Kobojunkie:
So far, I believe Buhari/Idiagbon regime was the best. Yes dictators but in less than a year, I figure about 6 months into office, those men were able to effect change that was felt by even the ordinary Nigerian. States were cleaner, discipline was the order of the day and prices stabilized. I remember bread back then went for about 10 kobo and school.

You should have seen people queuing at yaba, idumota etc to board public transportation. Every other saturday, from 7 am to 10pm, there was mandatory clean up all around the country ( Environmental Sanitation). I remember taking out the trash every saturday for the garbage man to come pick up. The roads were in good shape. I am not really sure about the state of the economy but it was decent. There were more jobs back then as well.
You forgot to also include tha enactment of that obnoxious decree to execute retoregressively drug couriers

@lucabrasi

As much as you tried to conceal it, the back of your head keeps getting hit by the toilet seat. You don't like Geny and you should be courageous enough to admit it. Whether she accepted that banana deal from that producer or not means nothing to you. To you, Geny is a half backed and mediocre actress because she has not acted in hollywood like olu jacobs or joke.

In your hurried quest to pull her down, you didn't realise the measure of quality of an actor/actress is not only on the theatre school she attended or where she has acted but also on the numerical strenght of her fan base, the quality of her performance on set and so many other things.

You can hate her but don't diss her

Politics › Senators & Monarchs In Grain Distribution Scandal by youngies(op): 2:21pm On Jul 18, 2008
A DRAMATIC dimension was added yesterday to the Senate investigation into the circumstances surrounding the current food crisis in the country when it emerged that two senators and some traditional rulers were among influential persons who benefited from the distribution of the 2008 Federal Government's strategic grains reserve.

A document entitled: "2008 Grain Release Beneficiaries" submitted to the Senate ad-hoc committee by officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources showed Senators Adamu Garba Talba (Yobe) and Ibrahim Ida (Katsina) as being among the beneficiaries, each of whom got 120 metric tonnes of grains.

The list also included five traditional rulers from the North, including the Etsu Nupe, who got 120 tonnes and the Emir of Biu in Borno State who received 60 tonnes.

Other royal fathers in the list are three namely; the Emirs of Lafia in Nasarawa State, who got 120 metric tonnes, Daura and Katsina in Katsina State, both of whom got 120 metric tonnes each.

Other beneficiaries include the Association of Poultry Owners, and millers.

The document also showed the State-by-State distribution of the grains. In the north, 20 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), got 36,000 metric tonnes. The 17 southern states got 10,200 metric tonnes out of the 65 metric tonnes distributed.

However, the Director of the Department of Strategic Reserves in the Ministry, Mr. Lawal Mohammed Ila, explained to the committee that some of the beneficiaries applied for the grains and collected on behalf of their subjects and constituents.

The committee frowned at the distribution formulae adopted by the ministry, saying it was a disservice to the ordinary people for whom the grains were meant.

The committee's chairman, Senator Idris Umar, expressed its anger in these words: "Mr. Minister, I want you to honestly tell us that the grains distribution list contains the name of any ordinary Nigerian. I can tell you that from the investigations we have made and from our records, there is no ordinary Nigerian who benefited from that distribution. If we are serious, let us be serious because the list does not show the beneficiaries were the end users. We should not be sitting here in Abuja and applying for grains when the people who actually need them cannot access them."

The committee also expressed dismay at the N10.5 billion extra-budgetary expenditure on the procurement of grains this year.

The panel's chairman expressed shock that despite the rule of law matra of the Yar'Adua administration, funds were still being spent by the executive arm of government without due regards for the provisions of the constitution.

The Minister of State for Agriculture, Mr. Ademola Rasak Seriki, had in response to questions told the committee that the N10.5 billion represented the total amount collected as levies on rice importation after obtaining an approval from President Yar'Adua to that effect.

He disclosed also that the ministry had spent the money to procure grains.

