manutdadex:fortran for applications development is poor, but for high performance computing and scientific computing is excellent. I don't think there is a better alternative for these purposes. |
Let all polytechnic stakeholders come out in mass whether physically or online and support the removal of this discrimination. If the Nigerian HND is not equivalent to a Bsc how comes it is respected by many european countries and the US and its holders are given direct masters admission without going thru the PGD route? That's a good question to ask. |
manutdadex:All these were either developed from fortran or related to fortran. |
@manutdadex: fortran is still very much useful and still in use today for numerical computing and high performance computing. It is still the best language for solving and modeling scientific and mathematical problems very accurately. The only disadvantage of fortran is that it cannot be used for developing applications, rather it is used for problem solving. U can google to find out more. |
What kind of software are we talking about here? Application software or Operating system software? Well, let's try it and see. #TeamMicrosoftandIBMsoftware# |
Let all stakeholders submit their contributions. Let public opinion be used pls. The embarrassment Hnd holders face in Nigeria is too much. |
Hndholder:I also support the abolishment of polytechnic education in Nigeria if the discrimination cannot be stopped. |
Chucks08:yes o, and u can always work for urself as a consultant statistician providing statistical support and training for researchers. |
Hndholder:God will see us through, amen. |
Statistics |
Hndholder:The most painful part of it is that most of the law makers including David Mark do not know the purpose for which polytechnics were established. Some of them were saying that polytechnics were running courses that are not science and technology related like accounting and business. They don't even know that the act that establised polytechnics in Nigeria empowered them to run courses in science, technology and business related fields. We are waiting for the outcome of public opinion. |
kayusbrown:The thing narrowly scaled through. Even David Mark himself that knows nothing about education was against it. He only used style to refer it to senate committee on education and public opinion. |
The issue scaled for second reading in the house of senate today. |
Hndholder:i pray the govt settles the issue. It's really killing Nigeria. |
We have all these and yet still find it hard to conquer boko haram? Officers and enlisted soldiers are killed daily like chicken. I've lost 5 of my good officer friends there. Let the govt stop playing politics with this boko haram issue and declare total war on them. Even during the Nigerian civil war, officers were not killed like this. |
bukit05:Not true. People who read to understand can explain and apply concepts outside the words/notes/handouts of the lecturers because they consult other books for more understanding, while those that cram can give u the lecturers notes/handouts word for word butwill not be able to attempt questions outside that scope because of their limited understanding. They only dwell on the lecturer's notes/handouts and hence find it difficult to attend to applied questions from other sources. They can get good grades especially from lecturers who love students giving them their exact words. Cramming is only helpful on topics or things that are not applied like theorems and proofs. I read M&S and i'm talking from experience. Both methods are actually useful to students. |
olupentane:Try google. |
Ayatullah:your name has said it all. U're a sympathizer of boko haram. U're even justifying d brutal manner in which BH slaughter humans like rams. Any right thinking person should condemn d actions of BH and not helping them to justify their inhumanity to man. |
olayinka63:She's indirectly asking for a refund with interest. |
N400,000? Is it not too much for renovating a classroom? Abi na hall or new school she build? |
smada13:yes, the same way they killed our NAF pilot. Those guys don't deserve mercy. |
I still maintain that HND holders are technically and theoretically better than Bsc holders. HND holders sit and write exams for some of them, HND holders do practical and theoretical projects for them, HND holders lecture them in tutorials and other professional exams (i'm a living witness to these). Why then the feelings that the HND is lower than the Bsc? |
It depends on the course. If u're doing maths or stats there are some proofs that need to be crammed. No matter how hard u try to understand them they are always difficult to grab probably because of limited time. |
VocalWalls: In uniport, its human kinetics... aka jumpology.is that what PEJ read in UNIPORT? |
didadavid: Your story is rather touching...It must be a hard one on you, especially the aspect of raising the kids. You will, if you search thoroughly find a better soulmate. May the lord keep you and the kids.Thanx broda. It's really bin hard 4 me with d kids but i have no choice. She doesn't even care about dem again. I'm looking up to God for things to change in my favor. |
Cashnote: The bill of chattered statisticians of Nigeria in progress.May it scale thru in Jesus' name, amen. |
didadavid: Eeeyaaah, am sorry o. What is this world turning into? My neighbor too just separated from his wife. Are you guys still living together? No. She packed out of my house with her own hands exactly one year ago becos of the guilt even though i told her she's bin 4given. I and our 2 kids live together while she lives alone in her own house. |
didadavid: Divorce everywhere. Meanwhile Anita Oyakhilome’s name & pic totally removed from Rhapsody of Realities of October. Read that one Herei'm passing thru same too. My wife has been unfaithful, when we discovered (caught her red handed) she decided to file for a divorce. My Lawyer has responded to her sha. |
Cashnote: Thanx alot for d information...are u an M.sc holder in statistics?not really. I have a pgd in statistics but do most of the analyses for msc and PhD students in various fields. |
Cashnote: Thanx...what of d banking and industrial sectors?statisticians are employed mostly to provide statistical support in research. They work in banks and all types of industries. I worked in d bank but not in the capacity of a statistician. Banks employ graduates from all manner of disciplines to work for them to just achieve good profit. |
Cashnote: Pls...is getting a job as a statistician difficult? Cos my pals tel me dat economics has overwhelmed it.it's true. Let them try getting jobs in the health and pharmaceutical sectors, economists are not relevant there. |
