Business / Re: $300M BUA Sugar Factory In Kwara Is Nearing Completion. PHOTOS by Zeusd3(m): 6:42am On Nov 27, 2019
OkCornel:

This my friend is the right question to ask. Hopefully this would have some positive effect on the value chain for home grown sugar cane in the long run.

BUA could;
1) Lease hectares of land and grow sugar cane en masse

2) Foster backward linkage with farmers and other small to medium scale farms to augment existing supply.

3) In the long run, consider production of ethanol as biofuel.

Overall ripple effects... more jobs and forex savings.

Anyways, time will tell.

The project is sitting on a 20,000 hectare of sugar cane plantation

In all fairness, I acknowledge the fears of pro-tithers even though it's not done as God instructed them to. I also consider the fact that there are some of them who sincerely give unto the promotion of God's work.

I want to make the following clear:

1) I am not against giving unto God's work. I am against preaching false doctrines on tithing and threatening people with a causeless curse for not paying up!

2) Give unto God and man with a cheerful heart and with the leading of the Holy Spirit.

3) Frankly speaking, the God I serve did not use money to create heaven and earth...and I find insulting when people think God's work will come to a grinding halt due to lack of money. God isn't limited to money i.e tithes and offerings included.

4) Jesus has given us a better model of sacrificial giving as outlined in Matthew 25 v 31-46, and it's not pegged at 10% of crops and livestock... rather it's more flexible and it demands way more than 10% of your money or time.

Nice piece but can ask you these questions;
How did God instructed us to give?.... Because I read Jesus said YES to tithing.....

Is it not humans that God would raise to give for his work Abi would he send angels...

And all my years of reading the bible..... N other books alike.... When has giving stopped being a form of worship.....

A man on Facebook updated this information about a man throwing refuse in the drainage in Lagos...

Foreign Affairs / The Beginner's Guide To The French Elections by Zeusd3(m): 1:02pm On May 07, 2017
By Doug Criss, CNN
Illustrations: Alberto Mier and India Hayes, CNN

(CNN)France is about to pick a new president. C'est bien, you say, but you're still recovering from the tectonic shifts of 2016. (Brexit! Trump!) You really should pay attention, though. One of Europe's most important countries will end up being run either by a far-right leader, Marine Le Pen, or someone who's never held elected office, centrist Emmanuel Macron. Either way, the result will ripple across the globe.

Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming vote.
Why should you care?
If you're in the EU:

The EU already has its hands full dealing with its impending divorce from the UK. Le Pen has vowed to pull France out of the EU too. Could the 28-nation group survive the loss of two of its richest and most populous members? Probably not. "A French government that abandons the euro would be a far greater political shock than Britain leaving the EU," two analysts say.
If you're in the US:

There's a real feeling brewing that this presidential election, just like America's, could bring instability. One political observer says the French "have had enough of the left and right" and that "they want to throw the table over." In fact, voters have already done that -- a first round of votes in April whittled down 11 candidates to two, and the pair left standing comes from outside the political establishment. No matter who wins, a new style of governance is on the way. Americans who have been watching the French election may have noticed a whole host of truly frightening similarities with the US poll: underwhelming and alarming candidates, allegations of corruption, and gaffes. So many gaffes.
If you're anywhere else in the world:

See above how everyone hates too much change in the world. Also, anyone in a war-torn country in the Mideast or Africa casting a glance to France as a haven might find the door slamming shut. Immigration, especially from Islamic countries, has been a hot-button issue in this election, and Le Pen wants to temporarily ban even legal immigration.
If you're into the markets:

The two leading candidates have very different economic visions. Le Pen wants France to dump the euro and protect French jobs, while Macron is a champion of closer European integration. Markets hate, hate, hate volatility. Look at how they reacted after the Greek elections in 2012. With the UK leaving the EU, France is the No. 2 economic powerhouse. And a change there will affect markets.
How does this work?

