I think the writers of the show are trying to please everyone. Including the SJWs. I mean, the main aim of the show is for it to sell, so why not make everyone happy so as to accommodate everyone within the show's audience. Or they have a subtle agenda supported from the outside. Whichever.

Maybe in am too observant, but I have noticed this theme of over the top mainstream feminism in many scenes, not just the ones I talked about.

I have studied so much about the current gender situation currently plaguing our world, especially in the West, to just think this is a harmless case of gender equality and directors and writers trying to balance things out in their portrayal of male and female characters.

A few episodes where women seemingly lead after seasons of enduring rape, arranged marriages and violence doesn't mean they're overdoing it.

Lets just be objective here. Meera is portrayed as a strong woman who protected a cripple Bran(male) from white walkers, fed him and pulled him on a wodden bed for months.

Brienne is portrayed as a powerful warrior who has fought against three of the most skillful warriors in Westeros, Loras, Jamie and Sandor, all male. And she defeated them all of them in single combat. She even held Jamie as prisoner for weeks. She also ended the life of Stannis.

All the Theon scenes with his Sister sort of makes my claim valid. The one when he was standing in front of Dany with his sister in episode 9 of season 6 was cringy. The grin on Dany's face. Sigh. Then you have the scene in the previous episode with Ellaria bossing him around. Lol.

Then there is Lady Lyanna Mormont talking down harshly at older men, all the time.

Currently, all the shows powerful characters are all female, except Jon. The males are subservient to them. It's like they killed off all the men, or cut off their balls, or sent them on long errands so that the women would occupy positions of power.

Maybe I am over thinking this, but it just seems too over the top for a show set in mediaeval times.

And to think the producers are male. . . Even the author is male.

That being said, it is a nice and welcome dynamic to see women take the lead especially on a show with a worldwide audience despite the medieval setting.

I see the feminism on the show as a way to balance all the female brutality by villains like Joff, Walder Frey, Ramsey, Meryn Tyrant and even Viserys. It seems fair to me. Let the women lead for once.

Maybe you only think they're overdoing it now because of the lack of male rulers who have all met their demise. I like how GRRM incoporates the consequences of sexism and female brutality in his works. It's subtle but it's there.
