A heavy clash occurred at the Chief Magistrate court, Mpape, Abuja earlier today between some lawyers and police officers over the detention of two lawyers and relatives of Senator Dino Melaye.
PoliticsNGR gathered that David Amaefula and Pius Udo-Inyang, who are of the law firm of Messrs Rickey Tarfa & Co. Abuja Office, were on Tuesday, April 24 and 25 arrested by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) office Guzape after they were dispatched to the Zankli Medical Centre, Mabushi, Abuja to secure justice for Senator Melaye, who was being admitted there.
Two other persons including a cousin to Melaye and his friend were also arrested during the raid. Magistrate Zubairu on Monday granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 and one surety each in like sum, adding that the sureties must be resident in the FCT.
All hell broke loose when over 50 armed policemen deployed in the court attempted to seize placards from protesting lawyers. The over 100 lawyers in the court premises resisted the move.
The police officers then encircled the lawyers and demanded that they leave the court premises. This attracted stiff opposition from the lawyers. Watch the footage below;

Though I married my husband but I never forgave him from my heart and it made me not to do anything in my husband’s name.
We currently have three kids together but all my properties are in the name of my children. I never used him as my next of kin either.
Just last month my company decided to transfer me to a branch in Texas and the company is willing to pay for my entire family to relocate with me. My husband’s business is not doing too well and he’s willing to relocate also but we have no legal certificate to show that we are married.
Now he wants us to go to the court to legalize our marriage and I have said “No” My dad has threatened to disown me if I ever go with him to court.
He’s been tagging me everywhere as a bad wife who is not loyal to her husband, spoiling my family also. His family members have been calling me trying to persuade me but I told them I’m old enough to make my decisions also and I have stood my ground just like he did to me nine years ago.”
Convince your dad to allow you do the needful. Do the court thing with him. His refusal in the first place is blessing in disguise. He has learnt his lessons, I suppose. If you refuse, consider the consequences of working abroad and your husband at home. It will put a heavy strain on the marriage. Unless you are contemplating divorce.

A top indigenous upstream oil and gas company invited candidates for a test (over 42,000 applied). One of the requirements stated in the invite is: “charms will not be allowed”. Which means candidates may have been caught wearing charms during previous recruitment. There is also a rumour about yet another firm that invited candidates for an interview, and some were caught with charms around their waist.

The sad part is that people see nothing wrong in all of these. They won't until we all look back and don't know where a problem came from.

opera1: The long drama over the attempt to recall the Senator representing Kogi West took a turn towards an end on Saturday with the verification exercise flopping. Results announced by INEC at the end of the exercise showed that only 18,742 signatories to the recall petition were verified out of the 189,870 signatories on the petition. The verified signatories fell well below the requirement of the law that 50 percent and one of the signatories must be verified before the recall process can continue. Consequently, the embattled Senator Melaye who was in the hospital owing to the drama that followed his arrest has survived the recall attempt. Here is how the verification exercise turned out in the seven local government areas in the senatorial district, which has 351,146 registered voters.

They created sympathy for Dino by hunting for him. There was a seeming desperation to get him and his brothers under lock and key before the verification exercise. This obviously backfired. The people began to see him as a symbol of martyrdom and state repression. They could now identify with him and see themselves in him. The exercise could have fared better were Dino not forcefully arrested.

Angelanest: A 36-year-old man who sexually abused a 2-year-old girl has been reportedly released after cutting grass in a police station. It was gathered that on 25th April, 2018, a mother rushed to Nigeria Police,C Division Asaba, Delta state seeking for the arrest of a man who sexually assaulted her baby.
According to Prince Gwamnishu Harrison, after the woman's statement was taken by the I.P.O, the suspect was arrested. The IPO demanded N50,000 from the woman for mobilization and to enable him prepare all documents to send the suspect to court.
"After arresting the Suspect, one of the Police officer (Two Star) told me to go and bring N50,000 for mobilization and to help fast track the case. I told him I don't have money and am no longer interested in the case. I was given a paper to write a withdrawal letter which the IPO helped me to write", said the woman.
Behind Bars Defenders' and 'My Body My Right Foundation heard the woman's predicament and contacted her and she said she's no longer interested and she has lost confidence in the Nigeria Police force.
When the woman was driven to the police station, the DCO denied the IPO requesting money for mobilization. That the woman told them she's no longer interested in the case. She had to write a withdrawal.
DCO Confirmed that the DPO ordered the suspect to cut grass and he was released. Suspect who was arrested for fingering and inserting his man-hood into the private part of a 2 year old was released after cutting grass, DPO's order.
