Romance › Re: He Cancelled The Wedding Because I Missed His Father's Funeral… by zoedew: 7:15am On Jun 08
AdisGlobal01:
SHE_NEEDS_YOUR_ADVICE

My wedding was scheduled for March this year, but everything changed after my fiancé's father passed away unexpectedly in November.

His funeral was held just three weeks later, in December. I genuinely wanted to attend, but there was one major problem: my employer had a strict policy against granting leave during the December holiday period. When I accepted the job, this condition was clearly stated. Despite explaining my situation and pleading for an exception, my request was denied.

I informed my fiancé immediately. At first, he appeared understanding. I even contributed financially to support the funeral arrangements.

Then his mother called.

She told me that if I truly wanted to become part of their family, I had to be physically present at her husband's funeral. I tried explaining my circumstances, but she ended the call before I could finish.

When I called my fiancé afterward, I expected him to stand by me. Instead, he asked:

"If it were your own father, wouldn't you find a way to attend?"

I explained that the situations were different because my employer might make an exception if it were my immediate family member.

That was when he dropped the bombshell:

"No presence. No wedding."

I thought grief was speaking. I thought time would calm him down.

I was wrong.

The wedding was officially cancelled.

My family tried everything to reconcile the situation, but his family refused every attempt. Eventually, my father advised me to accept the loss and move forward with my life.

It broke me, but I did.

Months passed.

Then, on May 20th, my ex-fiancé called me.

What he said left me speechless.

According to him, I had failed the test of being a good wife because I stopped trying to convince his family after the wedding was cancelled. He said a "real wife" would have kept begging until she was accepted.

Then he announced that he had "forgiven" me.

Not only that, he had already chosen a new wedding date in August and expected me to start preparing immediately.

As if the breakup had never happened.

As if my feelings didn't matter.

As if he alone had the authority to decide when a relationship ends—and when it resumes.

Without hesitation, I told him I was no longer interested.

His response shocked me even more.

He said:

"I'm not done. You don't have the right to be done."

I blocked his number immediately.

But that wasn't the end.

A few days later, he appeared at my father's house carrying the bride price and all the marriage items he had previously rejected.

My father told him clearly:

"My daughter has moved on. As far as this family is concerned, she is no longer available."

Still, he refused to accept it.

Since then, he and his mother have continued calling, visiting, and pressuring both me and my family despite my repeated refusal.

Now I'm beginning to wonder:

Is this really about love, or is there something deeper behind their sudden determination?

What troubles me most is the mindset that someone can cancel a wedding, disappear for months, return when it suits them, and expect another person to simply obey.

I am now considering legal action because the constant calls, visits, and refusal to respect my decision are becoming disturbing.

My question is:

If someone ends a relationship, then later decides to "forgive" you and resume the wedding without your consent, would you see that as love... or as a dangerous sense of entitlement?

What would you do if you were in my shoes?
His decision was not but a plus for you! Consider yourself blessed to have escaped gaol!! You would have ended up in a slave camp in the name of marriage!!!

How do they intend controlling people they don't fund or in most cases are not their members?

I don't know about the kwankwasiya, but I am sure Obi doesn't control obidients, that's the difference between patriots and politicians.

I am obidient and nobody controls or dictates to me, once you act right, I will follow you and definitely not for a prize. Once the advice is ultra vires then you are on your own.
Sounds like a loose canon!

NDC should be careful not to fall into a boiling oil put on fire by APC miscreants.

NDC should be aware that Obidient movement and kwankwansia movement pre-dates the party and have been running as an autonomous body backing their principals for a well stated and properly documented political agenda which is to bring to birth a ' NEW NIGERIA ' were citizens will prosper , democracy will thrive, lives and properties will be secured and businesses and the entire economy will grow.

NDC must not allow itself to be coerced by external anti progress forces into creating an internal problems that will clog its wheel at this critical time.
The party should focus on winning the upcoming presidential elections and not pursuing cosmetic control measures, which will create impediment.

Let the party quickly withdraw and correct the statement put online

This has always been the problem...

A group of people believing rules don't apply to them because they are the next best thing after fried rice. If it's so easy, then they should form their own political party where they can do and undo in peace. You know why they won't, because they are all opportunists like their principal. All their movement is useless without a political party structure. Yet when you are given a structure, you start acting like rogue agents that is are not answerable to anyone. Even your principal can't caution you.

At this point, most parties have started to realize Obi is a termite infested wood. The disadvantages are starting to outweigh the advantages they thought his movement would bring to the party.
In real terms they are fascists! Real and Fierce Fascists!

