Aside transport, just hold 10k, you'll be able to visit a lot of places and come back with change... More enjoyable if you go as a group

The tour for first storey building in Nigeria, visit to some slave families and their museum, then point of no return costs just 3k for the whole package (per person)... Except it has been upgraded, nothing special in whispering pines, just decaying structures... I'll rather advice you spend that money for whispering pines visiting those slave museums owned by several families... It's always fun with them and they may treat you to some local dishes... Although it's a dark past, they don't shy away from talking about their history

YES. I connect everything to a single decorder using a discq. Any installer can do it for you.

Do this connection and thank me later, buy a big dish(like dstv or any one that have same size with the blue dstv dish) then get a small dish with a strong decorder and you will watch everything you like for free. The setup cost me close to 30k that time but it is worth it

A DStv dish, a strong decoder, any name for the small fish or anyone goes?

That's all, the installer knows what he'll do, I don't need to give any special instructions or tell him I want it for FTA?

What's the cost range and where can one get those high-end decoder and big dish? Also, hope it's not those kind of dishes one has to build a special stand for them?

How does this work? You have three dishes, do you connect them all to one decoder or how exactly? I never even use two dishes at same time before

Politics / Re: Second Crude Supply To Arrive In Three Weeks — Dangote Refinery by Yampotatocarrot(m): 8:47pm On Dec 09, 2023
nairalanda1:

Government should simply deregulate the downstream and let Dangote sell at a profit so that he would have the money to keep the refineries running.

Yes, Nigerians will suffer and yes, I know I am a fool for advocating more burdens on Nigerians , but in the world we live in, people like being paid. For 50 years we have kept petrol cheap and we lost 4 refineries doing so.

Niger sells fuel at over 1000 naira and their refinery has worked well for over 11 years without subsidy. Why can't we do the same?
Anyway, na so e be.

Considering the current government hinged most of their promises on this refinery, the question becomes, is it that they were dull not to have known this reality or they intentionally deceived Nigerians?

(Side note: I just saw the thread where the NNPCL boss is reiterating your position... You sure say you no dey work for NNPCL? lol)
Politics / Re: Second Crude Supply To Arrive In Three Weeks — Dangote Refinery by Yampotatocarrot(m): 8:29pm On Dec 09, 2023

You see the problem?

As lay men, what do you think will be the way out, government increasing the pump price or him selling to other countries (which will negate all the government hypes on the refinery) or government paying the extra (which will take us back to the subsidy that was removed)?
Politics / Re: Second Crude Supply To Arrive In Three Weeks — Dangote Refinery by Yampotatocarrot(m): 7:23pm On Dec 09, 2023
nairalanda1:
Dangote is

1.Not going to save the economy.

We are not earning enough dollars in the first place. That is our problem.

2.Not going to crash oil prices.

Unless you want government to pay his costs and pay back his loans, fuel from that refinery is going to cost above N900.

If fuel from that refinery cost above #900, does that mean he won't sell in Nigeria, because we are buying at #600?
Technology Market / Re: Solar Power For An Average Middle Class Household by Yampotatocarrot(m): 4:59am On Dec 08, 2023
keeper303:

Let me explain the little I know to you. Experts will explain better. This is how the solar system works:-
1. Solar panels collects energy from the sun.
2. Charge Controller regulates the energy that goes into the battery. Note that you can use the Charge controller to power your appliance but when the sun goes down there will not be enough energy to power any appliance hence the need for battery.
3. The sun from the solar panels that goes through the Charge controller stores power into the battery and also charges the battery so that when the sun goes down, the energy already stored in the battery can be used to power your appliance.
4. Inverter acts as a converter that changes dc current to ac current ( like Nepa light) to power your appliance.
From the above explanation, you can see that only the Inverter that stands alone will not be able to power any appliance. However, there are some Inverters that stores power in them that can be used as stand alone.
Please note that i am not an expert on the solar field. I just gave you a layman's explanation. I hope Experts will give you detailed information.

Thanks for this explanation... I'll combine this knowledge with that I'll get from others... I appreciate

No worries you questions are permitted that's the only way we can keep pushing this thread.

To your question, yes you can have an inverter backup system without having a solar system (we basically refer to the solar panels as the solar system since it gives room to recharge the batteries without nepa or gen)

What the inverter does is convert the dc voltage from the battery to Ac voltage which appliances in the house uses.

You may need to provide the wattage of the appliances you want to run, it would aid the design of the system.

