I opened a Bank of America acct but not the one requiring minimum monthly deposit of $1,500. but for the previous poster, the ATM cannot be used in store. They have 3 types of account. If they explain well, u make your choice. It's tricky...ish.

It's a minimum balance of 1500 not a monthly deposit in case others get confused. What do you mean by the ATM can't be used in store? Was considering changing to this other account when I am done.

XX01, I was having crazy back aches and contractions though painless yesterday. What I did was to kneel under the shower with the spray hitting directly on the area and I felt better.

Dear friends, has anyone successfully opened an account? what bank? requirements and how please? I need to open one in the US

I opened with Bank of America. They asked me for my international passport. I used my Naija address and my host's address. The account needs a minimum of 1500 dollars every month or they will charge a fee of 12 dollars a month. It comes with a cheque book and debit card. It didn't take more than 15 minutes to open and get internet and mobile access. I deposited cheques and cash at an ATM.

I have arrived o but forgot my hand luggage at home and even the package I was rushing to collect. Forgot my phone, my underwear and so many other things. My husband said he probably will not bring them for me as he might not have space. :'

I am not ready yet. I still have one month to go abeg.

Part 2 of POE interview.

Me: Good day Sir.
CBP: why are you here?
Me: For vacation and to deliver my child.
CBP: Why US?
Me: better healthcare.
CBP: that's a stupid reason. have I been to US before and used their healthcare? How can I compare?
Me: (didn't answer)
CBP: (in a raised voice) answer all my questions.
Me: I haven't been to the US before and not used their healthcare before.
CBP: are you married?
Me: yes
CBP: what do you and your husband do in Nigeria?
Me: told him
CBP: do you have money to pay for your bills
Me: (repeated same as earlier)
CBP: hospital correspondence.?
Me: I gave him

Then he whispered to his colleague if it was okay and that one said that you don't have to deal with it, send her to secondary inspection and let them deal with it.

Nah so Part 3 start. The man asked me so many questions ranging from how my uncle became a citizen, to how many months I was and even asked for my hospital records. He asked questions about the cheque, even called the bank. Asked to see the money, asked for everything askable. I spent over 20 minutes there.

He then scanned my bags and asked how come the airline agreed to fly me so late in my pregnancy. Told him the airline policy. He said that I really had done my homework and I should have a good day.

I didn't know that Dallas was so bad. I felt like a criminal being interrogated to confess. I am in sha and I thank God for that.

I thank God that I am finally in Dallas. My POE interview was very long and intense so won't go into much details. So this is part 1.

I used the wheelchair and was pushed to the CBP. Had to go back to fill my form and when I returned, the wheelchair guy had gone. someone else offered to push me.

Me: Good day Sir.
CBP: I thought I just saw you standing, how come you are now sitting?
Me: I am pregnant and my waist is not cooperating with me. (Tries to get up but was waved back).
CBP: why are you here?
Me: vacation and to have my baby.
CBP: Give me your hospital correspondence and the bill. (gave him just the hospital correspondence and the breakdown).
CBP: Do you have money to pay?
Me: Yes, 5k in cash, 1k cheque, western union and my cards.
CBP: (looking at my passport and visa where I had short hair) do you have any other form of govt id?
Me: (gave him my driver's license)
CBP: when did you get the visa?
Me: early July.
CBP: Ok, enjoy your stay in Dallas and then stamped me in for 6 months.

I started jubilating didn't know that was the easy part. collected my luggage and went to the second customs checkpoint.

Wait o. Are we saying that pineapple and zobo can make labour come early?

Then it's only God that has been saving me because I take pineapples every 2 days and zobo every weekend since 2nd trimester.

Maybe why I have been having Braxton hicks for a while. Make baby wait first. Not ready at all.

Sabi mamas, please What Is the right dosage of folic acid to be taken daily because the one I bought contains 5mg of folic acid and 5mcg of vitamin B12.

From what i gather, you can't really overdose on folic acid. Folic acid is also not retianed in the body so you need it daily. One of those tablets is okay per day.

Travellex Lagos was a mad house when i went there. They had a list that was at 115 as at 11am on Monday. The were still on 25 that was when i knew that the music had changed. It was so chaotic. I made my enquiries and jejely left the place.

It was a plastic bottle and the guy was too ashamed to ask for help so he left it stuck for 4 days. By then, it had started to rot. So they had no choice but to cut it off.

Thanks guys. My hospital refused to issue me a fit to fly as they had a policy. I had to collect it 5 days early so that I would still be within limit. Hope it flies sha.

XX01, do not panic. It might be baby pressing on your haemorrhoids. It was the same for me the first time and now.

I still went to the hospital sha to confirm and they said exactly what you said. Didn't even know I had haemorrhoids. Was quite surprised. But the symptoms fit.
