all for your lively discussions of this Bible study material. Unfortunately the whole thing has degenerated to an argument of I believe, I do not believe which is not what I intended when I opened this thread. My goal actually is to help those who believe the Bible to study it more. Now if there be any one who does not believe, he is free to hold on to his unbelief and if anyone believes, let him study the materials and strengthen his belief.

I believe the Bible is the word of God. I have experienced the transforming power of the Bible. I was once deep in adultery, drunkenness, stealing and such but when I came in contact with the message of salvation in the Bible, my life changed. And I have seen it replicated in many other lives ever since.

When I preach the God of the Bible to any man, as a free moral agent, he has power to accept or reject the message. I respect his or her right of choice. I am not his judge. My Bible teaches that every man shall stand for himself on the last day. My duty is finished once I make what I know to be true known. It is only the Holy Spirit that can convict a man of the truth of the gospel. When the Holy Spirit convicted me over twenty years ago, I forgot every human argument.

My friend thehomer, what do you believe? Share your belief with me on another thread. I tell you, if you start the thread and I read it and do not share your beliefs, I wont visit the thread again. But maybe you do not believe anything. That is also fine.
Christianity EtcRe: Bible Study Materials by Xtfield(op): 9:18am On Mar 16, 2011
Thanks once again for your questions.

The man who ends up in hell will do so because he has rejected the Bible and the way of salvation from hell contained in it. He is like a man presented with a navigator or map but who rather than mount it where he can see it and follow its direction, threw it away and then ends up lost in a wilderness or thick forest. Now in his lost state, he can only regret his folly at neglecting the navigator or map. You may say but he can go back for it. Yes, but how does he get out of the wilderness where he is lost.

Hell is worse than being lost in the wilderness of this world where one can be located by plane or a search party. hell is a one way traffic. There is no repentance there. Anyone who goes to hell will easily remember all the Bible verses pointing him to the other direction, he will equally remember all his foolish arguments against the Bible. He can only bite the finger of regret. None can save him. he has made a choice while on earth and after death, he cannot change it.

Let us study the Bible together. Below is the study for this week. Study and let me have your views or questions.

THE BIBLE:
BLESSED INFORMATION BRINGING LIFE ETERNAL
2 Timothy 3:16,17

This year marks the end of the 4th Century and the beginning of the 5th Century since the King James Bible was translated. We are rejoicing and we are celebrating 400 years of the King James Bible. It is right and proper to rejoice and celebrate but we go beyond celebration. Why the translation? It is to help the common man read, understand, believe, appropriate, discover God’s love and live in fellowship with Him here and hereafter.

The BIBLE is Blessed Information Bringing Life Eternal. This translation is given to us so each one can discover its blessedness and receive eternal life through Christ, the living Word. As we receive personal, spiritual, physical and eternal benefits, we must reveal the saving truth learnt to others around us. Unknown to our friends and neighbours, the BIBLE is Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth. To be ignorant of its content is to regret throughout eternity. The pain of ‘Had I known’ will torment the ignorant for years unending. The most profitable knowledge we can give ourselves and others is the knowledge revealed to us in the BIBLE.

1. THE BIBLE: THE INSPIRED WORD OF GOD
2 Timothy 3:16,17; 2 Peter 1:20.

This inspired Word of God is the only source of knowledge of the Almighty God to all mankind. It consists of 66 books: 39 of which are in the Old Testament, 27 in the New Testament. Note that the word “Old” has 3 letters and “Testament” 9 letters, and we have 39! “New” has 3 letters, “Testament” 9 letters, 3 X 9 = 27! The Old Testament was written in Hebrew and Aramaic, while the New Testament was in Greek language. These languages were spoken by less than 1% of the population of the world. No wonder we need a good translation to a language we can understand. Over 40 authors drawn from different generations spanning a period of over 1600 years were used of God to write the BIBLE. Though their occupation, education and social classes were divergent, there is wonderful unity that proves the Bible’s inspiration by the Holy Spirit. Its versatility is remarkable as it meets the needs of all people, irrespective of race, age, culture or peculiar characteristics. The BIBLE is indispensable for all men today. No man’s education is complete if he is ignorant of the revealed truth in the BIBLE. All the knowledge from all other books is only profitable till death; the knowledge received from the BIBLE is profitable in life, at death, after death, for all eternity.

