you dont get my point, qbasic are tut to litlle kids, fortran we av beta, well advanced programing languages dan fortran. Imagine spending 4 yrs in skool and learning qbasic, fortran and python all tru 2 yrs...wen will u av time to learn beta languages like java,c++??
fortran for applications development is poor, but for high performance computing and scientific computing is excellent. I don't think there is a better alternative for these purposes.
EducationRe: Why The Discrimination Between Hnd Holders And Bsc Holders by zebra(m): 8:15pm On Oct 31, 2014
Let all polytechnic stakeholders come out in mass whether physically or online and support the removal of this discrimination. If the Nigerian HND is not equivalent to a Bsc how comes it is respected by many european countries and the US and its holders are given direct masters admission without going thru the PGD route? That's a good question to ask.

manutdadex:
so also qbasic! What abt mathlab?
All these were either developed from fortran or related to fortran.
ComputersRe: Nigeria In Massive Push To Reduce Dependency On Foreign Software by zebra(m): 1:18pm On Oct 31, 2014
@manutdadex: fortran is still very much useful and still in use today for numerical computing and high performance computing. It is still the best language for solving and modeling scientific and mathematical problems very accurately. The only disadvantage of fortran is that it cannot be used for developing applications, rather it is used for problem solving. U can google to find out more.

Let all stakeholders submit their contributions. Let public opinion be used pls. The embarrassment Hnd holders face in Nigeria is too much.

Hndholder:
In the Holy book, the world rejected Jesus (YISA) and embrace Barnabers known to be useless to progress. Degree holders are now doing the work once described as middle level job. Everything about our life now come from CHINA. We need to fight back.Polytechnics have made a name for themselves by providing sound, relevant and affordable education. They are best known for preparing students for industry with a wide range of diploma programmes which take between one and three years of full-time study to complete ND.
Polytechnic graduates are considered well-equipped and ready to support the technological and economic development. Today, polytechnic graduates are valued as practical-oriented and knowledgeable professionals, much sought after by industry.
I join every body to reject HND and support the call to cancel polytechnic if the government chose to do that.
I also support the abolishment of polytechnic education in Nigeria if the discrimination cannot be stopped.

EducationRe: Why The Discrimination Between Hnd Holders And Bsc Holders by zebra(m):
Hndholder:
It is so bad to see our university graduates searching for job. People that do not have reasons to go to university had degrees because of discriminations. Polytechnic was not designed for the weak. Nigeria do not want Polytechnic education.
The most painful part of it is that most of the law makers including David Mark do not know the purpose for which polytechnics were established. Some of them were saying that polytechnics were running courses that are not science and technology related like accounting and business. They don't even know that the act that establised polytechnics in Nigeria empowered them to run courses in science, technology and business related fields. We are waiting for the outcome of public opinion.

That's some good news. We hope the bill will eventually become a law. There is also a case in the Industrial Court on the issue.
The thing narrowly scaled through. Even David Mark himself that knows nothing about education was against it. He only used style to refer it to senate committee on education and public opinion.
EducationRe: Why The Discrimination Between Hnd Holders And Bsc Holders by zebra(m): 5:55pm On Oct 22, 2014
The issue scaled for second reading in the house of senate today.

i pray the govt settles the issue. It's really killing Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Military Unleashes Full Weaponry Against Boko Haram (pics) by zebra(m): 3:16pm On Oct 13, 2014
We have all these and yet still find it hard to conquer boko haram? Officers and enlisted soldiers are killed daily like chicken. I've lost 5 of my good officer friends there. Let the govt stop playing politics with this boko haram issue and declare total war on them. Even during the Nigerian civil war, officers were not killed like this.

bukit05:
Cramming has been working for me since d days of Elijah. Pple who claim to read and understand ask dem dt same question after exam, dey won't be able to say anytin
Not true. People who read to understand can explain and apply concepts outside the words/notes/handouts of the lecturers because they consult other books for more understanding, while those that cram can give u the lecturers notes/handouts word for word butwill not be able to attempt questions outside that scope because of their limited understanding. They only dwell on the lecturer's notes/handouts and hence find it difficult to attend to applied questions from other sources. They can get good grades especially from lecturers who love students giving them their exact words. Cramming is only helpful on topics or things that are not applied like theorems and proofs. I read M&S and i'm talking from experience. Both methods are actually useful to students.

Ayatullah:

VIOLENCE BEGETS VIOLENCE

I do not support 'Boko Haram' violence, yet I will not condone or accept any justification of extra-judicial killing of my fellow human beigns. Have you also watched on YouTube at the onset of this 'Boko Haram' insurgency where some so-called members of the 'Boko Haram' were made to lie down and sprayed with bullets with a Police Officer saying HE NEEDS THE HEART of one of the boys or have you watched the recent video released by the International Human right group showing soldiers slaughtering human beings?
your name has said it all. U're a sympathizer of boko haram. U're even justifying d brutal manner in which BH slaughter humans like rams. Any right thinking person should condemn d actions of BH and not helping them to justify their inhumanity to man.

EducationRe: Why The Discrimination Between Hnd Holders And Bsc Holders by zebra(m): 6:32pm On Oct 05, 2014
I still maintain that HND holders are technically and theoretically better than Bsc holders. HND holders sit and write exams for some of them, HND holders do practical and theoretical projects for them, HND holders lecture them in tutorials and other professional exams (i'm a living witness to these). Why then the feelings that the HND is lower than the Bsc?
EducationRe: Can Cramming Affect One's Performance After School? by zebra(m): 6:20pm On Oct 04, 2014
It depends on the course. If u're doing maths or stats there are some proofs that need to be crammed. No matter how hard u try to understand them they are always difficult to grab probably because of limited time.