Voters went to the polls on April 23 for round one, sending Le Pen and Macron to face-off in the second and final round Sunday. Yes, it's a two-step process. That's different from the US where a presidential candidate's fate ultimately rests on one day. (But it sure drags on and on to get there). And it's very different from, say, Indian state elections that are staggered over five weeks.
Marine Le Pen

Who she is: She's the leader of the far-right National Front party. She's controversial, mainly because of her party's history of xenophobia and anti-Semitism. She's tried to soften the party's image, to middling success. In April, for instance, she said France was not responsible for the wartime roundup of Jews who were sent to Nazi death camps. That didn't go over well.
What she wants: She wants France out of both the EU and NATO. She wants to slash immigration to just 10,000 "entries" per year. She decries globalization and has vowed to fight "radical Islam." Sounds familiar? If she wins, she becomes the first far-right president elected in the EU's history.
Fun fact: After law school, Le Pen worked as a public defender and sometimes defended ... illegal immigrants.
Shocking fact: At age 8, Le Pen survived a bombing that destroyed her family's apartment. The attackers were trying to get her dad, who founded the National Front.
Emmanuel Macron

Who he is: He's the biggest surprise in this election. He's a centrist whom no one really took seriously at first. He didn't have the backing of any of the major political parties, so he formed his own, En Marche! movement. And -- surprise -- he made it past round one as well.
What he wants: He backs liberal, yet business-friendly measures, to boost the economy. He wants to increase defense and police spending. He wants better pay for teachers and unity at a time where France is riven with fractures.
Fun fact: As a 17 year old, he told his high school teacher that he'd marry her one day. And he did.
What are the major issues?
The economy

France is in the economic doldrums. Unemployment's at 10% and GDP growth is weak. Both candidates agree that France needs a shock to the system. Macron, a former banker who served as economy minister, has argued that France can become more competitive if it embraces globalization and doubles down on free trade. Le Pen, meanwhile, represents a radical departure from the status quo in France. She advocates a strident brand of economic nationalism that could mean new trade barriers and the country's exit from the eurozone.
Immigration

This is the biggie. It's what's driving everything else in this election. Many voters think current immigration policies have worsened France's unemployment problems and contributed to the deadly terror attacks over the past couple of years. And, as in many parts of Europe, the far right is riding the issue to popularity in the polls.
Controversies

SO MANY.
In the first round, the wife and two adult children of Republican candidate Francois Fillon were accused of earning more than $1 million for parliamentary assistant jobs they allegedly never showed up for.
Le Pen posted violent images of killings by ISIS on Twitter (a no-no in France). The European Parliament said she could be prosecuted for her actions.
Macron had to apologize for condemning France's colonial past in Algeria and dismiss talk of an alleged affair.
In a final televised debate Wednesday, Le Pen claimed Macron may have an offshore account in the Bahamas. The Paris prosecutor has opened a preliminary investigation after Macron filed a complaint against Le Pen over the comments.
So, who has a real shot of winning?

A number of polls released this month suggest that Macron, a pro-European centrist, leads the far-right Le Pen by about 20 points. Analysts predict left-wing and conservative voters -- repulsed by the thought of the leader of the National Front running the country -- will rally to him. But remember, right up to election night in the US last year, no one gave Donald Trump much of a chance either, and now we call him Mr. President.
What happens after the election?

For France
We look forward to June when the country holds parliamentary elections. A recent poll by OpinionWay-SLPV Analytics for the Les Echos newspaper shows that Macron's En Marche! would win the largest share of Parliament's 577 seats. The survey -- the only poll so far -- looked at 535 of the seats, so an outright majority could also be on the cards. That would mark a meteoric rise for the fledgling party that launched less than a year ago.
In France, a lot of the heavy lifting in government is done by the prime minister, and the prime minister comes from the party that holds the majority in parliament. So, no matter who's president, he or she can't accomplish squat if their party doesn't win a chunk of seats in the parliament. In other words, the high-stakes drama doesn't end when this election does.

For the rest of Europe
We look forward to September when Germany holds elections. Chancellor Angela Merkel -- who many now consider the most powerful woman in the world -- faces the real possibility of defeat, hit hard for her open-door policy on refugees. She's been in power for an astonishing 11 years, and she herself has admitted that her immigration policy has hurt her party

deleSayo:
Since I married my wife, we noticed signs subtle signs that my family dont like her.

From day one of introducing her to the family, my elder brother's wife treated her with so much disrespect and everyone else followed suit. We ignored this and proceeded to marry.

For trad wedding, I gave money to my parents to help purchase the items for her bride price but on the day,  I was pained to see that the items were significantly incomplete (my wife noticed this too and kept it in her heart). She later told me that she saw my parents looking bored at the church wedding;as if they couldnt wait to leave. I was surprised because I saw that too but thought my wife hadn't noticed.