2. THE BIBLE: THE INFALLIBLE WORD OF GOD
Psalm 119:160; John 17:17; Psalm 19:9,10.

All the products of the minds of men contain some errors which are discovered and corrected by others after them. Fallen man cannot produce infallible and perfect truth because he is imperfect. The truth revealed in the BIBLE has been given by God Himself; the writers were only His penmen, writing under the inspiration of His Spirit. Uninformed men, limited in knowledge, have tried to find errors in God’s Word but they have always been proved wrong by those who know more than they do. God’s revelation of man - man’s state and need, his nature and depravity, his life and destiny, his deeds and accountability - is reliable and infallible. The records of history and prophecy revealed in God’s Word are truthful and without error. Being infallible, the BIBLE is trustworthy. It is unfailing in its power and influence. It is light to our feet, food for the soul, medicine to our spirit and personality. It is given to us as a mirror, as a sword, as refining fire, as a hammer, as water to cleanse, as seed to sow and it is God’s power to re-create new life in us. It is God’s will and testament for all men in all ages, revealing God’s plan of salvation. This is God’s message of eternal salvation to all who believe in Christ and of eternal damnation to those who rebel against the revealed way of salvation.

3. THE BELIEVERS: INFLUENTIAL WITNESSES FOR GOD
Matthew 9:35-38; John 4:34-38; Jeremiah 5:24; 8:20-22.

God has given us His inspired, infallible Word. We are to read, receive and believe. The written Word reveals the living Word (John 1:1-5,11-17). His Name is Jesus, He is Saviour, Redeemer and Lord. He is the Ambassador of the Almighty; Burden-Bearer of the Believer; Centre of Civilization; Conqueror in the Christian; Door to Deliverance; Emmanuel from all Eternity; Foundation of our Faith; Gateway to Glory; Highway to Heaven; Image of the Invisible; Justifier of the Judged; Key into the Kingdom; Light of Life; Manifestation of Majesty; Need of the Nations; Overcomer for the Oppressed; Prince of Peace; Qualifier of the Unqualified; Road to Redemption; Saviour of the Sinner; Truth for all Times; Upholder of the Universe; Victor of the Vanquished; Wonder to the World; ‘Xpression’ of the Inexpressible; Yearning of our Years; Zest for our Zenith.

For salvation and life that is worth living, renewed life here and rewardable life hereafter, He is all you need. Turn away from sin and turn to the Saviour. Repent of your sins and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ who died for you and rose again. Saved, you become a new creation, a child of God, a shining light, influential salt, obedient son or daughter and a witness for God. You become part of the CHURCH, His Church. His CHURCH is the assembly of Converted Humans Unashamedly Reflecting Christ’s Holiness.

And the Lord has called us to actively exert a saving influence on people around us. The sight of the ignorant stirs compassion in us. Be a witness; let your light shine; let the world around you hear His voice. This is harvest time; join the reapers in the ripened harvest field. The CHURCH is Commissioned Harvesters Untiringly Reaching Community Households.

EducationRe: Why Do Pple Think That Studying Abroad Is Easier by Xtfield(m): 7:57pm On Mar 11, 2011
When someone goes to school, whether in Nigeria or abroad, the purpose is to study, to learn. Schooling is not to be judged by how easy it is to graduate but how much the system allows a student to learn and be able to cope with post school life issues. When you study abroad, you learn a lot, most times through self-study and a little help from your lecturers. This is because the materials or resources for self study are available and because your lecturers want you to be better than they are at solving problems.

In Nigeria however, the reverse is the case. The resources are not there, the lecturers are mostly egoistic and unfriendly and most of them do not want you to be better than they are. Nigerian lecturers want students to treat them as kings and anyone that dare try to show he knows better than they do will be lucky to graduate.

