I don't think that's for sure, these guys are becoming more confusing. I received a CIC email message from LDNIMMIGRATION@international.gc.ca which is the London office, I was sure that my application is processed in London until I see that the email signature shows

Immigration Section – Section de l’immigration
4 Anifowoshe Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria
Lagos.immigration@international.gc.ca
www.nigeria.gc.ca

Anybody experienced this before?

Your post makes a lot of sense but let's not forget the fact that the UK and US grants student visa in a week or less.

I don't know much about UK and USA, but i think volume of applications is the main factor here. Remember that average processing time for Canada study permit from some countries is like a week or two.

Thanks for your advice.

As for my boss being a sponsor, any experience on this? Has any member here used it before? Still reading the threads from the beginning as advised here but yet to figure an answer to that yet.

I thing anyone can be your sponsor, you just need to convince a VO on the connection between you too, with affidavit, sponsor letter, copy of ID etc and if possible, the sponsor making some payment into your account to show commitment

not jst waiting 4 months, but waiting for that long and still get rejected. Someone here waited for 18 good weeks and still got rejected. Its really annoying to be candid...

Although am also very concerned about the long wait for this study visa thing, but I just wanted to say that, to be fair to these VOs, we must realise that a lot of background processes goes into processing and granting visas to foreign nationals. Especially for a country like Nigeria that the Western world always suspect anything we submit as forged or fraudulent.

No too visa applications are the same, so comparisons don't make sense. The background checks are out of the hands of the VOs as they are conducted by Security agencies. Sometimes, anything phony in a person's records could prolong the background checks. Also, sometimes they delay processing a visa just to make sure they get all information possible to be fair to the applicant, rather than refuse on the first sign of unfavourable information.

Lastly, because Canada and most countries now use the Global Management System, applications are not allocated to anyone specifically, VOs just pick the next available application from the pool once they are free, problem with this system is that if there's any issue with an application, it is returned to the pool and will remain dormant until another free VO picks it up...

Let's just try to stay positive, get on with our lives while we wait and remain prayerful..

It is well!

I think it is very unrealistic to expect anyone here to tell you what your chances of getting any visa are? Even a visa officer won't be able to answer that question until they have reviewed all your documents and seen reports of background checks...

Abeg, get all your documents together and submit your application, then join the nearest prayer group smiley. If you need help with any specific thing during the preparation/submission process, ask and people might be able to help.

My 2cents!
Peace!

i am sorry to be a bother, but i followed the link and its still a bit complicated for me... i don't know the visa office handling my application and i cant seem to see a space to add additional document... just a box where i can write... i wouldn't mind you taking m through the steps if that;s not going to be too much to ask... thank you so much...

Since you're applying from Nigeria, just choose the Lagos visa office as the office handling your application (they will add your document or pass it to the right office). Type your message in the box and submit, the next page will bring a link to upload your document(s). Easy smiley

Hello Great People

I need your help as regards studying in Canada

Kindly help with list of affordable universities in Canada(really affordable)

Also is it possible to do MBA as I graduated with 2-2 in Canada

I would appreciate your response

Regards.

It is easier to use Google search for questions like this. Anyways, here is a link to 20 low cost schools in Canada

https://uscollegeinternational.com/2018/02/04/cheap-universities-in-canada/

Admission requirements vary by school, so one can tell you if it's possible to get MBA admission or not, just check the requirements for your school of choice. And your grades in your last 2 semesters of study also determines if you qualify or not.

Question for doctoral students or other applicants:

Did you guys include a working bibliography in your Statement of Program/Purpose/Intent? Is it actually necessary to do such? I cant seem to find a definite answer to this question but I want to sample opinions so that I know what to do. By extension, I'll also ask if you did any in-text citation in your SOP.

I'll appreciate answers, please.

No, I don't think you need bibliography or in-text citation in research statement/intent except you're required to write a formal research proposal.

And no, not required in SOP as well, I think, as it's not an academic document.

Systems later came up around 10:30am so I was able to biometrics. But them vfs staff are so so rude. I mean they literally vent their frustrations on people. I expressed my displeasure at the short lady at pre submission desk cause I had to stay back in Lagos an extra day, the lady and her male colleague had the effrontery to attack me not to frustrate them on the job, I was just looking at them shocked. Another guy who was doing my biometrics told me he will send me out of the office as he has no time to waste cause my fingerprints weren't coming out clear. I kept trying to place them correctly, and he's like ' what are you doing, this is so simple? I'll walk you out.' I didn't know when I snapped and asked him not to talk down on me as I don't know him neither does he know me.
But the Koko be say those vfs guys need training in manners.

Finally I did biometrics sha... And have joined the wait at the train station. God's favor is sufficient.

Hmmm! Those vsf staff sha! I had similar experience, especially with 'the short lady at pre-submission desk', me i don't have patience with rude service providers o, i was forced to set her straight immediately.

Anyways welcome on-board the train, we shall all receive the good news soon!

APRIL/MAY/JUNE/JULY/AUGUST APPLICANTS WHO HAVE SHARED THEIR PROFILES
Note: this is not a list of fall/winter applicants. It is strictly a list study permit applicants who have responded to and given
their profiles to help establish a timeline as to how CIC operates. Based on the analysis of the data, it is holding true
that biometrics is often requested within 24 hrs to 2 days after transmission for online applicants; review of eligibility is started within 8-10 weeks, medical call between 10-12 weeks and decision dished out within 12-14 weeks. Paper Application it seems is significantly faster than online application. As usual, there are outliers to this average. We shall get madame @Goinforward when she gets back online, to come and pray and reach out to the throne of grace on behalf of all applicants. For all the applicants listed below who were so generous in sharing their profiles, we say a special thank you and more grace. It shall surely end in praise!!

Online application submitted: 03 August
Call for Biometrics: 04 September
Biometrics done: 05 September
Upfront medicals done before application submission

Received "your application is under active review" email on 19 September.

No updates yet!

Yes they do, but am sure they just increased their limit. Check with your branch if your Mastercard is 'activated' for online banking or if your account is properly 'linked' to your card. Could just be a minor thing.

A world class MBA in Canada will be ROTMAN MBA at UT.....IVEY MBA at Western University, SCHULICH MBA at YORK, and maybe DESAUTELS MBA at McGill or QUEENS MBA. They 5 are very pricey!!!!

Well I think all Canadian Universities are 'world class', so he can definitely get world class MBA from any one of them. Se Unis are just more popular or have more history than others and I don't think that justifies paying the millions they charge in fees. Except if you're a Naija politician or have billions saved somewhere smiley

Please does anyone know colleges and universities that accept NECO GCE and will refund if visa isn't approved. Thanks

I think you will need to check individual schools for their admission requirements. Just pull up list of universities in Canada from Google and check them out. Although, I suspect that most Canadian Universities will accept NECO.

I don't know about refunds, but again that's usually not a problem as schools know that visa is never guaranteed.

Good evening,
Pls i am still awaiting outcome for admission and i want to seek advise on sponsorship. I plan goimg for MBA and i have been saving up for a while. With almost 12 yrs work exp. Can i be self sponsored? I have enough funds on my own. Can self sponsorship reduce my chance of getting the permit?.

No. I do not think self sponsorship affect your chances of getting the study permit in anyway. In fact with 12yrs work experience, I believe the visa Officer will expect that you have earned and save enough to sponsor yourself. Although that long work experience also means that you have been out of school for long time. You may have to explain/convince the VO in your SOP why you're going back to school now after so long, how it improves your career prospects and why you choose Canada.

All the best!