When we fell pregnant, they failed to acknowledge my wife's pregnancy throughout until the birth of the baby. Furthermore, my mother failed to show up for omugwo, leaving us alone to care for the newborn child.

All these things have built up resentment in my wife. She takes out the frustration on me. Things are so bad that my wife has completely isolated herself from all members of my family. She refuses to communicate with them or attend any functions.

Recently, I got wind that she is making secret plans to abscond with our baby and go live with her mother who is based abroad. Please I dont want to lose my wife. She's the best thing that ever happened to me but I can see clearly that she now despises both me and my family.

The marriage is in shambles. She believes that I failed to defend and protect her. not that I didnt feel the pain. Its just that I didnt know how to handle the situation. Please how can I resolve this?

Take a stand.... It is either your family accepts her or loss you...... Till they accept you cut all communication with them.. yes cos if they can't respect ya decision that means they don't see you as man enough.... Show drastic actions like talk anybody and everybody that stands against her.... Call a family meeting and tell them all that anybody who wouldn't respect your wife should stay away from your home and stop even calling your phone.... Tell them if you die any day no one of them should come close your grave because you would torment them for causing your dead..... Your wife must see who you stand with .... She have endured enough n you can attest to that....

Christianity and churches in Nigeria is comdey

what could be more funny than a Nigerian believing the son of a Jewish folklore carpenter killed in a small Israeli village 2000 years ago died for their sins when the Jews themselves don't buy that?

do these people know that there are far more Muslims and Judaism adherents in Israel than there are Christians?

The religious affiliation of the Israeli population as of 2011 was 75.4% Judaism, 16.9%
Muslim , 2.1% Christian , and 1.7% Druze , with the remaining 4.0% belonging to minor faiths such as Samaritanism, Baha'iism or no religion

these are people whose ancestors lived during the time and saw this Jesus live and die but they don't believe he was dying for them

but a Nigerian read from a book and concluded that the Jews are wrong because logic favours storytelling over experiencing something, Amirite you must know Goodluck Jonathan more than the people living with and around him because you read newspapers and check internet for news about him

just try to imagine how funny its gonna sound if you travel to the US and see most Americans worshipping Murtala Mohammed, saying he died for them grin

every Nigerian Christian is a comedian tongue

Politics / Happy Protest Day Nigeria by Zeusd3(m): 11:05am On Feb 07, 2017
Congratulations on the protest carried out today both by those against this regime and those in support. I know that things are hard but I don't want anybody to confuse you the more and burry you in the rubble of wailing.

Now this is the matter. Even when there was subsidy, it was not sold at subsidized rate and it was not even available for you to buy and yet we were in oil boom. In the last 16 years, this last Christmas was the first where there was no scarcity and unnecessary sufferings arising From long cues and criminal activities of oil cabals.

It has been long since subsidy was removed and price regulations reinforced. After that there was no impact transport hick and inflation because the price wasn't any different from what it was under the criminal subsidy regime. But as time went on prices of goods started rising because of other factors.

It is simple economics, when demand is higher than supply there is scarcity and when there is scarcity prices will rise.

There is scarcity because we were not producing; not electricity, not clothing and not even what we eat. Your country has been an import dependent nation and the source of funding our deplorable appetite for foreign goods has been oil. Unfortunately oil price is down and the PDP sponsored Niger Delta Avengers has bombed the quantity supply to an abysmal low level. Nigeria can't even meet of up with its OPEC quota talkless of drilling more. Now that there is no oil dollars to satisfy our appetite you crying foul.

And by the way, many of those who were clapping for Avengers and who were happy because pipelines were going up in flames, you did because your hero lost election and you wanted Buhari to fail so that you can say: I told you he will not succeed.

Unfortunately, the evil that you clapped for is coming to eat you raw. You are lazy and unproductive and the only source from which Government was subsidizing your unproductive and luxurious appetite for foreign is comatose.

In addition, when Boko Haram was killing and maiming in the North East, one of the few regions in Nigeria that still produces agricultural products you said it wasn't your concern. Today, not only are there over 30 million people and farmers displaced in that region, now Nigerian government also have the burden to feed them and secure their region. It is not your concern but today it affecting the price of food and you are complaining.

