I'll like to know if I can get a good paying HR job easily in Ontario after doing a Masters degree in HR in a Canadian University.

Hi what question do you want answered? Am not in HR but about to switch careers . I have read about it extensively so I think I can answer some questions

I'm seriously considering doing a Master's degree in HR when I land Canada and taking up a job in HR. Please if anyone has the answer to Arielle's question, I will greatly benefit from it. Please answer us.

Arielle:

Hi Hamilton. I'm wondering the same thing. I saw your post several days ago and have been looking out for a response to it. It seems HR is not popular among immigrants hence the dearth of response and information on this thread. From some eesearch , I get the impression that its a difficult field to break into. I thought of doing a PGD, but I'm getting a bit confused. Please share any additional info you may come across. Good luck!

Ok, waiting for mail.

That means got med passed on the 30th oh, looks like I misread that, you meant overnight like 3am today right? I guess mine might have come in around the same time then but didn't check until later in the day. Maybe your messages to them made them prioritise your application. Some things can be blessing in disguise

Since you're the same age as your wife and she has the same qualification as you, there's no reason for her to be the principal applicant, it won't make any difference.

Meanwhile, your IELTS doesn't give you the highest possible points. You need to get 8.5 in listening and that 6 in writing has thrown your points off balance. You need to aim for 8 in writing. Speaking has to be 7.5 while reading should also be 8. With that, you'll get the highest possible scores for IELTS. Your wife just needs to get 8777 in LSWR respectively to give you the maximum 20 points that she can. Her certificate evaluation will also give you about 8 or 10 points. Not sure now which is which.

JORN:

Thanks all. I appreciate from the bottom of my heart. I will go for her ECA, hopefully WES and also let her take the test with the aim of getting a CLB not less than 9.

But with my score of 8767.5, does it not amount to CLB 9? 8777 gives an average of 7.2 while is 7.125.

Opinion please.

Need also say that ICAS scored me with two canadian certificate equivalent.

Yes, I was in the same situation, and I raised a CSE but was I advised that I should have explained it with an LOE and uploaded it in the placeholder for LOE before submission. I think the advise is a better option.

Yimiton was in same spot few weeks back, seem she raised CSE to upload. Let's wait for her to confirm what she did.

You can't enter the pool without your ECA report. You will need the result date and the ECA number to fill your application.

JORN:
Good afternoon Fam.

Its so nice to be here.

I have been reading the threads for days unending and i believe the information received have been really helpful to so many persons in cluding me.

Thank you all.

I have a little challenge and I pray to be given a helping Hand. This is it:

1. I have done my IELTs with the following scores: L 8; R 7; W 6; S 7.5 -7.5 You need to re-write. Your writing is too low, it needs to come up to 7.5 at least. While you're at it, try to get L 8.5; R 8; W 8; S 7.5
2. Sent my ECA to ICAS and have been replied - ICAS takes quite a long time to respond. If you'd been reading this tread, you'll notice that people are usually advised to use WES, IQAS or recently, ICES.
3. have a 12 years Experience as a teacher with Bsc Industrial Mathematics and PGDE - Hope you evaluated both certificates to give you more points?
4. NOC is 'A 4031'
5. Have a wife and three Children - Is your wife younger? Can she write and pass IELTS? Does she have a BSc with or diploma or Masters? If yes, you guys stand a better chance with she being the principal applicant. Your age will fetch you very little points
6. I am 40yrs old - refer to answer number 5
7. Just got admitted for Msc Mathematics 0 This can't count...at least, not yet
8. Now tried using the come to Canada online tool to check for my eligibility and along the line was asked how many years experience do i have as a skilled worker in Canada answer is 0, then my NOC You have a NOC now, write the NOC there. I replied none for each since i have not been to Canada and was told i was not eligible to apply. Should I have used answered on the affirmative based on the fact that i already posses this skills in Nigeria as well as the NOC in Nigeria?

What are my Chances?

