Truth is Sharia is an either or proposition. Truth about Sharia is that Sharia cannot co-exist with any other religion. They want to enforce Sharia everywhere in Nigeria. The question we should settle is - Is that possible?

If everyone has a twisted cowardly mentality like you, we will still be in the slave era. A selfish mentality...as long as am not affected. We are not doing this for fun, there is a serious problem with extremism in Nigeria, if you can't see this, then am sorry.
I am willing to take your insults if only I can help you understand the issues here. Facts clearly establish genocide against Christians in Nigeria. My take is do not make it worse by inciting Muslims to further violence as the Nigerian government is not inclined to doing anything about it. That is wisdom not cowardice. If you insist it is cowardice then your opinion remains yours.

You do not appear to understand the issue at stake. Muslims say that Islam prescribes Sharia for every space a Muslim lives and works in and every Muslim is obliged to ensure that. Is that possible in Nigeria as presently constituted? That is what we should be discussing. We should live and let live. Is that possible in Nigeria as presently constituted?

This type of mentality is what is fueling the extremism, and indoctrination of the vulnerable northern kids and teens. This is the same reason why there are so many killings...I think, the ire should be directed to bokoharam and iswap, who have really done a lot of damage...or to Trump who wants to come ablazing... freedom of speech, freedom of expression, freedom of association, freedom of religious choices, are sacred freedoms, that the world can go to battle for.

Do not infringe on other's rights just to please yourself and your convictions, there are yours, not for everyone. Religious laws and statutes are not part of the freedom charter statutes.
See, you are correct to stress the freedom to live and let live but that is not the reality on ground and the government of Nigeria is in denial! My attitude is to keep shouting about the genocide to attract and sustain international attention while ensuring that one says nothing about Islam that will make them do more genocide going forward as more Christians will get killed. Truth is Sharia does not tolerate any other belief system in any given space. Islam is an either or proposition. Can Muslims have that in Nigeria as presently constituted? That is what they are insisting on . What are we gonna do about that? That is the real issue that Tinubu and the Nigerian government are avoiding.

In this our world, there is freedom of speech, fully supported by the UN charter and Nigerian constitution...freedom of speech, freedom of expression. stop spreading extremism, the world is not about you and everyone is not like you, there are hundreds of religions out there. Nairaland do remove posts that encourages extremism, remember the story of Deborah.
While I am one with your comment on the matter I should think that it is wise to refrain from conduct that draws the ire of Muslims especially in Nigeria where proven genocide against Christians is denied by the Government who have been known and shown to be complicit in the main or by default in failing to deal decisively with the genocide for whatever reason.

Well, I hope Christians in the South of Nigeria don't see the matter entirely as a Northern affair. As for Trump, truth is, Africa is a beautiful bride that the world powers find attractive. The genocide matter provides a valid reason. Who says however that military is the only way to have Trump look this way? Economic sanctions have a biting effect.

I knew it'll always come to this. They've fully unleashed their lying machines to deny the genocide going on in Nigeria. The good thing is Trump never said he's going to invade Nigeria. The man only said "move fast." The question now is: since Trump made that statement, what has the FG done apart from trying to suppress the fact that there's genocide against Christians in Nigeria? If anything, are we not having more and more attacks compared to when the issue never got the attention of the international community?
The Nigerian government and folks sounding the same strain on the matter are playing the Ostrich. Truth is, via human and electronic intelligence the USA knows for sure that there is genocide against Christians going on in Nigeria even as we speak. We must come to the point where the genocide stops and life is live and let live so we can have peace in Nigeria. If folks who live in Nigerian south think it is a Northern Nigeria problem they had better think again! Genocide against Christians in the Nigerian North that we tolerate will find a place in the South shortly if we do nothing about it.
Politics › Re: Is This All China And Others Can Do For Nigeria At This Time? by zoedew:
Your piece is tainted by your denial of the proven and glaring fact that there is genocide against Christians in Nigeria. Youtube is full of undeniable evidence in that respect. Reports have been compiled by local and foreign organisations compiling the gory details. Christian communities displaced from their indigenous lands and replaced by Muslim populations are presently found in IDP Camps in Nigeria and the government has done little or nothing to put them back on their indigenous lands. These are verifiable facts.
The Nigerian government has denied the obvious in the matter claiming that it is about Fulani Cattle herders and Farmers clashes relating to grazing rights. Strangely the same Nigerian government has not put its foot down to say that who wants to rear cattle should acquire land for that purpose just as an Artisan, Tailor, Medical Doctor, Lawyer, Trader and others in various life and commercial endeavours are required to do.
No matter how much attempts are made to confuse the issues the truth is that there is genocide against Christians in Nigeria. It is not insecurity in Nigeria that is in view in the matter. That is generally acknowledged. It is not the killing of Muslims in Nigeria that is in view in the matter. That also, is generally acknowledged, especially as a fall out of the insecurity in Nigeria. What is in view in this matter is that Christians are specifically targeted for killings and dislocation from their indigenous communities and where they choose to live and work in Nigeria just because they are Christians. That is the generally accepted meaning of genocide.
While there are Muslims whose school of thought subscribes to a live and let live Islamic lifestyle that tolerates freedom of thought, religion and association there exists also schools of Islamic thought who strongly contend that Sharia Law should dictate the lifestyle everywhere they go! To boot they are committed to ensuring that everywhere that is somewhere is subject to Sharia Law. The truth is that such an idea is not feasible everywhere that is somewhere! But that is what such folks are insistent upon. Can they have it? Should they have it? It is capable of destroying our world.

