i'm a technician but i got a notebook from a user which requires installation of OS but since it has no cd rom and it doesn't detect external cd rom, i know there's a way to boot from the network and install OS but i do not know the process.

will be glad if you can help, or is there any other way to load windows on this machine?
note that there's no usb option on the BIOS setup otherwise i would have create a bootable flash drive and load windows from it.

i was browsing wt it and everytin suddenly freezed,i then off it to restart again bt it refused to come up. I went to the BIOS to diagnise d problem and it shows hard disk fail. I never dropped it or anytin on it.

You should do it and take it easy with Cisco. Mind you, the failure rate of 70-680 is high. The exam is a beast, I got exact 700 after changing few answers on the exam. I wouldn't have bothered to attempt it again if I'd failed. I just did it to test my knowledge.

Assuming, I'm a server person like you, I will just go for VCP4. That knowledge and certification will take you places and give you too much money.

I think you can upgrade your MCSA to MCITP-SA by writing 70-648 which is the server 2008 exams cos your are already a certified in 2003 server. But, if you want Enterprise Administrator designation, you need 3 exams. 

As per the the desktop technician, it is based on XP. For you to support windows 7, you need to write 70-680 and 70-685 to get MCITP - EDST 7.

Sorry man, you should take your time and do it at your own pace. If you can't get real gears for practising, you should try boson simulators. I'm writing 70-685 to get MCITP: ESDT before end of July and then looking at CISSP.

Lol, most peeps dont know you need the LAN adapter first. Anyway, Microsoft solved that problem with windows 7.

Further to what Zim stated above, you can back up your drivers before formatting. I always use Driver Genius(not free) or if you have an XP that have been slipstreamed with current drivers else you'd pull your hair out looking for compatible drivers.

I have this P4 desktop PC on my neck atm cuz it's my boss' pc and he had a power surge at home(according to him) which fried somethings in his house. He calls an electrician to check the power-pack(which is ATX with auxillary) and the guy tells him the power-pack is dead n gone. .so i went to Ikeja from VI to get a new power pack but on testing it with the new power-pack, the system refused to come on .

What could possibly be the problem?

It does shower that power gets to the board from the power-pack(LED Indicator on the motherboard) but just doesn't come on when i push the switch.

Could it be a dead motherboard or the switch itself? Or am i missing something?

As for the environment,its a normal environment for us all,hot sometimes and Cold other times,I presently reside in Kaduna,and the weather is kind of cool these days because of the rains. But i try as much as possible to keep the vent free by placing the Laptop on something to keep the vent free,but it still gets hot,does it need servicing?
it might need cleaning of the heat sink but only take it to qualified proffessional
Another thing is that the DVD ROM does not play any CD that is burnt or that was copied,it only recognizes original CD's,so how would i upgrade the OS? I have an external DVD drive,if I insert the windows 7 OS in the ext drive and run,would it work on the Laptop?
did you try different cd/dvds if there are burnt by one pc and the format or the playing back software is aint in your system they wont play also check if the driver for ROM is fine, which mediaplayer do you use for play back i.e windows mediaplayer, real player nero winamp etc?
As of today,the Laptop comes on and will not get to the part where the windows logo comes on screen,I tried using SAFE MODE but it gets to the Logo part and remains blank,I guess the Vista OS is corrupt now. here am now confused is it now not working? if not do you have the OS dics ? if you do change the boot sequence to cd/dvd and let us know what happens
Pls What do I do? I need to get the Laptop up and running asap.

I have a little problem with my HP DV2000 Laptop and I want to ask these questions:

1. The laptop runs slow sometimes so I want to format it and upgrade it from a Windows Vista to Windows 7,but I was told I would have to flash the BIOS,how true is it?

no need to flash your BIOS unless it is very neccesary vista is always low even with the good number of RAM also no need to format eg if its vista home basic and window 7 home you just do an upgrade

2.If i have to flash the BIOS,How do i go about it?
like i said not necessary

3. Would i need to reinstall the drivers if i upgrade it to a Windows 7?
yes on some but you might be lucky that some drivers will work with 7 beside you just go to hp website to get the drivers

4. The laptop becomes very hot after about 10-15mins of usage and the vent emits very hot air,and the fan is working,what could be the possible problem and what is a solution to it?.
how old is the pc and also how is the enviroment around it i.e dust can cover the heat sink and fail to cool properly

Aside the above listed probs,the laptop works fine. So please your advice and solution would be heavily appreciated.

Where can i buy the original battery for the DV2000 that would last for at least 3hrs and above. Would the battery for a DV6000 work well with it?

@ZIM DRILL, the 512MB RAM was removed and the 256MB RAM was used but the same problem was encountered. Do u think the problem may be 4rm the Processor?

Pls,i have a nc6000 Hp laptop of 40GB Hard disk, 1500MHz processor and a 256MB RAM which i added 512MB RAM to upgrade to 768MB RAM. It started to freeze/hang and prompting the mouse cursor to disappear.Everything freezes and so i have to SWITCH OFF the Laptop.Upon switching it back ON, it won't show anything on the screen but u'll hear the processor moving. But when i switch it back ON like say 20 minutes or more later, it boots and starts well and then freezes again soon after. Pls, what could be the cause? Help me pls.

I met this lady three years ago while i was in my final years. I got attracted to her, we became friends, months after, i proposed to her and we agreed to date. Despite this, our love grew in leaps and trillions.

Just on thursday, i was convinced to ask her if there is anything she would like to tell me about her past, she said she had told me all i need to know. I pressed her further and further, and she came with this BOMBSHELL; SHE ONCE HAD AN ABORTION.

Though she told me about a guy she dated before i met her, it was the guy who actually deflowered her. According to her, it was only once she did it and she has to call it quit with the guy immediately after the act. The guy came begging, but she refuses since she has taking advantage of her.

That sexual intercourse resulted into pregnancy which she aborted because she did not want to have anything to with her again.
Why did she hid this from me all this while?

yes, 3 techs confirmed that the motherboard is bad

When I put on my laptop, only the indicator lights come on. It doesnt boot. My hard drive doesnt rotate. I cant do anything with it not to talk of reversing it to the old one

was planning on changingthe motherboard before selling it cos it would have better market value than if i were to sell it as scraps.
And do you really think changing it to a different one would make it work?
Whot will d market value of the scrap be?
And as for the recall, think i have soiled my warranty by taking it to local technitians to look at it when i found out it would be difficult to send it over for repairs. Didnt know it would result in a motherboard fault and compromise the system.