The panel also frowned at the non-compliance with the Public Procurement Act and other due processes in the purchase of grains.

The panel's anger resulted from Seriki's submission that instead of the ministry advertising for persons to apply to be selected for the procurement, its usual practice is to simply ask any member of the public to supply the grains.

Seriki also said that the practice equally applied to the distribution of the grains, pointing out that if advertisements were carried, seeking applications for selection for the distribution, prices of grains in the market would be inflated by marketers.

The panel also asked the minister to submit written explanations on why there were no procurements of grains between 1999 and last year.

It was also disclosed to the committee that the country required not less than 2.5 million metric tonnes to meet its grain reserve requirements as against the current 300,000 metric tonnes.

Meanwhile, the committee has summoned the three companies mandated by the ministry to procure fertiliser for the 2008 farming season to appear before it on Monday.

Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, Abba Sayyad Ruma, had informed the panel on Wednesday that of the 13 companies selected to procure fertiliser in the 2008 season, only three were eventually given the job.

Try do a google search on Kenneth Copeland and you will see enough evidence that he is not one of us. If you claim is your pastor's pastor then himself and your pastor are both heretics. Period!!!

Please go study Matt 24. The end-times are here.
Matt. 24

vs 11: And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

vs 24: For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

vs 25 Behold, I have told you before.

vs 26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

vs 27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Just a minute Mr. Smart Adeyemi

Before the ban on generators, I would like to suggest other bans in this order:

Ban on private schools because government have destroyed the public school

Ban on private bore holes because government has destroyed the public water corporation

Ban on private airlines because government has killed the Nigerian Airways

Ban on private banks because banks owned by the govt like ACB, National Bank, Bank of the North have all gone under

and least I forget . . .

Ban on Senator Smart Adeyemi because govt have corrupted the electoral system

I give it up for Kano youths, they have indeed raised the bar.

It is easier for people to sniff used sanitary pads, dirty socks, cow dungs, but to sniff Kano gutters/sewers is mind boggling.

With the rate of their innovations, I won't be surprised to hear any time soon that they are digging up graves to sniff decomposing bodies undecided

In as much as this is detestable, it is always easy to make wild allegations in Nigeria to whip public sentiments. The onus lies on the petitioner to prove his case beyond reasonable doubt that the judge has been corrupted by Oyinlola's lawyer.

Aregbesola should not stop at the media hype but should also take a step further by filing a petition at the NBA, NJC, Police and EFCC.

killayut:
The original Port Harcourt is owned by the Okrikas, and it was a small piece of land just about 4 miles long. But it extended to the IKWERE LAND OF DIOBU and continued to go further in to deep ikwere land. So in essence PORT HARCOURT REMAINS and OKRIKA TOWN but the satelite towns of all the rumu and diobus are obviously IKWERE TOWNS. . .
You were sounding somehow coherent until this point. You did veered off the cliff
. . .they aint part harcourt per ce, IF NOT one day even aba ot owerri would be PORT HARCOURT CONSIDERING THE DIRECTION OF THE DEVELOPMENT, UGWO OCHA IN ibo language simply means land of the white man, a place where people make money, the ibos call ph ugwo ocha because of this port harcourt status, It was at that time the london and the NEW YORK to them. Hence even NEW YORK CITY , LONDON AND SUCH TOWNS ARE IN IGBO LANGUAGE UGWO OCHAS,

The Governor-in-waiting theory is not that Andy Uba will have to contest another election in 2010. It is that Andy will dust his Certificate of Return that is if he still has it that was issued to him by INEC as the winner of April 24 2007 general elections in Anambra State and will walk staright into the government house in Awka without any other election come 2010.

I will not be surprised if the man is made the next governor. I mean it seems democracy has been re-defined in most of africa so what stops this? I would have said God but I am tired of having God mentioned in the same context. ROFLMAO!!
No matter how skewed democracy in Africa and Nigeria has become, the decision of a lower court CAN NEVER supercede that of a supreme court.