Pakute:
The Department of State Services, DSS, Nigeria’s domestic intelligence agency, has filed a six-count charge against 27-year-old Innocent Chukwuemeka Onukwume for allegedly calling for the overthrow of President Bola Tinubu’s administration through a military coup.

Onukwume, a resident of Umusayo Layout in Oyigbo Local Government Area, Rivers State, reportedly made the calls for a coup in tweets posted on his X account (@theagroman) in October, according to the charges.

The charges, filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja under case number FHC/ABJ/CR/610/2025, alleged that Onukwume also sought assistance from members of the military to execute the alleged coup.

The filing was submitted on November 11 by A. M. Danalami on behalf of the DSS.

OFFICER YERIMA BREACHED THE LAW IN THAT FACEOFF WITH NYESOM WIKE

By Prof. Sebastine Hon, SAN
(Constitutional Lawyer and Author)

Brushing sentiments aside, I hereby condemn in totality the actions of the Naval Officer, A.M. Yerima, who obstructed the FCT Minister from gaining access into that parcel of land, under the guise of ‘obeying superior orders.’ The duty of a junior officer to obey the orders of his superiors, even though strongly upheld in military and paramilitary circles, has its own limitations recognised by no other authority but the Supreme Court of Nigeria. I shall establish this anon.

In the recent case of Onunze vs. State (2023) 8 NWLR (Pt. 1885) 61 at 108 SC, the Supreme Court held emphatically, per Ogunwunmiju, JSC, thus:

“My Lords, the obligation to obey the orders of a superior does not include orders that are palpably illegal or manifestly unjust. Every military or police officer swears an oath upon commissioning. The Oath is not to obey all orders, it is to “preserve”, “protect” and defend the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria against all enemies, foreign and domestic. When an officer obeys palpably illegal orders, they become personally liable for their actions and would be expected to face court martial or official sanction for the wrongdoing.”

In the earlier decision of Nigeria Air Force vs. James (2002) 18 NWLR (Pt. 798) 295 at 324 SC, Onu, JSC, delivering the lead judgment of the Supreme Court, held firmly, subjugating military personnel to civilian authority and disparaging obedience to illegal orders, as follows:

“See the case of Pius Nwaogu v. The State (1972) 1 All NLR 149 where it was held, inter alia, that "a soldier is responsible to Military and Civil Law and it is monstrous to suppose that a soldier could be protected when the order is grossly and manifestly illegal. Of course, there is the other proposition that a soldier is only bound to obey lawful orders and is responsible if he obeys an order not strictly lawful.’"

The illegality in that order stems primarily from the fact that no service law of the military permits a serving military officer to mount guard at the private construction site of his boss, especially under suspicious circumstances like this. The retired Naval Officer ought, under the circumstances, to have engaged the civil police, if he suspected likelihood of arson or criminal trespass.

Additionally, Barr. Nyesom Wike is the equivalent of Governor of a State – he being the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. More importantly, all lands in the FCT Abuja, by section 297(2) of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria, 1999 as amended, belong to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. By section 302 of the same Constitution, read together with other extant Acts of the National Assembly, the President of Nigeria has delegated all powers with respect to land administration in the FCT Abuja to the Hon. Minister. Going by constitutional and administrative law, therefore, Mr. Wike stood in loco the President of Nigeria and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces on that fateful day. Consequently, even if the superior officer were still in service, he would not disobey Mr. Wike or obstruct him from entering the land. This was an affront to the civil authority of Mr. President.