If your wife doesn't write IELTS and she doesn't assess any certificate, with your current profile, you have only 320 and a very very very slim chance of getting a provincial nomination. If your wife assesses a certificate, (let's say BSc), she'll give you 8 points. If she writes IELTS and gets 8777, she'll give you another 20 points, which will be a total of 345. That's still pretty low honestly.

So, please refer to my points in the response above and see how you can get better scores.

Thank you.

Since the first job is over 3 years, the proposed action is perfect.

geebaby10:
Thanksss for the response. @yimiton it took about 6 working days to get a response.

Please I have a question

Person A had over 3 years in one job then started a new job post ITA. Because new job is less than two months at the time 90 days is up, a reference letter cannot be obtained as Peron A is still in training in the new job.

For documentation Person A uploads a proper reference letter for the first job (this is the work experience that points were claimed for before ITA) and for the second one, uploads just the employment letter. In the LOE, the person explains that as the job is new and training is still ongoing, roles and responsibilities have not been properly defined and includes other details about the job like hours a week etc.

Both jobs were listed in the employment place and personal history place. Documents have already been submitted.

Please what are the implications of this?
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program-Connect Here Part 2 by yimiton(f): 12:00pm On Sep 05, 2017
There's no benchmark. It depends on a number of factors: 1. What are the scores of the people in the pool 2. How many people with high points, 3. How many people does CIC want to invite.

The last lowest score invited was 434, before then, it was 433, before then, it was 441 etc. You can visit this link to see how the trends have been since the beginning of express entry http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/past-rounds.asp

Our collective advise is aim to ace your IELTS and you'll be good to apply.

Develpeast:

Please what is the present benchmark for the canada immigration. I thought it was 415 before now. Please what is the recent benchmark
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program-Connect Here Part 2 by yimiton(f): 11:51am On Sep 05, 2017
Bros, with this your profile, you currently have only 364, which cannot give you an ITA.

Sorry, in this our Canada trip, what you studied and class of your degree do not count. 1st class and 3rd class are on the same level. Only IELTS scores, years of experience and level of education matter(PHD will give you highest, followed by Masters (or professional course), then 2 or more degrees (OND and HND are considered 2 or more certificates, which means they are regarded higher than a BSc) then, last is BSc.

So, for you to get the points that you actually need, you need study very hard for IELTS, re-write it and get the following points R-8, W-8, L-8.5, S-7.5, add your NYSC experience to be able to claim 3 years. With that, you'll get 441 points which will most likely give you an ITA. If you have a sibling in Canada, you get extra 15 points which will give you a total of 456, if you don't, 441 is good enough.

All the best.

No, if you have enough points (443 is a very good score), your spouse doesn't have to write IELTS or ECA.
CNNN:

What happen in June?

Is it a must for wife to do wa and IELTS if I get enough point.?
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program-Connect Here Part 2 by yimiton(f): 10:43pm On Sep 03, 2017
His initial post said 443 is after he adds spouse without ECA and IELTS. Without spouse, he has a much higher point. I see no reason y he can't add his spouse right away

perks:

CRS will drop if he adds spouse before AOR. It's only after AOR dat u can add a spouse without it affecting ur CRS points.

NB: d date on d marriage certificate must show dat u actually got married after AOR oooo.
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program-Connect Here Part 2 by yimiton(f): 10:39pm On Sep 03, 2017
That's in canadian dollars. In USD, it's about $1,900USD for a family of 4. That's 2 adults and 2 kids, so I believe you can use the Naira card, but like you said, if it doesn't work, there are other options.

MRSDA:

We are a family of 4 and the fees are over 2k. Will try our card and if it doesn't work, will ask a friend to help.
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program-Connect Here Part 2 by yimiton(f): 10:00pm On Sep 03, 2017
I don't understand. If he gets married, even without his wife writing IELTS and ECA, he still has 443, why will you then advise him not to marry now?

