Good write up, but you veered off from the truth when you said: Finally, we all see Awo differently, depends on how and from what perspectives, but he was a nationalist and fought for Nigerian independence like every other Nigeiran leaders, he believed in justice and egalitarian society.Even the core awoist can ascribe everything to Awo both true and imaginary but definitely not a nationalist! |
I don't agree that the North has the highest illiterate children in the world. Are the children of Afghanistan and Burkina Faso more educated thanSTOP playing the ostrich, as of today you do not have any valid source to substantiate your claim. The situation in the North is already bad enough. The North Central is not Majority Christian, but has the highest number of Christains than other region in the North.Whether it is six or half a dozen, the indication is that the high percentage of Christians in the North Central has made that region to pull away from the illiteracy level plaguing the other regions in the north. Without trying to be politically correct, the predominance of Islamic religion in the core north is overtly or covertly contributing to the educational backwardness of that region Something urgent needs to be done on the mind set of an average northerner, to know that embracing western education does not stop them from practicing their religion, rather it helps them to improve their selfworth, liberate their minds, create better living opportunities and so on. |
You don't get it, what QuotaSyste was saying is that in as much people who should know feels comfortable spelling Igbo Ibo, he too finds it acceptable to spell Yoruba Yoruba or Hausa as Awusa. Nothing gained nothins lost. |
Archaeological evidence suggests that man as been using iron tools and weapons as far back as 6000bc.Case closed!!!! |
I wetera ozi m? |
QuotaSyste you are nuts! You mean Yoruba is as correct as ibo? |
Mortiple:Furthermore, okpoko is an unsually very noisy and colourful bird. It is expected that most g.hoppers should hear or see it approaching. |
Pele's goal against Sweden, 1958 World Cup is a top draw if you ever have the opportunity of seeing the clip. This is probably Pele's greatest goal scored in the World Cup. He flicked the ball over a Swedish defender, and then volley it home from close range. Wonderful ball control, and all that done at 17! |