Buhari does not print dollars and Nigeria does not have enough to continue to import to satisfy your appetite for foreign goods. You better make do with what you have or start thinking of what you can produce. At least if Government cannot earn dollars you can export whatever you produce and earn your dollars to buy any foreign goods of your choice.

And let me tell you the reality, the era of oil boom is over. The world is moving away from fossil fuel and we are never ever going to get the oil groove back again.

You have protested, it is now your responsibility to put food on your table and that of your family. Spend your energy, plan and strategize on what you are going to do next. Even if Buhari leaves office today, the situation will not change until you and I become productive, until we can feed ourselves with what we produce, deploy our technology and export our products.

The reality is here, Murphy's laws are setting in. Even America under Donald Trump is running from globalization. Everybody is trying to protect the little they have and build their economy. From Britain to France, America to Germany, the story is the same.

No amount of complaints can solve this. You have to be solution based in your approach, you need to be positive minded and you need to fit into a product line that is in demand.

Unfortunately, why many of the wailings are coming from those who have the opportunity to take advantage of the situation those who should have been the ones crying are silently taking advantage of this policies of Buhari. Whiles Politicians are sending you on wide goose chase they using the heat you are generating to fight the government so that they take over power.

Many rich people in Nigeria have gone into agriculture. Whiles you are shouting about scarcity of food and price of luxury cars they are positioning to make profit from you after you have protested and you return home looking for food. The likes of Dangote, ibeto, Uche Ogah and many others have gone into agriculture.

Even coscharix that used to import high profile foreign cars which you have been dreaming to buy to prove that you are also a big boy has gone into agriculture. He sacked many of his staff who used to sale cars to you at 100 million Naira and he is divesting massively into agriculture.

If care is not taken, you will be in the league of new poverty stricken people unless you use your brain now. These people are just distracting you and you are swallowing it hook line and sinker.

I am not saying you should not complain or protest. But bear it mind that Buhari means well but he will not feed your family. Think of what you can do, I am also restrategizing to face the new realties. They are global in nature and they also come with their own opportunities.

Great Imo Jonathan.
Health / Breakthrough: Michael Okpara Varsity Discovers Cure For HIV/AIDS by Zeusd3(m): 5:15pm On Feb 02, 2017
Prof. Francis Otunta, the Vice Chancellor (VC), Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, in Abia, has confirmed the discovery of a new drug for the treatment and cure of HIV/AIDS. Otunta told newsmen at the university campus on Wednesday that the finding followed years of scientific research by the institution.

He said that the breakthrough was made by Prof. Maduike Ezeibe, a researcher in the university. According to him, Ezeibe had presented the drug to the University management, Senate and Council, where he explained the processes he went through to arrive at his finding.

The VC also said that Ezeibe had equally presented the drug to his colleagues in the medical field and nobody had contradicted his finding. “Prof. Ezeibe is a researcher in Veterinary Medicine and one may wonder how he discovered a drug to cure a human ailment,” he said. He commended Ezeibe for the breakthrough, saying: “He has brought honour to the University and we are proud of him.” Otunta said that the university was in the process of mass producing the drug for further clinical trials on persons living with HIV/AIDS in the country. Ezeibe, who is a professor of Veterinary Medicine and Clinical Virology, said that the drug was produced with Aluminum Silicate and Magnesium Silicate (Synthetic Aluminum-Magnesium Silicate). He said that the two minerals “are already in use as medicines for the treatment of various animal and human diseases”. He said that 10 persons living with the disease, “who volunteered’’, were made to apply through their doctor to the VC. “They were treated daily with the Medicinal Synthetic Aluminum-Magnesium Silicate (50 mg/kg),” he said. Ezeibe said that the volunteers were subjected to monthly tests for viral loads and CD4-lymphocyte counts. “With the antiviral effects of the medicine, its ability to reach all cells (as nanoparticles) and the lymphocytes, there is no more hiding place (sanctuary) for HIV,” he said. He said that the medicine had been used to potentiate Ampicilin, Chloroquine, Piperazine and Sulphadimidin, among others, and could be a major foreign exchange earner for Nigeria, if approved by relevant authorities. According to him, “local and international pharmaceutical companies would find the product as a veritable raw material”. Ezeibe said that he presented the research findings to the World Virology Conference in Atlanta in 2015, and Antonio (Texas) in 2016. Besides, he said that the results of the laboratory tests had been published in many international scientific journals, including the British Journal of Medicine and Medical Research, among several others.