Guy, Pls get married, enter the pool get an ITA with 443 (443 is almost certain to get you an ITA) and process your application so you and your wife can start your new lives together in Canada without complications.

Vanessa00:
Get into the pool as a single applicant, get ITA and AOR and marry her afterwards. Easier that way because she wont be needing IELTS or ECA in that case as opposed to the other option.

Some banks like UBA now have a monthly limit of $2000 using Naira debit card. Gtbank is $1,000 I think. If your family is 4 or less, you can use your Naira card for banks that have a limit of not less than $2,000. If your family is more than 4 (including you) then, you'll have to either use a dollar denominated Dom account or look for someone in Canada to pay for you and give the Naira equivalent to whoever he chooses.

MRSDA:

@ Ehrnie Ok thanks for that. Wikl not touch the document

Please How did everyone pay for their application? Will they accept a Nigerian dollar card?

Congratulations! I believe you have family in Winnipeg and that's why you've chosen to go there, otherwise, I'd have questioned your decision being that Manitoba is arguably the coldest region in Canada.
ebho:
Hello house,

Got our pick up mail for our stamped passport, family of 4. some few questions I would like to ask,

1. What is the best way of carrying money to canada(entire money) if you must carry it as cash, let your husband have some in his person while you'll carry the rest but please declare it before you leave and also when you land. It's not a crime to carry more than $10,000 but it's a crime not to declare it.

2. We will be leaving by October to winnipeg, what are we to expect. cold, cold and more cold. It won't be as bad as when real winter sets in but coming from Nigeria, it will be bad enough. I don't know where to get winter coats but you'll need them so much especially for your babies. Pls if anyone knows where to get winter coats in Nigeria, weigh in.

3. Are there any vaccination we need to do before leaving. vaccinations are not required but carry your babies vaccination cards, you'll need them when you arrive

4. We have a 2 years old daughter and a 7 month old son any idea of how we can manage them through this long journey? make sure they're as comfortable as possible. Carry duvet along on the plane. You'll need it during the layover. Carry snacks that they like and something to keep them entertained like this iPads with their favorite vedios downloaded, then pray they don't get cranky

5. We plan on carrying food items with us, any advice on the best way to do this. Canada understands that people are relocating and will take time to adapt, so bring food items is normal. Ensure you dry things as much as possible. Like the fish, bitter leaf, beans should be in zip lock and wrapped with newspapers, then label them

I will really need the input of the house.

Thanks

Why doesn't she just go to a high court and get an affidavit that she's a single parent? She can then upload it with the child's birth certificate. I believe that'll put an end to the uncertainties right?

On another case, a child born outside wedlock is referred to as a bastard in law? Wow, that's deep.

Ajujuju2:

Brotherly, I applaud your research skills but trust me... U knw nothing about this one. And i say this with love.

Unless there was a marriage or a co-habitation (living together and acting as married for a few years as to cause reasonable belief that there existed a legal relationship which u knw as comon law marriage) there exists no obligation on both parties.

Her relations with baby daddy no matter how long or short will only just be an affair even if they were engaged and then broke it off. Therefore she is SINGLE in every sense of the word.

Even a child born outta wedlock whose parents later marry is still regarded as a bastard under family law...Yes, the law can b funny and CIC knows not to meddle in personal affairs. I bliv her application on the face of it (and with the little information she has provided) is straightforward.

But ofcos this isnt a law school... and am sure we can argue all ways to support our views.

IF CIC WANTS THEY CAN ASK FOR ADR ON STATUS OF FATHER BUT CANNOT REFUSE HER APPLICATION BECAUSE THERE IS NO CONSENT LETTER.

Would it have been possible not include it to your application being that the child's birth certificate clearly shows that he was born in the US?

folamingo:
In respect of the post in the pic below, I promised to get back.

If you have a child or Children that is/are US citizen(s), kindly include US passport(s) when sending documents to AVO. I didn't include mine for my son and was later called to send it. So I incurred double cost undecided.

This applies if you used the US passport during the application. Cheers
