There is always two side or more to every stories, the Senator has spoken his side of the story. I will like to hear any objection to this story if there is any, and most preferably I will like to hear the truth from the horse mouth - IBB. Mr Past President, can please to tell us the reasons for ur action on June 12 1993? As a fellow businessman, I will advise to write a book, am sure you will not have problem selling at least 100 million copies. In addition, Am glad the electoral college Agenda was not successful. If not the system will only favors the north as they claim to be more populated than other part of the country. And most we copy everything they do in America? |
I was planning for my vacation in EU and was checking how I can legally drive in that part of the world. So I realized one could get an international driving permit (IDP) to drive in EU and most countries of the world except few countries that includes Nigeria, China, Brazil and Somalia. Well, my questions to the lawyers and other political professionals in the house are, Can we (the citizens who reside outside the country) petition the federal government to explain why the country does not accept the IDP? And also, Can we petition the National Assembly to work and pass a bill legalizing the use of the IDP in Nigeria? As those of us who visit Nigeria often know that getting an original drivers licence is stressful and time wasting task, the use of IDP in Nigeria can be the solution for now. The IDP is a document recognized by many countries which allows the permit-holder to drive a private motor vehicle in that country. To be valid the IDP must be accompanied by a valid license from the home country. The document is slightly larger than a standard passport and is essentially a multiple language translation of the permit-holder's normal driver's license, complete with photograph and vital statistics. In most countries however, short term visitors do not need to posess an IDP since the licence of the home country is recognized and permits one to drive in the host country. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Countries_that_Recognize_International_Driving_Permit.svg |

akintun: Managing an airline company is one of d most difficult job in d world. U just have to look at d sector worldwide to understand how difficult it is to manage an airline company. Virgin and other big airlines are facing real difficulties, and d airline company of an Indian billionaire just declared bankruptcy. D complain from d workers are similar to d complain we usually hear from BAE workers. You are very right. Air transport business on a very good year has a profit margin of about 5-10%, which doesn't look so lucrative. Airline companies around the world are facing similar issues. For example, the US has more than 50 airline companies in the 90s but presently most of them have gone bankrupt and some got bought out by a larger company. The business is bulky, requires lots of capital and yet has a poor profit margin. |

coogar: i don't quite understand this bit.........what you said sounds like a ponzy scheme, meaning you make an investment becos everyone is doing it and seems that they going to make money. While the facts remains, only the first privileged investors who got out of the scheme before the bubble busted are the lucky ones. |
If you are not going to Nigeria to set up your own business or work in a family business, its better to stay put in everywhere diaspora you are. Its true that Nigeria is changing for better and the middle class spending capacity is getting bigger but the fact is Nigeria is still under a transition period where there are great opportunities only for investors and not job-seekers. Its true that good education is the key to good living condition but only when the education can be put use; its like buying a bucket of KFC for a 2 year old who doesn't care what kind of food you give to him. There are job opportunities in Nigeria but its only everyone is over-qualified for the job. For example, in the USA, those so called engineers who works on oil rigs or engineering firm are mostly not university educated, majority of them are technicians who work their way up to becoming certified engineers through experience. The scenario in Nigeria today is that nobody was to start climbing from the bottom of the ladder, majority wants to jump on the ladder at the midway up which is not logical. Going overseas to get education is good idea but look before you leap next time. its time we start to consider the return on investment on education before paying for it. My point is that only relocate to Nigeria when you have enough resources to set yourself a business or investment. One good thing for business owners in Nigeria now is educated labor is still very cheap, 40% of college graduates have masters degree and about 15% of college graduate have PHD. Think on what you can do for your country and not what your country can do for you |
Those SUV are not bad at all, but the best market strategy for this company is to open service stations around whereby trained technicians can service customers' cars. I can decide to buy my next car from the company if they offer @least 5 years drivetrain warranty. mojounited: Holy molly! Those are clean rides... Patriotic Nigerians need to patronize Innoson |
OMG I wish the auto insurance in the UK is as cheap as in the US, paying abt 350 - 400 pounds for comprehensive insurance per annum? Abeg we need to transfer those Actuarial guys to the US to save us from these dubious capitalist, or are does Uk has better drivers? . But, the gas price in the UK is abt 2.5 times what it is in the US, so I guess there is no perfect place to own an automobile. Even Naija where everything looks cheaper, there is no good road to enjoy ur driving . |
Siena: ^^^ Interesting results! The result of that race was due to the GTR manually shifting while the Audi is automatic, if you watch carefully you will see what am saying. Much respect for ur contribution on the forum, I am always hunting for ur comments ![]() |

[quote author=t-die]Hello Adex. Please I have an enquiry to make. I want to import a 1994 Mercedes E500 (Basically the top model of the Mercedes 'V Boot'). Problem is obviously that it is older than the 15 year age limit on cars which are allowed into Nigeria. Is there any legal way of overcoming this and paying normal custom duties... or must it absolutely be smuggled in? Thanks for your help. t-die [/quote I will love to own this car too but the maintenance cost scares me. |
Mr. ADEXFEM, I have a car presently on the ocean abt to land on lagos but the problem is that the shipping agent could not a give me a hard copy bill of lading, all I have is an electronic copy. Can I print this @ home and still be able to get my car. The shipping line is Sallaum line and I used RORO. Thank you |
OMG, this is a project indeed. I wish you live in the US, I would have join you to be part of the project. Goodluck bro and keep us posted. |
Then go buy one for yourself and join the association of jet owners, but remember you cannot park it infront of your house. |
Kslib: ***spits.... Pheew*** What da hell is wrong with my xtian brothers here??May God bless you for saying the truth, and you have gained my respect. Please educate the brain-washed bible carriers who have cannot think independently. Some dont even know that the Jews are not christian, even their culture is more Islamic. |
My Advice to a fellow Nairalanders: I respect everybody's comment here but my advice is this: Kindly ask the person to send ur money back by giving excuses such as medical emergency (God forbid). I live in the US and knows whats going on, as from today the market will be saturated with the flooded cars selling for cheap price (which is a good deal for naija dealers). if you ask the guy not to buy a flooded car there is no way you can know cos the cars will be properly cleaned to avoid odor and suspicious signs (as stated by oga fhemmmy). Accepting your loss on the transaction fees is better then buying the junk in market now. This is a salt water flood. And for those contemplating on buying American cars soon, pls buy from the West coast or buy from Europe. |

I have a 2003 Honda CRV and 2004 Infiniti G35 coupe about to be shipped, do you have any recommendation for shipping line from NYC and how much is the clearing cost for the cars on RORO (which I think is cheaper right?) Thanks |
