Nowenuse:

Bro, if you count all the group of people who identify as Ijaw, all the way from the Andonis of Akwa Ibom & Rivers to the Degemas, kalabaris, Okrikas & Ibanis of Rivers state to the entirety of Bayelsa state (besides Ofoni town), then all the Ijaws in Delta south, then those in Edo state with up to 10 towns, then the entirety of Ese-Odo LGA in Ondo state.
Abeg, dem plenty pass Urhobo.
Ijaws dominate more than 20 LGAs in Nigeria and are minorities in like 8 LGAs, haba. No comparison.
Even if you add Isokos to Urhobo, it still won't meet up Ijaw.
Only Tivs, Kanuris & Ibibio-Efiks combined can square up or outnumber Ijaws in Nigeria.

However, Urhobo & Isokos combined should be the 6th or 7th largest ethnic group in Nigeria after the big 3, then Tivs, Kanuris and maybe (Ibibio if they are combined).
However you people combined will be clearly more than Igalas, Idomas, Nupes, Gbagyis, Ebiras, Binis, Esans and Ibibios (if u don't add Efiks & others).

Ijaws wouldn't have been so much, but during the politics of Old Rivers state where all the Lowland peoples were classified as Ijaws, it led to the swallowing up of other lowland tribes into Ijaw identity.
Are you aware that Ijaws are even trying to swallow up the Igbo speaking Ndoki people in Rivers state? Not linguistically of course, but politically.

Bro not all of Ese Odo LG is of ijoid stock.

All colonial records had Igbos with more population than Yorubas.

Oga, forget about any population records compiled before at least the 60’s.
Yorubas were chronic census evaders in the colonial era because many didn’t want to pay “owo ori” aka govt tax!

Rumors would spread around townships and villages that “awon agbowo ori” were coming to enumerate them and their families, and most ppl would hide themselves away, those who did get counted would understate the size of their families and property worth in general ... because you know... TAX!

I guess Buhari is also managing Angola, Gabon, Venezuela and Canada whose currencies have all massively depreciated since the oil price crash.

These countries are hell bent on flooding the Nigerian market with imported foreign rice... even resorting to smuggling through the waterways? That is some real desperation.
They had better develop an alternative economy rather than depending on smuggling in of contraband produce and smuggling out of hydrocarbons from Nigeria to make a living!

Nigeria: Border Closure - West African CFA Franc Crashes

^^ CFA Franc spending countries in West Africa

Lagos — The West African currency, CFA Franc, has crashed against the Naira to a new record low at the open market trading at 5680 CFA to N1000 due to the closure of Nigeria's land borders.

The nation's borders in four regions were shut down at the instance of a directive from the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) owing to the state of insecurity in the country.

Currently, the CFA has plummeted at the open market from 6890 before the closure, to a new record low of 5680. Also, the price per bag of a 50kg bag of rice which sold for between N10,000 and N11,500 has further crashed to between N8000 and N9000 depending on brand.

But the reverse is the case in Nigeria as investigation showed that whereas rice smuggling through the land borders has been effectively reduced, it has forced the market price of the commodity to surge from N14,000 or N18,000 to N19,000 per bag presently.

Consequently, smuggling through the waterways had never been so enticing as the smugglers understand that the only force they have to contend with is the Nigerian Navy, but whose primary and secondary concerns were crude theft prevention and seizure of adulterated diesels, instead of rice smuggling.

Traders and residents at the Seme border told Daily Trust that the prices of some commodities still witnessed a slight increase at the Benin Republic side of the border while the reverse is the case in Nigeria.

Economic and financial experts are however divided over the outlook for the Naira throughout the remaining part of the year; many have said the local currency may appreciate further in the coming months if the nation's borders remain closed beyond the stipulated 28 days mapped out for the ongoing joint exercise code named 'Exercise Swift Response'.

Also, according to a bureau de change source, currency traders were taken unawares by the new development.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) exercise, with backup of the Joint Security Taskforce flagged off, few days back may have successfully achieved a water-tight, anti- smuggling land border closure, forcing smugglers to take to the sea instead.

The geopolitical zone is made up of six states – Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti, Lagos and Osun. Lagos, the commercial capital of the country accounts for much of the indebtedness of the zone as it has domestic debt of N542.23bn.

Igbos are really funny people.
When Lagos adds to the South Western statistics Positively, it instantly becomes a ‘no mans land’ where Igbos nake up 80% of the population• But when Lagos adds to the SW statistics in other ‘not so palatable’ ways, it becomes a 100% ‘Yoruba only’ property....

These same jokers will say, ‘Remove lagos from SW’ when talking about the IGR from the same SW, or GDP of the west.

Well, we like our Lagos like that. Only a true mother will love their children no matter the circumstance.

It is true. For those who don’t believe it happened in Nigeria.
The Forests of Ogun and Ondo state are one of the few places left in all West Africa where elephants still exist and roam in the wild.

These are forest elephants, which were once thought to be the same with their savannah cousins on eastern and southern Africa. But upon further investigation and genomic profiling, have been found to be a different sub-species with subtle differences.

Unfortunately, I am sad and very much frightened for their safety, now that they are being seen by everyday people- knowing the kind of country this is. cry
In a locale like Naija, sometimes it is better for people not to know that certain things even exist... was it not barely 2 weeks ago that Bayelsa people massacred a beached whale to the bones, as if common fish is what they haven’t eaten before.

