FamilyRe: Caught Between Mother's Wish And Her Sibblings Want. by ZIMDRILL(m): 12:55pm On Sep 06, 2011
justin04:
I am resigned to the fact that at any moment my mother would pass away due to terminal and too weak cancer. She is currently in an hospice in US too weak to make a trip back to Nigeria. One of her last wishes she communicated to me and all her other kids is that all six children are in the US or have access to come to US, so she wants to be buried in the States. She has told everyone that is her wish including her siblings back in Nigeria. The pressure I am now facing as her first son is that I get calls daily from her sisters and brothers that I can't give in to her wish. They tell me I should respect the fact that they are her family too and they can't come to the States which means they can't attend the funeral. I have never went against the wish of my my mum but the pressure is so much that in this case I am confused. If the inevitable happens today, I will give in to her wish, I want to give her the last respect or wish. I should add, money to get her to Nigeria is not the issue. I need advise.
something is not right

those in nigeria know thats mum is sic and might die any time soon but they never bothered even to send one representive to see and talk to her before the lord takes her

Queen Elizabeth II has reigned for over five decades. The ''Head of state'' of the UK is the Queen, the chief of armed forces of the UK is the queen. These facts raises the question, is the UK a democracy? If the queen has reigned for over 50yrs, what moral right does she, the chief of armed forces of the UK, have to remove a 40yr ''dictator'' of another country in the name of democracy?I dont get it.I know there are knowledgeable people in the house who can give meaningful answers. please help.
poor you

for minute least forget about the queen

do UK hold elections for MPs and Prime minister ? yes they do thats democracy for you no one is killed or harassed for supporting the opposition

howmany prime minister have been there seen the queen came to the thrown where they hand picked by queen ? no elections were held and the people voted for them

the MPs are voted by the public are the ones who changes laws etc the queen has no right to change/making of the law

pliz dont show your igorance reseach if you are not sure of how the system of a certain country works

i always ask people, especially zimbabweans when we talk about ZANU (Mugabe's) and MDC (Tsvangirai) those who were born when mugabe came into power are now 31 years ---- and the question is ----- do you think that they will share the same vision with mugabe?

at the same time people in his party are old, most young who wanted to contest with old guys where killed or threatened with death

it is the same on libya 44 years --- meaning those born when he came to power are now 44 years would they share the same vision with him?

if we go back to basic reasoning for a family mum and daughter or father and son always have different visions over one subject

if you go back to history most absolute monachy suffered becoz of that

its high time those people go if there were holding elections or fair elections and being voted for then we would give them support

there is nothing like that on gaddaffi , on mugabe his party beat up people, forced to attend his party rallies and then rig elections

Our education system as failed in Nigeria!

There is no attempt to imbibe our students with a critical thinking and research culture.

Our ediots say anything that comes to mind without the slightest attempt at researching or equipping themselves with information.

They "passed" school doing that and cramming or bribing, hence they think that is the way to think.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland[note 5] (commonly known as the United Kingdom, the UK or Britain) is a sovereign state located off the north-western coast of continental Europe. The country includes the island of Great Britain, the north-eastern part of the island of Ireland and many smaller islands. Northern Ireland is the only part of the UK that shares a land border with another sovereign state—the Republic of Ireland. Apart from this land border the UK is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea, the English Channel and the Irish Sea.
The United Kingdom is a unitary state governed under a constitutional monarchy and a parliamentary system, with its seat of government in the capital city of London. It is a country in its own right[10][11] and consists of four countries: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.[12] There are three devolved national administrations, each with varying powers,[13][14] situated in Belfast, Cardiff and Edinburgh; the capitals of Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland respectively. Associated with the UK, but not constitutionally part of it, are three Crown

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitution_of_the_United_Kingdom

Constitutional monarchy
The United Kingdom is a constitutional monarchy: succession to the British throne is hereditary, governed by the principle of male preference primogeniture, but excludes those who are, or who marry, Roman Catholics.
Under the British Constitution, sweeping executive powers, known as the royal prerogative, are nominally vested in the Sovereign. In exercising these powers, however, the Sovereign normally defers to the advice of the Prime Minister or other ministers. This principle, which can be traced back to the Restoration, was most famously articulated by the Victorian writer Walter Bagehot as "the Queen reigns, but she does not rule".

SORRY TO SAY, BUT YOUR QUOTATION HAS NO BEARING WITH YOUR ARGUMENT! sECONDLY, IT IS RIDICULOUS TO ATTEMPT TO SEPERATE TNE RISE OF anc FROM THE FALL OF THE APARTHEID GOVERNMENT IN SOUTH AFRICA. wITHOUT THE GREAT SACRIFICES OF PPLE LIKE mANDELA (WHO WAS ONE OF THE FOUNDERS OF ANC) THE APATHEID REGIME WOULD HAVE PERSISTED TILL DATE. AND WITHOUT THE ASSISTANCE OF THE NIG GOVT, APARTHEID WOULD NOT HAVE DIED.
YOUR ARGUMENT IS THE VERY POSTION THAT MAKES OUR EFFORTS SEEM IN VAIN, your SYSTEMIC WAYS OF ATTEMPTING TO REWRITE A FALACIOUS HISTORICAL EVENTS
read again you find out that SA was actaully giving aid to other african countries, why would SA get aid from nigeria then at the same time it gives aid to more than 5 african countries

i dont deny the aid in financing political parties that fought the apartheid so learn to separate those two, like my own zimbabwe it never helped SA as government but it helped ANC, PAC etc (those are parties ) most ANC members were help by zim government in seeking refugee in zim --- in simple terms zimbabwe government helped ANC
Foreign AffairsRe: Nigeria Should Stop Playing "big Brother" To Other African Nations by ZIMDRILL(m): 11:59am On Aug 26, 2011
dont confuse people

