Is the fully funded plus 10k monthly upkeep real? That's the only part that interests me.

waynee2baba:
*PROPOSED TRANSCRIPT

Harvard University
MSc Software Engineering
Fully-funded plus $10k a month as upkeep.

V.O: Good Morning
Me: I hear you
Me: Who you help, sorry, how may I help you?

V.O: Why are you going to the US?
Me: It's on the application form, make use of your sixth.

V.O: So why did you choose Harvard?
Me: Sorry, Harvard chose me, I didn't choose Harvard.

V.O: Wow, so why did Harvard choose you?
Me: Didn't you see my 4.0/4.0 GPA from Oxford? 339 GRE score? You want me to go on?

V.O: (cut's in) Oh no no, it's fine.
V.O: Did you apply to other schools?
Me: Before I walked in here, I filed for a digital restraining order on MIT and Yale. Their pleading has gotten out of legs.

V.O: Interesting... Why did you choose US
Me: Next question

V.O: Any standardized test?
Me: Yes, I actually interviewed Harvard and they impressed me by scoring 40% in the standardized test I set for them.
Yale couldn't even score half.

V.O: Hmmm. What are your study plans?
Me: After graduating with magna cum laude, I'll take a stroll into any FAANG (Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Google) at Silicon Valley
and negotiate a
salary of $400k dollars/year and sign-on bonus of $120k
as a Software Engineer.

V.O: So you mean you don't have plans of returning to your home country?
Me: To do what?
V.O: Bode Thomas... 'Bro remember the road that will lead you hom..'

Me: (Cuts in) Tani bro e? Your bro is in Yaba collecting treatment

V.O: One more question, can I see your bank statements?
Me: *passes Harvard University's bank statements*

V.O: Okay, I will be approving your...
Me: (Cuts in) Pardon? Who be this guy?

V.O: Oh Sorry, It's a great honour to issue you a visa Sir, have this white paper.
Me: Don't be silly, ask Harvard to keep the paper.

House, help me scrutinize this transcript. What are my chances of getting the visa?

Thank y'all for your anticipated cooperation.

Of course you can go with them. Not a problem at all

dumbiri99:
Okay I mean prescription drugs not hard drugs. Prescription drugs that can't be gotten over the counter in the US but can be gotten over the counter in Nigeria. That's what I mean?
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by ysteph: 4:51pm On Aug 01, 2019
Paracetamol and anti malarial are medications not drugs....drugs here means hard drugs, banned substance.
dumbiri99:
Wow. Even paracetamol and anti-malarial?
Plus there is a prescription medicine I use too for high blood pressure, I can't carry that one too?
TV/MoviesRe: Bbnaija: Ebuka Expressed His Hatred For Tacha Tonight by ysteph: 10:51am On Jul 29, 2019
I agree.
computergeek:
Bbnaija: Ebuka Evidently Expressed His Hatred For Tacha Tonight.

Before we delve into the main issue, a little detour.

So, I made a comment here last week about how heavily hypocritical Nigerians are about this BBNaija show. I only watch the show on Saturdays and Sundays, the parties and eviction shows respectively, and I don't understand why Nigerians are bit*ching so much about it.

All these moralistic, self-righteous people will be asking, "What is the essence of this BBNaija show?" Ogbeni, if you don't want to watch, don't tune in. Don't open threads concerning BBNaija. Submit your IP addresses let me see the kind of por*n y'all are watching. It's distracting Nigerian youths, are they retards? Don't they know they should only in their free time? Who's forcing them to borrow airtime to vote for already-made people?

.........................................................

So tonight, Ebuka was a plain bad show host. This isn't tribalistic cos I'm Igbo, but he didn't do well speaking to Tacha and addressing her like she's a cankerworm in the house.

He showed very clearly how much he hates the girl. Ebuka is allowed to have favorites but not to express favoritism or dislike openly.

He began by saying: "So, Tacha, you know all that's going on in the house. You seem to know who's losing and who's winning. You analyse everything bla bla bla... So tell me three characteristics of a winner,"

As a sharp PH babe, the girl said, "Tacha, Tacha, Tacha..."

Ebuka immediately took offense. In a demeaning way, he asked her, "What is the meaning of characteristics?" The girl said it means something that defines a winner.

He kept asking her the question in a very condescending manner and she kept saying, "Me." The girl even got surprised at a point about how aggressive he was.

Finally, he said, "I expected better," and some other rude statement he made, and moved to the next person.

....................................................................

At the end of the show, he began to shade Tacha very heavily but indirectly, saying that some housemates should know that they are not biggie himself but mere housemates. They should stop trying to know what the viewers want and have fun in the house. That some people here feel that because they have a so-called army outside, they can just sit through the show and win the money...

EBUKA, if you're on Nairaland, You messed up big time tonight putting that girl out there like that and demeaning like she was some slowpoke...