No there will be no need for an electrician.
The only time an electrician would be needed is for load separation and possibly point separation.

Okay, thanks

If one has an inverter as a standalone, how will it be charged, or is it like car battery?

How do I know the watts of the appliances, laptops, phones, fan and bulbs?

Obnoxious2001:

To power those load you mentioned I don't think so 700k can get u a good 12v backup system

Sorry my question might sound childish, but abeg I no know am

Is there a difference between using an inverter and the solar stuff, or do they come together?

Is it the inverter that determines how long the light lasts or the solar panels? Let's say one wants to use it in an office with just one ceiling fan and two sockets, for three laptops and, say 5 phones, how will one go about it?

Also, in an apartment with two sockets for one laptop and three phones at a time, how will it work?

In the apartment, will one need to get an electrician to rewire the house again, considering it's a rented apartment?

Thanks in advance to you and all that'll contribute

I agree that a woman can't bring the passion and intensity needed in football .... the testosterone is just not there!

On the other side... I don't believe women commentators will bring women to the sport. Women watching football mainly have little interest in the actual game or the outcome .... most are there to watch the men. Two football matches ... Italy vs Spain ..... 1000 meters away ... sexiest movie stars vs sexiest male models at twice the price .... which do you thing women will storm?

Lol, now this is funny ... I guess they'll go for the one with sexy players... Same reason they love watching wrestling

Taking aside misinterpretation and the mischief that could be derived from what Jaafar said, he was correct... But looking at both sides, one realises it wasn't actually an unusual thing

For me, I'll start with registration of those in my state, same thing Lagos is trying to do with LASSRA, where parents have to show their LASSRA certificate before their kids are admitted into state owned schools... I'll extend the same thing to state owned universities, all students there must be registered

Next will be automation of a lot of processes. There have been a lot of switch this year, in my place of work, from pen-paper to computer and it has been lovely, makes work easy... Everything now feels like cruise due to ease. So, I'll set up a standard ICT ministry with substations in all the local governments. A lot of processes that used to involve carrying papers up and down will become automated. This will reduce stress, increase productivity, not forgetting that it'll create enormous jobs for the 21st century tech-savvy youths in my state... From the state general hospital to local government offices, to state ministries, 80% of their activities will now be done online

Advantages to the above
- It's naturally boost internet connectivity in the state as internet providers will bid and outbid themselves to have a chunk of the money assigned for that purpose, so they'll be forced to give their best
- It'll force me as a government to work on increased electricity production, keying into the fact that the FG has now allowed electricity generation by states, it can even be a PPP project, as constant electricity is needed for such automation
- Although it'll lead to loss of jobs, but the saved money from salaries can be channeled into other areas, like road construction, e.t.c

Upgrading of ALL the state owned higher institutions, both in structure and standard. I'll personally coerce organisations in my state to take up building projects in the institutions, such buildings can be named after them after construction and furnishing, I don't care... Then, sack, yes, sack lecturers who are just matter, occupying space without any positive significant contribution...ancient of days... Looking at the dichotomy between polytechnics and universities and the seeming bias in the labour market, I'll work with NUC to convert the polytechnics to Universities of technology, colleges of education to universities of education, and shut down the irrelevant departments in them... Maybe move the department and students to the main universities while moving the technology/education departments to these specific ones

Let me conclude by saying I've never believed it's the place of government to create industries and manage businesses... I rather think government should create an enabling environment for private investors, while having oversight functions... Although in some cases like power generation, government can have a share in it, with a strong clause that hinders poor performance

You would know this if you have been watching "From The National Assembly" for more than 20 years (like I have).

Copies of bills and other such documents are printed by the National Assembly and circulated to members. Sometimes senators/members complain that they have not yet got copies of the bill that is being debated and the matter is stood down until everybody has a copy.

But that also means the first report was correct, that said he presented an empty box... I don't see the confusion at all, did he present an empty box, YES... Next is to just explain that the hardcopy is still being printed for distribution...

So the reports weren't fake

I had same issue... First token after upgrade worked perfectly, after that unit finished, tried loading it again and it wasn't going through... Was showing exactly the same thing OP posted.

Had to go to the office and get an official's contact... He sent me my Keychange codes and I had to press them

After pressing the first 20 digits, it showed ✓... Then, I proceeded to press the second 20 digits code and it showed done... At this point, I now imputed the new token that wasn't loading before and, boom, it worked

Note that I didn't press enter or any other button after pressing the keychange codes... On pressing the 20th digit, it automatically enters by itself and displays the results I posted up there
