Editorialtimes:
Babachir Lawal Vows to Work with El-Rufai to Stop Tinubu’s Re-election in 2027

Abuja, Nigeria - Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has declared his intention to collaborate with former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai to prevent President Bola Tinubu from winning the 2027 presidential election according to the information obtained by The Bureau Newspaper on Wednesday. Lawal, once an ally of Tinubu, has become a vocal critic of the president, blaming his economic reforms for exacerbating poverty and hardship in Northern Nigeria.

In an interview with Punch, Lawal described Tinubu’s policies as “nail-biting reforms” that have left the Northern region feeling betrayed and economically distressed. He emphasized the urgent need for political change, stating that the North is mobilizing to ensure Tinubu does not secure a second term.

Lawal’s stance aligns with El-Rufai’s recent warnings about a potential political upheaval in 2027, similar to the challenges faced by former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015. El-Rufai had shared insights on his verified X account (formerly Twitter) from APC member Uche Diala, highlighting a significant decline in Tinubu’s relationship with the North over the past two years.

He acknowledged the divide among political elites over the candidate’s origin, with some advocating for a Southern candidate while others express concerns about the risks involved.

Lawal concluded by highlighting the disconnect between elite opinions and the sentiments of the masses, asserting that even those who appear to support Tinubu will not vote for him due to the hardships they endure. He urged Northern political leaders to heed the call for change and ensure that Tinubu does not secure a second term.

This development signals growing discontent within the Northern political establishment and sets the stage for a contentious battle ahead of the 2027 elections.

Nairaland General › Agoa Deal Up For Renewal In September 2025. Has Nigeria Availed In 25 Years? by zoedew(op): 12:53pm On Feb 13, 2025
One wonders how well Nigeria has availed itself of the opportunity AGOA presented for about twenty-five years now.🧐🧐🧐. South-Africa poking her nose into Gaza and suing Israel (a U.S.) at the ICC in support of Hamas terrorists is not likely to get a renewal. South-Africa auto industry had benefited about 25% in the AGOA deal and is poised to suffer economic setback as Trump gets set to not oblige a renewal.

Don't think the fellows as you called them aren't good. They don't need any mountain climbing or fasting. Most are faring better than the Nigerians still in Nigeria 100 times....this immigration round up doesn't mean that those people that are staying illegally are lazy, suffering or dying 90% are doing quite good but with the present Trump headache, that freedom of hustling is been taking away from them and the only respite is to hide for the fire to cool down....
Your jaundiced perception is displayed by your omission to mention "work" as a necessary condition and pre-requisite to doing well in Nigeria and elsewhere for that matter! You exhibited intellectual dishonesty by skipping the word "work" in responding to my post. How has prayer and fast injured you?
Nairaland General › Hamas Capitulates To Trump Firm Ultimatum! by zoedew(op): 12:38pm On Feb 13, 2025
Hamas just said the Israeli hostages will be released this Saturday "as initially planned". FRANCE 24 just reported that. It remains to be seen whether all the hostages will be released on Saturday. Hamas knows that "all hell'll break loose" as stated by Trump if by Saturday all the Israeli hostages are not released. Biden should cover his face in shame for not wielding the influence the American Presidency holds efficiently and effectively!

That certainly will open the door for the American takeover. Certainly the chance needed by Trump and Netanyahu and a fulfillment of the agreement to convert Gaza to another American city.

By calculation, Netanyahu will do the job of pushing the Palestinians away from Gaza, to Jordan, Egypt, Syria or Lebanon.

Palestinians must therefore warn Hamas to ensure the release of the hostages or risk pushing the whole of them away from their remaining parts of the land.

Added to that must be Iran, who must warn Hamas of the dangers of not meeting the Saturday noon deadline.
Ramaphosa and South-Africa will do well to take in Hamas Palestinians into their country.

As much as Trump is an unpredictable inbred, you either love him or hate him, agree completely with him or disagree completely with him but I kind of find myself stuck in between. On this one, as a citizen who has had the experience of first hand impact of terrorism, I can't but applaud him on this action.
For better illustration, the US, Turkey, UAE have troops in Somalia fighting terrorists, AU has about 20,000 troops. Somalia has been the capital or command center of ISIS terrorists for over a decade, IS-Somalia, an affiliate of ISIS, controls the Puntland state and large expanse of mountains located at the northeastern part of Somalia, from where funding and arms are being supplied to other parts of Africa. More than 80% of these terrorists are Africans from North Africa, Tanzania, Ethiopia, as well as a significant number from the Middle east.
You must have seen a well structured underground tunnel networks by Hamas, in similar fashion, there are hundreds of caves in Puntland from where IS Somalia launches its strikes. There's another powerful group of terrorists known as Al Shabab an affiliate of the once most dreaded Al Qaeda. This group controls the larger part of the entire Somalia. However, these two groups of terrorists operating in Somalia have a thing in common. Both are being funded and armed by the Houthis in Yemen.
I must commend Trump for sustaining the fight and I mean sustain in the sense that Biden's Administration conducted a handful of airstrikes against terrorists in Somalia. Although he seems to be about undoing most of the policies of his predecessor but I commend his good heart for the continuity.
As a country whose peace is threatened by ISWAP, an affiliate of ISIS, I urge President Trump to order more flurry of airstrikes, hopefully, this won't be a one-off.
One of the best comments ever I read on NL this is! Merit applause!!!! 👏

Okonkwo pretends to not know that Atiku, Tinubu, Kwankwaso and Peter Obi are desperate politicians. They have no limits to what they will do just so they can become Nigerian President. That is the thing that separates them from say, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Adeshina and Osinbajo who are all in good stead to become great Nigerian Presidents but are not desperate to be one as they clearly have lines they have drawn for themselves and will not cross just to be President!