FYI, I want Omashola to win, not even the kain Tacha I'm here defending. I wonder why they didn't punish that Jackie girl for accusing Tacha of witchcraft. They let it slide. Defamation shouldn't be permitted even though it's a game.

Like play like play, na she go win even though she no go carry the money. Just like CeCe.

Good night, Nairaland.

Something as important as this why not go to the place where you will take the Yellow Fever Vaccine or go to Port Health at the Airport to verify.

pronto543:
Hi everyone,

I urgently need to know if yellow fever immunization is compulsory. I'm just hearing it's a new national policy and that it takes about 2 weeks to get it after paying the fee (2k naira) via remita.

I'm resuming at University of Kansas in about 2 weeks time so I barely have enough time. I eagerly await responses. Thank you all.

Just go with evidence of name change. That's all it's a simple matter.
creolehunt:
Hi guys.

Please I'm currently filling out the DS160 form but I have a confusion. After electronically submitting the completed form, do I still need to print it out and submit it physically at the embassy?

Secondly, my passport bears a different surname from my bank account. I did a 'change of surname' in 2016 and registered for my international passport with the new surname. While my bank accounts and other personal effects still bear the old surname.

Why I have been reluctant to reconcile this is because changing the surname on my account would automatically complicate my salary payment and before it would be resolved, this may take months.

I have a court affidavit and newspaper publication to this effect.

My question is, would the difference in surname between my passport and bank statement be a problem at the embassy.

Seyewest, salsera and anyone who can help please.

Dear US Mission Nigeria,

I have an F1 student Visa coming up soon. I also applied for my toddler as a dependant. Should I go with the child for the interview or can I just go with his F2 Visa application documents?

Yes, you don't need to take the baby there. But go with his/her passport.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by ysteph: 2:21pm On Jun 18, 2019
Good afternoon everyone....
If an F1 visa applicant has a dependent that is a toddler, is it necessary to go with the toddler for interview or just go with the visa application documents.
The reason i ask is this, the toddler has had B1/B2 visa issued twice and has never gone to the embassy.
As a baby, we were sent a message to bring in his passport and not come with him. This was in 2016.

TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by ysteph: 11:26am On Jun 17, 2019
Yes it is obviously somehow. We do not know the real details of the divorce and/or her story.
Time2win:
No, i am thinking the divorce is somehow cos the divorce is either a year or less than a year. The V.O made mention of that. She filed the divorce after the husband absconded, which is after their travel to the USA.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by ysteph: 11:18am On Jun 17, 2019
Secondly...you're assuming that its a proper divorce abi? I doubt.
Time2win:
Since the spouse is not in nigeria, how did she serve the petition? If she used courier, does she know the address of the spouse? I thought the two parties has to be aware.

Also, The court will not grant a divorce on a 1yr separation, except there is failure in complying with decree of restitution of conjugal rights made under the Act. If not, it has to comply to the 2yrs/3yrs rule.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by ysteph: 11:16am On Jun 17, 2019
I agree....but you do not know the specific facts of her case.
I am responding to what twoods said about signing divorce document.

TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by ysteph: 7:56am On Jun 17, 2019
Twoods...let me correct something.
In Nigeria, we don't sign divorce documents. The Petitioner files a Petition and serves it on the other spouse.
All the other spouse needs to do is file a response if he or she so wishes.
The only requirement on the part of the Petitioner is to serve the document on the other spouse ans show evidence in court.
He or she not being present the Petition will be heard and the divorce decree made.

I am thinking the original poster filled her marital status on the ds160 as married and not divorced. I may be wrong....just my thoughts.
TWoods:
Call a spade a spade, your chances of getting a visa are slim. The VOs have seen examples like yours time and time again. Even if you present a divorce document (which is hard to see since your ex spouse was not here to sign the document), how do you convince the VO that you’re not likely to get back together and remarry as soon as you get into the US? That’s the bottom line.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by ysteph: 10:06am On Jun 16, 2019
The issue is because you both got visas together the first time. It will always come up. Fill another DS160 let your marital status be divorced.
Katripka:
Thanks!

We were divorced after he moved to the US.

So here is a little background story, we were having a lot of marital troubles in the early years of our marriage, we both attended numerous counselling and part of the recommendations of the counsellor, was to travel on a family vacation together, in order to help the union.

We applied for a family visa and we travelled together. It was after we got to the US, that the story changed around staying back on our B1/B2. We got into a heated argument as I was unwilling to overstay, so I came back home and commenced the divorce proceedings which was finalized late last year.

I have the divorce documents but the VO wasn't even willing to listen let alone sight the documents. I tried explaining to her, that the opportunity to stay back presented itself, but because I was unwilling to jeopardize my future, I did not.

This is definitely not a case of wife going to join him but it's hard to believe going by the numerous atrocities committed by Nigerians
