Jobs/VacanciesRe: Busted: Tellers Welfare - The True Story In Access Bank! by yetseyi(f): 11:10am On Sep 27, 2013
Travelista: Why is this complaint being posted over and over? Stop comparing your new employer to the old one (that failed). So, you don't get a birthday cake? You're at work to work; you can celebrate on your free time or, better yet, the support staff can chip in and buy cakes for their coworkers.

Core staff and support staff are not the same: most companies work to keep their core employees while support staff is seen as expendable. Sounds harsh but it's true.

Why should someone have a Bsc and be treated equally with someone that has an HND? I worked hard, double majored and got into law school and graduated; there is no way on earth a corporation would agree to offer me a package they offered to someone in a support role. If you're so 'literate', go back to school and upgrade your degree because the real world is not going to slow down or downgrade their standards to appease you.

Businesses (banks included) are open to make money. Support and contract staff traditionally do the majority of the lifting and get paid the least. You can't expect a professional or core staff member to spend their day answering phones, counting money or typing letters; that grunt work...and that's where support staff comes to the rescue.

I'm seeing a lot of whining in this thread and very little, if any, is justified. Your employer only employees you: they don't have to be your friend, hold your hand, celebrate or commiserate with you. Do that on your personal time. Don't like it? Get another job or research what it takes to join those you feel are treated better. I know this doesn't sound nice but that is how things work everywhere.
I thought they said HND and BSc are equivalent

Emary: I've been reading this thread and silently weeping for hours now. The real problems here transcend religion. All I see is pure wickness and intolerance. I have so many muslim neighbours and friends who are decent, patient, kind and well-mannered so I can't imagine them doing this but you just never know.

Meanwhile, I have been imagining this kind of scenario at any of our own local shopping malls or a major event and God help us, it would be a pure disaster. If they took 20 mins to respond in Kenya, ours maybe up to 1hr. Please, we have to be vigilant on our own,o. Observe your neighbours, co-workers and all the people in the vicinity of anywhere you park, shop or eat out. Store emergency numbers on your phone, don't hesitate to report any overtly suspicious activities and get up and leave the place if your inner voice tells you to. This kind of situation will be every man for himself in Lagos. At least people were helping each other there but here, even a road traffic accident victim is stared at with little effort to help. I know we say, God forbid, it can't happen to us but none of these people ever imagined this either. I mean it looks just like a movie. God save your children, o!
my thought exactly can we respond within 20 minutes in nigeria? I saw paramedics, ambulances, people caring for a fellow human
and @the bolded I was watching on amateur video of how people were scampering to safety in the mall after the attack on cctv station and it was said that they called the police and I am just wondering if there"s any emergency line we can call the police on here in Nigeria well may be except Lagos with the emergency 767 and 112
If some thing like this happens do we even have a general number to call the police?

honestly I feel the kenyans are ohk. they may not be the best but they tried . 20 minutes in Nigeria is impossible( I dont hate nigeria ooo proudly naija) but that is the truth.
I hope something of this magnitude never happens in nigeria

Scun: Do you realise people are still held hostage inside and they haven't figured out any way to get them out?
Yes I know, but at least they are trying. I am just wondering if we would get this kind of response here especially in terms of medical attention for the wounded
PoliticsRe: Kenya Mall Under Attack From Islamic Terrorists (Pictures) by yetseyi(f): 2:38pm On Sep 22, 2013
I am just wondering if we are capable of this kind of response in Nigeria. I don't know much about weapons and the military but I just feel that from what i watched in the video response was swift the scenerio reminds me of that film 44 minutes.
I see ambulances in the picture . U've got paramedics attending to people. I just can't help but ask again if we can handle this situation if it happens in Nigeria.

RIP to the dead
Quick recovery to the injured
and kudos to the photojournalist or whoever took those pictures

Sagamite: All these pictures I am seeing of Kenyan security forces is just a pure shame on Africa.

- You hear unknown men are sporadically killing people and the security forces sent people with mufti and no identification badge carrying guns to go and save them? How will the people know the difference between murderers and security forces guys?

- Many of the security guys are so ill-trained they seem to always have their guns facing downs instead of "pointed and ready". A bullet travels faster than your reaction. If a terrorist comes round the corner, you are dead before you can react.

- This quack goons are telling people (including kids) to run to come and meet them in safety, instead of taking their guns, in a set "pointed and ready" position, to meet and escort these people from their spot of temporary safety to full safety.

Africa is run by fucktards!
hmmmm

simply because lot of times the MAJORITY may not support what is right.
people will always say something, it does not matter if you are right or wrong.

olojuede01: English no easy eeee!!!! So confusing. We were having a training at work and the trainer asked all of us the question, and we were like....... huh huh huh huh Seems we all take it for granted and use it interchangbly. A whole lot of people don't know the difference. Thanks so far @yetseyi

I believe we learn every day. wink
EducationRe: Difference Between ADVICE And ADVISE & When To Use It by yetseyi(f): 2:13pm On Sep 19, 2013
yetseyi: pls advise
I thought I answered your question
olojuede01: So in the context of replying a mail (Please Advise/Advice), which do i use?
olojuede01: From your analysis, it is still confusing when using it in a sentence. For instance, "I WAS ADVICED/ADVISED TO STAY AWAY"
Advice is a noun. It means a suggestion for a beneficial course of action. Advise is a verb. It means to give advice.

In this case it should be I was advised to stay away.
