The book was quite enthralling, reminded me of my philosophy and logic days back then as an undergrad. The book basically is like a handbook, a summary of sorts of key elements of arguments The do's and donts They are spread into rules which are backed up with easily understandable examples It talks about various forms of arguments, such as argument using analogy, argument by authority, argument about causes (cause and effect) and also deductive arguments which arw further broken down into really cool latin sub categories Modus ponens, modus tollens, hypothetical syllogism, disjunctive syllogism and dilemma Backed up with excellent examples to make you completely understand each concept Demonstrates how to prepare a formal argument, using various argument rules and methoda aa earlier described, analogy, authority, deductive, etc Also points out the various fallacies and how they weaken arguments.. Fallacies like ad hominen, ad populum, ad misercordian, non sequitur (does not follow), petitio principi (begging the question) , etc Generally it is a cool book and i know the knowledge there might not bring money (lol) but i believe no knowledge is waste. Here's another, have had this one for years tho... Just for continuous development Title : 4000 English words essential for an educated vocabulary... 25 - 30 new words weekly is steady and ok... I just wonder sometimes, How do we actually manage in this country? Jobs are scarce Things are expensive, nothing seems to be working. Ok you manage to get a job and they are pricing 30k a month, you take it so as not to be idle and to avoid being stricken by hunger. You're lucky as you are helped by a friend as regards accommodation. One week into the job and you've lost weight. The riguors of climbing buses upandan and eating just twice a day with one of the meals being 100 naira fried yam. You decide to cook to save yourself some cash, you go to the market to buy ingredients for stew and soup, you get home and realized you were duped lol. Tomatoes no reach anything, everything just costly You manage to cook, food finishes in 3 days Nd u realize you've spent just about the same as if you had eaten outside. Transport cutting your neck steadily, no light, you have to buy fuel to put on generator to pump water and put on fridge, else you cooked food spoils or you warm you small jollof till it becomes white rice. Now there's gonna be like a 75 percent increase in the price of fuel. You salary remains the same, transport sky rockets, mind you light situation remains the same, so you still have to buy your usual fuel. Foodstuff increases, stress increases as you have to walk from certain distances to help augment your transport fair, further reduction in weight, Fear of the unknown wont make you quit, yet you don't need to open burglary proof as you can just pass through it cos of weight loss.. You are returning home late one day cos of the long distance you had to walk and get mobbed, small phone gone, money gone, you don't even have money to buy fried yam that evening. And you graduated with a good grade, your younger ones look up to you, your friends look up to you.. You are smart, intelligent, but still suffering.. How do we repair this country? Is it beyond repair.. At least in our generation.. What have we done wrong to deserve such, why do we have to pay for the indiscretions of our leaders past and present, People are hungry and yet you still see them fighting online over pdp and apc.. Is this the kind of life we are meant to live, Just so you know, power generation isn't a global problem anymore yet we can't boast of half a day of uninterrupted power... In a country that is supposed to be a major oil producer.. I don't know what to say again sef... This isn't life at allllll.... I think we the present day youth/job seekers are the worst hit in Nigeria's history. In the 60's to 80's there were many jobs, few people,.. In the 90's more people joined the labor force, twas not difficult getting a good job.. Economy was still alright 2000's and we were still ok.. Now 2 million people applying for a job of 10 slots.. What becomes of the remaining 1,999,990 people? |
Now the avergae man would spend more from the little he has and the rich man hardly flinches... From 87 to 145 is just killing. In a country where people spend a sizeable amount of their salaries on fueling their generators for personal use and business.. That money you're even saying would be saved, how do you know it would be used for what its meant for and not embezzled or siphoned from Hope you sha know that we are in Nigeria |
detruthteller: ![]() Oya go and drive it and make a u turn lemme see ![]() |
Alright, so I'll create a group, Whatsapp or bbm or telegram ![]() |
Just when we thought we had seen it all ![]() But the way Nigerians wan take lean this period ehn, the money we are trying to conserve, na fuel and transport fair e go enter.. So kukuma just eat well.. Off to buy fried yam |
Make e go make u turn for shogunle make i see ![]() |
Make I epp you like your posts ![]() |
Moyarh:Of course the files are always better, i mean for dire situations, it cud just be your saving grace, like google drive just displays it straight up for you sef... It shudnt replace the normal stuff, but if all you have is a phone number of a prospective employer, then a short text messgar cover letter with a link to your cv might come in handy |
Wow! See job requests everywhere.. I know how frustrating it can get, I feel you guys' pain really i do. Ok here's what will happen, I'll share some ideas here, just did a lil brainstorming the last few minutes so lemme share what i came up with Firstly, your resume /cv needs to be excellent, you don't need all the experience in te world to write a good cv, you just need to know how to present yourselves Secondly do a Google search like this "engineering companies in lagos state", you'll get a ton of companies with links to their respective sites, some have career pages, fill and upload your cvs while also keeping track of the ones you've applied by writing them in a notebook. Upload your cv to a cloud storage eg dropbox and get a share link to it that you save on your mobile phone for easily sending as texts to people who need your cv or to prospective employers Learn new words each day to improve your vocabulary, there are tons of resources online, learn about mind mapping also Read as often as you can, just about any kind of book, visit the various sections on nairaland also and learn somethinh new each day.. Business and career sections are good destinations. Work on your mathematical, logic reasoning, etc cos you'll need them for aptitude tests. Work on your confidence also.. Since i can't offer jobs or job vacancies, I'll offer what i can.. I can open a whatsapp or bbm group where i can help folks look at cvs, share knowledge that i have, improve vocabulary together, help work on arithmetic and logic skills as well as interview preparation using the concept of mind mapping. So if anyone is interested, please like the comment above mine (or below) and I'll proceed... Note i wont be available 100% of the time.. I also won't be able to manage many people so there will be a limit Also any Nairalander here who wud want to assist would be highly appreciated I'm tired of seeing all these "epp me epp me.!! everywhere".. Disclaimer : i do not claim to be an authority in these things, just a regular person trying to make a difference |
Not really the best, but its ok sha. My batch was the first set to use that camp site back in 14 |
tosyne2much:Lol, are you sure its a lady behind that moniker sef |
Please does anyone know any site that dashes money? |