Much love and respect to the great one. Like Yorubas would say; “Ajanaku ti n mi igbo kiji-kiji” The movers and shakers of the African bush.

Lol, the Kenyans were winning as at Yesterday night because Nigerians didn't even know about the abuses the Kenyans were raining down on them via Twitter. #NigeriaVsKenya was the top tweet for more than half of yesterday up to this morning in Kenya, while in Nigeria it didn't even start trending up until a few hours ago.
Nigerians woke up this morning and saw what was happening and the table flipped... They are now being roasted like hell! They will never try rubbish again they should go pick on their mates like Tanzania and Uganda. Srsly, Nigerians don't give a f! about Kenya a country that is only 26% urban. Bt they re always looking for any opportunity to start KenyavsNigeria on twitter. Inferiority complex.

i perceive a deliberate attempt to adulterate and change the history of the Apoi by inserting connection with Ile-Ife, this was totally different from what my father told me, the Apois migrated from the Ijaws in the NIger Deltas their traditional titles, names of their villages and the festivals are all same with many ijaw communities of Balyesa and Delta states.
This attempt at inserting their origin in Yoruba is totalling uncalled for, your history is your history, be proud of it the way it is

And why do you have a Yoruba name?
Why not just bear Tombra so that we know you are totally Ijaw and here to represent their cause?

Btw: This is not the first or only time some Ijaw clans make reference to Ife. Simply say you haven’t heard it before or that it was different from what your old man told you.

These are all most likely transliterations into English gone wrong.
A lot pf African names make sense in the various indiginous African languages... but these days some Africans start thinking that is just not enough and then go on to translate such names into English.

They end up sounding totally disastrous.. as can be seen above.

Yes 200.... or in the least 100.
Your friends might be Arogbo who are more mixed with recent Ijaw ancestry. Majority of Apois know nothing but yoruba.
Look at their oral history, it clearly mentions Ile-Ife, Olofin Adimula aka Oduduwa and they speak Yoruba.
They check the list on all three criteria for 'Yorubaness'

Culture / Oba Bamidele Simeon Dabo Becomes Igbekebo New King In Ondo by YourNemesis: 4:22pm On Jul 20, 2019
It was all pomp and pageantry yesterday, Friday 19th July in Igbekebo, Ese Odo local government area of Ondo state as the king in Igbekebo His Royal Highness, Oba Bamidele Simeon Dabo who was earlier coronated as the new Odogun of Igbekebo kingdom received his instrument of appointment and staff of office.. The stool became vacant in 2016 following the death of the former traditional ruler, Oba Emmanuel Omotumilara Eginkunyomi who ruled for 23 years. The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, who represented Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, presented the instrument of appointment and staff of office to the new monarch.

The ceremony, which was also attended by the Commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Hon. Lola Fagbemi, Senator Nicholas Tofowomo and various traditional rulers from across the state and beyond, was held at the Community Comprehensive High School Sports’ Complex, Igbekebo in Ese-Odo local government. The selection process of the new monarch which took place at the Igbekebo Civic Center, Igbekebo earlier in May was keenly contested among five other princes from the Maga Okotun ruling house and others in Igbekebo before Prince Dabo of Maga ruling house was selected through voting. After his selection, Dabo was taken to the palace of the kalasuwe of Apoi land, Oba (Prof) Sunday Amuseghan for traditional rites and blessing. Oba Ademiluga prayed for the new monarch to live long, stressing that his reign will bring rapid development, not only to Igbekebo, but the entire Apoi land.

The chairman of the kingmakers, Chief Alex Mehin hailed the new Monarch on his selection and appealed to him to work with other contestants and seek their advice when necessary in the overall interest of the community. In his message, the Obateru of Apoi land,High Chief Folarin Dabo hailed the new monarch and prayed for God’s protection on him to lift Igbekebo higher.

According to Apoi history, The Apoi took their name from Apoi (Opoi) the son of Kala-Okun, who accompanied his grandfather Ujo on their way back to Otu-Ife or Ile-Ife. In a group of nine they got lost in trying to trace the route back without the aid of a navigator. So they decided to settle within the vicinity of the Nun river (Apoi creek), where the present village of Apoi is situated. Ujo who bore the title Kalasuo (KALA-SUO or KALUSO i.e. small god,), died here and his grandson inherited the title.

The Western Apoi call Kalasuo, Kalashuwe or Kalasuwe and Oborowi, Oborowe, and they no longer speak Ijaw language, but a dialect made up of the fusion of Ijaw and Yoruba. Of late they have moved on to adopting the general Yoruba which most of them now speak. As children of Ujo, at Ile-Ife the ancestral traditions name them as one of the sub-tribes that sprung from King Adumu-Ala (alias Oduduwa). The Apoi are pre-14th century.
The general Apoi king is called Oba and the title is Kalasuwe and the seat of the throne is in Shabomi and Oboro respectively.

Do you know the value Of land?
Do you know how much land America, Russia and China have stolen?..
Russia recently invaded Ukraine and stole land. China is busying claiming sea as their own and building artificial islands.
Are they also big for nothing?

Nigeria is a highly populous country. We need land.

Extending our territory is one of the most patriotic thing any Nigerian leader can do.

The only patriotic thing buhari has done was to extend our maritime territory in the gulf of Guinea.

Some people in Nigeria, especially the little kids among them on this Nairaland are so stoopid that they think always attacking anything Nigeria makes them somehow sound smart or intelligent.
You will see them supporting sheer stupid causes because they feel they have an opinion.