Besides, we need to consider the cost of education in Nigeria and abroad. Nigerian students do not want to pay anything. The resulkt is that they do not have any commitment. Most Nigerian students possess cell phones that are more expensive than their one year tuition fees. They expect government to provide everything free. They frustrate University administrators who wish to run standard universities with aluta.  The situation is different overseas. Undergraduates pay heavily to get educated. So the universities are well maintained and the students are serious minded.
The truth is, we cannot eat our cake and have it. For those lucky enough to be able to afford overseas study, I advise you endure the pain and stress for the reward awaits you when the battle is overr and you return to 9ja and for those studying in Nigeria, remember that you are not studying for government, but yourself. Set your priorities right so you can graduate a better person than when you went into the university.

I rest my case

PoliticsRe: Osun Students Jubilate As Aregbesola Slashes Fees by Xtfield(m): 11:07pm On Mar 08, 2011
@ Ziccoit,

Funny enough, I was not born with a wooden spoon not to talk of a silver spoon. I come from a humble and poor background. I never enjoyed Bursary or scholarship. My parents paid all my fees when I was at school. My point is this. Is University education compulsory? What is the use of a university education that turns out half-baked graduates. I laugh when people talk of unemployed graduates. Truth is many of these so called graduates are simply unemployable. I know this because I have been privileged to interview many job seekers. You need to be on one of such panels to know what I am talking about. Now, I do not blame the poor fellows. I ask myself what facilities did they have to study with while in school? Did they have standard modern laboratories?

Ask the University Administrators and they will tell you government does not give them enough funds. It is therefore unavoidable for the Universities to charge fees. While one would not support an arbitrary hike in fees, I am of the opinion that tuition at the University level should not be free. It should not be too low. This is one reason why most undergraduates are never serious. They have nothing to lose.

In the UK and USA, University education is not free. Government only has a loan system in place. There, you borrow and pay back (interest inclusive). It was tried in Nigeria, it failed because when people took those loans, they simply disappeared with them.

I have children and in spite of my meagre salary, I never waited for government to train them for me. I paid for their education from primary to University level. But I knew some of my friends who were busy building houses all over the place while I was doing that. Most Nigerians are quick to claim they are poor, but the truth is they fail to order their priorities. If a man is man enough to bring children into this world, he should know that he has a primary responsibility to provide for them. Leaving one's responsibility to Government or other people is an irresponsible act that should not be encouraged.

Today, Osun students can jubilate, but Aregbesola or ACN cannot employ all of them when they graduate with substandard knowledge. The banks, oil companies, telecommunication outfits, even private schools will be waiting for them with their extra-tough no-nonsense entry point exams.

One thing I know is when they fail those exams, they will turn to politics and continue the cycle of deception.

Good education can never be free or cheap. It costs a lot of money to build schools, employ teachers, equip the schools etc.

I rest my case
PoliticsRe: Osun Students Jubilate As Aregbesola Slashes Fees by Xtfield(m): 4:27pm On Mar 08, 2011
Aregbesola may not be contesting elections but his party wishes to have control of the Osun state house of Assembly! Besides, he will desire ACN wins all Federal Assembly elections in Osun state. These are enough political motivation for this kind of announcement.

As for me, I think Nigerian politicians understand the Nigerian people. They know we love awuf even if it will turn our stomachs later. Why would a parent not want to pay fees on the child at the tertiary level. University or Polytechnic is not a must. For primary school or secondary, yes. I understand but not for Polytechnics and Universities.

How will government ever fund these schools adequately? In what countries of the world is tertiary education free? Are we the richest nation on earth? Where is the wealth?

True, our leaders mismanage our resources, but they are only able to do this because they can always deceive us with fake free education or health services. These things are paid for in most nations of the world. And these are countries where heavy taxes are paid by all and sundry!

I believe, it is better to pay 42000 in a school with good facilities than pay next to nothing in a school that will not make me a good graduate. No wonder, their computer graduates can not operate computers not to talk of writing programs.
PoliticsRe: Osun Students Jubilate As Aregbesola Slashes Fees by Xtfield(m): 2:16pm On Mar 08, 2011
What were they jubilating about? Governor slashes fees and they are happy. what is the state of facilities in those schools? Should they not be more concerned about the facilities. Our students do not want to pay for education but they all have money to buy blackberry phones! I pity all of them. when they graduate, the labour market will slash them! A word is enough for the wise.
