Nigeria has all it takes to be like Dubai, but due to useless leaders elected due to tribalism and religion has tendered the country completely useless.

How can Nigeria be Dubai when a single local government in some states is more populated than the whole UAE. It's an unfair comparison. They have resources to cater for a small population, we have the resources too but for a population with exponential power of theirs

Gosh!

I was just amazed as I saw the topic.

Why am I amazed?

This was exactly what I was pondering this evening, what food can I make that I will eat this night and tomorrow morning with 2k.

Afterwards, I was able to make Yam Porage.

"Tinubu don finish this Country kpatakpata".

What actually got me confused was when the CBN Governor said that his job is second to the most difficult job in the world.

Meaning the CBN Governor is actually finding that job very difficult, as a result, he has nothing to offer, we should not expect any fiscal or monetary policy in positivity.

No wonder the economy, naira, is floating like someone swimming with a life jacket.

You need to understand the basics which if Nigerians collectively do will have a positive impact instead of criticisms. The Naira being floated means the govt would no more borrow money to defend it giving it an artificial value.. It's now floating- the collective demand and supply forces of Nigerians determine it's value. Hence Nigerians must use more of Nigerian made goods instead of importing.. this will remove forex pressure and strengthen the Naira... tinubu floating the Naira is an opportunity to all Nigerians to step up and determine the value of currency and take matters into their hands by Patronisers of local goods .......

I repeat again, shame shame and more shame on people like you that have this myopic idea and spew nonsense about the Educational requirements of anyone that wants to lead a state or become a president in Nigeria.
Some of you are more dangerous than an illiterate, infact I query the kind of education you have.
Go back and read what you wrote,I assume we can decide to remove educational requirements since what's needed to lead the country is just skills.
Skills you develop while baking a cake,or working as a bricklayer, Infact I propose that a skillful bus driver should apply to become the president of Nigeria since we need only skills to rule Nigeria very well.
Shame on you, and the epistle you wrote trying to justify a Waec holder or diploma certificate holder ruling Nigeria.
There's a reason why minimum Educational qualification of Waec is a constitutional requirement to rule Nigeria, the people who put it there are not fools, all we are asking for is that it must be increased because of the amount of intellect it requires today to govern a country or even a state in Nigeria.
I ask you today, even companies like banks, Engineering companies require a minimum of a first degree to be employed,I wonder why any Nigerian will believe a country as big as Nigeria will require less educational requirement for an individual to be employed in a common bank than it takes to be employed as the President of Nigeria.
God bless Nigeria.....

God bless Nigeria, mind you I'm also going through my undergraduate degree in MBBS. So I have no reason to undermine education to suit my shortcomings in any way.

Constructively counter the points I outlined, not unnecessary back and forth marred by insults, this in a way proves why you need skill, emotional intelligence skill, more than that degree you are holding.
Buhari was no good I agree, but it has nothing to do educational qualifications. Now we have a Chicago graduate, how far?
Your opinion is retrogressive, go to developed countries or research people with high school certificate dominate their cooperate management, their government agencies and even professional Fields. We are not in industrial age to be programmed with needles academic jargons says Robert kiosaki a great american intellectual.

There are some news I read these days that always leave me very very very puzzled.
I'm sorry for the detour from the topic, but I read a news yesterday and my mind couldn't understand it,some Northern House of Representatives members opposed a bill seeking to amend the constitution to allow only Only B.sc and HND holders contest for election to the post of the President and Governors.
Shame on all any Nigerian that still believes a school certificate holder,or a diploma is enough qualification to rule Nigeria.
I repeat again shame, shame, shame, shame on these people.
A diploma will only get you a bank teller job in a bank,an entry of level 6 into the civil service, but these people feel that kind of certificate is enough to rule Nigeria.
Anyone that's intellectually lazy to accquire a HND or B.Sc should never ever be allowed to be a governor,President or even a legislator.
Do these people understand how intelligent a president must be, someone who has to read and form opinions from reports he/she will receive from the NSA,from the CBN,From the NNPCL,from more than 30 Ministers,I mean the President must have an opinion on everything going on in the country and in 2024,a Northern Representative feels a Waec certificate or diploma is enough, shame on these people.
We must tell these Northern Representative that don't have any shame to have this kind of opinion.
Infact Nigerian youths should form a hashtag and shame these Northerns who have this infantile opinion.
Back to the Topic,I believe this is the best time for President Tinubu to have the balls to scatter and restructure Nigeria,he must quickly use these hard times to quickly restructure Nigeria.
Nigeria needs bold and quick reforms,I totally support this idea of a parliamentary system of government,I also read of the Minister of Power talking about State and Local Government having the license to generate and distribute power, that's another wonderful suggestions.
Infact the best time to introduce STATE and LOCAL POLICE is now, Asiwaju should use the excuse of No money In Nigeria to quickly restructure the country.
Nigerians are too hungry to protest especially those in the North.
God bless Nigeria

How many of the developed countries have highly educated presidents. You don't need degree to rule or be intelligent. Go to Canada most companies are only seeking skills and intelligence not degrees. Same thing with all developed countries. Most of what is taught in academics is jargons that you don't need in real life, this is the opinion of great intellectuals like Robert kiosaki, Brian Tracy etc. How much more in aspect of leadership. Someone with degree in physics, geology, linguistics, library science etc what is that they are taught in this schools that will be needed to apply in leadership. Infact advanced education limits potentials as it programs you to locked in thinking on some academic non practical jargons.

