Odisweet:
Please want to understand this more sis
It's about half year dividends, mostly called interim Dividend that some banks and companies used to pay.
These banks and companies pay dividends twice a year.
So, the calculations you saw there were done in expectation of this year's interim Dividends using the interim amount paid last year as yardstick........this was to be used in positioning for this year's dividends, and more importantly, to know which one will give the best value among the four banks considered, for half year 2022.......all things being equal.
Hope I answered your question. smiley

. But you may buy Zee and Gee, higher then for final dividend.
You're right.........but pls note that my response was SPECIFIC to the question asked by @Lancee.

He wanted to invest solely for INTERIM Dividend and asked which one to buy, guess he needed just one stock among his listed four.........reason for that reply.

Happy Sunday. smiley

Good day Fam -- Based on the current price which stock will give good returns on inter div
Interim div tradition .. ACCESS -25k , GTB -30, UBA-20k, ZEE- 30k

Will there be any for UBCAP ? WAPCO ?

Thanks sis mcy56 ..my good sis
Among the 4, UBA or ACCESS appears better for interim than others.

Let's look at it this way using N1M as Capital at CP (excluding fees) and previous interim payout as consideration:
* ZENITH @21.75 = 45,997 units x 0.30 = N13,799.10
* GTCO @20.90 = 47,846 units x 0.30 = N14,353.80
* ACCESS @9.50 = 105,263 units x 0.25 = N26,315.75
* UBA @7.50 = 133,333 units x 0.20 = N26,667.00

** UCAP doesn't pay interim.
** WAPCO paid special interim Div in 2021 FYE, may just be a one-off thing, except there's going to be a surprise again this year.

the release of the negative result (all at once) is part of the scare tactics
And you can also be rest assured that the 14 minorities wld have received their own cut
What if OANDO eventually didn't delist??

The document says "If approved by all the minority shareholders at the court ordered meeting".

Looks like there's a game play going on here.....because OANDO was pinning the voluntary delisting on the petition by the minority shareholders, like they're not so keen on delisting.
This could be another strategy for safe landing of the bad results maybe, after that some minority shareholders will be against delisting. Whatever it is, we are watching the drama. smiley

They have 30days to set that out. But my guess is that they already have everything planned out. I just copied some 50k units as a gamble. My body too dey like buyout things. I pray this one no go run my belle.
grin grin
Everything sure look planned out. Since they mentioned "......and other information" or so, I knew they are planning something, but I'd thought they wanted to surprise with dividend, not knowing it's delisting.

Anyway, I think your gamble shouldn't exceed 5.50.........in case the exit price is N6....... especially with the loss recorded in released results so far.

Invest the 0.5M or 1M in even UBA, ZEE or GT and collect interim Dividend instead.

FBNH is on a free fall and i am heavily loaded on it.my brain is no longer functioning well as I have loose more than my house rent, I don't know if I should sell and carry my remaining Kaya and go,this one Peter is warning us about recession.
What made you invest heavily in FBNH in the first place? DD, fundamentals, bandwagon effect or Otedola factor? What was your motive and objective??

Think if you can sincerely answer yourself, then you'll likely know what to do or maybe you could get much better advice.

You come forth like someone knowledgeable in this biz from some of your previous contributions, so I expect more emotional control from you. See one of your posts below.

Anyway, I think you'll just have to exercise enough patience especially if you didn't borrow to invest here.......and moreso that your loss is just paper profit, you don't lose unless you sell. I equally think you answered yourself in your below post. smiley

First Bank is not the only bank/stock feeling the heat. Also, the news that Otedola sold some shares is mostly responsible for the sell-off, the guy is wise and a business man, it may be another strategy to come and accumulate more at cheaper price again.
Besides, he still remain the highest single shareholder in FBNH so far........

As for Peter, to change mouth can be so easy for him........he's seriously looking for bargain, so expect to see more bad news from him. tongue

Slimdove:
People should aline with Good dividends paying stock.like UBA ,UCAP,ZENITH ,GTB, IMG FIDELITY ETC in which ever way it goes,dividends will help reduce your lose and also target to buy close to bottom.

May God Almighty bless you Exceedingly ma.
Amen! Thanks sir.

I think those looking for where to invest should keep eye on those fundamental stocks with high dividend yields and either be picking in tranches or watching for likely bottom.

Siting example now, just trying to do some Arithmetics: smiley
In March/April 2020, ZENITH for instance touched N10.70 due to COVID-19 and thereafter went as high up as N27/28 or thereabout.......
Think 3 Dividends has been paid after that........2019, 2020 and 2021 FYE.
Meaning, whosoever was lucky to pick around that price, let's say N11 breakeven should be having No self fund in ZENITH by April 2022 again + price appreciation that followed after, whatever units is there +price appreciation should all be profit........it means, the lower ZENITH goes, the better the Dividend yield and the better the profitability.
So also GTCo and some other sound ones.

This time around, we don't pray for such unfortunate incident that could lead to the ridiculous prices of that time......but I think whosoever is trapped in those 4 banking stocks should just exercise enough patience if there's no fund to average down and can't sell due to heavy paper loss or so. Dividends is there to hold body, till things stabilize and reverse up. My take. tongue

Lol. Make you no mind my Arithmetics o. May not be accurate but just trying to picture the scenario.

Think you should contact Meristem via email or phone call. It could be that they already have updated E-mandate form, but due to unlimited copies of the old one online, locating updated one might be a bit difficult.

But on a very serious note, we need to reduce the influence of foreign investors on our markets. It exposes our market to negative effects of foreign actors. If US raises rates, our market reacts negatively, if the reduce rates our market remains where it was rather than react positively.
Think this was also discussed here one time like......
That the Govt ought to device means of controlling the ratio of a particular stock that foreigners can buy, especially banking stocks that are central to the economy..........if I still remember well...

Part of the negative effect is what we're seeing in the Financial Sector now....
Those guys are just milking the country.......Anything that affects them becomes the nations problem. Well, coupled with our own instability.

Small time again, they'll come back and start mopping the stocks, and we'll all be happy again........the damage they've done and are doing to the country's economy due to "porosity" is not small (let me use one of the ogas English then smiley )
Think someone said it would be an effect we would feel in the long run that time.

The banking stocks mostly affected are ZENITH, GTCO, UBA and ACCESS.
