Try and be a chartered statistician. For now there is no functional statistical body in Nigeria that can make u certified or chartered in statistics. Join the Royal Statistical Society (RSS) of the UK. U can google it to see what it takes to join.

There are no jobs for mathematician, statisticians, and actuarial scientists in nigeria. Let's get tips from professionals on how mathematicians/statisticians, and actuarial scientists can create jobs for themselves.

kaka22: @zebra...I disagree with what u said. We must invest heavily in pry, secondary and tertiary education... In pry and secondary schools, students are only taught the basics. It is only when u get tertiary education that u will be taught more than the basics I.e a place where u can be mentally emancipated so if we can invest heavily in pry, secondary and tertiary education, boko haram will become thing of the past... Also, there should be employment opportunities
Do we have good basic education in Nigeria?

[quote author=kak It should be noted that before we can overcome the menace posed by boko haram, we must invest heavily in educational sectors so as eliminate recruiting ground of boko haram... I rest my case for now[/quote] Yes, we must invest heavily in education and not university education. Education at the primary and secondary levels are what need urgent funding and equipments. U must build a solid foundation before the walls and roof of a building can be firm.

berem: ASUU is not the only problem facing Nigeria but funding education should be of great concern. You cannot pretend to deny the fact that there's an absolute rot and decay in the education sector. If ASUU makes a demand to restore back the sector, why should they be denied of their demands? FG has the money so they should pay it.An agreement is always an agreement!
It is not just the university sub-sector alone that needs to be improved, it is the educational sector as a whole from primary to university. Can't we also see that even goverment owned primary schools, secondary schools, technical/vocational colleges, polytechnics, colleges of education, colleges of agric, etc all need this funding and attention ASUU are asking for? Or they think government owned primary and secondary schools are well funded and equipped? Teachers in the primary and secondary schools should be the ones asking for better funding and equipments more than those at the tertiary level. Greed has entered into the minds of ASUU members. Pls let's be frank with ourselves, between the primary/secondary schools and the tertiary schools, who need bettter funding and equipments? No matter how beautiful a building is, it is rubbish if it's foundation is weak and sinking. Let government concentrate more on making the foundation ok than the body of the building. I'm saying nigerian universities churn out half-baked graduates as a result of the rubbish students recieved at the basic level. China, japan, malaysia, brazil, to mention a few did not develop because they invested more on university education, but because they paid more attention to basic education, and technical/vocational education. Government should be bold enough to tell ASUU this.

Nizstephen: ok so how do I go about it in the best way if I wanna go 4 a masters in research and statistical analyses wat will it be called asin would it be information research or what?
U can do the Msc Statistics, which is also theoretical. U can from there begin to apply statistical methods to solving real life problems and in supporting research in the scientific, business, marketing, economic, political, social and biotechnology fields. Most applied statisticians work with researchers where they provide statistical support in form of designing experiments and analysing high dimensional data/interpretation of results.

Why not just stick to research and statistical analyses? It's more applied than computational statistics. Computational statistics is more of theory. U spend all ur time developing/writing statistical algorithms.

Am still thinking of more things to embark on when I graduate, but major areas 4 now are *computational statistics and *information research
Good! Try and be a research/statistical analyst so that u can work with other scientists in the area of experimental design and analyses.

Hero10001: O Kafanchan City! my sweet Play-ground!!
Why na??
I served (NYSC) 2011/12 in Kagoro area of South Kaduna which is a few km from Kafanchan,.

I can confirm that the major problem there is caused by HAUSA-FULANI men cos
South Kaduna including Kafanchan is a full-Christian area.
However, I enjoyed my service year in there; (Lagos boy na)
"Dog meat" on mondays@ Mallagun. Bussa drink on Tuesdays@ Samaru. Burukutu and Palm-wine on wednesdays after CDS,@ Tum.
Pork meat on Thursdays@ Tunga.
Night-Clubbing on Fridays@ New-world hotels.
Sundays?!! Winners Chapel@ Kagoro.

There are security men at every junction(ARMY n Police)
but there's always tension of FULANI-HAUSA men arriving anytime through the bushes.
We normally sleep with "one eye open" and always good to go in a 7/7 dressing(not like Lagos otondos)..
I always move around with My lagos fares cos e fit happen anytime.
I thank God i came back to Lag safely.
Dunno when to visit North again.
Anyways R.i.p to the dead..
na wa 4 u.

Archmed: This fight needs to be fought once and for all.The insensitivity of dis government to d masses' plight is outta this world!! People need to see reasons ASUU's way!!
I fail to see reasons with ASUU. Most of our nigerian lecturers are unproductive. If they are that good and productive we ought to have been seeing the results. It's high time the govt stopped pallying with them. They can bring down the economy of nigeria to the lowest level with their demands. What about the foundations, i mean primary and secondary school teachers? Are these schools not also lacking equipments? Between the foundation and roof of a building, which should we pay more attention to? A beg make ASUU let nigerians hear word jo. Imagine lecturers complaining of obsolete equipments and facilities in the universities when they themselves have obsolete knowledge, and have refused to update their brains with modern knowledge and ideas. In the Uk, US, and other countries lecturers especially Doctors and Profs earn the bulk of their pay through consultancy services they provide to govt and private sector and not by relying or holding govt to ransome. Good Doctors and Profs see beyond the salaries they earn from lecturing/teaching.

Maybeyou should google it. Or check Wikipedia. No time to educate
I just used Google now and wikipedia is saying that kwara state was one of the states that was created out of the defunct northern region by Gen. Gowon, along side benue-plateau state, kano state, north central state, north east state, north west state in 1967. Thank u sir.

Besides, Kwara was part of western Nigeria during Regionalism....before they splitted everywhere in Geopolitical zones whatever! @poster: Bros i disagree with this part of ur epistle. U may need to read ur history and geography books again. The area called KWARA state today has always been part of the north. Even when nigeria had just 3 regions, kwara was in the northern region.
Politics / Re: CAN Gives Kwara 7-day Ultimatum To Redress Discrimination Against Christians by zebra(m): 12:51pm On Sep 12, 2013
micdmic: sorry for Nigeria.kwara state is divided into central, north and south, central is 99.9% muslim, north is 99.9%muslim and south is 80%muslim,so from d percentage you can see that kwara is a muslim dominated state,so i think d government is more than fair in the appointments given to non muslim.are the muslims complaining in Ekiti, they shouldn't cos they know its a christian dominated state,so CAN should please leave Kwara out of this.Kwara is a state that respects every religion.
Take it easy with ur statistics. Even muslim dominated countries like syria, egypt, saudi arabia, iraq etc. would not make such claims. Pls reduce the figure small; 99.9% is not ok here.

anex4real: No you are wrong seventy percent of kwara state are yorubas am from kwara so I know.
It still doesn't change the fact that kwara state is in the north central, and a member state of the 19 northern states. Past and present governors have been very active members of northern governors forum. Or does kwara state governor attend south-west governors forum meeting? The state from what i know comprises of the yoruba tribe as majority, and other smaller tribes like bussa, gambari and fulani.