Your opinion reeks of the mindset of the industrial age, wake up, we are in a New age!!

Uncontrolled imports of foreign flora and fauna wrecked havoc on their local environment

For example, someone imported live rabbits to australia in the late 19th century. The rabbits multiplied and ate everything in their path.

Did i mention that the rabbits had zero predators.?

It cost the Australian government a lot of money to bring the situation under control.

Wow interesting, thank you. I also once heard they import a certain biologicaly important insect, which feeds on animal feaces to control dung waste. How true?

Ordinarily i would agree with you, but there is a reason why many countries forbid foreign foodstuff coming in

The foreign stuff may contain bacteria, parasites even insects that are not native to the country of destination and may cause havoc to thw country wildlife and even diseases to flora and fauna

Countries like Australia learned that lesson the hard way.

Politics / Re: Bayo Onanuga: Nigeria’s Wealth Overestimated, Country Very Poor by Zhunnurayn(m): 2:05pm On Feb 13
Ade3131:

Good question. The loans from China is priced between 3 to 7% for African countries including Nigeria with no strings attached, but those from IMF and world bank is priced between 15 to 35% to African countries with stringent clauses like removal of subsidy and local currency devaluation... Mind you, same IMF loans to Western countries are priced at about 1 to 4%.

Back to the 'whys' :

Most African leaders have resorted to borrowing from China to fund capital budgets and that doesn't board well with the Western powers.

So they force African leaders to take those loans with threats of strong consequences if they dare to object. And because most African leaders got to power with the support of external (western) government, they just have to comply. Failure to do so means that such government will be toppled and overthrown or his country thrown into chaos.

Another reason why African leaders take these loans is to further enhance their ability to loot unchecked and unnoticed. You only loot when there's surplus.

And when the terms of those loans are implemented in full, you'd be left in an unending loop of borrowing because by the end, your currency will be worthless and cost of governance will always be higher than your revenue. Remember that bulk of the revenue would have gone into loan repayments.

Thanks for shedding light. Now it was expected that with dangote refinery working, fuel will be cheap since it is domestically drilled and refined and that the naira too will gain value as it will relieve need for forex to import oil. But it was announced that Nigeria has sold it's oil in advance hence dangote refinery will still import crude.
So would the refinery operating have any positive impact on naira value and price of oil for now in that case
Politics / Re: Bayo Onanuga: Nigeria’s Wealth Overestimated, Country Very Poor by Zhunnurayn(m): 11:18am On Feb 13
Ade3131:

There's no truth in what he said. A poor country with the highest paid politicians in Africa and one of the best paid in the world.

We can't be as poor as he described and pay our politicians so handsomely. That's like saying a family is poor, yet they own a house and live in Ikoyi VGC, ride a bullet proof SUV, most of their kids school abroad, but someone somewhere tells you that they're a poor family.

A country with over 200 million population with most of them being youths are not poor. Don't let them sell that narrative to you.

The West are the ones dealing with us for trying to romance with China by using world bank and IMF loans to stiffen their hold on us and our economy. They force our leaders into collecting loans with crazy interest rates up to the point where our total revenue equals total cost of debts servicing.

Another thing they're doing is to use poverty and insecurity to keep our population in check. It is when you eat well and live in peace that you'd want to marry and give birth, but when the country is this hard, nobody will caution anybody to limit the number of kids they'd have.

With hyperinflation, how many people can afford to feed themselves, how much more feeding another grown up adult (wifes) and kids. Even if you can, security threats mean that you're either going to be a victim or you'll always watch your back. And in such situations, the chance of population explosion is minimal.

If you check our population growth between 1960 till date and use that data to forecast our growth in another 50 years if we continue to increase in numbers unchecked, baba, India and China might soon have us rivaling them in terms of population, and the resources used for catering to the needs of that much people is not readily available anywhere. So, their justification to use quasi-natural causes like hunger and insecurity as a tool to checkmate our growth appears understandable.

Bring it home and ask people around you how many kids they wish to have if the present inflation continues and let's hear their feedback.

The bad news is that there's no government official that'll come on air to tell you all these things. You have to use your tongue to count your teeth.

If Nigeria has money as you say, then why are we taking those debts grin