Borgetti's goal against Italy in Korea/Japan 2002 iwas sheer class. Following 90 seconds of buil-up play with 14 passes and not a single touch from an Italian player, Blanco's intelligent floated cross was met by Borgetti, whose exquisitely directed back header eluded Gianluigi Buffon. |
Dayokanu with his fixation on the English! |
so you can only point out the Paul Dike issue out of the few questions i just raised? Why not make an Igbo man in the Army the CDS? Why was Onovo dropped shamelessly as the choice of Inspector General of Police?I pointed this out for you so that you can avoid spewing half truths, for you to make a strong case you have to always double check your facts before posting them a public forum. Mind you, you are by no means more Igbo than I am. Facts are sacred, you can always verify. |
Why will they not laugh? It doesnt concern them. I no longer wonder why all the other tribes in the country hates the Igbos because I have since come to understand that it is FEAR. They fear that the igbo man is too clever and intelligent. Thats why they don't allow any igbo man to get too close to any good thing in the country. Somebody has just asked whether it is not state government that maintains a Federal structure like Niger bridge on a Federal highway Another hypocrite hausa/yourba will soon second him that, yes, its the fault of your own leaders! Thats about all they can defend themselves with. Things are bad all over the country, yes we know that but we have all been to the North and we all know how roads are constructed in high standard and all. Some questions that I will expect any hausa/yoruba to answer includes: 1. Why will the Fed. govt. award the maintenance of Niger bridge to setraco? Would it have been setraco (and not Julius Berger) if the bridge is the West or north? 2. Why has the government abandoned shagamu - ore - benin expressway and leaving travellers on that road who are mainly igbos to the mercy of robbers and accidents? 3. why is there no seapor or international airport in the igboland? 4.why hasnt any igbo man been made the defence minister or inspector General of Police or other sensitive national position. there are many of them, and they have one simple answer--- they are afraid of what the igbos might become.
. . . and now that an Igbo man (Paul Dike) is the Chief Defence Staff will views change? It is a criminal and wicked neglect by the FG to have allowed the Niger bridge to detoriate the status it is currently is. |
@People, please let's try to limit our choice of goals on WC goals only, not Euro nor club football. I don't know if anyone remember this beauty called a goal? Roberto Baggio's goal against Czechoslovakia in Italia 90 A marvellous run by Baggio after receiving the ball on the half way line, nothing could stop him from scoring. Goal was written all over the field immediately he made his first touch on the pass at the half way line. The goal was peach as Hannibal will always say |
dayokanu:Sometimes it may not be only the English that could be idiots, the goal by Michael Owen against Argentina in 1998 probably comes to mind, |
Since the inception of the world cup in 1930 till date, so many wonderful, breathtaking goals have been scored by great players, goals one can only but dream of. Though no one can say he/she has watched all the previous WC matches, so my choice of WC best goal will be limited to the matches that I have seen either live or on tape. Many fans regard Maradona's second goal against England in the 1986 WC in Mexico as the best WC goal, personally I feel that many fans have not had the privilege of watching what I consider my best WC goal. It is the Carlos Alberto Torres' thunderbolt in Brazil's 4 - 1 demolition of the "masters of defence," Italy, in the 1970 WC final. Nine Brazilians were involved in the build up to that goal with Pele setting the stage for team captain Torres' blinder to the far post. To my mind, the goal is probably deserving of FIFA's award as the most beautiful goal in WC history. What's yours? |
First off, Channels Tv goofed by airing that sensitive piece of news, they should at least have confirmed from a reliable source. Now, who could have been that reliable source from the presidency? Min. of Info, Mr. John Odey, from his last outing (president's health issue) can best be described as Min. of Misinformation. The guy has no clue of what is going on in the villa. Segun Adeniyi - he is a huge disappointment, judging from his background. His phone is always switched off 80% of the time, because he wants to play safe. The only one left is the President himself, and bad enough he doesn't answer his calls himself, Turai does. Was the closure of Channels Tv an overkill? Emphatically yes, moreso when the mantra of this administration is adherence to the "rule of law" (whatever that means). FG did not and have not exhausted all the necessary administrative processes in dealing with an erring station as prescribed by law. Their (FG) action was hasty, harsh, barbaric, uncivilised, undemocratic and above all unconstitutional. The NASS seems to be a bunch of losers, they just vacated plenary without even a motion of "urgent national importance" on this issue, expect some few individuals like Mrs. Abike Dabere and Christy Anyanwu who continues to give some glimpse of hope. The Channels news hoax was embarrassing enough, but the FG handling of it - was without equivocation irresponsible, incredulous and unbecoming of a body that calls itself a government. |
But seriously speaking, @Nigeria1 what were you trying to prove with those aerial satellite photos? The clamp down of Channels TV or the new Mugabe kidney that he now has? ![]() |
Yea I think the guy meant to say Femi Fani Kayode |

Undoubtedly to me the best under 17 Nigeria ever had was the sctland 1989 squad, please remind of the team members. You forgot to mention a certain Peter Ogaba Who remembers Tarila Okorowanta and Totty Okoro TottyI do remember Totty O Totty back in the days o’dl with Rangers Int'l . . . where he is?. . . I hear he got a shop at artisan market in Enugu selling broilers and old layers |

Meaning that we are a people without a shephard? |
Kidnapping has never been the exclusive preserve of MEND. If some people will support and justify the use "starvation " as a warefare tool which lead to the death of thousands of innocent Biafran women and children by the Nigerian State, I don't see why they should care about kidnapping, blowing of pipelines and flow stations as a means of achieveing justice for the Niger Deltans. |
This question keeps bugging my mind most the time, from the 1914 when the contraption called Nigeria was conceived to the 60s when we finally gained independence, has Nigeria ever produced what can be described as a national political leader? Each time I look around, the leaders I see (both dead and alive) can best be described as regional leaders. How is it difficult that in the 48 years (abi 94 yrs) of existence as a country that we do not have what can be seen for instance as a version of Mandela, Gandhi, Lincoln, Churchill, Nkrumah e.t.c. If you feel strongly that Nigeria has produced a national leader that has been or is a rallying point and a beacon of light for all Nigerians, please do drop his/her name here and also tell us what he/she has achieved. We may add a poll if it becomes necessary. |