nigeria never assisted south africa in financial aid during apatheid, yes assisted ANC or political parties in  the fight of democracy

learn to separate SA and ANC or other parties

Vorster's attitude towards other African countries was not so much a modification of strategy as a continuance of Verwoerd's approach. Vorster's forerunner had already become aware of the fact that cordial dealings with as many black states as possible was of paramount importance. As more and more African states acquired statehood from their colonial rulers, bitterness towards South African apatrheid system increased. If South Africa did not wish to become completely cut off from the rest of the African continent, she had to sustain gracious associations with it, starting, of course, with mutual economic support. Vorster persisted with this strategy and built good relationships with a number of independent African states.
In 1967, Vorster proffered technological and fiscal counsel gratis to any African state prepared to receive it, asserting that absolutely no political strings were attached. He gave great attention to financial facets, aware of the fact that many African states were very run-down and would require financial aid in spite of their rebuffing of South Africa's racial principles. Malawi and Lesotho were the first countries to enter discussions with the NP government. Angola and Mozambique soon followed.
One of the first steps to take in initiating dealings was to convene with the heads of these African countries. Here Vorster worked decidedly contrary to Verwoerd's policies. Where Verwoerd had declined to get together and engage in dialogue with such leaders as Abubakar Tafawa Balewa of Nigeria in 1962 and Kenneth Kaunda of Zambia in 1964, Vorster, in 1966, met with the heads of the states of Lesotho, Swaziland and Botswana. There was still mutual suspiciousness, however, particularly after Vorster's denunciation of the Lusaka Manifesto in 1969. Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland stayed candid critics of apartheid, but they hinged on South Africa's economic aid. This was inclusive of pecuniary credit and the fact that many natives from these states worked the South African mines.
Malawi was the first country not on South African borders to accept South African aid. She identified the monetary benefits of such a deal, for there were also many Malawians working in South African mines. In 1967, the two states delineated their political and economic relations, and, in 1969, Malawi became the only country at the assembly which did not sign the Lusaka Manifesto. In 1970, Malawian President Hastings Banda made his first and most successful official stopover in South Africa.
Associations with Mozambique followed suit and were sustained after that country won its sovereignty in 1975. Angola was also granted South African loans. Other countries which formed relationships with South Africa were Liberia, the Ivory Coast, Madagascar, Mauritius, Gabon, Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo), Ghana and the Central African Republic. These African states slammed apartheid (more than ever after South Africa's denunciation of the Lusaka Manifesto), but fiscal reliance on South Africa, together with fear of her armed potency, resulted in their forming the aforementioned ties.
Foreign AffairsRe: Have Libyans Made A Huge Mistake By Removing Gaddafi? by ZIMDRILL(m): 2:49pm On Aug 25, 2011
Nwanne D.:
This is an interesting topic. I think Libyans have been misled by US and Europe including NATO. The so called developed nations (US + Europe) over look their problems for only to interfere into other countries that have (GOD) - Gold, Oil and Diamond. US and England signed an oil deal for BP and SHELL for forty years with Gaddafi's predecessor and it expired during the regime of gaddafi and He refused to renew it. This is exactly what brought the hatred on Gaddafi. God will never forgive Us and England with their alides. That is why each week you hear one calamity or the other in these two nations. For the past three weeks shark has eaten two British nationals on holiday and honeymoon. Bear also ate a 17 year old boy on camp. They have destryed Libya and British children paid them back with riot and looting while hurricane and earthquake live with US. The war they caused in libya has not ended and NATO is telling the world that their action is not free. Who invited them? If their mission is for peace and to save civillians, why did they kill people and destoy properties? They have started taking oil already. If some minorities are complaining of Gaddafi's regime, are british people not complaining of David Cameroen. Are Americans not complaing of Obama? According to Gaddafi, if they said  he has stayed long in power and who ellected him, what about the Queen, she has stayed longer than Gaddafi and who ellected/appointed her? You cannot please everybody even Jesus Christ who died for our sins was hated by some groups and was later crucified.
I had a chat with a friend from Erithrea who once lived in Libya and he confirmed that Gaddafi is doing well and US and Europe can not subdue him so they instigated a group of people for this problem. He also confirmed that petrol is free once you have a car and other good things that follow. to be continued. (pls ignore my little mistakes and construction quality)
You need to go back to book and read more the  Queen has no power in british politics, read more about absolute monarchy and Constitutional monarchy

when was the last time libya had elections ? just remember those who were born the day he came to power are now 40 years old do you think they share the same vision ? thats the reason ABSOLUTE MONARCHY always end up having problems they fail to adjust with time and new generations

hence UK separated QUEEN/KING and daily runnings of country/politics

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitutional_monarchy

Most constitutional monarchies employ a parliamentary system in which the monarch may have strictly ceremonial duties or may have reserve powers, depending on the constitution. Under most modern constitutional monarchies there is also a prime minister who is the head of government and exercises effective political power.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absolute_monarchy

Absolute monarchy is a monarchical form of government in which the monarch exercises ultimate governing authority as head of state and head of government, his power not being limited by a constitution or by the law. An absolute monarch thus wields unrestricted political power over the sovereign state and its subject people. In an absolute monarchy, the transmission of power is twofold; hereditary and marital.[citation needed] Absolute monarchy differs from limited monarchy, in which the monarch’s authority is legally bound or restricted by a constitution.