The Minister’s method may be brash; but it is legal and lawful in all respects. Rather, it is the officer who obstructed him that has breached not just the Nigerian Constitution, but also service and extant regulatory laws. For the avoidance of any doubt, section 114 of the Armed Forces Act makes military personnel criminally liable for civil offences. This means the officer in question could be arraigned before a Court Martial for obstructing a public officer from performing his public duties, et cetera.

In conclusion, celebrating the humiliation of Nyesom Wike, simply because he is a ‘big man’ or simply because he is not liked by certain persons begs the real issue here. If such intolerable conduct by the young officer is not punished or is celebrated, this may unleash a reign of terror by the men in khaki against hapless civilians – with a grin or boast that ‘we did it to Wike and nothing happened.’ This is not Nigeria of our dream!
I rest my case here.

I sincerely hope you are not slow. Obama was Commander-in-Chief of the U.S Military. Can the same be said of Wike? If Wike wants to boss military men around, he should enroll into the Nigerian Defence Academy and survive the rigorous training. In the military, respect is earned only through sweat, blood and tears. Not through political appointments.
All I ask is that you get a better education and home training. If you were well trained at home it should be in your understanding to address people courteously regardless of your age and status in society. Wike and the naval upstart of a chap are studies in the answer you just got.

That kind of reasoning belongs to colonial yesterday and is one reason our military is not modern except in uniforms and epaulettes wearing! In the developed world military officers who are indeed officers and gentleman subordinate themselves to civilian authorities and do not call civvies whose taxes fund the military such names as “bloody civilians”. A U.S. General who once spoke in a derogatory manner about President Obama had to surrender his commission. Grow up!

Smh.

It's obvious that you have not had case in court before or got involved in land matters litigation.

That is bad PR to the retired officer. He could actually land in bigger problems ,even arrested and prosecuted.

The Minister represents the President. If he takes on the Minister then he is taking on the President and that's bad for him.

Interestingly, the retired officer wouldn't send his own son on such errand and when he was a young officer, he wasn't having a shouting match publicly with constituted authorities or behaving the way the young officer behaved to the Minister. If he was behaving like that he would not get to the pinnacle of his career.

FG will investigate the appropriateness or otherwise of a serving or retired senior military officer to give order to a junior officer to restrain a Minister on his lawful duty from performing his duty.
That will be visited to ensure that such disgraceful scene never happens again.

That Junior Officer should have known the limits of his discretion and just kept quiet after saying he was obeying order which has now turned out to be an order given by a retired military officer.

So if tomorrow, retired or serving officers tell him to slap a government official, he will do it niyen.

It was the President he was challenging by placing the 'order ' above the authority of the president delegated to the Minister.

Whatever incentive he got or was promised by the retired Senior Officer for him to behave in that manner must be investigated too. Haba!

It is completely unacceptable that the Minister was prevented from performing his lawful duty by a junior officer acting on the order of a retired military officer. Everyone including the junior officer and the retired Senior naval officer should by now have been rounded up and quizzed if it's not already done.

That video is a very sad event that embarrasses the President and the nation.
Very sound comment in law and in fact!

He holds a PhD and a Master's degree in Transport Management from Ladoke Akintola University.

Vice Admiral Gambo has held numerous key appointments throughout his career, including Director of Procurement at the Defence Space Administration and Commander/Commandant of the Directorate of Naval Intelligence Annex and the Nigerian Navy Intelligence School.

He is also a member and fellow of various professional bodies related to management, safety, shipping, and diplomacy.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike accused him of land grabbing and illegal construction.
He doesn’t own the land. He has no valid papers to prove that he owns the land.

That's a big fat lie.

No court has acquitted KANU of his ongoing terrorism case.

The Appeal court only ruled on the legality of his extraordinary rendition and said it contravened both Nigerian and international law and ordered the FG to return KANU to Kenya and begin the process of rendition within legal means.

The Supreme Court set aside the Appeal court verdict on the grounds that KANU was already sanding trial for serious crimes of national importance and ruled that KANU was first a fugitive at large and that the extraordinary rendition even though an illegality if both Nigerian and international law did not hold because KANU had lost his protection of the court after jumping bail from where he continued his terrorism activities.