What would it cost Peter Obi and his supporters to register their own party instead of causing turmoil everywhere? huh
It will cost Peter Obi what he does not have: leadership and teaming skills that are required to pull and deploy resources TOGETHER! Peter Obi is a loner and a dictator unknown to many. Dictators usually work up the emotions of folks enamoured with them and thereafter assume the posture of a dictator. Check the mode d’emploi of Benito and Adolf! By the way, The North of Nigeria won’t dance with undiplomatic people! A marriage of two hotheads will only produce crushed heads! Watch going forward.🤔. Folks will do well to study how the current President made it to the office. Tinubu was not frontal about his intentions from the word “Go”. He took his time to baby sit Buhari until the toddler he had in Buhari became preoccupied with playing with his many toys and did not notice when Tinubu had things cemented! The North won’t let you have power except by negotiation. Awolowo learnt that too late. The British always knew that!

The party posted this on their social media pages:

PRESS STATEMENT

OFFICE OF THE NATIONAL PUBLICITY SECRETARY,
NIGERIA DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (NDC)

Second NEC Resolutions: NDC Takes Major Steps Towards Institutionalization

1. The NDC is committed to building the party as a strong and enduring institution, with emphasis on party supremacy. The programs, policies, and appointments (except personal staff) of all governments elected on the platform of the party must be made in consultation with the party structure.

The party remains supreme, and members are expected to align their personal interests and agendas with those of the party.

2. All affiliated groups and NGOs shall operate under the guidance and control of the party and must not function in parallel with, or independently of, the party structure.

3. A comprehensive Code of Conduct shall be established for all party officials and candidates. To this end, a committee has been constituted under the leadership of the National Legal Adviser to develop the framework and guidelines.

4. A National Reconciliation Committee has been inaugurated to reconcile all aggrieved members of the party.

5. The NDC is being built as an institution, not a personality cult, political movement, or Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to be used and discarded.

Members are encouraged to remain committed to the party and contribute to its growth and sustainability for generations to come.

At all times, and for all candidates and aspirants, total allegiance must be to the party and the national interest.

On financial probity, the party will enforce strict accountability in the management of party resources by all officers, and party funds must be used strictly for party business.

For candidates, there must also be strict accountability for all funding received. Monies sourced by candidates at all levels, and contributions made by candidates to campaign accounts, must be fully disclosed to the party at the appropriate levels (local government, state, zonal, and national). Such funds must be received through dedicated party campaign accounts, including presidential and governorship campaign accounts of the party, as applicable.

Signed:

Osa Director
National Publicity Secretary

The question is should it be turn by turn at the detriment of capable hands...?

I'm not saying now that atiku or Fulani is the most capable at the moment.

What I'm asking is should be be turn by turn at the detriment of competence?

In my mind it shouldn't matter whose turn as long as the most capable and competent people leads.

All these turn by turn politics is a major cause of the root problem and would take us nowhere as a nation though!
Is Atiku a capable hand. Atiku the corrupt and thieving hand! By the way, to Obasanjo, every other politician except himself is a thief and corrupt politician! Meanwhile, Obasanjo is yet to public how he came about the funds for all he has.
Not a few Nigerians believe that he is as incorruptible as he presents himself.

Atiku’s presidency will be synonymous to a Fulani presidency even as Bola Tinubu’s presidency is synonymous to a Yoruba presidency and the Yorubas are proud of him no doubt...

If I'm getting what this dude is saying clearly. Is that atiku's government would be tribalistic and nepotistic. This I beg to disagree on as atiku is the least tribalistic of all the candidates contesting the position at the moment.

His records are there and the evidence clear. They are a lot of things you can accuse atiku of but being a bigot is not one of them.

Secondly, atiku's followers are not toxic and as insultive as the other two major contenders. ( you know who)

Sometimes I feel atiku's supporters are too calm as they hardly react negatively with threats and violence especially the way other supporters do. Atiku's criticism often are also objective and on point!
That is not the reality. The Fulani play exactly as Atiku does. The Fulani are masters of stealth. Usman Dan Fodio never disclosed his real intentions until he had the noose in place! Ask Alimi of Ilorin and Nigerians who lived under Buhari notably Tinubu himself!

From the CTC

1. Mr Ajibade was not the national legal adviser because of his suspension and have no legal right to appoint any one to represent PDP in court.
2.That court did not recognised the caretaker committee of PDP from FCT minister group who later wrote to INEC for their convention.
3.the federal high court that recognised wike group should not have done that since it was not before the court and court should not give what that was not pleaded.
4. This is my understanding of the attached CTC judgement based on what was posted here.

The end of discussion is that the Wike version has lost out.....

My only worry is if INEC Nigeria will honour the said judgement since they choose which to honour and look aside
INEC WILL OBEY THE JUDGMENT OF THE COURT. IT HAS ALWAYS DONE SO.

Don't you think that the destinies of the people who will benefit from the project will not allow Peter Obi to smell the position?

Our only saving grace in this country is that God used Anambra people to test the suffering that Peter Obi would have subjected Nigerians to 😭🙏...

Anambra residents saw the faded road markings, the abandoned projects, and the choked drains. We all know that Peter Obi is a master of media optics, not governance. Imagine that on a national scale.
